A Pair of Friendly Giant Rivals

Usopp and Nami were facing a humanoid Giant.

The giant was wearing a hundred years old style armor and helmet, and had a blonde beard.

"Hi there! My name is Broggy!" greeted the giant, "Do you have any rum?"

"Y... yes… we do have some," Nami replied.

"Oooh! Can I have some?" Broggy asked.

"S… Sure," Nami agreed.

"I'm not even sure if we have enough rum to serve him," Usopp said.

"We'll just improvise!" Nami responded.

Suddenly a Tyrannosaurus came out of nowhere and bit Broggy on the butt, causing him to yell in pain.

Broggy took out an ax and cut the dinosaur's head off.

Nami and Usopp screamed in terror because of Broggy screaming, and that was a man-eating dinosaur.

"I am the strongest fighter!" Broggy hollered, "Now! How about a I treat you two to some meat as my guest.

Nami and Usopp were playing dead on the deck to the ship.

"There's no way my haki would work on that guy! I just need to play dead," Usopp thought.

"Just pretend to be dead," Nami thought.

Broggy look at them and grew a big grin, which on a giant was huge.

Luffy looked up to his savior, who was a humanoid giant that was wearing a hundred year old fashion armor and helmet, even had an old sword, and had a brown long beard.

"What a cheerful human you are! I haven't met a person like you for a while," the giant laughed.

"Wow! A giant!" Luffy responded.

"My name is Dorry! I'm the greatest fighter of my village!" the giant introduced himself, "Who may you be?"

"My name is Monkey D. Luffy, and I'm going to be King of the Pirates and the Greatest Haki User ever!" Luffy responded.

Vivi and Moi were watching in complete shock as Carue passed out in complete terror.

"A Giant," Moi responded.

"This is the first time I saw one," Vivi responded.

"I would like to ask for you and your friends to come to my house for some meat!" Dori requested.

"Sure!" Luffy agreed, especially since there was going to be some meat.

…Broggy's House…

A large chunk of dinosaur was roasting in a huge bon-fire with several smaller chunks of meat roasting next to the fire.

Broggy had tricked Usopp and Nami out of their trick by grabbing them and taking them to his house.

What scared them the most was the skeletons nearby.

"Please feel confortable. Dinosaur meat is really good," Broggy offered.

"We don't want any," Nami and Usopp replied as they feared the meat was to fatten them up to be eaten later.

Broggy noticed that they kept staring at the skeletons and laughed.

"Oh don't worry! I'm not going to eat you!" Broggy laughed, "Those skeletons are just from the unfortunate souls that couldn't get off this island. I'm not even sure how they die. It seems every time I leave my home and come back, there are bodies."

"Um! What do you mean by 'unfortunate souls that couldn't leave this island?" Nami asked.

"Well, you see. It takes a year for a log post to read this island's magnetic field," Broggy explained.

Usopp and Nami fell over when they heard that.

"A year?" Nami and Usopp yelled.

"Yeah! And I guess since dinosaurs aren't found in that many islands, they don't know how to avoid being hunted by the carnivorous dinosaurs. Especially the Raptors. Unless you have a way to predict their movements, you would die on the spot."

"That's reassuring," Nami responded as she thought, "This must be what Ms. All Sunday meant."

"So I guess since you're bigger than most dinosaurs, it wouldn't matter for Giants like you," Usopp responded.

"That's right!" Broggy laughed.

…Dorry's House…

Luffy had traded lunch with his new giant friend.

"This meat is really good, Mr. Giant!" Luffy commented.

"Your lunchbox is good too!" Dorry laughed.

"But it's too small. It must be good though. Otherwise, I will beat you up!" Luffy responded.

"You are a very interesting person!" Dorry laughed.

"It's like they know each other for years," Vivi said as she Carue and Moi watched from a safe distance.

"I agree," Moi responded.

"By the way, why are you alone?" Luffy asked, "Don't you have a village?"

"I do have a village. It's located somewhere in the Grand Line. But we have a rule in our village. If a fight occurs in our village and no one says sorry, we will listen to our god, and wait out for the result of his decision. I'm waiting for the result. This island is the place where I fought with another giant. The right person will become the winner and live," Dorry said, "However, it's been a hundred years and we still don't know the result!"

Dorry laughed at the last statement.

"You fought a hundred years ago?!" Luffy responded.

"Don't panic. A giant's lifespan is three times greater than a human," Dorry replied with a chuckle.

Now Vivi had to speak up.

"Even with that, you should have forgot about the cause by now! What will you get from this fight?" Vivi asked, "That's just another name for murder!"

The volcano in the background erupted as if something just awoken it.

"Ah! Volcano Eruption! I have to go fight now!" Dorry said as he got up to leave, "It's fighting time again. A volcano eruption is the signal to start the fight."

"What have you done? Why do you have to fight for a hundred years? What is the purpose of this fight anyway?" Vivi kept asking until Luffy covered her mouth.

"It's not like what you think," Moi told Vivi.

"That's right! It's about pride," Luffy explained.

Broggy came out from the distance.

Both Dorry and Broggy took out their weapons and shields and clashed with each other.

Luffy fell on his back.

"What's wrong with you?" Vivi asked.

"This is gigantic," Luffy replied.

Dorry and Broggy kept fighting to the death.

Usopp and Nami watched in complete shock.

