Anonymous Review 1 (Tsukiyami): That was actually the idea. I wanted to confuse my audience a bit on what was going on with Ronda, so they could experience what Ronda was experiencing. She didn't just blackout like in those cliche detective movies. What happened was that Ronda just went to sleep, and when she woke up, she was inside that cave. That's why she was in her shirt and underwear.
Okay Tsukiyami, though you could put that in your title name when you review my stuff. That would help :) and don't worry about the other anonymous. It wasn't the facts I had a problem with. He/She was was making fun of me. If he/she only corrected me by pointing out those errors without mocking me, even if this person would've just pointed out the way I spelled "Your welcome," I would've been more civil. But, because he/she also added "what is bloody America teaching kids now and days?" it makes me believe this person KNEW "your welcome" was the proper way of spelling that in America, and is just making fun of me for it.
Next chapter! I won't show what happened during the Tournament Jaylin plays against the other schools, being that it has nothing to do with the plot, though there is something I will add to what happened during Jaylin's winter break. I hope you enjoy.
Also, the 400th reviewer is Sanokal. Now, whoever Ronda or Carl will be paired with will be up to him. I don't want any of you to make suggestions or ask me or him who the requested pairing is going to be. The requested pairing will gradually be revealed as time goes by. You will have to keep guessing. Only Sanokal and I will know. Review please!
Jaylin, five years old, was sitting on the floor of the clean living room watching cartoons. She was watching Ponyo, since she had never watched this movie before. It was a new adventure for her to live in the house of Yugi Moto. Well... sort of a home. It was actually an apartment, but it was home to Jaylin, at least now.
Since Yugi was still asleep, Jaylin decided to watch some TV, and let him sleep in peace. Jaylin didn't want to wake her new father up, after just moving in. She was happy here, and the last thing she wanted, after all the convincing she did to make Yugi her new father, was to mess this up. It was her mission to make her new Daddy proud. So, being a good little girl, she decided to let him sleep, and watch some TV. Surely, Yugi would be happy.
Suddenly, Jaylin felt her stomach turning. She was hungry. Happily, she dashed quietly into the kitchen. There was no dog she had to worry about, so she didn't have to tip-toe or think about hiding in the bathroom. She was even happier when she opened the refrigerator, her jaw dropping at all the food inside. There was ham, cheese, sticky rice, pudding, jello and all kinds of goodies.
Jaylin reached in for a small cup of jello, then got out a small teaspoon to eat with. She also got herself a small can of soda. This was probably the best breakfast she ever had in her life. This was only the first week of her stay! Yugi would normally make Jaylin breakfast like rice balls, toast and jelly or some quick scrambled eggs. Though, this was fine. Life just could not get any better than this!
As Jaylin was kicking her legs playfully, the table she was eating on began to jiggle, and her cup of milk began tipping over. Luckily, she caught her cup in time, but some of the milk spilled on the white rugged floor. She gasped quietly, realizing that she made a mess. She didn't want Yugi to be upset about the mess she made, so she decided to clean it up.
Jaylin searched through the drawers quietly, and found a kitchen rag. She then quickly walked to the small laundry mat on the other side of the hallway across from the living room. There were cleaners on the shelf above the washer and dryer. While Jaylin barely knew how to read, she knew to use the spray bottle that was the color brown to clean the rug. It had a name she couldn't pronounce called Peroxide. This is what her teacher at the orphanage used to clean up small spots on rugs.
She began lifting herself up, climbing on top of the washer to reach the brown spray bottle. She finally grabbed it, then quickly dropped down. She pushed the laundry mat door, which hit against a shelf with nicknacks, a picture of Yugi and his friends in high school making silly faces at the very front. The picture dropped down, then shattered into thousands of glass shards.
Jaylin jumped and turned, realizing what she had done. That was a picture of Yugi and his high school friends, a precious item to him. Fear swept through Jaylin, emotions bursting through her eyes as she did her best to hold in the wailing cry to not wake up Yugi. What was the point? He'd certainly be mad at Jaylin, then take her back to her parents for breaking such a precious item like that.
Suddenly, Jaylin's soft sobs turned into painful cries. She dropped the rag and cleaning bottle, curling into a small ball as painful hot tears trailed down her cheeks. She was scared and hurt at the same time. What had she done? Why wasn't she careful?
"Princess!" Jaylin heard Yugi, her voice hitching as she ran quickly toward the laundry mat. Suddenly... "JAYLIN DON'T!" She felt herself being picked up and taken away from the area of broken glass.
