Pokѐmon Journey II: Gwyn's Passage

Chapter 27: Last Few Steps

Gwyn's Point of View:

It was good to have my father back. Having him back in my life was so incredible… in all honestly, I never thought I'd see him again in my entire life. Then he's suddenly thrown into it and everything's back to normal with a few twists. Of course I couldn't exactly go home yet since Violet wanted me to finish that challenge I was taking that was also a cover for when Rose was still in the country. Apparently it has to do with her last surprise for me, or so she said that would portray to this region.

The rest of her challenge that she wanted me to partake in was my gym battles with the last gym leaders in the region. The first would be Brock, the rock type gym leader. I already knew I'd be using North Wind in this battle, since she'd never faced once before and wanted to try it out, not to mention that she had the type advantage. After that I would head to Viridian just to the south and face Alex and Vince, probably one of the hardest of the gym leader challenges I'll have the entire time. Though I wasn't sure what pokemon to use yet, and it would most likely be a last minute decision due to the fact that they don't use a specific type of pokemon in battle, they have a verity on their team.

I was riding on the back of North Wind as she carried me over the large distances of the ocean of route twenty-one and running along the land for routes one and two, along with the Viridian Forest. When we were actually back in Cinnabar, Violet decided it would be a good experience for my father and mother to see just how incredible I'd become. She got my father comfortable and ready enough to travel with us to the two cities with a team of medics near by with us to make sure that he'd be okay, not to mention that we had our healing abilities too in case anything happened.

The boys also came along with us, all of them. Tristan and Aaron were their to cheer me on as well while Alex and Vince were there to not only cheer me on, but analyze my skills and see what pokemon would be best for them to use against me. While they knew my team, I'd gotten a bit stronger since the last time they'd seen me battle, and they wanted to brush up on some information. All of them flew on their respective flying pokemon with my parents on the back of Sapphire and Violet was flying on her own set of wings while her own parents came on the backs of Amethyst.

Yeah, a big crowd, I know.

"Not that I'm complaining or anything Violet, but this seems like a lot of people to be joining us while I just go and battle Brock." I turned my head back to the woman who flew confidently threw the air. She simply laughed at me and flew down to my level on the ground, for I was the only one riding my pokemon on the ground level.

"Well…" the woman paused in painful silence just to annoy me a bit and send shivers up my spine. " Your parents wanted to see you battle, especially since your dad hadn't seen you in a long time, the boys naturally wanted to see you since one is your boyfriend and the other your best friend, Alex and Vince wanted to look at your skills and strategies, my parents wanted to watch you as well and also see what Tristan liked since his paper work is all filled out and we're going to be decorating his room soon."

"Oh…"

"Besides, everyone's going to be eager to see this quest I've given you at the end… I am also, and so are my pokemon."

"What are you talking about?" I whipped my head around when hair got into my face and glared at the woman. "You're making it sound as if I'll have another battle to face after I beat the others!"

"Maybe you will, but I never said who…" she grinned and lowered her face close to mine. Our foreheads touched while she smiled madly and I growled. "And you won't find that out until after these last two battles are fought and won."

"…Fine…" I pouted at her. While I really couldn't get truly mad at the woman who taught me most all that I know, it infuriated me that she still kept so many secrets and continued to 'surprise' me.

"Good girl," she patted my head and I snorted at her. "Now the town's coming up and into sight, you'd best get things ready for your battle."

As Violet had said, the city of Pewter came to us quickly at the speeds we were traveling at and we soon landed ourselves before the gym that Violet had told me was the first she'd ever faced when she first became a trainer. She was eager to see how I'd face him after three years of his apparent 'brutal' training that he'd undergone. Violet was eager to see how he'd fair against me, but then again, she always was for some strange reason.

I entered the gym and walking through its electronic doors that led inside. I was shocked to see that the battlefield was entirely made out of rock walls and ceiling and a rocky and sandy floor.

"Greetings Gwyn Jalen! And my many guests including three of my old challengers!" I blinked and looked over at the man on the other side of the field. He was a darker skinned man, like an either due to his genetics or his 'brutal' training he took on for the past few years. He wore a orange long sleeved shirts along with a set of dark green cargo pants with millions of pockets. His hair was dark brown with spikes and I couldn't see his eyes or their color due to them being so close to being closed. "Violet Vilmos! I was wondering when you'd come here and bring along your protégé! And my dear…" he suddenly was across the field and before Violet, taking her hand into his own and holding a rose out for her. "My dear champion, you've become so stunning with your power I can't even see you through all the illuminating light!"

