Anonymous Review: It is true that the Yu-Gi-Oh GX anime isn't cannon to the season 0 Yu-Gi-Oh storyline, but the manga version of Yu-Gi-Oh GX does and this story has some of the GX manga mixed into it. The Shadow Games are one of them and you can't tell me that the manga version of Yu-Gi-Oh GX doesn't stick to the Shadow Games or cannon of season 0. Now, I did place this fan fiction under the anime world, but that's because this is mainly based off of the anime and there is no possible way for me to show it to be a crossover with the manga. This should have been obvious, since the class system is based off of the GX manga and characters like Bastion and Jaylin were based off of their manga versions, while the decks of Bastion, Alexis and Jaylin were based off of their manga characters' decks.
Despite all of that, the biggest complaint you have is the fact I used the duels from season 0, claiming that if I wanted to make the Shadow Games like season 0, I should make it a crossover with Yu-Gi-Oh... no. If I was to read a Yugioh fan fiction that was a crossover with Yugioh GX and Yugioh with no Yugioh characters, except the ones that appeared in Yugioh GX, with the only thing that the story had in common with Yu-Gi-Oh was the Shadow Games, I would call it BS. If the story does not crossover with Yugioh or the characters, then it's not a Yugioh story. Just because this story has Shadow Games based off of Yu-Gi-Oh season 0, doesn't make it a crossover with Yu-Gi-Oh. If there was a Pokemon fan fiction that had the same characters, followed the same story line, took place in the same universe, but with one character from Attack on Titan, that would not make it a crossover with Attack on Titan. I have to believe that the two stories really are colliding, that the universes are colliding, not taking an idea or a character from another show. Also, using an idea from another show or series doesn't make it a bad idea. It's only bad when it's executed poorly and, so far, you never mentioned any problem about the execution of it, only that it's there. That's nitpicking.

Sorry for taking so long with this. I had to make a few fixes with my chapter of To the Unknown 2. Though, I am still continuing this fic. I will also be working for my next chapter of A War That Shouldn't Have Started. Review please!

Chazz was sitting in his desk in class, secretly watching Jaylin talk to Ronda and Carl. He really liked Jaylin and had liked her for a long time. He had tried spending some time with her, but she always had other plans. She also seemed aware of his feelings, but didn't seem to return them. Jaylin wasn't deciding to be Chazz's girlfriend like she did with Belowski. Still, there was the slim chance she might consider giving Chazz a chance.

Love is sure complicated. Well, Chazz couldn't really call it love. For one, him and Jaylin have only known each other for a good couple of months. It hadn't been a whole year. Second, a crush doesn't mean love. Possibly close friends, maybe arguably a bit more, but not really to the point of being in love. There was also so little he could do to show how much he cared for Jaylin. It wasn't like he was allowed to knock on her door and offer to clean her room or something. He had to get an invite to even cross to the Slifer Red Dorm and anything he offered to do for Jaylin could only go as far as help her clean the classroom.

Chazz practically groaned at the thought that he had almost no chance in winning Jaylin's heart, but the chance was still there. He wished that it was like the movies where the girl and the guy just had to confess their feelings and they'd be together. Chazz really liked Jaylin and she didn't seem to like him back. Jaylin didn't outright say it to Chazz, but he would like it if she did, then maybe it wouldn't drive him crazy.

Something bothering you that I can help you with?" Chazz heard a voice from behind him that almost made him jump. He glared at the guy, who was Atticus.

"Could you not do that!?" Chazz snapped. Atticus just chuckled in response.

"Sorry, if I startled you. I just noticed that you seem annoyed about something and I feel the need to help you. You know I'm available for tutoring."

"It's not about homework. It's something else."

"Like what?"

"... nothing."

"If you say so," Atticus shrugged. "I'm here, if you need anything."

Chazz was deep in thought. Atticus was good with schoolwork, but he was also good with women and catching girls. Maybe he could help. Chazz sighed. He didn't have any ideas and Atticus was the best person he could have to teach him how to win Jaylin's heart, even if the chance was slim. What did he have to lose? What was the worst that could happen? Jaylin already knew of Chazz's feelings, so losing her friendship or making it awkward wasn't the issue.

"Actually, I need help with one thing," Chazz sighed, turning his chair around.

"Oh?" Atticus replied, head perked up.

"Um... I guess everyone knows about my crush on Jaylin. I... well, I was wondering... if you could... um..."

"You want me to help you confess your feelings and win her heart?" Atticus asked with a smirk upon his lips.

'Close to that. I just want Jaylin to give me an answer, at the very least, but...' Chazz thought in his head before replying, "yes."

