A Basket of Rice Balls
10. Shopping
The basket swung about –
a partner for her dance
offset by the tuneless hum
and her aimless spin around.
She slopped some water as she spun
on the bath's high sides:
He stiffens.
It washes the mud from her legs.
But a cleaner touch was
surely better
than a sullied one –
Yes, she'd take her lightened
basket home, clear and clean
and cover herself in mud
all over again.