"Hands off!" Alex suddenly was before Brock and kicked the man in the stomach off to the middle of the field where he landed into a large rock. While Violet and the rest of us seemed stunned, Alex let off a bit more steam, Tristan and Haze seemed to be the same way, while Vince laughed his butt off.

"You never change Brock!" He fell over from his laughter even while facing the barrage of slaps from his mother on the back of his head.

"Vince Vilmos! Don't laugh!"

"And you dear Gwyn!" I gasped as I felt my own hand taken up by the same gym leader who was thrown across the room just a minute ago. He looked fine, but also thrilled to see me. "You my dear… I see so much beauty and potential in you! Your glow is as bright and powerful as that of Violet's, so dazzling-"

"Get off my girlfriend!"

"Fuck off!"

Both of my boys suddenly were before me as their legs up in the air from kicking the gym leader back into the rock he was in before. I was as stunned as Violet as I looked over at her and she looked back at me in turn.

"He… never changes…" Violet groaned as she made her way with most of the others to the stands. Once she was seated, she looked over at the gym leader that was already on his feet and ready to try again. "Remember Brock, I need you to test her as you do any trainer."

"Oh Violet, forgive me for being so rude!" He danced around as he made his way back to his side of the field and he took his spot in his trainer box. "Then allow me to show you, dear Champion Gwyn, the true, rock hard power of my rock types! Go Golem!"

From his pokeball came a large pokemon that was about as tall as the gym leader. It was shaped in the form of a large, dark brown rock that had crevasses and cracks in its shell with a set of arms, legs and a head sticking out of it that were all a darker tan color. Its eyes were red and it laughed when it saw me.

I pulled out my pokedex to look it over. Golem, the megaton pokemon and the evolved form of graveler. It sheds its skin once a year. The discarded shell immediately hardens and crumbles away. It is also capable of blowing itself up. It uses this explosive force to jump from mountain to mountain. There are no known golem nests in this region.

"Your rock pokemon doesn't scare me!" I snorted before I pulled out the pokeball I chosen for this match. "Go North Wind!"

My great beast emerged from her pokeball and she cried out "Cune!" to the pokemon on the other side of the field. It blinked at surprise at my legendary beast and looked back to its trainer, who gasped in shock.

"No way… I'd heard legends, but I never thought they were true!" Brock gasped and bowed on the floor. "Mighty Suicune! You truly exist!"

"Ugg…" I groaned and looked over at North Wind, who looked back at me, waiting on an order. "As much as I'm normally against this, I'm not going to wait for you to finish your little 'gratitude session' to North Wind while I have a gym badge of yours to win!" I threw out my arm before me. "North Wind! Let's start out with mist! Then afterward circle around the pokemon and use bubblebeam!"

North Wind jumped right in and rushed off toward the other side of the field while Brock shook himself out of whatever happened to him. A thick fog like mist covered the field and made the viewing much harder for the megaton pokemon. With speed and a bit of misty fog to cover the area, North Wind was much like a ghost traveling through the area as she jumped from rock to rock and the sand to the air, keeping on the move and shifting so much that the golem couldn't see where she actually was. It was like tricking it to thick she was using double team, when she really wasn't!

"Golem!" Brock shouted out to his pokemon. "Knock it off its feet with earthquake!"

The bolder like pokemon jumped into the air and suddenly threw its body down at the ground which caused it to jump and I shrieked at the sudden air that was between me and the ground. North Wind was in the air when the attack took place, but she turned to look at me in fear when she hear my cry.

"Don't worry about me North Wind! Focus on the battle!" I sighed out and placed a hand over my rapid beating heart as I landed back on the ground. "I was just startled!"

She nodded and landed atop of one of the boulders that nearly went to the top of the ceiling before she jumped again and flew over the mist, trying to still confuse the golem.

"Damn…" Brock hissed from the other side. "Golem! Now try rock slide! Destroy anything that's over your head!"

The rock pokemon nodded and rolled across the ground and rushed over to the large rocks that were stuck out of the ground. The one that North Wind was standing on at that moment then crumbled and she stumbled on the falling rock. She quickly spun herself around in the air before landing on the golem's head and jumping off and in another direction before it could hit her.

"Stay out of its reach North Wind!" Man, this was a real gym leader, one I'd not faced in a long time. Or at least this one stood up to the title they held.