"Then, you have come to the right person. Jaylin is a Slifer Red and an excellent duelist, perhaps you could duel her as a way to show your affection."

"Uh... I don't know..." Chazz blushed.

"It worked with Belowski."

"I suppose... but I don't wanna like bring out monsters like Happy Lover and those shit monsters."

"You don't have to. That is Belowski's style and you don't want to copy his dueling style, you want to keep your own."

Chazz sighed, deciding, "I've got nothing to lose, I suppose."

"That's it. Now, we just need to lure her in."

"Challenge her to a duel? That usually works for her."

"I was thinking of stealing the keys to the three Mythical Beasts below the school, but I suppose that works too."

Chazz blinked and asked in a whisper, "how the hell would that work?"

"I'm kidding! I'd only suggest that, if it was my sister," Atticus assured as Chazz sighed, gazing his eyes away.

"Whatever. Let's just do this without creating a plot device," Chazz muttered before focusing back on his work.

After school, Chazz began working on his deck to set it up for his duel confession, if he could call it that, to Jaylin. Chazz wasn't sure, if he would really call it a confession, since Jaylin already knew his feelings, but he wanted to at least know what her official answer was. He had the nagging feeling Jaylin didn't have any feelings for him, but there was still the smallest and slimmest of chances. If it was that small, it was worth risking.

Jaylin, meanwhile, seemed to have been on her own a lot. Carl took notice of this. She'd notice Jaylin was just standing at the edge of the cliff by the Slifer Red Campus and staring off into the horizon. Jaylin had started doing this, after her recovery, for the passed few days, staring at the exact direction of Domino City. Nobody knew, if this was a sign of Jaylin being homesick or developing something. If anyone asked Jaylin, if she was was okay, she'd assure them she was with a bright smile or grin on her face. Though, nobody was sure.

As Jaylin was doing this, Chazz began running to her, feeling butterflies in his stomach, but ready to face this. It was time he showed his true affection to Jaylin.

"Jaylin!" Chazz called.

Jaylin's eyes began blinking when hearing her named called, then turned and found Chazz standing in front of her with his duel disk on his arm.

"Oh, hi Chazz," Jaylin replied.

"I um..." Chazz started, flush dusting his cheeks. "I'd like to challenge you to a duel."

"Awesome!" Jaylin replied, a grin appearing on her face. "Just let me get my duel disk out." She took off her backpack, then got out her duel disk before reaching for her deck inside the deck pocket of her belt.

"Um... how about we take this to the beach?"

"Sure," Jaylin shrugged, following Chazz, who seemed very nervous. Jaylin began wondering why Chazz would be this nervous before their duel. It wasn't like this would be their first duel together.

"Hey Jay, ah- Oh, you and Chazz gonna duel?" Ronda asked.

"Yeah," Jaylin replied.

"Okay, awesome! I'll message everyone," Ronda grinned, getting out her phone to text everyone as she and Jaylin followed Chazz to the beach.

Chazz was really nervous and hoped Atticus' idea didn't make things too awkward. Of course, he began blushing even more when they did make it to the beach and Atticus was seen in beach clothes, playing a ukulele. It didn't take long for the rest of Jaylin's friends to arrive with widened eyes and an awestruck expression. Zane, though, just stared at Atticus with a stoic expression.

"Atticus, what the hell are you doing?" Zane asked without emotion.

"I'm adding some romantic music to this duel of love," Atticus replied as Alexis facepalmed.

"I knew you would do this sooner or later," Alexis groaned.

"Oh, be nice, it's pretty," Jaylin said, showing a small smile.

"Well, Chazz is sure braver than I would be," Bastion pointed out.

"I've um... never done a duel like this before, but... I want to express my feelings. I know you already know how I feel, but... I never got an answer," Chazz replied, showing a redder blush on his face as Jaylin showed a small frown.

"Oh..." Jaylin replied, silence between the duo. "I'm sorry."

"No... you're busy doing things, so I want to at least show my feelings through this duel, and you can give me your answer afterward."

Jaylin smiled, replying, "okay. I'm ready when you are." She activated her duel disk the same as Chazz.

Jaylin and Chazz drew five cards, then Chazz drew his first card. He looked through his hand, then declared, "I summon Ojama Yellow in attack mode, then place two cards face-down." Ojama Yellow was instantly summoned in attack mode.

"Hey boss! Are you finally using me against Jay? Yay!" Ojama Yellow asked, jumping for joy.

"Yeah, yeah, yeah, whatever," Chazz scoffed. "I activate Love Letter. So, you want to take control of Ojama Yellow or one of my face-down cards?"

