Pokѐmon Journey II: Gwyn's Passage
Chapter 16: Welcome to Rocket HQ
Gwyn's Point of View:
Upon walking down into the base, Violet's face turned to that of a deep scowl. She was not pleased with the development of the base, or I guess it was probably how well put together the base was. The walls were thick, soundproof and seemed to go on for a long distance. There must have been multiple sections of this base, taking it out and getting all the Rocket members out of it would be a taxing job.
As the stairs came to an end, Violet was the first to place her feet on the ground and take a survey around, some grunts were taking watch and all seemed to be quiet. I began to walk next to her when she shoved out her arm to hold me back and I had to fight a startled sound from escaping me. I saw her moving about her tongue in her mouth from the way her cheeks moved before she jumped up onto the ceiling and spat lava at a camera that was there, about to turn toward us. The camera melted away from the extreme heat and Violet landed back on the ground, nodding back to me and allowing me to walk with her.
"Violet, what do we do now?" I whispered to her in case she still wanted me to be quiet.
She looked around again. "We're going to take out this base." She looked back over at the boys. "Aaron, go with Vince and take out the power supply, it wouldn't surprise me if you met up with an admin there so be on your guard. Tristan, go with Alex, you guys save and rescue any pokemon and people that are trapped here." She turned to me. "Gwyn, you and I are heading down below. With that shiny gyarados of yours on your team, Rose'll be pissed since she didn't get her. I'd rather have you with me to be safe, plus, your power wouldn't hurt either."
"Okay Violet." I nodded my head and walked directly next to her. The boys paired up with their partners and all the senior trainers nodded before leading us down one of the many hallways in the base. I followed after the older woman quietly and obeyed any commands she gave me, verbal or physical.
With Sunrise as a watch guard on my shoulder and Chalcedony on Violet's we made our way deeper into the base. Grunts littered the area with them walking about and what not, but Violet asked me to try and not get noticed. She said we needed to allow the boys as much time as possible to help out those that needed our help, but as soon as an alarm was started or the power was cut, we would go loose on a battle spree.
Violet held my body to the wall with her arm as she glanced around a corner. This one was grunt infested; they were running around and carrying things back and forth like no tomorrow. I suddenly heard the sound of a pokeball opening and Amber somehow had let herself out of her pokeball and growled at them all. I could see the shaking body, she did not like these guys, even more then a normal person would. Violet looked down at her pokemon but did nothing to silence her or stop her.
Suddenly Violet's head whipped around and turned, she cursed under her breath and I looked up to where she was. A camera was directed at us, watching our movements.
"Why haven't they sounded the alarm yet?" I quietly asked her. She gave me a quick glance before she looked back up at the camera.
"I'm not sure…" her worried look then turned into a grin. "But I have a wild guess." She then blew a kiss to the camera and waved before the camera mysteriously turned off and lowered itself.
"What was that?" I put my hands on my hips as she looked over at me with her signature grin.
"Alex and Tristan." She then turned to her growling pokemon at the corner of the hallway. "All yours Amber."
"Help her out Shocker!" Shocker came out of his pokeball and hurried after the other electric type that ran around the corner already. The hallway was then filled with screams in the next second as a blinding light of yellowish white overtook it and both Violet and I had to shield our eyes for a moment while it went on. When the screams died and the electric sounds stopped as well, I felt Violet pull me around the corner and I opened my eyes to see the black, barbequed hallway before us with our pokemon grinning at us.
"Nice job you two, let's keep moving." Violet took off down the hallway and I raced right after her with my pokemon running at my side and hers next to her.
"But what now? Are we looking for Rose?" I panted and tried to ask her as we kept moving on.
"Yes and no, we gotta take out this base, Aaron and Vince have power, Tristan and Alex have pokemon, we get the fun job of taking out admins and Rocket members in this base to reduce Rose's numbers." We turned a corner and I struggled to hit it well enough and keep up. "Alex is also taking out the alarms and the security, making it easier for all of us to make our way around the base, probably cutting off their communication too."