"It is the most outrageous fight! Both of them aim for the death spot of each other," Usopp said.

"And they've been doing this for a hundred years," Nami responded, "But this is a good chance to go Usopp," Nami said.

"This is so great!" Usopp ignored her.

"Usopp!" Nami complained.

Usopp remembered what Broggy told him just a while ago.

…Flashback…

"I've already forgetten why we fight!" Broggy laughed.

…End of Flashback…

"To fight without a cause," Usopp said.

"But that's the most stupid fight I ever heard of," Nami said.

"No! This is a real man's fight!" Usopp responded.

"What are you talking about?" Nami asked.

"I'll give you an easy explanation. In both of their hearts, there is a flag of pride, and both of them think that flags are more important than their lives. To protect those flags, they have to continued fighting for a hundred years," Usopp explained, "Don't you get it? This is a fight of pride and honor as a real fighter and a real man!"

"I don't care about that. We'd better get out of here now," Nami responded.

"I want to stay here for a while," Usopp said, "This is exactly what I wanted to be. The greatest warrior of the seas. I want to grow up to be a proud and honorable person just like them. If there is a great warrior village, I want to visit that place once in my life."

Nami sighed and sat down at the log.

Dorry and Broggy beaten each other into a tie, which was their 73,466th tied.

Both giants laughed loudly.

"Hey Dorry! I got some rum from my guest! Do you want some?" Broggy asked.

"That's great. I have not had any rum in a while. Just give me some!" Dorry agreed.

Dorry picked up rum from Broggy's place, grabbed some barrels of rum, met Usopp and Nami, and headed back to his place.

Of course, Dorry told Luffy that he met Nami and Usopp.

Luffy told Dorry that Usopp and Nami were friends of his.

"So, his guest are your friends, huh?" Dorry asked.

"Yeah, but they told us they wouldn't get off the ship," Luffy replied.

"They probably didn't had much of a choice," Moi said.

"So this means that I received this rum from you too," Dorry responded.

"Umm… Mr. Dorry. You said that it will take a year to memorize this island's magnetic field. Is that true?" Vivi asked.

"You saw all those human skulls didn't you? Most of the people who came here died before their Log Post could memorize the magnetic field," Dorry explained, "Some were eaten by dinosaurs. Some died because of heat stroke and starvation. Some came here to kill us. Finally, they all died. It seems that one year is too long for a small human."

"What am I going to do to survive for a year? What will happened to my country during that time?" Vivi cried.

"It'll be fine, Princess Vivi. We'll get off this island somehow," Moi responded.

"Weren't there any person who manage to get off this island?" Luffy aksed.

"Well, there were few who manage to get an eternal post, but I haven't seen them since, and considering most humans don't make it off the island, I assumed they died," Dorry explained.

"It didn't occur to you that they might have succeeded in leaving this island alive?" Moi asked.

"No! I guess not!" Dorry responded with a laugh, "We do have one eternal post that leads to my hometown. But it's our prize for winning our battle."

"We won't take your eternal post," Luffy responded, "Besides, we don't want to go there."

"If we can't get to Alabasta, I'm afraid of the consequences," Vivi said.

"Then why don't you just go there! If you're lucky, you might reach the next island with a shorter time frame for the log post to memorize the magnetic field!" Dorry laughed.

"Wait! How would that work?" Luffy asked.

"If a log post is taken to another island without first memorizing the magetic field of the island it was pointing to, the Log Post can memorize that island's magnetic field instead as long as you stay on that island for the required time to do that," Moi explained, "It was made to do that incase a pirate ends up on a different island than planned due to lack of knowledge of how to navigate through the Grand Line."

"Oh! So why don't we just do that?" Luffy asked.

"It's not that simple Luffy. Navigating through the Grand Line while the Log Post hasn't reset is dangerous," Vivi responded, "Remember what happened on the way to Whiskey Peak after Nami took her eyes off the log post for just a second?"

"Yeah! We got all turned around," Luffy replied.

"And we ended up caught in a storm while trying to regain our course," Vivi responded, "Although the first part of the Grand Line is considered the most chaotic when it comes to weather changes, the rest of the Grand Line is still chaotic and unpredictable to travel without a propperly set log post, without an eternal post too guide you."

"Well that's just ridiculous," Luffy responded.

"What do you expect from the Grand Line?" Moi asked.

Usopp was complementing Broggy for his and Dorry's battle.

"The Great Warrior? What do you mean?" Broggy asked.

"It means that one day, I will be like you," Usopp replied.

"A giant?" Broggy asked confuse.

Nami laughed at Broggy's response.

"No! I just want to live with pride and honor like the fighters of your village," Usopp explained.

Broggy burst out laughing.

"Really? My lifespan is greater than yours, so I expected to die with pride. All the treasure in the world is nothing," Broggy laughed, "But pride is forever! If I can choose, I want to die with pride. As my god says, 'Pride and honor is the treasure that last forever'."

"Pride and honor are treasures," Usopp responded.

Sudenly there was an explosion in the background.

"What was that?" Nami and Usopp yelled.

"It sounds like it was coming from Dorry's place," Broggy said.

"Should we check on him?" Nami asked.

"No! Dorry won't be taken down that easy," Broggy responded.

"Still! That explosion doesn't sound natural, and right after the battle too," Usopp responded.

"Could this whole thing be planned?" Nami asked.
