Chapter 14: Mikasa vs. Kisame part 1
"Arashi-Kun (future Naruto), wake up!" Mikasa (future Hinata) tried to wake up her fiancé, only to have the opposite result. When she started shaking her still-sleeping lover, he gripped her arm and pulled her back into bed with him, effectively annoying her. She sighed in frustration. Suddenly, a sly smirk reached her features. With a plan in mind, Hinata crawled out of his embrace and reached her hand towards the window. Once there, she completely opened the blinds. Now, one might wonder 'What would doing something as trivial as opening the blinds do to a hardened ninja?' And in most cases, they would have been correct. Arashi squinted his already-closed eyelids as the intense morning sunrays hit him. He suddenly jerked his head up, only to meet a bucket of water to the face. Resulting in three things. An annoyed huff from Arashi, who was crying fake anime tears, a laughing Mikasa, and a drenched bed.
15 minutes later…
Arashi, now fully awake and dressed, was wandering around the house until he suddenly froze. He quickly ran to a nearby room, and found a calendar on top of a nightstand. When he looked at the date, he silently cursed. Today was the day of the battle on the bridge.
He ran back to his room, and was greeted by a fully dressed Mikasa. She seemed to have sensed his worry, and immediately sprang up.
"Arashi-Kun, what's wrong?" she asked urgently. He ran towards his nightstand and grabbed his ninja pouch and his other weapons. "Mikasa-Chan, c'mon we have to hurry!"
"OK, but to where Arashi-Kun? What's going on?"
"There is no time, I'll brief you on the way. Oh, and before we leave, Make sure to leave a shadow clone to watch over Inari and Tsunami. In our timeline, Gato's thugs managed to almost take Tsunami as a hostage."
Team 7 and Tazuna had left earlier. Apparently, the old bridge builder wanted to start putting the finishing touches on the bridge. As the completion of the bridge draws near, every resident of Wave, from the children to the adults, seemed to shine in happiness. Gato's tyranny was knew no limits. The small island has become secluded from the elemental nations for quite a long time.
After grabbing all of their weapons, they ran out of the house. Arashi very urgently, and Mikasa confused. As they began jumping from branch to branch, Arashi decided it was the ideal time to brief her. Once finished, they suddenly started increasing their speed with chakra.
As Arashi and Mikasa were sped towards the bridge, they both suddenly tensed as they sensed a chakra spike, and it was massive. However, the strangest part of it was that it wasn't Kakashi's, or even Zabuza's chakra. Arashi deduced that right away, but he had felt this chakra before. It reminded him of... oh no.
'What the hell is KISAME HOSHIGAKI doing here?!' Arashi was confident that he could beat him rather easily, but he was extremely worried that Kisame had allied himself with the likes of Gato. That, and the fact that the timeline seems to be really different than his own. Since when could Sasuke use Madara's favorite Katon jutsu like that? In his timeline, he hadn't met kisame until his journey with Jiraiya to find Tsunade.
He recalled that Akatsuki agents always travelled in two-man cells, and Kisame was partnered with Itachi Uchiha. Now, Arashi knew that with his experience and arsenal of techniques, could beat both of them. He wouldn't have to worry about that however. He knew that his fiancé could easily handle Kisame, but the problem was that the backlash of all the battles, Kakashi against Zabuza, Mikasa against Kisame. Naruto, Sasuke, and Hinata vs. Haku, and himself vs. Itachi would definitely damage, if not completely destroy the bridge.
"Mikasa, once we get to the bridge, take Kisame and face him somewhere else. I'm sure you've also noted that the upcoming battles will be too devastating for the bridge to handle. Kakashi will fight Zabuza, I will take Itachi. Our counterparts and Sasuke will fight Haku. You and I will leave a shadow clone each to protect Tazuna."
She simply nodded, with a foreboding expression plastered on her face. She was worried, plain and simple. But not for herself, Kakashi, or Arashi. She was worried about the genin. She was aware that Arashi has been thoroughly training them, but it was Sasuke she was worried for the most. In her timeline, Sasuke went absolutely nuts at the mere mention of Itachi's name. If he was to see Itachi now…
She ruthlessly crushed such thoughts. There was no point in pondering the obvious. She suddenly gasped. The shadow clone that she left behind dispersed. Arashi must have heard her gasp, and solemnly said… "Two thugs tried to take Tsunami." It was more of a statement as he had witnessed it first-hand in their timeline. One could not be too sure of what this timeline held in store for everybody, that, they were both sure of.
Flashback-Shadow clone's memories.
Mikasa could only sigh. She knew what her mission was. Being a shadow clone sure was a strange existence. She felt like she could speak for all of her brethren. She shifted uncomfortably in the tree branch near Tazuna's house. After her boss and Arashi left, she decided to scope out the surrounding area. She noticed all the crisscrossed slash marks on every tree trunk. It was the same symbol Arashi told her to be wary of right before he left.
She was brought out of her thoughts when she noticed to men walking leisurely towards Tazuna's house. They seemed completely care free. It was a near comical sight. As if anyone wielding a katana and sporting multiple scars could considered care-free. She noticed how the taller of the two men seemed to recline his right arm a bit. It was a quirk that most katana-wielders seemed to develop. It meant only one thing. This guy was ready for anything.
The smaller one began talking quietly, but Mikasa heard every word. He seemed to be extremely cocky and confident… Two of the most deadly attributes to have in the shinobi world. Once they reached the front door, the taller one simply took out his katana and slashed it down in a simple vertical arch. It was time to act. She was about to spring down and end their lives, until she remembered what Arashi told her.
