Okay, here is the usual disclaimer: I do not own supernatural, nor any character created by the show, nor some of the ones in this story 'cause I stole them from almost 'real' life (my friends). Nor am I making any money from this unless my friends try and bribe me not to put it up, but I will anyway, so alas no money.
A/N: Okay I have a confession to make…I've been reading a lot of Spider Robinson's Callahan series and he always rights great parties so this is the result of Jake and the rest of the gangs' party hardy attitude. Basically my wacky mind deciding to embarrass me with sorta true stories of some interesting party antics. Also Dean and Sam deserve a party and what better way to spend a vacation that they got sent on.
A/N 2: I'm back in the world of fanfic, alive and kicking. Been a bit busy getting my English degree and working several jobs. A few things have changed, I'm now living in Vancouver, teaching, and with the free time I NOW have I'm getting back to my writing.
A/N 3: Also for anyone concerned that I still live with an annoying roommate don't! I am happily on my own in a little studio suite I recently moved into.
Beta'd: Nobody, I wanted to get this out as soon as I could seeing as its been a little while since I posted.
Good writing to everyone
Serenity for all
Sincerely Rae Artemis

Let's Party!
The party hit maximum fun quotient, meaning the vibes were all friendly and the music deafening, about five minutes after Dean and Sam had shown up. Sam looked at his brother with a worried look, while Dean was checking out the talent, silently damning the fact that no one could see them.
"We'll never get to talk to her now!" Sam moaned, fairly disappointed, he had been looking forward to the usual pizza and beer they got whenever they'd drop by to see Rae.
"Man, I'd be surprised if we even see her! Who the Hell are all these people?" He quietly shouted in Sam's ear, as he cast a friendly leer around the room. "Who'd think that Rae even knew this many people?" He marvelled, having thought Rae was an antisocial writer who never saw sunlight or other human beings, not counting her roommate who wasn't nice enough to be called a human being.
"Well she did just get her degree, maybe she's throwing a party for it or something," Sam offered, his lack of appreciation for the room's eye candy completely lost on Dean. They both turned ready to go when a guy accidentally knocked into Dean, gently ricocheting off the doorframe.
"Dude, sorry," the guy slightly slurred before looking up to nod an apology to Dean and his brow furrowed in thought. "Where'd I know ya from? Were you just playing the strip 'Scruples' game in the living room? Naw it musta been the game of 'spoons' in the kitchen right?" He leaned in, somewhat shakily, for a closer look, confusion cast over his features.
"You can see me?" Dean asked finally getting over the shock of being seen. "You can actually see me? What about the geeky guy behind me?" He grabbed the guy by the shoulders, turning him slightly towards Sam.
"Yeah, what 'bout 'im?" He gave Sam a bleary look and stepped back from Dean. "Wow he's tall! But wha's so special? You guys got cloaked by the Romulans or something?" He chuckled to himself as he melted back into the crowd, leaving Sam and Dean staring at each other in astonishment.
"Well…"Sam began, floored by the realization that a number of girls in the room where checking out Dean and himself. "Well that was…different."
"I'll say, this changes tonight's plan's completely! Meet ya back here…" Dean looked at his watch eagerly. "When the party starts to wind down and if I'm going to leave I'll phone you. Got it?" Dean all but leapt into the crowd, very ready to mingle; he didn't often get down time without any strings attached. He was almost jerked off his feet when Sam grabbed the back of his jacket, yanking him back to the corner area they'd been standing in.
"No! We've got to find Rae and find out what's going on. Doesn't it seem strange to you that suddenly people can see us, and physically touch us?"
"That guy is not the one I wanna be touching Sam. Just give me an hour, okay?" Dean conspicuously glanced about the room again, collecting a fair number of welcoming grins.
"No, we're going to treat this like any other job, figure out what's going on and-"
"We're NOT reversing this!" Dean snapped, glaring at his brother for the mere suggestion.
"Not reverse, just understand it, the limits and costs, the usual." In the end Sam had to half drag Dean with him through the party, trying to track down Rae, who was apparently the hostess of the shindig. They eventually found her near the stereo arguing with her roommate Shauna.
"Who are all these people? You told me that you were inviting a couple people from work! I quote 'no more than a couple of friends, really!' so who the Hell are the rest?" Rae demanded, towering over her roommate in a pair of boots that made Dean smirk and Sam's jaw drop. Rae hadn't seen them and was distracted by her roommate's rebuttal, something about it being a party and the more the merrier.
Dean and Sam were both floored by Rae's outfit, usually when they saw her it was old jeans and a sweatshirt, writer's clothing but tonight was…different. She was done up in a pair of leather boots that put her at almost six foot, a black skirt with a slit up the side, a black halter top and to finish off the effect almost Goth make up. Basically very different than either had ever expected, the effect was shocking and mind-boggling.
