Sorry, it's been way too long! I had to re-evaluate this story to get things back on track because I've had some major writers block. Anyways enjoy!

Cold Feet

Sam P.O.V.

I walked into our bedroom to see Quorra and Gracey curled up in the center of the bed with a warm blanket wrapped around them. Disney Channel was on, playing a show that I was unfamiliar with. I searched for the remote and then muted the TV.

I smiled over at them and walked into the closet, changing out of my work clothes and into a pair of pajamas. When I re-entered the bedroom, a pair of green eyes had settled on me. A large smile was plastered on her face.

"Bonjour," she murmured tiredly as she let out a light giggle before lifting her head up. "That means hello in French, did you know?"

I nodded, grinning. "Hey, Gracey," I murmured quietly as Quorra shifted beside her. She raised an eyebrow at me.

Quorra turned on her other side so her back was facing me, stretching out her limbs. "Sam, it's past midnight, you have a lot of explaining to do," she mumbled, trying to sound fierce but failing miserably. She heaved a sigh.

She sat up then, looking at me briefly before looking down at Gracey. "Let's get you to bed," she murmured as she shook Gracey's side lightly.

"I'll do it," I assured her as I scooped Gracey into my arms easily and started for the door.

"Night, Gracey," Quorra said and Gracey mumbled something back to her. I made my way to her room and placed her in her bed, covering her with her bedding.

She turned on her side and already seemed half-asleep as I straightened back up. "See you in the morning, Gracey," I murmured as I turned her light off beside her bed and kissed her temple.

"Good night," she breathed as she reached up and patted my face, laughing softly.

I grinned and walked out of her room, shutting the door slightly behind me. I made my way back to our bedroom, turning the lights off in the living area on my way. Marvin pawed open Gracey's door and wiggled inside.

Quorra was still in the center of the bed when I entered our room again but I thought she had fallen asleep again. I closed the door to our room with a soft click and sat on the edge of the bed, looking down at her.

"Where have you been?"

"I had some stuff to take care of with Alan after I finished up at ENCOM," I told her. "It took a lot longer than I imagined it would."

She huffed, turning to look at me. "What kind of stuff?"

"You stuff."

She sighed then, reaching a hand out towards me. "You're going to tire yourself out with everything you do," she commented. "I think you should just focus on ENCOM. The detectives are perfectly capable of doing all that on their own," she reminded me, eyeing me critically.

"Not when they're working half-blind," I responded with an easy shake to my head. "Alan and I only intervene when they need our help with something anyways," I assured her.

She looked unconvinced but nodded anyways. She was probably too tired to truly care at this point. I was going to do it anyways if it involved her, whether she liked it or not.

"Anything new?"

I shrugged. "Sort of," I answered. "They really want to get you out of town though. They think something's gong on."

"Like what?"

"I don't know," I admitted. "They said that there are strange patterns that they are making but I don't really see it."

"You'd be a detective instead of a CEO if you could see everything they did," she reminded me as I fell back to lie beside her.

"That's true."

"So?"

I made a face. "They'll make a final decision on Thursday and if need be, you'll be out of here by Friday," I told her with a sigh.

"Do you agree with their decision?" she asked but I could see the hurt in her eyes.

I nodded. "Yes, it's what's best for the two of you."

"Alright, we won't fuss about it then," she murmured as she gave me a playful grin.

I leaned in to kiss the space below her ear. "That's a relief."

"I've been doing a lot of thinking lately," she said as she tapped her head slowly.

"About?"

She lifted a shoulder barely and turned so her back was facing me. She spooned her body against mine and gave me some of the blanket. "My actions and decisions don't affect just me anymore. What happens in my life doesn't affect just me, it affects you, it affects Gracey," she mumbled as her feet brushed up against my legs. "And all the other people that I associate myself with."

"It's amazing how learning physics, chemistry, and calculus came so easy and you're learning that just now," I teased her. "You're feet are really cold," I added as my toes curled and uncurled against the feeling of her ice cold feet.

She giggled, the tiredness slowly leaving her voice. "Learning about mathematics and science is easy for a program," she told me. "A program learning human qualities, on the other hand…" she tilted her head to look at me. "Is much harder."

""You're not just a program."

"But I'm not just a human."

I leaned in and kissed her neck again, letting my arm wrap around her torso. "Yet I still love you."

"You do, don't you?"

I chuckled and nodded my head against her shoulder. "Of course."

"So, I have a question," she said as she turned so she was lying on her back and was looking at me with her large blue eyes.

I grinned, pressing my head against hers. "I might have an answer."

"I was looking at wedding vows today," she told me with a bright gleaming smile. "And I was wondering what kind we'd have."

"Traditional," I answered. "I think anyways. Lora picked out a priest but they don't really contact us until maybe a month in advance about how we want the vows," I said with a shrug. "So we'll here from them in a few weeks probably."

She nodded barely and fell silent, which sparked my curiosity immediately.

"Why?"

"No reason," she murmured as she stretched out once more, pressing her feet against me again.

"Jesus, put some socks on," I teased her as I gave her a gentle shove.

She shook her head, laughing. "You know I hate sleeping in socks," she reminded me.

"I've noticed."

She bit her lip, chewing on it softly.

"If you want different vows, we can always construct our own," I stated.

She made a face. "No, it's not that. I just want a certain set of vows," she told me. "I don't like the one that ends with 'till death do us part.' That's sad, I don't want to think about that," she mumbled.

"That's easy enough to take out. We can do that," I assured as I rubbed my hand over her cheek.

She smiled "I liked the one that ended with 'as long as we both shall live.' Gracey liked that one too," she added.

"We'll choose those vows then," I said to her with an easy shrug.

"Good."

"And now, I have a question for you," I said as I squeezed her hip gently.

She bit her lip and ran her hand down my chest, sighing loudly. "So much talking…" she trailed off before laughing and flicking my nose. "What?"

I held back my laughter at her and pushed the question out. "You sure you want this?"

"Very sure," she answered, giving me an impatient look.

"I mean, you can do anything with your life. You don't have to choose this for me," I said again.

She rolled her eyes at me. "It's not for you," she answered, knitting her eyebrows together to only widen her eyes in the next moment. "You make me happy," she started. "More so when we're not talking…" she trailed off as she gave me a playful wink. I rolled my eyes at her. "This, you're what I want."

I smiled. "Good."

She laughed lightly. "Very good," she murmured. "I won't be running off anytime soon."

"I would hope not."

And with that, she leaned in to kiss me.

Hope you enjoyed it, let me know what you thought! I really hope I still have an audience. Next chapter is complete so it'll be up soon enough!
