Sebastian finished writing on the board.
"The 90s. Now while the decade is mostly associated with Grunge and boy bands, it also had another significant topic of discussion. It was when the physical single was at its peak. Before iTunes, people actually bought individual copies in tangible form and the Billboard Hot 100 had a rule where a song must have a physical single in order to chart. This caused numerous songs to be ineligible due to the artists' lack of desire for a physical single, ultimately leading to the end of the rule at the end of the decade." He explained.
"So we can perform any song that was released in the 90s." Emerson asked him.
"Yes, and this is our last week before Regionals, so you guys need to be at the top of your game." Sebastian answered. "So does anyone have any 90s songs that they want to sing?"
"I do." Emerson volunteered as headed to the center of the room.
We were as one babe for a moment in time
And it seemed everlasting that you would always be mine
Now you wanna be free yeah, so I'm letting you fly
Cause I know in my heart babe our love will never die
You'll always be a part of me, I'm part of you indefinitely
Boy don't you know can't escape me ooh darling cause you'll always be my baby
And we'll linger on, time can't erase a feeling this strong
No way you're never gonna shake me, ooh darling cause you'll always be my baby
I know that you'll be back boy when your days and your nights get a little bit colder
I know that you'll be right back boy baby believe me it's only a matter of time
You'll always be a part of me, I'm part of you indefinitely
Boy don't you know can't escape me ooh darling cause you'll always be my baby
And we'll linger on, time can't erase a feeling this strong
No way you're never gonna shake me, ooh darling cause you'll always be my baby
You'll always be a part of me, I'm part of you indefinitely
Boy don't you know can't escape me ooh darling cause you'll always be my baby
And we'll linger on, time can't erase a feeling this strong
No way you're never gonna shake me, ooh darling cause you'll always be my baby
Later in the morning, Milla went up to Danny.
"So how is the football coming along?" She asked.
"Tryouts are in a few weeks." He replied. "Everyone that I've talked to has been saying that Katie's the favorite to win the job."
"Have you possibly thought about changing positions so you could play more?" She asked. "I mean you could probably make a great running back."
"I want to be the star." Danny explained.
"Well you can be the star even if you're the running back." She pointed out. "Remember Arian Foster or Chris Johnson when he was good? Hell, even Adrian Peterson before he got blacklisted."
Somebody once told me the world is gonna roll me
I aint the sharpest tool in the shed
She was looking kind of dumb with her finger and her thumb
In the shape of an L on her forehead
Well the years start coming and they don't stop coming
Fed to the rules and I hit the ground running
Didn't make sense not to live for fun
Your brain gets smart but your head gets dumb
So much to do so much to see
So what's wrong with taking the backstreets
You'll never know if you don't go
You'll never shine if you don't glow
Hey now you're an all star, get your game on go play
Hey now you're a rock star, get the show on get paid
And all that glitters is gold
Only shooting stars break the mold
Hey now you're an all star, get your game on go play
Hey now you're a rock star, get the show on get paid
And all that glitters is gold
Only shooting stars
Somebody once asked could I spare some change for gas
I need to get myself away from this place
I said "Yep, what a concept I could use a little fuel myself
And we could all use a little change"
Well the years start coming and they don't stop coming
Fed to the rules and I hit the ground running
Didn't make sense not to live for fun
Your brain gets smart but your head gets dumb
So much to do so much to see
So what's wrong with taking the backstreets
You'll never know if you don't go (Go!)
You'll never shine if you don't glow
Hey now you're an all star, get your game on go play
Hey now you're a rock star, get the show on get paid
And all that glitters is gold
Only shooting stars break the mold
And all that glitters is gold
Only shooting stars break the mold
After school, Jasmine once again met up with Robbie. She was beginning to feel guilty and knew that she would soon have to choose.
"I don't know who I want to be with." She told him. "I don't know if I want you or him."
"Well how about you let me sing my piece and maybe you can give him the same chance." Robbie suggested before he started.
Yeah one, two princes kneel before that's what I said now
Princes, princes who adore you just go ahead now
One has diamonds in his pockets, that's some bread now
This one said wants to buy you rockets, aint in his head now
This one got a princely racket, that's what I said now
Got some big seal upon his jacket, aint in his head now
You marry him your father will condone you, how 'bout that now
You marry me your father will disown you, he'll eat his hat now
Marry him or marry me?
I'm the one that loves you baby can't you see
I aint got no future or family tree
But I know what a princely lover ought to be
I know what a princely lover ought to be
Said one, two princes kneel before that's what I said now
Princes, princes who adore you just go ahead now
One has diamonds in his pockets, that's some bread now
This one said wants to buy you rockets, aint in his head now
Marry him or marry me?
I'm the one that loves you baby can't you see
I aint got no future or family tree
But I know what a princely lover ought to be
I know what a princely lover ought to be
If you want to call me baby just go ahead now
And if you'd like to tell me maybe just go ahead now
If you want to buy me flowers, just go ahead now
And if you'd like for hours just go ahead now
Just go ahead now, just go ahead now
Oh your majesty, come on and forget the king and marry me
Just go ahead now
Come on, come on, come on just go ahead now
He then sealed his song with a kiss. She couldn't deny that Robbie was much more passionate than Mustafa, but Mustafa had been there when her parents almost killed her. There was definitely a history and she didn't know who to choose.