"Wow," Dean breathed.
"Yeah."
"I mean, who'd think…just, wow," Dean looked Rae over with an appreciative eye; it was definitely an improvement over the girl's usual fashion sense.
"Dean quit drooling! It's Rae!" Sam elbowed his brother in the ribs, getting his attention again. "You know, Rae! We need to get her attention and figure this out."
"She's busy Sam, we should mingle, see how many can see us and all that," Dean rubbed his hands eagerly, causing Sam to roll his eyes in disbelief. "Aww, come on. She is busy and we should test this." Dean patted his brother on the back and disappeared into the crowd. Sam watched him go with trepidation, suddenly acutely aware of all the eyes sizing him up.
"Yeah, this is awkward," Sam murmured, looking around the room nervously, cursing Dean for leaving him. Sam squirmed under the weight of the hungry, somewhat drunken, gazes of the young women in the room.
A pretty young thing stalked towards him, and he quelled the nearly overpowering urge to run, an eager glint in her young, untroubled eyes. Sam felt himself age a million years looking into her eyes, he had wished to be her, had tried to be that innocent but had never known it. His pain must have shown on his face somehow because she stopped, alarm crossing her pretty features, and turned suddenly beating a hasty retreat.
"Well done," A voice breathed in his ear and though he couldn't see he knew the speaker was smiling. He turned to only to be blindsided by blue eyes and a knowing smile. He towered over the petite blonde, who couldn't have been more than 5'5" but very confidant, it showed in her stance.
"I haven't seen Lenya give up ever, so whatever you did, well done. She's a hunter of souls, devouring the tasty ones and corrupting the innocents." It took Sam a moment to realize she only meant this in the slightly witchy social commentary way, not literally. "Sorry to be such a social butterfly bitch, but I've never seen her give up before. I'm Jennifer by the way, Jen to my friends."
"Uh, hi I'm Sam. Do you know what's going on here?"
"All I know is that Rae invited me and a couple other people over for dinner, and when we got here it was party central, courtesy of her darling roommate Shauna, no doubt. Anyhow Rae's been trying to kick out all the extra's for the last half hour, and me and the rest of her guests have just been trying to make sure no one breaks anything." Jen sighed looking around the room. "Don't I know you from somewhere? Did you go to Moscrop? You look really familiar."
"No I'm from…out of town," he glanced over at Rae again. "Do you think its safe to interrupt those two?"
"Go ahead, you'll probably save Rae from a homicide charge. She's super PO'd, it was supposed to be a nice little party but Shauna and her friends totally crashed it."
"Wish me luck."
"Good luck, and be careful," Jen called after Sam with a wink, as he plunged through the crowd.
Just as he was nearing Rae and her roommate, Shauna yelled "Fine!" and stalked away, shoving a few partygoers out of her way in her fury. Rae stood still, her eyes closed humming something to herself. He stood quietly in front of her, not wanting to break her meditation, it could be dangerous. Without warning he was pushed into her by a random movement of the crowd.
"Oops, uh sorry."
"What the Hell?" Her eyes snapped open in irritation, only to drop to the floor in embarrassment, which only reminded her of what she was wearing, she began to blush, her cheeks glowing a soft red. "Oh Gods," She sighed, eyes tightly closed in acute mortification. "Are you really here or is this a nightmare?"
"I'm really here," with that comment Rae began walking towards a quiet corner where people were less likely to see her talking to herself.
"Has Dean seen me yet?" Rae asked fearing the worst. It was one thing to wear this kind of outfit in front of friends, friends of whom she had loads of blackmail. Besides which they'd forced her, so it was okay.
"'Fraid so."
"Great," Rae ground out, sarcasm dripping from her voice like venom from a snake's fangs.
"So uh, nice boots," he smiled tentatively, amused by her general embarrassment.
"All you need to know is that I was forced into wear this and that is all. Now why are you here?"
"Sure Rae, I'll bet they made you have a dinner party too."
"Bite me Sam. And don't avoid the question; I thought you guys were on vacation? I thought you were going to be helping WinchestersGirl with her lists? And what about Ellen? You were supposed to drop by and see her."
"We were but she had to…well she had to sleep and so me and Dean were thinking both wondering who would be awake at such a late hour? Naturally we thought of you, so here we are," Sam avoided looking down into her eyes because beyond that was her halter-top and from his vantage it was a slippery slope.
"So you guys just so happen to drop by on the one night I'm actually hoping you won't? How's that for karma?" Rae cracked a wry grin at her luck. "What's up anyway? You look kind of freaked out? Something go sideways? 'Cause I gotta say you look a bit like my cat," that grabbed Sam's attention and he looked at her, seeing the concern in her eyes he laughed out loud, making her look even more worried.