"Don't let it get away from you Golem!" Brock shouted out, certainly keeping up with the pace. "Use rock throw!"

The rock pokemon began thrusting its arms out around it and pulling up rocks and part of any solid battlefield and hurling them at my legendary beast. North Wind leapt out of the way and continued to jump and practically dance her way around the field and the attacks that were aimed at her. Brock could only curse and I could only prey that North Wind wouldn't get hit. Her speed was her best trick, as well as her overwhelming ice and water type attacks.

"Now North Wind! Head in toward it!"

"You're crazy!" Brock shouted out as North Wind thrusted her body strait into the barrage of hurled rocks from his own pokemon. "Your pokemon will get hurt!"

"Be quite!" I snapped at him and he went silent in that moment. "I will beat you!" I turned to look at North Wind. "Now North Wind! Use ice beam at its feet and then work up until you've covered its entire body!"

"Ha! With Golem working so hard-" Brock was cut off when he actually saw the ice forming to his golem's body. His eyes surprisingly came out of their small slits and I saw their brown color as he watched his pokemon become encased in ice. North Wind slid toward the opposing pokemon and watched as it entirely became frozen before she jumped over it and landed on her feet calmly. "How?"

"The mist." I couldn't help but grin at him and hear the cheering from my side of the field where the others were. I threw my arm out before me. "North Wind! It'll break out of the ice any second! Charge at it when it starts to break free and use ice fang!"

"No!" Brock's cry was in vain as the ice began to crack around his pokemon and North Wind's eyes went wide before she propelled herself inside. A large crack broke free of the rock pokemon and it weakly looked up to see North Wind leap at it off the ground. It cried out in surprise before pain as North Wind launched a set of ice covered teeth into its rock hard armor. The power of the attack overwhelmed the rock type pokemon and ice shot out of its shoulder from sheer power as the pokemon fell to the ground and North Wind kicked her feet off the other pokemon's body and landed before me.

"Nice! Good job North Wind!" I couldn't help but chuckle at her while she only huffed before walking back to my side, knowing the battle was over.

"Wow!" A new voice that I'd yet to hear startled me from behind as I saw a flash of sleek ice blond hair fly by me and race between me and North Wind. Long, nearly reflective, ice blond hair was on the little girl's head that followed with a pale white completion. Bright emerald green eyes glowed in liveliness as she threw her arms behind her back and held them there as she grinned at me. "That was so cool!" She jumped up into the air and her white sun dress flew up and down with her movement, revealing the jean shorts below. She couldn't be any older then ten from the young looking face she had on her and the energy level that almost matched Aaron's.

"Levy!" I could hear Violet laughing from the stands above. "I was wondering when you'd show up!"

"Hi Violet! Sorry I was so late! Mr. Mewtwo and I were practicing so we could show you some of the new moves we learned while you were busy teaching Miss Gwyn! Oh right!" She turned back to face me and quickly bowed her head. "I'm Levy!" She raised her head back up and held out her hand. "Levy Marveille! I'm another one of Violet's protégés! It's nice to meet you Miss Gwyn!"

"Just Gwyn will do, and it's nice to meet you two Levy." I shook the girl's hand before I glanced over at Violet, who jumped down to our level to join us in my battle box. "Not to be rude though, but why did you come here? And why didn't you," I turned to face Violet entirely, "tell me there was another protégé besides myself?"

"Oh, that's because I don't see Violet very often, that's maybe why she didn't say anything," Levy sighed. "Violet's always really busy, but she tries her best to make time for me when she gets a chance to come home!"

"She also is able to train quite well on her own, and since I'd been very tied up with Rose until the other day, I didn't quite remember to tell you about her." Violet nervously rubbed the back of her head. "Sorry."

"Its not a problem Violet, but knowing that I'm not your only protégé is a bit information I would have liked to know."

"Then I'll let you know in the future if I take on another one." She quickly though turned to the other side of the field. "Oi! Brock! You gonna give Gwyn a badge or are you gonna sulk all day?"

"That's right!" I looked to the other side of the field where the man had just been sulking and suddenly jumped up into the air before he rushed over to our side of the field and take both my hands in his own. "You are an amazing battler Champion Gwyn! I hope I can battle you with my entire team next time we are able to face each other!"

"Sure…"

"Brock!" Levy cried out angrily while stomping her foot. "Give Gwyn her badge! She still has to face the rest of Violet's challenge!"

