An Island of Snow: Drum Island
Since Eternal Post only pointed to Alabasta, and the log post was still set on Little Garden for a while, the crew decided to stop for the night instead of stearing around the area for an island.
Gin was up in the boys cabin with a pen and paper.
He remember what Krieg told him about not having enough info of the Grand Line.
"Maybe I should keep a journal," Gin responded.
…
The next day, the weather was unusually calm.
Usopp was repairing the part of the ship that was eaten by Waporu.
"I don't understand about those pirates we met yesterday. I've never heard of that pirate before," Usopp said.
"Probably a recently made pirate crew," Gin responded.
"I don't know. The crew look too big to be newbies," Moi responded.
"Not to mention their ship was in good condition," Usopp responded.
"Let's forget about them," Sanji responded, "By the way, do you think it's too quiet and cold around here?"
"Yes, but I think there will be something going on later," Usopp replied.
"It means that there must be an island around here," Vivi responded.
"Vivi!" Sanji responded.
"Gin, keep on course where we're going with the help of the eternal post," Vivi ordered.
"Got it," Gin responded.
"There must be a winter island around here," Vivi said.
"Winter Island?" Usopp asked before hitting his thumb with the hammer.
"The Grand Line is known for having islands with their own season of either winter, spring, summer and fall," Moi explained.
"To make it easy to understand, while we are traveling along the Grand Line, we will face 16 different types of weather. Each weather is based off the seaon of that island," Vivi explained, "Besides that, we will face many unexpected obstacles along the route."
"I see,. Because there are different type of island between the route, the weather will be inconsistent and unpredictable," Gin responded.
"Right. Based on the calm weather, there must be an island around here," Vivi explained.
"You're right," Sanji yelled, "I see an island ahead of us!"
Sure enough there was an island with cylinder like mountains in the distance.
…
Luffy and Zoro were watching over Nami when they received the news.
"An island?" Luffy yelled.
"That's right," Zoro agreed.
"We're lucky, Nami. They said that they saw an island! You will be better soon!" Luffy yelled.
Luffy remained still but obviously anxious to see the island.
"If you want to see it that much, just go," Zoro told Luffy.
Luffy wasted no time going outside to see the island.
…
"Wow! It is an island Luffy yelled while sitting on his 'special seat', "It's so white. That must be the snow!"
"Hey Luffy! I must tell you that we won't have time to play or look around," Sanji said, "Our main purpose is to find a doctor that can cure Nami. After that, we will hurry up and go to Alabasta."
"Snow is so beautiful," Luffy said.
"I don't think he heard you," Gin said.
"Wait a minute. Do you think that we will be safe? Is there going to be a monster on that island? How can you be sure that we will find a human?" Usopp kept on asking before finally saying, "I don't want to go!"
"Snow is so white," Luffy said.
"Get ready everyone. We will arrive soon!" Moi ordered.
…
Instead of a river, there was a bay into the island.
Sure enough, the island was covered in snow, and one of the mountains seem to have a building on it.
"Wow! A snow mountain!" Luffy cried with joy, "I'm so happy! There is so much snow?"
"Aren't you cold at all, Luffy?" Usopp asked.
"It's 14 degrees fahrenheit, the right temperature for a bear to hibernate," Vivi said.
See, Luffy was still wearing his regular clothes.
"Huh?" Luffy responded before he stared rubbing himself, "It's so cold!"
"You just realized!" Sanji and Usopp yelled.
"We can't go any further," Zoro said.
"We'll have to stop here," Moi said.
"We should start by looking for a doctor," Zoro said.
"I'll go!" Gin responded, "Who will go with me?"
"I will!" Luffy yelled.
"I will go to!" Sanji responded.
"Somehow I'm not surprise," Gin responded.
"I'll go too," Moi said.
"Good!" Gin agreed.
"Stop right there pirates!" someone yelled.
Everyone looked to see that the shore lines were now surrounded by villagers.
"They're humans," Luffy said.
"But they don't look friendly," Usopp responded.
The leader was a big man that was dressed heavily.
"Get off this island," the man said, "You're not welcome here."
"We're not here to cause any problems!" Luffy yelled, "We just need to a doctor to look over our Navigator."
"Please! She's really sick!" Vivi yelled.
"That trick won't work on us, you evil pirates!" a villager yelled.
"This is our village, and we won't let you in!" another yelled.
"Just get out of here, otherwise we will shoot you!" a third villager yelled.
"They just met us, but they act like they've hated us for a hundred years," Sanji responded.
"Shut up!" The villagers yelled as they started firing at Sanji.
Sanji dodge the bullets.
"Don't go firing at my friends!" Luffy yelled as he released a huge force of haki on the villagers.
…
Most villagers, except for the leader, were knocked out.
The leader was shock to feel such a powerful force of Haki.
"What was that?" a villager asked, "Should we attack back?"
"No," Dalton said.
"Huh?" the villager responded.
…
"Good one Luffy! Now they most definetely won't let us on the island," said Moi sarcastically.
"Oh yeah! I didn't think about that," Luffy responded.
"But we still need a doctor!" Vivi responded.
"Boy with the Straw Hat! What's your name?" the leader asked.
"Huh? Um… my name is Monkey D. Luffy," Luffy replied.
"How sick is your navigator?" the leader asked.
"She's really sick! She has a dangerously high fever," Vivi responded.
"If we don't find a doctor soon, she will die," Gin explained.
"Please! Let us on the island! We just need to find a doctor to treat our friend! Once she's back to health, we'll leave," Vivi begged.
The leader looked at Vivi and recognized her.
"First a powerful Haki-User, now her," the leader thought.
"Should we really trust them?" a villager asked.
"Yes," the leader responded.
"Huh?"
"Sorry about the rude welcoming, but if you knew the history of our country, you would understand," the man said, "My name is Dalton, and I'm incharge of the secuirity of this island. I will show you the way to our village."
"That's great!" Luffy yelled.
"Thank you very much!" Vivi responded.
"Why Dalton?" a villager asked.
"In all the years I been a royal guard, I only met a few people with such a strong will to protect their friends and love ones," Dalton said, "And two of those people I can tell possess such a will."
