Anonymous Review: Okay 1: if I didn't like Yu-Gi-Oh GX, let alone am a fan of the show, I wouldn't be writing a fan fiction about it. 2: There are certain things about Yu-Gi-Oh GX I don't like, but Get Yar Game on isn't one of them. It's one of my favorites! 3: I only breeze off the duels because THEY'RE NOT THE MAIN FOCUS. I mentioned at the beginning of this story that this focuses on the shadow games and less on the duels. 4: You might LOVE to be explained card effects, but I don't. I like to get to the point and, if you want your information, use google. 5. Being loaded isn't an explanation on how the Admiral was able to retrieve a submarine. Those are mostly owned by the military or a research team. Kaiba had a jet, because his step father Gozoburro sold military weapons.
As for the rest of this, why are you reading this? No seriously, WHY are you reading this!? You obviously don't like how I'm retelling Yu-Gi-Oh GX. All I'm reading in this is hate, hate, hate. Please tell me why you're reading this story, and close to 40 chapters into it? If you hate this story this badly, then stop wasting my time, and read other stories that are ten times better than this.
The anonymous review I'm replying to was deleted, since it was a flame. Normally, I wouldn't reply to them, but this one seemed to be confusing what I like and dislike about Yu-Gi-Oh GX (rather that or this person is just pulling things out of his/her ass). I don't hate Yu-Gi-Oh GX or anything of Yu-Gi-Oh. There are things I don't like about it, but I usually try to change them like I did with the Shadow Game with the Camula. These are the list of Yu-Gi-Oh GX episodes I DON'T like from the first season besides the one I just mentioned. Some of these may surprise you. List: Duel and Unusual Punishment (goes off and on), A Spirit Summoned, Courting Alexis, The Duel Giant, Nature of the Draw, The School Duel (when Chazz's brothers appear), A Lying Legend, and Hearts Are Wild. Each of these have one thing in common, I changed the storyline. I never poked fun at any of them, except with Harrington in Courting Alexis. Generally, if there's an episode I hate, I change what I dislike about that episode and put my own stuff in there that I think would've fit better, or I never write it at all. Usually, the episodes I REALLY hate are the ones I hate so bad that I don't even bother putting my own version of them in like the duel with Camula, A Lying Legend and Hearts Are Wild.
Sorry this took so long to post up. I was going to post it earlier, but then my brother and I continued with Dimensional Wacky Adventures, so... yeah. Still, hope you enjoy this. Review please!
Carl had prepared her deck, being ready for anything Zane could possibly throw at her. While doing this, in peace and quiet as she liked, Jaylin was resting in her bed dreaming away. If Carl had dark powers, she would have seen Kuri curled up beside Jaylin, while she slept. She had been sick the day before with a slight fever, though it was getting better. Her temperature had gone down, and was no longer coughing.
Carl sighed happily, then checked her roommate. She placed her hand on Jaylin's forehead, while the girl slept. Jaylin moaned slightly, moving her hands and arms to grasp the pillow she laid on. Carl then noticed something under Jaylin's fingernails. It looked... black.
Carl carefully loosened one of Jaylin's fingers, giving a closer look inside that fingernail that was black. Being that Carl had long and thin fingernails, she was able to slightly chip a little of the black stuff, which flaked onto the floor, now looking a dark red. Was that blood!?
"What are ya doing?" Jaylin asked in a moan.
"What kind of stunts are you doing that are ruining your fingers? I saw dry blood under your fingernails," Carl asked with furrowed eyebrows.
"Oh... it's just from training. It's not going to ruin me, Carl. I heal pretty quickly, and things like this are going to happen whether I like it or not. I put fingernail polish to cover it up."
"That's some rough training you do to make your nails bleed like that. Do you harm yourself anywhere else?"
"Yes. Not enough to leave any scars behind... though I wouldn't advise any normal person to try them," Jaylin said, getting up from the bed and walking outside.
"Are you sure you should be going out. I know you only had a slight fever yesterday, but-"
"I'm fine, Carl. I just don't want to be cooped up all the day long. I want to at least sit out in the sun," Jaylin assured, smiling as she walked to the edge of the cliff by the campus.
"It's a bit chilly, you know," Carl warned, sitting next to her friend.
"I know."
The two girls sat in silent for a long while. Finally, Jaylin asked, "did the blood freak you out a bit?"
"It would have more, if I had not known your record."
Jaylin smirked, "knew it."
"Why do you have to harm yourself like that? Is Ronda gonna have to harm herself too?"
"Probably. I'm still thinking back to the book Daddy gave me."
"Hm?"