"Sorry, sorry dear Levy!" Brock released my hands and suddenly took her own and it was in that same second that Violet's foot swung from the side and kicked him into the other side of the gym.

"Don't flirt with a trainer minor!" Violet growled. "Chalcedony!"

The dark type suddenly appeared out of no where, like all dark types tend to do, and suddenly chased after the gym leader of this gym. I groaned and lowered my head, feeling the guilt just pile on me.

Where did I go wrong?

"Ah ha!" I suddenly turned to face Violet and look at what she had. "I got the badge for you Gwyn!" She scrawled then and huffed. "Since Brock's to busy flirting around with Chalcedony, I'll take the honor of presenting you the bolder badge!" She handed me the seventh of my Kanto badges that I was supposed to collect. It shimmered in the light; the metal did anyway, of the silver rimming around the grey color of a stone shaped badge.

That meant only one left to go…

"And now…" I looked over at Alex and Vince who were making their way down from the bleachers to meet up with us. "Only one battle left to go."

HalloweenWitchHalloweenWitch

"No way…" I gasped out as I walked down the path of route two, just outside of the Viridian Forest, while I walked with Levy and my boys. Violet had taken off ahead with the others to get our parents situated and Alex and Vince had time to prepare and think about who they would use in battle. I, on the other hand, was walking with the boys and Levy, who had offered to come with us to get to know me a bit better and spend some time with her sister protégé.

Well… I should say more… floating for Levy rather then walking…

"Whoa… that's pretty cool!" Aaron grinned as he watched the little ten year old girl float in the air.

"Amazing… and you learned this all from your pokemon?" Tristan questioned the girl as she only smiled back at him.

"Yep! Mr. Mewtwo is pretty smart! And so is Mr. Stine!" She laughed as she floated around before landing on Aaron's shoulders and sitting there. "I'm still learning though, and I'm really young still, only ten… but Violet says I'm gonna be an awesome trainer! She even thinks that because of my personality, I could be a legendary pokemon master!" She shrugged. "But we don't really know yet…"

"I think it's great though that you have that kind of ability Levy, your psychic powers and your ability to befriend legendary and rare pokemon." I smiled at the girl. "Is there anything else you want to share with us?"

"I probably shouldn't… I might say something Violet doesn't want me to say…"

I blinked at her. "What do you mean?"

She looked over at me with a pout. "Well… I know the secret about what's gonna happen to you after you beat Alex and Vince, which I know you'll do, and I'm not allowed to tell."

"And you're afraid you may say something that relates to it?"

The girl nodded from where she sat on Aaron's shoulders.

"Well then, tell me something different then, like… how maybe you met Violet for the first time and how you became her protégé?"

"Oh that's a good story!" The girl cheered and clapped her hands. "I met Violet three years ago when I was seven. I was watching her bring her long lost father out of the Cerulean Cave, right outside the city of Cerulean where I used to live, and I fell through the metal railing that was supposed to keep me from going over the edge."

"Oh my Lugia…"

"Don't worry!" Her grin calmed my fears slightly. "Mr. Mewtwo saved me! I met Violet at the same time as I did Mr. Mewtwo and he was my first pokemon friend and pokemon! He stopped my fall mid air and set me down next to him! He and Violet even helped my mom get over her fear of pokemon!"

"Wow… I can't believe Violet did all that…"

"Violet still is an incredible person, and I'm sure she'll continue to 'wow' us in the future as much as she probably is with stories of her past," Tristan said as he walked up and put his arms around me. "But you have your own stories to tell Gwyn, some of which I'm sure you don't like to talk about, but they still are 'awe' striking."

"Yeah! I wanna hear about how you stormed into the radio tower in Goldenrod City, or how you ripped off both of Rose's hands in your last fight in Cinnabar!" Levy jumped up into the air off of Aaron's shoulders and hugged me around my neck. "Please Gwyn!"

"Well, I guess a few stories to make the journey quicker wouldn't hurt…"

After getting done with another story or two for Levy and hearing some more from her, we finally arrived at the Viridian City, and then its gym. Alex and Vince's gym. The last gym in this region that I can face… and the last gym for me to face and finish Violet's strange challenge of proving strength. It looked to be nothing more then an ordinary gym from the outside, but it was entirely possible that it was anything but ordinary on the inside.