The following day, Chace was returning from baseball practice to see that Emerson was there waiting for him.
"What are you doing here?" Chace asked.
"Can't I just wait here for my boyfriend?" Emerson challenged. "While I don't get your love of this sport, I will still support you playing because that is what a good boyfriend does."
"You know you don't have to do if you don't want to." Chace declared.
"Well it would be nice if we had something in common." Emerson remarked. "I mean it seems that all we have right now is the fact that we're both gay and we like to sing."
"There is something else." Emerson replied. Chace just smiled. "Oh my god, you're not going to, are you?"
"Yes." Chace declared before he began to sing the song.
You say that we've got nothing in common
No common ground to start from and we're falling apart
You'll say the world has come between us
Our lives have come between us still I know you just don't care
And I said "What about breakfast at Tiffany's?
She said "I think I remember the film
And as I recall, I think we both kinda liked it"
And I said "Well, that's the one thing we've got"
I see you the only one who knew me
And now your eyes see through me I guess I was wrong
So what now, it's plain to see we're over and I hate when things are over
When so much is left undone
And I said "What about breakfast at Tiffany's?
She said "I think I remember the film
And as I recall, I think we both kinda liked it"
And I said "Well, that's the one thing we've got"
And I said "What about breakfast at Tiffany's?
She said "I think I remember the film
And as I recall, I think we both kinda liked it"
And I said "Well, that's the one thing we've got"
"Okay, we both do love that song." Emerson agreed. "Maybe we can work toward some of the rest of the rest of the stuff. I can learn to like baseball and you can watch some musicals with me."
"I guess I can do that." Chace agreed with a laugh.
After school, Jasmine and Aria went home to find that Mustafa was here.
"What are you doing here?" The Latina asked in shock.
"I told him to come here." Aria explained. "Things are going too far and you need an intervention."
"Jasmine, I'm not even going to get into the cheating aspect, but you can't keep seeing this guy." Mustafa told her.
"I was under the impression that the choice of who I wanted to date was entirely up to me." Jasmine quipped.
"Seriously, he's just trying to break your heart before the competition to throw you off your game." Aria explained. "It's so obviously. He doesn't like you. He probably would be with any girl that he could get into his web."
"He told me that he wasn't interested in finding out what we were doing for Regionals." Jasmine argued.
"Well obviously, he was lying to you." Mustafa pointed out. "Look, I'm willing to forgive you if you just stop seeing him."
"I'm not going to just sit around and let you accuse him when he hasn't had a chance to defende himself!" She shouted before she headed to her car.
She went to Robbie's house to see him. She did know that Robbie's brother was the coach of Vocal Adrenaline, but that didn't mean that he was using her. It was still in her mind though. He was the one who opened the door.
"I need to talk to you." She declared. "All this time that we've been together, have you just been using me? Have you been trying to break my heart?"
"No." He answered.
"Are you lying to me? I know that you're a shady kind of guy." She responded.
"I'm starting to think that you have a problem with us going out." He stated. "Yes, that might be a good tactic, but I'm not someone that does that. Did you ever think that maybe I just liked you and wanted to be with you, but I don't know if I want to anymore?"
"So you are breaking up with me then?" She asked.
"Yes, but it wasn't something that I intended to do before this outburst." Robbie remarked. "I guess you've made your choice."
He closed the door and suddenly she felt really bad for accusing him and realized that her own paranoia was what ended their relationship. Irony was not a friend of hers.
At the end of the week, the club was preparing their final performance before Regionals. Danny was singing the lead.
Girl you know that we belong together
I have no time for you to be playing with my heart like this
You'll be mine forever baby, you'll just see
We belong together and you know that I'm right
Why do you play with my heart, why do you play with my mind
Said we'd be forever, said it'd never die
How could you love me and leave me and never say goodbye
Girl I can't sleep at night without holding you tight
Girl each time I try I just break down and cry
Pain in my head, oh I'd rather be dead
Spinning around and around
Although we've come to the end of the road, still I can't let you go
It's unnatural, you belong to me, I belong to you
Come to the end of the road, still I can't let you go
It's unnatural, you belong to me, I belong to you
Mustafa then came in. It really tugged on Jasmine's heartstrings.
Girl I'm here for you, All those times at night when you just hurt me
And you just ran out with that other fella Baby I knew about it I just didn't care
You just don't understand how much I love you, do you I'm here for you
I'm not out to go out and cheat at night just like you did baby but that's alright
Hey I love you anyway and I'm still gonna be here for you till my dying day baby
Right now I'm just in so much pain baby cause you just won't come back to me
This time instead, just come to my bed
And baby just don't let me go
Although we've come to the end of the road, still I can't let you go
It's unnatural, you belong to me, I belong to you
Come to the end of the road, still I can't let you go
It's unnatural, you belong to me, I belong to you
"I think I speak for everyone when I say that we are gonna kill it at Regionals." Cori declared.
So next chapter is Regionals. It turned out that Robbie really did like Jasmine, but she was the one who screwed it up. The songs are "Always Be My Baby" by Mariah Carey, "All Star" by Smash Mouth, "Two Princes" by The Spin Doctors, "Breakfast at Tiffany's" by Deep Blue Something, and "The End of the Road" by Boyz II Men. Please don't forget to review.
