Anonymous Review 1: Here's the difference. When Jaylin pulled that one on Alexis, she didn't know Jaylin. Zane has known Jaylin for the entire first semester, and watched her duel countless times. When you know someone for a certain amount of time, you tend to know their quirks, and how they think. We see, from Jaylin's duel with Alexis, that Alexis does not accept Jaylin's way of dueling by letting the opponent have leeway before going all out, which is why their second duel had Jaylin be a little more serious. Zane, on the other hand, seems to not mind this, and perhaps finds it interesting.
You are right about Zane normally finding what Jaylin is doing insulting, but he knows she's purposely giving him leeway to challenge herself. Zane is aware that, if Jaylin is at a huge disadvantage, it would be harder for her to win the duel. As part of his character, Zane would be interested to know if Jaylin would still be able to defeat him, despite these disadvantages.

I don't know if this is true or not, it could be coincidence, but I do suspect you're the same person who reviewed Couple Tournament Dance and Couple in Love. If that is the case, I know you want me to make a full story of those, but honestly, I don't have any ideas. If you want to, you can make a followup of the two. Just be aware that the story cannon of those two one shots are not related to the regular Yugioh cannon. This means there's no Pharaoh, millennium puzzle, or any of that hoopla.

Zane and Jaylin were in the middle of their duel, which was the final round of Duel Academy's Duel Tournament. This was also the duel that the duo had been waiting patiently for as their rematch to a duel that never happened in the Junior Grand Pix, due to Jaylin's previous injury and disqualification. Jaylin seemed to be letting Zane summon his monster, giving him a head start, to challenge herself, which Zane did not seem to mind.
Cyber Laser Dragon was on Zane's side of the field, all powerful and mighty. Zane also had a Cyber Kirin in defense mode, and one face-down card. He had yet to summon his powerful ace monster, Cyber End Dragon. He had 3700 life points remaining.
Jaylin's monsters had just been destroyed, including her ace monster, Elemental HERO Terra Firma. All Jaylin had was one face-down card, two cards in her hand, and 3400 life points remaining. If Jaylin didn't turn the duel around, she would lose in almost no time. The question remained whether or not she would finally take the duel seriously.
Jaylin drew one card from her deck to her hand. She pierced her lips, looking at the cards in her hand. Then, she declared, "I summon Elemental Hero Knospe to the field!" The plant Elemental HERO appeared on the field boldly. "Then, I equip him with Weak Anger!" Jaylin smirked as Elemental HERO Knospe began showing strong muscles in its arms and legs, and a glow surrounded it. It's attack points rose to 1600. "He attacks your Cyber Kirin!" Elemental HERO Knospe shot spores from its budded hands, and Cyber Kirin was destroyed. "And we don't want to forget Weak Anger's effect." Jaylin smirked the entire time she said that as Zane's life points dropped to 3400, a glow surrounding him. "Also, due to Knospe's effect, well... you know." Jaylin shrugged as Elemental HERO Knospe's attack rose to 1700 and defense 900. "I throw down a face-down, and end my turn." The audience clapped for the end of Jaylin's turn.
Zane drew his next card, then looked at it. He declared, "I activate my face-down card, Time Fusion." He banished the card in his hand, then searched through his extra deck, then showed the card he chose to Jaylin. "On my next Standby Phase, I will summon Cyber End Dragon."
"About time!" Jaylin smirked.
"Until then, I end my turn," Zane smirked in response as the audience clapped for the end of his turn.
Jaylin couldn't contain the excitement she felt that it was only one turn away to come face to face with the almighty Cyber End Dragon. A grin appeared across her lips, deciding to prepare herself for the upcoming battle. She drew her next card, and pumped her fist.
"Alright! Lucky draw! I summon Elemental Hero Bubbleman!" Jaylin declared, instantly summoning her blue Elemental HERO to the field. "Due to its effect, this is a special summon, and I get to draw two cards!" Jaylin drew two cards from her deck to her hand. "And luckily, I have just the monster I need, Elemental HERO Necroshade; I can use Bubbleman as my tribute!" Elemental HERO Bubbleman disappeared, and was replaced by a red armored Elemental HERO with wide shoulder blades and razor sharp claws in a defense position. "I reveal my face-down Rose Bud, and tribute Knospe to bring out my Elemental HERO Poison Rose!" Elemental HERO Knospe began to bloom and, inside the blooming flower, appeared the lovely plant-dressed, white-petal-haired Elemental HERO. "I will end my turn from here by throwing down a face-down." The audience clapped for the end of Jaylin's turn.
At the audience side, all of Zane's and Jaylin's friends watched with curiosity. It seemed strange that Jaylin would summon such weak monsters, whether she was taking the duel seriously or not. Even Alexis couldn't figure her friend out. This was strange to say the least.
"I suppose Jaylin is depending on rising Poison Rose's attack, but Zane's monsters are way too strong for a monster with 1900 attack. Surely, Jaylin would know this," Ronda said.
"Unless she's planning on fusing those two monsters together during Zane's turn. Though, I really can't be sure," Alexis thought.
"Either way, I'm interested in knowing what my girl is planning," Carl thought with such curious eyebrows.
Zane declared, "my Cyber End Dragon is special summoned to the field, due to the effect of Time Fusion." The three-headed Cyber Dragon appeared ferociously onto the field with such boldness. "I'm going to take a wild guess that you know the effects of Cyber End Dragon?"
"Well duh," Jaylin replied, rolling her eyes. Zane's smirk grew wider.
"Thought so," Zane said, then continued where he left off by drawing his next card. "I place this one card face-down, then have my Laser Dragon attack your Poison Rose." Cyber Laser Dragon took a huge gulp of breath, ready to strike at Elemental HERO Poison Rose.