My hunch was proved correct once I opened the doors to the gym. Inside was that of a dark battlefield before us. No light was coming from overhead or from any sort of windows, there were none. The only light we had in the building was that of dimly lit tiles of green and red color that were scattered around the gym in certain areas, most of them consisted where trainers would stand in their battle boxes or in the stands were others would be watching. I could barely make out the faces of my parents and Violet's parents in the stands. The Kanto champion herself was over with Alex, giving him a kiss before the battle would start. She turned around to face me and grinned when she saw we had arrived.

"Nice! You're finally here!" She gave Alex a final kiss on his lips and a playful sisterly one on Vince's cheek (which he quickly wiped away, mind you, with a scowl) before jumping off into the stands and finding herself a seat. "Levy! Tristan! Aaron! The lot of you get up here so the match can start!"

"Good luck Gwyn," Aaron said to me while placing a comforting hand on my shoulder. "I know you probably don't need it, but it feels good to say it."

"Thanks Aaron, I'll win it and make you both proud." I covered his hand with my own and gave a squeeze before he nodded and pulled it away.

"Good luck Gwyn! I know you'll do good!" Levy hugged my stomach quickly before she rushed over to Aaron and grabbed his hand, leading him up to the stands. "Come on Aaron! Sit next to me!"

"Good luck." I turned my eyes finally to my boyfriend and I smiled at him. He took the time to gently cup my face and kiss my lips before slowly pulling himself away and walking to our small crowd. He turned back though and winked at me. "Show them how powerful Champion Gwyn Jalen really is."

I gave him a thumb up. "Count on it Tristan!" I turned back to the field before me and all of my pokemon suddenly released themselves from their pokeballs to watch the show. Sunrise jumped onto my shoulder, Ticky perched next to my legs, Scarlet coiled her body before the front door, Shocker took his place at my side as if he was my body guard, and it was North Wind and Cynder who stood before us all and stepped into the field. They were the ones who really wanted to battle the most right now.

"Not a bad pair choice Gwyn," Vince snickered from the other side of the room. "I hope their ready for what we have planned for them then."

"Born ready, now send out your own pokemon so we can get started!"

"Just what we like to hear!" Alex grinned and threw out his own pokeball. "Let's go Tyranitar!" He released a beast that had a pale light green color for its body of armor with spikes on its back and tail, along with black accents and a small section of the middle of its chest covered in darker, pale blue armor that protected its front. It had claws on both legs and hands and stood on its two back legs. Its face came a bit more forward from its structure.

I quickly pulled out my pokedex and pointed it at the beast that quickly hid in the darkness of the room, but was barely visible from the panels it was standing on. Tyranitar, the armor pokemon and the evolved form of pupitar. Its body can't be harmed by any sort of attack, so it is very eager to make challenges against enemies. It has an insolent nature that makes most of their kind not care about others. There are no known tyranitar nests in the region.

"And join him out there Electivire! Let's take Gwyn down!" Vince threw out his own pokeball as well which led to a large pokemon that was mostly yellow and black in color. It stood on its back legs as if it was more a humanoid shaped pokemon with thick fur, especially around its shoulders and face. I saw these cable like things coming out of its back that had small red edges of them and its eyes were a dark red with a black center. It grinned as it looked over at me.

I turned my pokedex then over to it and the screen came up with this pokemon's image and information. Electivire, the thunderbolt pokemon and the evolved form of electabuzz with an electirizer. As its electric charge amplifies, blue sparks begin to crackle between its horns. Heedless of enemy attacks, it closes in, shoves its tails onto the foe, then looses high voltage. There are no known eletivire nests in this region.

Shoot! Their both advantage types over me! At least… in one sense anyway… I looked from one side to the other. Alex's tyranitar had the advantage over Cynder, but was at a disadvantage to North Wind. On the other hand, North Wind was at a disadvantage to Vince's pokemon, while Cynder had no type advantage over anyone. This was going to be a hard battle…

"First move to the challenger Gwyn," Alex gestured at me with his hands as he spoke.

"Come on Gwyn!" Vince shouted out with a laugh. "If you don't hurry, we'll revoke your opportunity and take it for ourse-"

"Cynder! Smokescreen!" With the battlefield already be dark, Cynder glowed and showed up light a glittering fire. She cut out the flames of her mane and hid in the dark and blew out her explosive smoke. "North Wind! Follow right behind her so you don't lose her!" My legendary beast flew after Cynder and stayed hot on her heels as the smoke screen even took up most of the minimal lighting in the room.