"Aww, how romantic," Atticus grins, hearts in his eyes.

"Why do I get the slightest suspicion that my parents adopted you before I was born?" Alexis asked.

"Aw, co'mon Lexie, can't you feel the love? It is in the air," Atticus grins.

"Except Jaylin hasn't returned the feelings back to Chazz, dimwit!"

"You never know," Atticus grinned as Alexis groaned.

"It's official, you were adopted and had your head dropped when you were a baby."

"I choose your face-down card over there," Jaylin replied, pointing to one of Chazz's face-down cards. Chazz walked up and gave Jaylin his face-down card before returning to his position.

"It's too bad really, because I activate Giant Trunade from my hand to return all Spells and Traps to the owner's hand. Since Hidden Wish was the face-down card you chose, I am able to activate its effect!" Chazz smirks as Hidden Wish activates, taking away 1000 of Jaylin's life points and giving them to Chazz, bringing Jaylin's life points down to 3000 and Chazz's up to 5000. "I also activate my second face-down, Treasure Map." Chazz places Treasure Map in the graveyard, then draws two cards. "I place two cards face-down, and that ends my turn!"

Jaylin drew her next card, then declared, "I summon Elemental Hero Lady Heat!" The flaming Elemental Hero appeared boldly. "She attacks your Ojama Yellow!" Elemental Hero Lady heat began shooting fire from her hands at Ojama Yellow.

"No! Boss, save me! Ahhhhhhh!" Ojama Yellow screamed.

"Not so fast, I play Ring of Destruction!" Chazz smirked as two holographic metal rings appeared around both his, Jaylin's and Elemental Hero Lady Heat's neck, then exploded. Jaylin's life points dropped to 1700, while Chazz's life points dropped to 3700.

"Boss, I knew you'd save me!" Ojama Yellow cried in glee as Chazz humphed.

"Such undying love. Not willing to give up until he wins her heart. You go, Chazz! Win the affections of lovely Miss Yuki!" Atticus cried to Chazz, who just blushed mad in embarrassment, while Jaylin tried not to laugh.

"I wasn't going to save this, but I'm starting to think the girls he went out with were drunk or drugged," Zane said as Alexis sighed, shaking her head. "Here's my question, why couldn't you just, I don't know, give her chocolates and flowers? Believe me, Jaylin's a fan of that fluff stuff."

Chazz blushed madly, while Atticus replied, "aw, but it wouldn't be so romantic."

"Dueling isn't romantic."

"It can be. It was with Jaylin and Belowski."

"That wasn't romance, that was Jaylin getting googly-eyed over Happy Lover."

"Hey, Happy Lover is awesome!" Jaylin glared at Zane before he snorted.

"I'll never understand you," Zane replied as Jaylin stuck her tongue at him.

Chazz drew his next card, then looked at his deck. He declared, "I play Graceful Charity!" He drew three cards from his deck to his hand before discarding Hidden Wish and Chthonian Polymer. "Then, I play Pot of Greed." He drew two more cards. "I activate Ojama Trio!" His face-down card was activated as Ojama Tokens appeared on Jaylin's field as the Ojama Trio."Now, I activate Polymerization to fuse the Ojama Trio to bring out Ojama King!" The Ojama brothers fused together, one from his field and two from his hand, and became Ojama King. "Using his effect, I will choose two of your Monster Card Zones and those two can no longer be used and I choose your two only zones!" Jaylin pressed a few buttons on her duel disk, which created X's on those Monster Card Zones. "I place one card face-down and that ends my turn!"

Jaylin draws her next card. She couldn't summon a monster, so she declared, "I play Pot of Greed." She drew two cards from her deck to her hand. "Then, set two cards face-down and that ends my turn."

Chazz draws his next card, then declares, "I play Dress Up and equip it to my Ojama King!" Ojama King was seen in a white tux and its attack points rose to 300. "I also use its effect to force one of the Ojama Tokens on your field in attack mode! I choose Ojama Green!" Ojama King jumped into Jaylin's field and ate the Ojama Green Token, leaving Jaylin with 1400 life points remaining, then to 1100, due to the effect of the Ojama Tokens from Ojama Trio. "I end my turn."

Jaylin drew her next card, then declared, "I summoned Winged Kuriboh to the field!" Winged Kuriboh appeared instantly.

"Kuri! Kuri!" Winged Kuriboh responded after being summoned.

"Aw, so cute! She's showing her Winged Kuriboh, just like she did for Belowski!" Atticus cooed as Alexis groaned.

"Atticus, I appreciate your help, but will you please shut up?" Chazz glared as Atticus' jaw dropped and everyone else burst out laughing. Chazz's cheeks were turning red.