"How do I look like your psycho cat?"
"As in over stimulated and freaked out by all these strangers, though you have a edge over Molly, no one can see you or knows you're here."
"Kind of funny you should put it that way," Sam grinned trying to find the words to explain it. "We showed up and-" A girl bounced into them and patted him on the shoulder, in a vaguely apologetic, rather lecherous way.
"Oh my Gods! Did you see that? She saw you! She touched you! What the Hell?" Rae watched the girl stagger away, not realizing how strange what she had just done to be.
"That's what I was going to say. We got here and people noticed us, I spoke to a girl uh, Jen, she who knows you. Dean is off…'mingling', I thought I should check in with you and see if you might know what is going on. 'Cause this has never happened before, we've been to bars with no reaction. So what's different here?"
"I have no idea. I've been fighting with Shauna to keep the music down so the cops don't get called. All I can think is that this is a pretty open minded bunch of individuals, lots of sci-fi fans so maybe that's the difference?"
"If it was that easy I'm sure we'd have been spotted before," he muttered back, feeling more paranoid than the last time he'd been at a party this loud, which had been forever ago.
"Well at least you guys are enjoying the vacation huh?"
"Dean has seemed to at least, we're still kinda interested in how you managed it?" Sam nudged her, trying get look her in the eyes. "No deals with devils right? And no black magic?"
"No, nothing like that I swear. Just a little hacking and a touch of neutral magic, my source said it was totally benign. And I trust my source, they know what they're doing and work well together."
"They?" Sam caught her slip before Rae realized she'd made it, watching her face for any signs of who her mystery sources might be.
"I don't suppose I can sell you that I meant 'they' like a royal they or we or anything like that?" She scanned his face to see if he'd let it go, no dice. "At least let me grab a drink while I'm being interrogated, huh? Damnable Shauna set up here so fast that I didn't even get a chance to sit down yet because I've been chasing her and cronies around trying to make sure we don't get evicted," Rae straightened up, panic rushing across her face as she elbowed Sam.
"What?" Sam began to turn but Rae stopped him, and pulled him out of the too crowded room. "What's the deal?"
"Crap, crap, crap! My friends, some of my friends watch the show with me and they'll recognize you and Dean and only Gods know what will happen then!" Rae threw the door to her bedroom closed behind him and began to pace nervously. Sam sat down on the bed, and dialled Dean's cell phone but ended up getting sent straight to his brother's voicemail.
"He's not picking up," Sam held up the phone and waggled it at Rae.
"Of course not, a bevy of chicks who can see and feel him? We may never see him again. If any of my friends are able to see him, well either they'll think I've kidnapped Jensen Ackles or they'll question their sanity," Rae grin sarcastically, "As I often do."
A sharp rap made both Rae and Sam jump, causing Sam to jump up off her bed and consider hiding in the closet, though who knew what was in there.
"Hey Rae? Rae, it's Peter are you okay?"
"Damn it!" Rae whispered, gesturing for Sam to get into the closet before she answered the door.
"Rae? It is Rae in there right? 'Cause that is her room and she'll be pissed if someone, who is not her, is having sex in her room." Rae could hear the smirk in Peter's voice as she unlocked the door. "Hello? Seriously, is anybody there?"
"Hey Peter," Rae gasped as the door flew open, his fist up to knock again. "Just me, alone, in here by myself."
Sam rolled his eyes at Rae's inability to be sneaky or underhanded; some people just had no idea how to be natural when lying.
"Where is he?"
"Who? I mean, what? Who, uh, what are you talking about?" Rae blurted out, her eyes involuntarily darting to her closet.
"Seriously Rae? I was joking when I asked 'where is he?'. I didn't actually think you would…really?" Peter marched over to the closet and flung the doors open, to display Sam, comically with the one frilly pink dress Rae owned draped around his neck. "Oh my good lord Rae! I cannot believe you would…how could you? Why would you…?"
Rae closed her eyes, waiting for the inevitable 'Rae, why did you kidnap Jared Padaleki?' question that was about to be spoken, out loud, by one of her best friends and a member of her regular viewing group. This would be groundbreaking. This would change everything. This would…
"A pink dress Rae? You swore to me you hated pink and that you would never own something, and I'm quoting you here, 'that hateful, terrible, disgusting, vulgar, horrible, kill-me-if-I-ever-have-to-wear-it, colour." Peter turned, smirking at Rae, the offending frilly dress in hand.