"I think you forgot to notice that my tyranitar is a dark type Gwyn, this smokescreen won't stop him." I could hear the frustration and anger in Alex's voice. He thought I was only testing his strength, especially since I'd never seen him battle before.

But that wasn't my plan…

"That wasn't really my idea Alex, and I know fully well that this smoke won't hinder a rock and dark type." I threw my arm out before me and smiled. "Though I have to admit, I'm glad that this is a double battle, gives me more to work with. Now North Wind! Use mist on the smoke screen!"

From my legendary beast's mouth came a glittery mist that mixed into the black ashes that flew in the air already. My two pokemon continued to keep flying around the two pokemon with their attacks going; Cynder's then stopping to give time for North Wind's to take affect.

I could hear laughter from the other side and I soon saw from a crack in the smoke that it was Vince. "Ha! Smokescreen and mist? Your not exactly going to hurt our pokemon like that you know!"

I smiled.
Alex's face went pale and he looked out into the center of the smokescreen, which to his surprise, was clearing. His eyes as well as Vince's went wide when they saw both their pokemon covered in a lightly wetted down smoke and ash mixture that was very condensed on their bodies, mostly in their faces or on their chests. Some of it was still lingering in the air, and I grinned at that.

"You moron! She tricked us-" Alex shouted, but he was cut off by me.

"Now Cynder! Use fire blast!" My fire and water type pokemon out on the field both came halting to a stop before Cynder lit up her mane and shot a ginormous blast of fire at the two opposing pokemon. I quickly watched as the rock type stepped before the electric on and took the blast and explosion head on. I heard the sounds of the blast that echoed in the large room we were in and the entire field was lit up, showing me some things.

I noticed that the smokescreen that I'd blown up was making quick work of some of the few light fixtures that Alex and Vince had hanging around the gym, or at least near the center of it where the fire was really burning up. Other then that, it was only our pokemon out there, nothing more to help us with other then some more lights were down, which meant that sneaking around would play a huge part in this for both sides.

A large screeching cry echoed and I gasped as I watched a patch of the smoke clear and I saw that the tyranitar was the only one of the two of them that seemed to have gotten hurt. The electivire was entirely fine, other then the fact that it was covered head to toe in dampened soot. It stood there, hiding behind the tyranitar, wiping its eyes to try and see, or see as well as anyone could in the quickly coming on darkness.

"Great job Tyranitar! Nice on the save!" Alex was quick to praise his pokemon before he looked over at his battle partner. "Ready Vince?"

"Always Alex!" Vince grinned and turned toward the field. "Electivire! It's your turn to attack! Use flash and then swift!"

Suddenly the field was illuminated in a fiercely bright light that caused me and my pokemon to cry out in surprise. I shielded my eyes with my arm and tried to see anything beyond the glare. All I could see was something sparkling and it was racing toward my two pokemon.

"North Wind! Cynder! Move!" Both of my pokemon dived to the sides and I gasped as the attack then raced at me. I heard Scarlet screech and suddenly her tail and body was wrapped around me. "Scarlet!"

"Kya!" She cried out from the pain, but quickly eased my worries that she was fine. I saw a bit of scraping on her tail from the attack as the light dimmed away and we slowly settled back into the darkness. I had to wipe away and shake my head to really allow my eyes to adjust back into the dark lighting. This must be why they had the gym set up as such, to use that flash attack to blind their opponents and use the light and darkness to confuse and allow them to attack when a pokemon is blinded.

Scarlet moved her tail away from around me, but kept it next to me incase she needed to do so again. I gasped when I looked out onto the field. Both of my pokemon had been hit by the swift attack in the mist of the chaos of that blinding spell. I could see North Wind supporting one of her legs from some heavy damage to it.

"Sorry about that Gwyn, you okay?" I looked over to see Vince calling over at me under Alex's harsh gaze that he probably should have warned me a bit better or been more careful when unleashing his swift attack.

"I'm fine, don't worry about me!" I looked over to my pokemon. "North Wind, Cynder, you two both okay to continue?"

"Cune!" North Wind shook out the leg that was injured and stood on it carefully. She nodded back to me and looked back out to our opponents on the other side of the field.

"Sion!" Cynder blasted a heavy dose of fire out of her pours for her fine mane and grinned. She was so ready to kick some butt.