"Why exactly does Rose hate you so much, I mean besides taking down her husband's operation like you did in the past?"
She laughed and halted for a moment before I saw her send out Amber and I sent Shocker with her to fry the next hallway for us. Once it was clear and the pokemon said it was clear, she pulled me down the next one.
"More like what did I not do to her to make her pissed at me." She shook her head while she continued to laugh. "Rose has hated me since day one, she tired to steal Amethyst as a charmander by dressing up like me and leading her out of the pokemon center, but I caught on and she got sent packing by us, on the first day of our journey too no less." I gaped at the woman before me while her words started to become a bit louder from our racing hearts. "I've ruined just about every job that Rose has set out to do and even caused her husband the most horrible defeat in all of history, I stole her son from her and he changed his mind about everything in life so that he'd never stay under her control and run the organization like she'd planned. She couldn't stop me…"
I lowered my eyes from her. "And it frustrates you that you're unable to capture her, even with all that you've done to her."
"Of course it does!" Violet looked back at me with her furious look. She then shook her head and turned back. "Sorry Gwyn, didn't mean to snap."
"Don't worry about it Violet, I know the subject of Rose is hard for you."
We came to another corner and stopped while the pokemon went out to check around it only for them to jump back as a ball of purple sludge hit the wall behind them. I gasped and Violet took a defensive position before me, blocking most of my body with her own as we saw a figure from down the hallway.
"Now, now my dears, don't you have something better to do then get in our way?" I could feet Violet's anger from through her fist.
"Petrel!" She growled and our two electric pokemon stood before us defensively. "Face us you coward! Or are you not a man?"
"Doesn't bother me if I am or not, I'm perfectly content to hide back here while you're in firing range." I heard the strangely high pitched male voice say form around the corner, his shadow made him look like he was extremely lanky, no muscle on him at all. Before I could look more, acid flew out again at us, this time somehow coming around the corner and it barely missed us. I saw then that it wasn't a psychic attack, but a koffing that had managed not to be seen by us as it got to where we were hiding.
Violet suddenly changed into her changeling form of Amethyst and blew out white fire at the hallway, much like the fire I'd seen Cynder use when she was in the middle of our last gym battle. Her white fire though seemed much more powerful then what we produced, plus, she didn't seem as worn our as she used it. What exactly was this move that Violet knew?
"Cynder, come on out!" From my pokeball came my fire type and she howled out before she looked back for my orders. "I know we don't know the name of that new move you found out about, but please use it to help out Violet!"
Cynder nodded and her body glowed as the marks appeared all over her and Violet even stopped her attack to watch as Cynder preformed the move herself, though not as powerful, nor could keep it up as long as the changeling champion girl could. When Cynder needed a break after that attack, I saw that the entire hallway was gone now, both of them had burned right into the next few rooms with their attacks and Rocket members were looking upward as to see what exactly had happened.
"You and Cynder figured out the ancient fire type move?"
I looked over at the shocked champion. "Is that what that move is? I don't know the name of it and it seems to hurt Cynder."
"I'll tell you about it later Hon, but right now we have to deal with Team Rocket, 'kay?" I nodded and stood firmly behind my two pokemon while Violet, to my surprise, had Amber come back for a moment and allowed Chalcedony from the back of her neck to join in the battle. His eyes seemed even more bright red then normal, was it because they could have been glowing?
"Psychic." The woman's demanded was quickly heeded and crushing and smashing could be heard from the other side of the wall. Violet calmly walked forward with her dark type walking next to her.
"Violet!" My pokemon and I ran up to the woman and were about to pull her back when I was stunned by the scene before me as my hands had latched onto her arm. The Team Rocket admin was down on the ground, holding his head in pain while all his pokemon, many koffings that had fallen around him and a single wheezing, were all knocked out.