"I'M SORRY! I'M SORRY! PLEASE DON'T TAKE ME OUTSIDE!" Jaylin screamed, crying her heart out, while trying to squirm herself out of Yugi's arms.
"Wha- Princess, shhh, listen to me," Yugi said in a calm voice, placing Jaylin away from the living room and into the bedroom, setting her down afterward. Once she saw she wasn't being taken outside, she stopped fighting, confused. She looked up as Yugi caressed her face. "Shhhhh... don't cry. I'm not going to take you outside, you understand?" Jaylin nodded, still crying, wiping her tears. "I was only getting you away from the glass. You could've hurt yourself, if you stepped on broken glass. You see?"
"A-Aren't you mad? I-I-I broke that picture."
"Of course not. Why would you think I'd be mad over that?" Yugi asked, then his face turned dark. "Did your parents get mad at you for breaking their stuff?" Jaylin nodded, then Yugi wiped her tears, then kissed her cheek. Yugi then hugged her. "I can buy another picture frame, take another picture with my friends, and buy any of the things I have inside this house." Yugi then looked at Jaylin straight in the eye, caressing her face once more. "I cannot buy another Jaylin Yuki, if she gets broken." Jaylin nodded, then Yugi sighed. "So, why didn't you wake me up?"
Jaylin stared at Yugi, oh so confused. She replied, "I didn't want to wake you from your sleep. Nobody likes being woken up."
"Jaylin..." Yugi said in a calm and stern voice, still caressing Jaylin's face. "I want you to wake me up. I cannot know what's happening to you, if I'm not awake. Someone could break in and take you away, and I wouldn't know it. An earthquake could strike, and I wouldn't be there to protect you." Jaylin stared at Yugi wide-eyed. "I want you to wake me up from now on, when you wake up. I can't buy another Jaylin Yuki, so I will be mad, if she breaks."
Jaylin nodded, then cried some more, this time of overwhelming joy. She cried, "I love you, Daddy!" She held Yugi tightly, as he carried the young girl in his arms, sitting on the bed. He rocked her, slowly closing his eyes in sweet relief. It was at that moment that Jaylin KNEW Yugi was in love with her. There was a calming pause before Jaylin asked, "how much do you love me?"
"I can't say, but I will never put anything before you. I will fight for you, and if you ever leave, my doors will always be open. They will never shut you out."
Jaylin sobbed, then nuzzled her face in Yugi's chest, feeling Yugi's strong arms of protection. She never felt safer anywhere else.
Jaylin, in the middle of Christmas morning at six-o-lock, dragged her feet onto the porch of the apartment in her pink robe, a black night gown underneath. It was ice cold outside, almost like walking inside an ice cube. Though, Jaylin wanted to be out here for this morning. She had socks and slippers on, since it was extremely cold outside. She couldn't help, but stare at the morning sky, which was colored pink and gold.
She didn't know how long she had been outside, but it didn't feel that long before Yugi joined in.
"Why are you out here? You usually never wake up this early," Yugi asked.
"Thinking about some things..." Jaylin muttered. She got out a Duel Monsters card from inside her robe pocket, which was an Orichalcose card. "Are you mad at me?"
"No," Yugi replied calmly, gently taking the card from Jaylin's hands. He smiled, chuckling sarcastically. "After all of these years, and yet you still ask me that question."
Jaylin looked back up at the sky, letting out a calm sigh. She replied, "I guess I just need a reminder sometimes."
"Of what?"
"The feeling," Jaylin replied plainly. She folded her arms, still gazing upon the colorful sky. "What I felt when I first realized you loved me."
Yugi smiled, side-hugging Jaylin, as he said, "I'll always love you until the end of time."
"Happy Christmas."
"Happy Christmas, Princess," Yugi whispered happily, then looked at the Orichalchose card, piercing his lips. "You know... this can be quite handy, when it's not being used to steal souls."
Jaylin turned her eyes, gazing at the green card. She took the card with her index finger and thumb as it instantly morphed into a green stone that laid inside the palm of her hand... glowing. A smile grew across her lips, clasping the stone inside.
With that, she walked straight inside the house, leaving Yugi with a proud smile across his face.
Jaylin returned to her bed, and as she slept, a figure slowly walked to her. This figure carefully took the green stone from her hand and into her own. This figure was Jezerel, a perfect replica of Jaylin in a black dress with a poofy skirt. A smile appeared across her face.
"About time you let me use this thing," Jezerel said, the stone glowing, then a green orichalcose circle appearing on her forehead. "Now, I can finally get that shadow charm in the lava." She transformed into a shadow and disappeared into the night.