"Uh...I…uh…" Rae stared blankly at her friend, iron grip on her self-control not to crane her neck and try and see if Sam was still in the closet, though how he could have escaped she did not know. "What…um…uh, my grandma bought me that last Christmas, you know how she can be."
"Hey, what's with you? You seem a bit jumpy, is something wrong?" Peter's big blue eyes locked onto Rae's and she saw real concern in her friend. "Is Shauna bugging you that much?"
"No, gods no. I just need a moment to chill out before I face that mess out there, eh." Rae gave Peter a somewhat shaky smile. "Seriously, I'll be cool I just need a moment."
Peter looked at her for a full minute before giving a brief nod and half hug before leaving the room, with a glance over his shoulder.
"I'm back in five minutes if you don't come out, to look for the guy no doubt hiding under your bed." Peter threatened closing the door gently behind him.
The springs creaked as Rae sat heavily on her bed, with Sam sheepishly climbing delicately out of the closet. A funny thought hit Rae as Sam sat down beside her, a sigh escaping as he did so. Rae smiled ruefully stifling a chuckle when Sam looked at her.
"What?"
"Just…you don't want to know." Sam gave her a piercing puppy dog eyed look. "It's just, you came out of the closet just now."
Sam rolled his eyes at her comment, still processing that her friend, at this apparently very open minded party, hadn't seen him hiding in Rae's closet. They sat in silence for a moment before the realization that if Peter had a blind spot for Sam then there might be people who couldn't see Dean, who wouldn't know this.
"We have a problem, if Dean is out there doing what I think he is doing then we need to find him and get you two out of here." Rae exhaled deeply, her mind spinning at the possibilities and how much trouble they were all in. "We're so screwed."
"Yep," Sam soulfully agreed, no quip in sight, "absolutely screwed."
A desperate silence fell over the room as the two pondered what they could possibly do.
"Did I say we're screwed?"
"Yep," Sam replied faithfully, pondering the damage that could be done. "When did you get the new roommate?"
"A month ago, she's kinda a bitch. I'm totally looking into a place of my own, now that I'm making a bit more cash I can afford it."
"Well, I guess that's enough stalling, huh?" Sam sighed, staring forlornly at the door.
"Yeah," Rae shifted uncomfortably at the idea of dealing with the large crowd again, of her secret being exposed to her friends, of Dean seeing her all gothed up.
"What the hell is going on?"
"I don't know Sam, all I know is we have to find your brother and you'll have to drag his over excited ass out of here."
They stood in unison, mentally preparing themselves for the monumental task at hand, this wasn't gonna be fun.
"Once more into the breach dear friend?" Rae quipped at Sam, starring up at him, his reassuring smile beaming down at her.
"Oka—" Sam began before being cut off as the door flew open and closed in a nearly instantaneous movement, Dean escaping the mob scene outside into the relative safety of the bedroom.
"Goddamn! Those women are dangerous!" Dean gasped, his back against the door and breathing heavily, red lipstick smeared across his face. "That Jen girl, just damn!"
"Jen? Oh my gods! Dude you were lucky to escape," Rae stared at Dean, slightly dazed and very amused by Dean's behaviour. "Jen is very uh, very confident. You guys 'talked'?"
Dean just sent back a blank look and wiped the lipstick off his mouth with the back of his hand and adjusted his slightly dishevelled clothing which had somehow gotten rumpled.
"Ready to get out of here Dean?" Sam deadpanned, not a trace of humour in his voice though his eyes held silent laughter.
"You've no idea," Dean muttered, his urge to socialize outweighed by his survival instincts.
"Well I guess I'll—" Rae began, only to be cut off by the door being forced open again, Dean and Sam springing to face the intruder. Peter barged into the room, eyes darting around the room.
"Rae I think you're needed out front," Peter seemed a bit agitated.
"Give me a minute man, I just…"
"The cops are here, I think they wanna talk to the person who's name is on the rental agreement," he said apologetically standing aside to allow Rae to leave. She threw a not so subtle look to Sam and Dean who stood frozen, staring at Peter who managed to tower over Sam.
"Uh, dammit! Oh, let me grab my lease agreement, I'll be there in like 30 seconds," Rae temporized, willing Peter to leave her bedroom.
"Okay Rae, just," Peter stared at the invisible Dean and Sam a moment too long for Rae's taste. "Just don't dally, your neighbours seem pretty pissed off."
"I gotcha man, I'm right behind you, just clear a path through the throng eh?"
Peter shrugged and began carving a path through the mass of people outside the door.
"Sorry guys, I gotta…well it's been interesting, and a total reminder as to why I SO need my own place. Check in with me later and I'll…I'm sorry I just gotta go1" Rae threw a look back at Sam and Dean before following Peter back into the madness of the party to deal with her roommate's mess.