"He gave me his old journal to read as part of my training, remember?"
"Ah."
"He fell in love."
"Hm?"
"My dad... he ran away from home to protect his family and friends from his own powers he couldn't control. He was living on his own... in the middle of nowhere... and fell in love."
"That's sweet."
"Yes... she wanted to help him. She was smart, knew a good chunk of magic and Ancient History of all sorts."
"Wow. Did he kiss her?"
"Yes. Passionately too."
"What's so bad about that?"
"It's not that, that's bad... I feel sad that she had to die from his own powers he couldn't control. Daddy was only trying to save her from some thieves and... the force of his powers... it didn't just kill her he... he watched as her body discombobulated, her arms ripped apart, her body twist in different angles, and..." Jaylin explained in a mutter before staring off into the distance. She began remembering what she had done to the family dog after she was bitten by it. "He couldn't stop it."
"Oh my..." Carl muttered quietly, feeling almost sick.
Jaylin sighed, then lifted her legs, which touched her nose. She held them in her arms, looking out into the ocean. She asked, "would you laugh or believe me, if I told you that pure love calms the darkness?"
"I'd say it's corny as hell."
"Well, it's actually true. Though, don't get confused, hon. Daddy was able to calm my powers, because his emotional love sent some sort of strain through my body. Zane does the same thing. It's not exactly romantic love, but it can work just as much. Emotions in every being is very strong. It can calm or strain a person. You can also give that to another. Love is calm and it can be a strain as well."
"I don't see how friendship love can be just as strong as romantic love. Wouldn't romantic love be stronger? You know, because of hormones and all that."
"Lust and love are different. They can go hand in hand, but love does not release hormones. A couple can say they're in love, then break up and never talk to each other again. Pure love doesn't work like that. When I feel Zane touch my shoulder, I feel some sort of overwhelming strain and comfort. He protects me, fights for me, stays with me, because he loves me as his dear friend."
"Sounds corny, if you ask me."
"Yeah, well... it's something you need to know, because my powers are unbelievably strong and, sometimes, I fear I might destroy this island one day. I need you all with me, so I can be strained when I need to be."
"Does this strain you?" Carl asked, placing her hand on Jaylin. She smiled.
"It does a bit," Jaylin replied, her golden eyes glowing directly at Carl, who giggled in response.
Later that day, Carl shuffled her deck beside the door that led to the stage of the auditorium. Zane appeared walking, looking directly at Carl with a daring smirk across his lips. The Junior gave one in return before their smirks changed to a more serious expression. It was as if they both immediately changed to the same page at the same time.
"Ronda says she's recording everything on her phone to send to Jaylin. She still needs rest from that nasty flu," Carl explained.
"Did she like the soup?" Zane asked.
"It helped... Zane?" Carl asked as Zane rose two eyebrows. "How rough does Jaylin push herself during her own training?"
"Do you remember when Jaylin was dueling Dimetri when she mentioned about falling off a cliff, then chased by a shark?" Zane asked as Carl's eyebrows rose, and her eyes widened. "That was actually a training session her father had her do when she was 12 years old."
"You serious!? But wouldn't she get killed!?"
"Someone like us, yes, but Jaylin has the power to destroy this entire island by the flick of her finger. Believe it or not, she actually killed that shark, cooked and ate it. It was a massive shark too. If I was to describe Jaylin's powers, it'd be the equivalent of an atomic bomb stuffed into a 15 year old girl. If the government got a hold of her, they could give Russia and America a run for their money. Jaylin's tough, but only because she holds enormous powers that she has to learn to control or risk hurting others."
"Damn. But wait, you mentioned the government, I'm surprised that Jaylin is open about having powers."
"She can't exactly hide them, Carl. Having powers like that aren't easy to hide. She can lower them, but that's as far as she'll go. She's also not known in her records to have such powers, and I doubt if the Japanese Government will listen to assumed publicity about a high school girl with the powers of hell."
"Still, I hope Jaylin doesn't hurt herself too badly, even if she can beat up a shark. I saw blood under her fingernails. They look really bad."
"That's why she doesn't reveal much about her training. It can get very violent when she trains."
"How are you calm about this?"
"I suppose time, and the fact she's too full of herself to start thinking suicide."
Carl snorted before her and Zane entered the auditorium on the other side of the door. Each walked on the opposite sides of the stage. The audience cheered, their friends watching from the front of the auditorium.
"NEXT, WE HAVE CARL HYNS VERSUS ZANE TRUESDALE!" Dr. Crowler announced as everyone cheered.
"Let's start this bad boy," Carl smirked.