"I wonder what's behind this door if an admin was guarding it?" Violet pulled forward, bringing me along with her as I still had a grip on her arm. Chalcedony had then lifted the man off the ground and controlled his movements so he was unable to do anything. Violet gazed up at him with a bored and angry expression.
"Like I'd tell you anything." The man spat down at us. I moved out of the way, but Violet allowed it to land on her skin, just under her eyes and on her nose, but that didn't last long, I saw the skin there heat up as if she was about to snort out lava at him, and a saliva on her dried up. Petrel showed his fearful side when he saw that and when she reached up and grabbed the front of his shirt to pull him down to her level.
"Now, let's talk a bit, shall we?" Fire did come out of her nose this time as she breathed out and he man helplessly screamed against her. "What is Rose up to now?"
"Get the hell away from me!" I took in the man's appearance then, he was still tall and lanky, but I saw he had a thin face and bright purple hair, but it was short and curled on the front lobe of his head, slightly sticking up. His uniform was much like that of Proton's, he had the same off-white gloves and boots that had a ring of red around the ends of them and some gold trimming on his uniform. His uniform was entirely buttoned up to the point where even his neck was hidden from the light though.
"Are you sure you won't speak?" Violet changed the position of her hand to where she was holding his neck now, she began to squeeze. The man slowly began to cough as the moments ticked by, but refused to give her an answer.
"Violet stop! You'll kill him!" At first she didn't quite respond to my words, but after a moment she loosened her grip and allowed him to drop to the floor.
"Relax Gwyn, I may have been given the order to do anything I need to in order to get these guys all locked away, and I hate them with a burning passion, but I won't kill them." She glared down at the admin of Team Rocket and pulled out some rope before using it to tie him up. "I should know better by now that the admins won't talk, they're too dedicated to Rose. I'll have to ask one of the weaker minded grunts in this base. But first…" she shoved Petrel out of the way and gazed at the door behind him. "Let's see what he was guarding. Stand back."
I obeyed her easily enough and pulled the older man she'd just tied up out of the way. With us a safe distance from her, she stepped before the door and called to two of her pokemon, Amethyst and Sapphire.
"Use a contrast of your moves to heat up and then cool down the metal, I can tell we have to do this from how thick the door is." She looked to Amethyst. "Go first and use fire blast, Sapphire, after she stops, use blizzard, keep doing this until the door comes down or explodes, whichever happens first so we can get through."
Her two pokemon both growled at the door before the fire type of the two let loose powerful flames, heating up a large section of the door. She then backed off as Sapphire stepped forward and she screeched as a powerful gust of wind and snow hit the door and I heard it groaning as the ice was making it soft and bendable, sizzling also from the sudden contact of hot metal and ice. Amethyst then lumbered forward again, and this time though she used a move that entirely lit up her body with the same marks as Cynder that glowed and let loose a white fire that I saw blow the door of its hinges with it as soft as it was. It landed on the ground with a bang and skidded off into the dark room that looked nothing like a regular room for a hideout; it was more like a storage closet. Both pokemon returned themselves to their pokeballs for more room movement once their task was done. Why would an admin of Team Rocket be protecting this door?
The answer flew out at us, literally. A small murkrow flew out and over our heads from the room as it was about ready to fly off if the look in Violet's eyes didn't scare it to stay.
"Perch." She held out her arm for the bird and it quickly landed there, looking up at her worriedly. The pokemon didn't seem to be abused or anything, in fact, it looked quite healthy; I guess that's a bad thing when it comes to Team Rocket pokemon.
"Do you know what Team Rocket is up to?"
"Kaw!" The murkrow flapped about its wings. "Yes! Team Rocket up to no good! Use radio waves!"
"It talks?" I gaped out at the pokemon.
"Some pokemon are extremely smart and can learn the human language, making it easier for those that don't know how to understand pokemon and communicate easier." Violet turned her gaze back to the bird and softened it a bit. "What are they planning to use the radio waves for? And where is this operation taking place?"