"Mikasa-chan, once you see the two samurai, don't engage them immediately. Wait until they have Tsunami captive, and then directly confront them. I want Inari to regain his belief in heroes. Teach him a lesson he will never forget. I'm counting on you!"
As the two samurai and a tied up Tsunami came out of the house, they seemed to be followed by a crying Inari. Upon closer inspection, he seemed to be desperate. It didn't take a genius to figure out why. These two samurai could end his life in a second if they wanted to.
"LET GO OF MY MOM! He scream to the heavens. Tsunami looked terrified, and the two samurai simply started snorting and laughing in amusement. It was truly a horrible sound.
This only managed to further enrage Inari, as he started running blindly at them. "NO INARI, RUN AWAY, STOP IT!" She screamed in terror. It seemed as if her screams fell upon deaf ears. They didn't… Inari heard every word. He just would not sit there and cry. He will fight, for his mom. He must protect her.
As Inari reached the tallest samurai, time seemed to slow down. He threw a punch at the bandit's stomach, while the bandit swung his sword down in a diagonal arch. Seemingly honing in on Inari's neck.
Mikasa sprang into action. She sped towards Inari and the samurai. After Inari blinked, he seemed puzzled as to why Arashi's fiancé was here. He didn't have that much tie to be puzzled as she suddenly grabbed him and back pedaled away from the samurai, who simply sneered at her. His sneer changed into a massive grin a second later, effectively confusing everyone. Then… "Mikasa, WATCH OUT." Inari and his mom screamed at the same time. Mikasa was already aware. To her, fighting thugs like these two is completely child's play. Honing in on her right side was the smaller of the samurai's sword. He seemed to be wielding a normal katana. Now it was her turn to grin. She pulled out a kunai, reinforced the blade with chakra, and then sprung it up against his sword. His sword was completely cut in half. He only had a second to widen his eyes, before he felt her grab his neck. After that, he knew no more. To the spectators, it looked like he simply dropped dead.
The other samurai seemed genuinely frightened at the scene that just unfolded in front him. His shock didn't last long, as a searing pain shot up his right side. He only felt it for about 5 seconds, as he soon dropped dead as well. Inari and Tsunami simply watched in a combination of shock and awe.
"Are you guys OK?" questioned Mikasa.
"Uh, we are now, thank you Mikasa-Chan!" Tsunami was bowing gratefully and Inari was hugging her. She felt happy knowing they weren't in any danger. It didn't last long, as she knew it was time to dispel.
"Don't worry about it." She exclaimed with a grin. She turned to Inari. "I am but a simple shadow clone. Boss and Arashi wanted me to stay here just in case. Now that you guys are safe, I can dispel. See you later"
End Flashback
The two lovers simultaneously landed on the bridge. Mikasa had to do a double-take, but Arashi simply frowned at the sight. Bodies were thrown and abundant all over the bridge. Most workers looked dead. Standing in the middle of the carnage was the tail-less tailed beast, Kisame Hoshigaki. He was smiling so sadistically, that it could've practically made a grown man pee his pants. If one would try hard enough, they may notice Itachi sitting on the bridge's railing. He looked as if whatever Kisame was doing was an everyday occurrence.
Truth be told, it probably was. After about 10 seconds of both parties staring each other down, Itachi broke the silence. "Kisame, fall back." Kisame laughed fiendishly, but obeyed itachi. "Even though we have not receive that much Intel on these two, don't let your guard down. As I'm sure you can tell, that blonde male has a lot of chakra than both of us combined. That woman has chakra levels that rival mine."
While Kisame and Itachi were talking amongst themselves, Arashi and Mikasa were also in a conversation. "Mikasa-Chan, please be careful." She looked determined. "I will Arashi-Kun. The same goes for you!" He nodded his head. She then headed for kisame at an alarming speed, but nothing he couldn't follow. HE parried her kunai with Samehada. "Ho? You want to fall to my blade next, woman? Samehada likes your chakra." During their power struggle, Mikasa couldn't even believe the amount of strength this man had. The only reason she wasn't losing this power exchange was because she was using chakra to augment her strength.
Kisame wasn't. She did jump back though as he had swung his leg around to meet her face. Just barely avoiding it, she recovered immediately. Remembering Arashi's request, she dashed off into the forest on the other side of the bridge. As she thought, Kisame was right behind her. He seemed to be in thought.
Once she found an area she thought was far enough, she stopped. So did Kisame.
The only difference was that samehada did not. It was flying at her at insane speeds, but she managed to avoid a fatal wound. However, its sharp scales managed to leave a deep cut on her left arm. Kisame began to laugh again.
She inspected said cut, and noticed there was a fair amount of blood leaking from it. She also noticed that she had lost a bit of control over her left arm. Closing her eyes, she took a deep breath. When she opened them, the famed byakugan blazed to life.
Kisame felt her chakra spike, and seemed to blanch a bit. Sure, Itachi said her chakra rivaled his, but never did the think she could raise it this much. Blocking out his worry, he rushed over to her. She seemed to be too slow, but as his fist was almost two inches from her face, she disappeared. Kisame recovered immediately. He found her standing on a nearby branch.
"Well, well, looks like you're quite the opponent. But let's see you evade this!' He formed handsigns at a ridiculous pace. "Suiton: Suikodan no Jutsu." No sooner after he uttered the words, a massive shark like creature formed around his hands. With a flick of his fingers, he sent it forward. As it flew to Mikasa at unbelievable speed, she realized she couldn't dodge it, so she formed a Hakkesho Kaiten.
After winning against the water shark, she released the rotation. Only to come face to face with Kisame's fist, and the world turned upside down.