"I activate my trap card, Swamp of the Fallen!" Jaylin declared as a swamp appeared under Cyber Laser Dragon, who sunk deep into the swamp, and its attack points reduced to 1200. The attack on Elemental HERO Poison Rose already commenced as the plant HERO jumped into the air, and kicked the laser blast right back at Cyber Laser Dragon, destroying it in the process. Zane's life points dropped to 2700. "Poison Rose also activates her special ability." Elemental HERO Poison Rose's attack points rose to 2100 and defense points reduced to 1800.
"Excellent, but part of your monster's ability is also that I have to attack ONLY Poison Rose, and she doesn't seem like she's in a good position against Cyber End Dragon," Zane pointed out as Cyber End Dragon began its attack on Elemental HERO Poison Rose. The plant Elemental HERO was obliterated by the electric blast of Cyber End Dragon, leaving Jaylin with 1500 life points remaining.
"I activate Hero Signal and bring out Elemental HERO Lady Heat from my deck!" Jaylin smirked as the firey woman Elemental HERO appeared boldly, an H signal in bold red appearing like the Bat Signal from Batman.
"I suppose I end my turn," Zane declared before the audience clapped for the end of his turn.
Jaylin smirked, drawing her next card, then declared, "Sweetness! I use Polymerization to fuse Lady Heat with Necroshade to bring out Elemental Hero Escuridao!" Elemental HERO Lady Heat and Elemental HERO Necroshade fused together in the light, and appeared as the black Elemental HERO with wings. The audience awed, then applauded loudly for the summon of the powerful dark monster. "And, his attack goes up!" Due to the effect of Elemental HERO Escuridao, its attack rose up to 3300.
"Smart comeback, though you don't have enough monsters in your graveyard for your Escuridao to stand against my Cyber End Dragon," Zane pointed out.
"I know," Jaylin replied. "I end my turn." The audience clapped for the end of her turn.
Zane drew his next card, then declared, "Lucky for us, I just drew Card of Sanctity!" Him and Jaylin kept drawing until they each had six cards. "I place two cards face-down, then have Cyber End Dragon attack your Escuridao!" Cyber End Dragon took a huge gulp of breath, then began blasting an electric blast from its mouth toward Elemental HERO Escuridao, bursting it from the field, and leaving Jaylin with 800 life points remaining. "I end my turn." The audience clapped for the end of Zane's turn.
"Thanks for giving me extra cards, by the way," Jaylin thanked, drawing her next card. "I play Monster Reborn to return Escuridao to the field!" Elemental HERO Escuridao returned boldly to the field. "I throw down two face-down's..." Two cards were placed face-down. "... then, I summon Winged Kuriboh, before also adding an additional summon of Stratos, due to the special ability of Necroshade!" First, Winged Kuriboh was instantly summoned to the field, then Elemental HERO Stratos. "I will have Stratos attack you directly, due to its ability, then end my turn!" Elemental HERO Stratos' attack dropped to 900 before flying up in the air, then shooting directly at Zane. His life points dropped to 1800 before the audience clapped for the end of Jaylin's turn.
Zane drew his next card, then looked directly at his hand. He declared, "I'm not stupid. The first monster I'm getting rid of is your Winged Kuriboh." Cyber End Dragon took a huge gulp of breath, blasting away Winged Kuriboh, who let out a loud "KURI!" in response before being blasted away. "I end my turn." The audience clapped for the end of his turn.
"Good move. If you had not gotten rid of Winged Kuriboh, I would've summoned Winged Kuriboh Level 9 by my next turn," Jaylin replied, drawing her next card.
"As I said, I'm not stupid. Of all duelists, I should know better than to underestimate the weak."
"Because of Syrus, or were you seriously weak at one point?"
"Cute," Zane smirked in response before showing a more serious face. "I believe it's your turn."
"Right," Jaylin replied, looking at her hand. "I'll start by activating Skyscraper!" The buildings of New York City began shooting up from the field, making the audience awe.
"I activate my trap card Rare Metalmorph," Zane declared as some sort of coating metal covered Cyber End Dragon, raising its attack to 4500.
"I had a feeling you'd try that, which is why I activate my two spell cards. First, I activate R – Righteous Justice to get rid of your face-down cards..." Jaylin smirked, activating her face-down spell card, as Zane's eyes widened, watching his two face-down cards burst from the field. "... then, I activate my other spell card from my hand, H – Heated Hero to raise Escuridao's attack!" Elemental HERO Escuridao's attack rose to 3800. "Now, time for my super awesome attack!" Elemental HERO Escuridao flew up into the air, then shot a blast of dark energy at Cyber End Dragon. Due to the effect of Skyscraper, its attack immediately rose to 4800. Cyber End Dragon broke into scrap before bursting from the field. Zane was left with 1500 life points remaining.
"Great duel, Jaylin. You're a strong duelist, and I expect alot from you in the finals."
"GOTCHA!" Jaylin winked, shooting her two fingers from her forehead to Zane before Elemental HERO Stratos attacked Zane directly, leaving him with 0 life points remaining.
"AND JAYLIN YUKI WINS THE DUEL, AND WILL BE QUALIFIED TO DUEL AS THE REPRESENTATIVE OF OUR SCHOOL IN THE GRANT HIGH SCHOOL DUEL TOURNAMENT!" Dr. Crowler announced as the entire audience stood up from their seats, screaming and cheering for Jaylin's victory.
Jaylin ran directly to her dance team, who had a big banner with her name on it, jumping over the wall to join them. Zane could only shake his head, while rolling his eyes. He sighed, then walked down, going through the double doors to rejoin with his friends on the other side.
A/N: I just realized that I messed up on Elemental HERO Bubbleman's second effect. I can't really change it, so I'm kinda screwing the rules here. I apologize for this. I was multitasking at the time, so... yeah.