Jaylin could only laugh before responding, "honestly Chazz, I am flattered that you like me more than a friend, but the truth is, I don't see you the same way. I suppose it's my fault for not taking your offer the first time, though I really did want to give you a chance at the time. Though, as time went by, I got to know you a bit more and... well... no offense... but you're not my type."

Chazz could feel the sting in his heart. He knew, somewhat, that Jaylin didn't like him back, but he wanted Jaylin to say it herself. He didn't want to assume, just in case she did like him back. He could only nod as Jaylin smiled sadly.

"I'm really sorry," Jaylin apologized.

"Don't. You shouldn't apologize for not having feelings for me. If you don't like me that way, you don't like me that way. It's not a crime to not like someone anymore than a friend. There's a ton of girls that have a thing for me and I don't have their feelings returned. If you fall for someone else, I'll let you be with that someone and won't make a big fuss about it. That isn't to say I won't get in the way, if I feel that person might hurt you," Chazz said.

"I'm glad," Jaylin replied, continuing her turn.

"I play Transcending Wings by discarding my Winged Kuriboh and two of my cards from my hand to special summon Winged Kuriboh Level 10!" Winged Kuriboh instantly became Winged Kuriboh Level 10 with a golden dragon-like armor winged brilliant white wings. "Now, I'll use Winged Kuriboh Level 10's effect by tributing it to destroy your Ojama King!"

"NOOOOOOOOO!" The Ojama Brothers screamed inside Ojama King before Winged Kuriboh blew up like a bomb, taking Ojama King with it, leaving Chazz with 3400 life points remaining.

"I end," Jaylin declared.

Chazz drew his next card, then declared, "I summon Ojama Red in defense mode, then end!" Ojama Red appeared in defense mode.

"Are you out of ideas, now? Just wonderful!" Ojama Red complained, throwing his hands in the air.

Jaylin drew, then declared, "I use Polymerization to fuse Shadow Mist and Sparkman to bring out Elemental Hero Escuridao!" Elemental HERO Shadow Mist and Sparkman fused together in the light and appeared as Elemental HERO Escuridao, its effect activating and attack points rising to 2800. "Then, I normal summon Elemental Hero Heat!" The firey Elemental hero appeared on the field, its attack points rising to 1800 due to its effect. "Now, I activate my face-down card, Stop Defense to bring your Ojama Red to attack mode!" Ojama Red was forced into attack mode, grumbling in the process. "My Elemental Hero Heat starts off by attacking your Ojama Red!"

Elemental HERO Heat burst a blast of fire at Ojama Red, who rolled his eyes and muttered, "here we go again" before blasting from the field, leaving Chazz with 1600 life points remaining.

"My Escuridao attacks you directly!" Jaylin declared as Elemental HERO Escuridao attacked Chazz, getting rid of his remaining life points as Jaylin placed her two fingers on her forehead, then shot them back at Chazz. "GOTCHA!"

Chazz chuckled, turning off his duel disk. He replied, "you're never gonna stop saying that, are ya?"

"Nope," Jaylin grinned. "Thanks for the duel. I think I needed that."

"You... did?" Chazz asked, a bit surprised.

"Yeah... guys, there's something I need to talk to you about," Jaylin said as everyone began looking at her with seriousness. "Professor Banner's spirit follows me."

"What!? You're not serious!" Alexis responded almost astounded. Yes, she had known about spirits roaming the Earth and those being Duel Monsters in spirit form, but she never heard of a human she knew that died, then spend his life as a spirit. The rest of the gang seemed to have the same response. "But... why?"

"It's... kinda hard to explain, but anyways... he's not the only one, who gave his soul to Nightshroud. There's someone else. He warned me yesterday, but I wasn't sure how to explain it to you," Jaylin said.

"I did see his ghost when you were recovering. I..." Ronda muttered nervously.

"So, this isn't over, is it?" Bastion asked with worry on his face.

"It's far from over," Jaylin replied.

At that moment, Ronda turned and gasped, seeing Professor Banner smiling and waving before his spirit walked behind Jaylin, placing a hand on her shoulder. His spirit disappeared, then Jaylin's face turned toward Domino City once more, her eyes seemingly lost.

"Jaylin?" Ronda asked, waving her hand in front of Jaylin, but she had no response. She only lifted her hand and pointed toward the building Kaiba Corp.

"Ronda?" Alexis asked nervously.

"Jaylin's been doing that lately," Carl pointed out. "Though, pointing at Domino City is new."

"It's not Jaylin, it's Professor Banner. He was trying to warn us through Jaylin!" Ronda cried out.