"Kaw! Radio waves from Goldenrod! From radio tower! Kaw! Team Rocket plan to bring back old boss! Use radio waves to contact him! Kaw!" The bird flapped its body off her arm and into the air, heading toward the exit. "Team Rocket taken over Goldenrod! Kaw! Team Rocket taken over Goldenrod! Kaw!" It flew out of sight, but I heard it still as it flew down the hallways.
"They plan to bring back Giovanni?" I couldn't help but gasp at the new and worriedly look over at the stone like face of fear and worry that Violet held on her face.
"Awe man… this is worse than I thought." Violet hissed before she turned on her heels and grabbed Petrel and dragged him back to the entrance of the base with me following after her. "Giovanni was the real mastermind behind everything with Team Rocket back when I was younger. If they're trying to bring him back… they must think they're ready for him, and that they took over the entire city of Goldenrod… it's just like Saffron and Sliph Co. all over again."
"So… we're going to Goldenrod to stop them, right?"
"Right." She nodded and turned down a new corner of a hallway we hadn't been down before. She saw the camera and looked up at it. She made some signals to it before it shut down again and she led us back the way we came, continuing our way to the top of the base. "I also need to hack into their data base they have on them over there to find out where Giovanni is and put their plan in the dust."
"We need to get there really quick then, right? How are we going to do that?"
"My flying pokemon, Sapphire's the fastest. We'll use her to get over there, and now that things are cleaned up a bit, all six of us can head over there and crush them."
"Are you sure that's fast enough? Wouldn't Suicune be faster since it's actually the north wind?"
"Then call it." By this point we'd made it to the surface and the boys were apparently all waiting for us. Violet was all prepared for riding her pokemon should I not be able to call the legendary beast of the north wind.
"Suicune! I need your help!" I called out while Tristan and Aaron rushed over to me; I brushed them back and continued to call out. "Suicune!"
"Cune!" From the distance I saw the blue beast making its way at us, its two companions following behind it on its flanks. It landed before me and looked me directly in the eyes as if to ask "what do you need of us?"
"Team Rocket had taken over the city of Goldenrod and we need to help them out! Will you help us get back there before anyone gets hurt?" The scared beast nodded its head and walked further next to me. I pushed myself off the ground and swung my leg over the top, quickly getting myself seated before gazing over at the champion. "Can Violet ride on your back too?" The sacred beast nodded and the champion of the Kanto region jumped off the ground to land behind me, taking hold of the legendary's fur and body to prevent me from falling off.
The boys and their respected senior in this world got on their own legendary beasts before gazing over at us, the only females. Suicune nodded and before we knew it, Suicune took off like a bullet through air. It raced over the land with its companions carrying the four males right on their flanks.
I looked over at them suddenly and watched as the two other beasts took on a different path while Suicune continued to go strait like it planed. My eyes widened when I saw the water and at first, I shielded myself, my mind thinking we would sink or get in the water somehow. It took my mind another few seconds to calm down and remember that Suicune could run on the water. I felt its feet leap from the land and it landed on the water, easily running and jumping over it from one spot to the next while taking a short cut through the region's more untamed areas with fewer humans around and more pokemon and plant life.
I leaned closer to the legendary beast's body and put my forehead to the back of its neck. "Please Suicune, faster! We can't let Team Rocket hurt anyone else! We have to take them out and capture them!" Responding to my words I felt the beast's pace quicken and it sped out past the others that were running on land.
"Be careful Gwyn," I felt Violet whisper in ear. "Once we get to Goldenrod, we'll be facing an army of Team Rocket… and Rose."
Witch's Note:
Okay, I know that this was a bit of a shorter chapter compared to most of mine, but I have to say it was more of a filler to get the guys from one place to another! Though we did get some action and we'll be getting a lot more in the next! I promise you all that!
So Violet's going to tell Gwyn about the ancient move? When do you think she may learn it? Will she also become a changeling like Violet? Will the other boys be like Vince and Alex? You'll have to read and find out!
Love you all and see you next week! Please remember to Review and send in Questions for me and the characters!
