Wow, looks like I got about 336 reviews. We just need 14 more reviews to get to number 350. Keep it up! Anyways, let's get back to the duel, shall we? Review please!
Zane and Carl were dueling against each other as two of the final eight. They seemed to be neck in neck, though now Carl seemed to be winning. She had Caius the Shadow Monarch on the field, and had just activated Ryko, the Lightsword Warrior's flip effect, on her turn, to destroy Different Dimension Capsule from Zane's Trap and Spell Card Zone. Valhalla, Hall of the Fallen was being played as her field spell card, and one card was laid face-down in her Spell and Trap Card Zone. She had 1600 life points remaining.
Zane, on the other hand, had no monsters, no face-down cards, now no active continuous spell cards, no cards in his hand, and had 700 life points remaining. Though, when his turn came up, after drawing his next card during his Draw Phase, he also seemed to have returned his folded card from his Banish Card Pile to his hand. Carl seemed very confounded, as much as everyone else in the audience, as Zane showed a devious smirk upon those lips.
"I activate the effect of Card From a Different Dimension," Zane declared, revealing the card he had just returned to his hand from his Banished Card Pile. The card showed from the hologram of his duel disk as everyone in the crowd gasped, then applauded Zane for his surprising move. Carl smirked.
"Impressive. You managed to place more cards into your hand, though the same goes for me," Carl said, drawing two cards from her deck to her hand.
"I know," Zane replied, drawing two extra cards from his deck to his hand from the effect of Card From a Different Dimension. "First, I place one card face-down, then I activate Time Fusion by banishing one card from my hand to summon by second Cyber End Dragon on my next turn. With that, I end." The audience clapped for the end of Zane's turn.
"You still think you have a chance?" Carl asked, keeping a smirk on her face, while drawing her next card.
"I do, because I activate my trap card," Zane smirked, grinning as he activated his trap card Call of the Haunted. "I use this to bring back Cyber End Dragon!" Cyber End Dragon appeared with all its might as the audience gasped, then applauded loudly, screaming at the top of their lungs. Sweat began appearing on Carl's forehead and face. "Do you know what the irony is, Carl?" Zane showed a sleepish smirk at his rhetorical question. "If you had not played your Ryko's effect on your last turn, you might've had a chance to use its effect to destroy my Call of the Haunted, and win the game."
Carl chuckled sarcastically, her pupils darting over to the side, as she replied, "I know..." Her eyes then pointed toward Zane, showing a sleepish smile. "I just wanted to give you a chance to win."
"So, you were going easy on me."
"Yes, but only because I know how much that duel with Jaylin means to the both of you."
"Yes, but doesn't defeating me mean just as much to you? After all, you've been setting your goals on defeating me, since coming to this school. This is my last year here."
"Yes, but I will be out of here soon, and I will have my chance again in future tournaments. Jaylin has more responsibilities with protecting this school, stopping Nightshroud, and so on," Carl explained, letting out a sigh. "I'll make it my mission to have our rematch, but until then, you and Jaylin have yours. You guys have been waiting for far too long to let this go to waste."
"Thanks," Zane thanked, showing a soft smile across his lips. Carl was a good opponent, a challenging rival, and a good friend.
"I end my turn," Carl declared as the audience clapped for the end of her turn.
"My second Cyber End Dragon comes to the field!" Zane declared as his second Cyber End Dragon appeared on the field. "My first Cyber End Dragon attacks your Ryko!" Cyber End Dragon shot a mix of electricity and lasers at Ryko, the Lightsword Warrior, blasting it from the field and leaving Carl with 0 life points remaining.
"IT WAS A CLOSE ONE, BUT LOOKS LIKE ZANE TRUESDALE WINS THIS DUEL!" Dr. Crowler announced over the microphone as everyone from the audience stood up, and applauded loudly, screaming and whistling. Zane and Carl walked to the middle of the stage, held hands, then threw their held hands up in the air. It was, indeed, a very memorable victory for both Zane and Carl.
From the audience, everyone was cheering aloud, Alexis sitting on Bastion's back, while Bastion holding onto Alexis' legs with his arms. Ronda happened to hop onto Syrus' back, who flinched, grabbing onto Ronda's legs tightly, then glaring at the girl on his back.
"Why do I have to carry you?" Syrus asked.
"Because I'm single, and you're more reliable," Ronda replied as Syrus sighed allowed.
"But you're wearing a skirt!"
"And shorts underneath. Co'mon! This is your brother's victory, show some spirit!" Ronda said, before cheering allowed, and whistling.
"Why me?"
Jaylin was able to watch the duel with Zane and Carl on her iPhone, which was recorded and posted on Ronda's Facebook. Being that she was sick, she could not be there to watch her two close friends duel. It was slightly depressing, but did make the best of it. Still, it was a pain being sick with the flu, even if it was getting better. A sigh left her nose, leaning back against the headboard of her bunk.
"I hope I get better by tomorrow," Jaylin moaned, sliding slowly back into her bed, shutting her phone off. "Now, I just feel..." Suddenly, her eyes widened, then instantly pulled her sheets half off, noticing a crimson red blotch in the middle of her bed. "GOD DAMNIT!"
Carl and Ronda laughed, walking on their way to Carl's and Jaylin's dorm room to check on their sick friend. Just when they made it upstairs, they noticed Jaylin walking out the door, slamming it shut with her foot, with a bundle of bed sheets in her arms.
"Jaylin shouldn't you be..." Carl was about to rebuke when she saw Jaylin's face as red as a tomato, and her ears fuming.
"Not. in. the. mood," Jaylin almost growled darkly, shoving passed Carl and Ronda. It was only then that they noticed Jaylin had changed into some new PJ's, which were a pair of red bottoms with a black rose design, and a black top with red roses.
Carl and Ronda watched their friend stomp down the stairs, still looking as red as a tomato, and her head close to bursting into smithereens. Carl sighed, then turned to Ronda, saying, "I'll keep an eye on her." Carl ran down, and followed Jaylin to the public laundry room for the Slifer Red Dorm.
Ronda sighed, and decided to wait for Carl and Jaylin in their dorm room. As soon as she opened the door, she slammed it shut, then covered her mouth to prevent herself from laughing. It took her a couple of seconds to control herself, and sigh. She ran quickly downstairs to get some Peroxide cleaner and a clean rag before rushing back upstairs, to Jaylin's and Carl's dorm room, to clean the blood stain off of Jaylin's mattress.
"I cannot believe I did that," Jaylin seethed through her teeth, her cheeks red.
"Don't get all antsy about it, Jay. It happens to all of us," Carl assured her roommate. Jaylin was sitting on the desk chair, cross-legged, while Carl was leaning over on the desk behind Jaylin. Ronda was still cleaning up the blood stain on Jaylin's bed.
"Well, it wasn't too bad. It was newly created, so it wasn't a bitch to get out," Ronda said pleasantly, placing the rag in a small plastic brown bag, and tying it up. She placed the Peroxide onto the desk.
"Thanks for the help. I just hope that stain isn't permanent on the sheets. The last time I leaked my bed, that bitch wouldn't come out. My dad ended up throwing my bedsheets away as soon as he realized where that stain came from," Jaylin said.
"Oh god," Ronda responded, facepalming, as the girls began laughing, while Jaylin buried her face behind her legs, cheeks still hot red. "I kinda feel sorry for ya. Having your period without a mother explaining to you about that shit."
"Actually, I did have a mother-like figure that told me about that stuff, though Daddy living with it without a woman in the house to take care of that kind of shit did make him nervous. After all, he was my Daddy and I was his little princess. Then, that princess grew a pair of 38's. Things began getting very weird," Jaylin said. She still remembered the number of times her dad accidentally walked-in on her, turning tomato red, before rebuking her for not locking the door. As time passed, since turning 11, Yugi had grown very strict on what she wore in public and in the house.
"Is it still weird?" Carl asked curiously.
"It is, but not as much as it used to be. He doesn't mind me wearing bikinis as long as I have swimming shorts with them. Though, he still wants me to wear a bra in the house when I'm not in my room, place my bathroom needs under the sink, clean any leaks I make, and still requires me to wash the bathtub after bathing."
"Uh... why?" Ronda asked, then Jaylin grew nervous and embarrassed.
"Eh..." Jaylin said, then pointed down toward her crouch area. The girls cocked their eyebrows at first before Jaylin whispered, "hair." The girls cringed together.
"Never mind," the girls replied together.
"Anyways, have you taken some medicine yet?" Ronda asked.
"I have right after I woke up," Jaylin replied, before letting out some coughs, then making a gagging sound. She grabbed a tissue, and spat into it. "Eh. I hate being sick."
"You want to rest on my bed?" Carl offered.
"I don't wanna mess up your bed, even if I did just put on a tampon," Jaylin said.
"I can always wash it, and besides girl, you're sick as a dog, on top of having cramps. You need rest," Carl stated firmly.
"Fine, Mommy," Jaylin sighed as the girls laughed, and she climbed up to the top bunk. She pulled the sheets over her, letting the medicine knock her off to sleep.
Carl got the tissue box, and placed it next to Jaylin, just in case she coughed up some phlegm again. She also got out a small plastic bag for Jaylin to put the tissues in. Jaylin did happen to cough in her sleep, but went back to sleep afterward. In the meantime, Carl was to keep track of Jaylin's laundry.
Ronda decided to do her homework, while Carl was taking care of Jaylin. Being at Duel Academy was a really big adventure for her, being that she only signed up to this place to have a place of her own. She loved her family, and they were always good and nice to her, but living with them was also a little overbearing. Ronda had lived with a mother and father, a crippled grandfather they had to take care of, a sick grandmother with cancer, an older cousin in his mid 20's and his wife, two aunts, and one uncle. Ronda was an only child in a crowded family, wanting to be her own person.
Now, Ronda no longer had to feel responsible for the entire household, and can be responsible for her own person. It didn't feel as overwhelming, and didn't distract her from her education. Many times, she had to do her schoolwork at a nearby library, because her home was too overbearing, and distracted her from her schoolwork with responsibilities at the house. It's easier said than done to be in charge of cleaning the kitchen when there are 8-9 people living in one household, every single one of them being adults.
It was the end of Round 5 and, in the next round, Jaylin would be dueling against Syrus, and Zane would be dueling against Bryan Shinala from Ra Yellow. Hopefully, Jaylin would be over her flu by the time that day arrived.