But now I need to think up another strategy. I looked to the other side of the field and watched the boys intently. It wouldn't surprise me if they used that flash trick again and use the momentary brightness to attack with Electivire, which means I need to take that thing out, which shouldn't be took hard if I can hit it with a fire attack from Cynder, with those remaining ashes stuck to its fur. I watched the said electric pokemon kept rubbing its thick fur to get the attached soot out of it.

I looked over at its heavily armored guard who growled at my looking. But the problem is its protector, Alex's tyranitar… that thing has armor that's so thick… North Wind's gonna have a heck of a time breaking through that… which means…

"Any time now Gwyn would nice!" Vince yelled impatiently.

"Just remember that you're facing a former champion and Violet's brother here, not much can get by us!" Alex grinned from the other side.

So that means I need to overpower them… but how? Cynder's blast burn wouldn't make that much of a dent into that tyranitar's armor, I need an ice or water move to take it out, and I don't think hydro pump would be enough… I need a move so powerful that it'll take out that pokemon in one single strike!

"Alright, enough with this waiting around!" I blinked as I saw the tyranitar racing toward my side of the field. "Take them out with hyper beam tyranitar!"

I gasped as I watched the beast lumber forward and screech before a large beam of light out of the darkness appeared before its mouth and was shot forward at us.

I raced my mind to think of a move that would counter such a powerful attack in less then two seconds. I ran out of time, North Wind and Cynder were sent flying in the air to the area before me. They were loosing energy fast as the tyranitar was gaining up on them and coming closer for a more powerful hit.

My brain suddenly clicked. That's it! I know the move!

"Time's up Gwyn!" Alex grinned. "And good-bye Johto Champ! Your winning streak ends here!" He threw his arm forward in the direction of his tyranitar. "Finish them up with hyper beam!"

"Counter it North Wind and take out that tyranitar! Use all the power you got, don't hold back!" I shrieked out to my legendary beast of water. "Use sheer cold!"

North Wind suddenly screamed out and her eyes glowed white before a thick fog like beam entered the air from her mouth that moved toward the tyranitar.

The opposing pokemon continued on as if it hadn't of heard me and fired off its hyper beam, sending it flying right at North Wind who had jumped up and stepped before Cynder. The two blasts met and, shocking, the hyper beam literally froze from the power of the sheer cold and shattered it before it reached over and grabbed the tyranitar in its nippy claws of cold. The attack wrapped entirely around the beast and I could hear the crystallizing form on the armor and cracking, it wasn't lasting…

With a final cry from the beast, it was surrounded by the fog like breath of instant killing ice. The icy fog suddenly disappeared and the ice began to break under the weight and the beast fell to the ground. I stared at it for a moment, catching my breath before I looked back up at the stunned boys and electivire on the other side, even Violet seemed to hold a surprised look upon her face.

"Now let's finish this up!" Vince and Alex raced to look back at me in shock and surprise. "Now Cynder! Blast burn!" With a roaring cry, my fire type unleashed her most powerful move that spiraled toward the remaining pokemon on the field. I could see its face just as the fire hit it and an explosive sound echoed in the air and a body flew. It was thrown into the other wall behind Vince. He turned to look, Alex followed after his action. Suddenly everyone was looking in the same direction and I collapsed from the adrenaline rush I was feeling. It was still echoing in my veins, I still had so much energy… but I needed a quick breather…

"No way…" I heard Levy gasp from the audience. "She won!"

"Go Gwyn!" Aaron cried out happily.

"Congratulations!" I heard my boyfriend call out.

I looked up to face the small cheering crowd I had and I saw Violet grinning wildly back down at me. I watched as she actually burst out laughing and all the cheering stopped when she did so. All were confused, as was I. I blinked up at her before I felt a tapping on my shoulder. I turned from a strangely acting Violet to look at the two gym leaders that I'd just beaten.

"Don't worry about Violet right now, rejoice a bit!" Vince laughed as he slapped my shoulder and swung his arm around me. "Don't worry; she's just happy for you and laughing at how we lost."

"I'm sure that's all it is Vince." Alex shook his head and stepped before me. "You battled amazingly Gwyn, I'm very proud that the two of us got to face, and I'm even more honored to present you with your final gym badge of the Kanto region, the earth badge." Alex pulled from his pocket a small stock like, plant looking badge that was shades of light and pale green. I grinned at it and took it from his hands and showed it to all my pokemon.

"You guys! We got it! Our final gym badge!" My entire team erupted into cheers and ended up in the middle of the battle field together with me. We cheered together and laughed for a moment before the people that had been sitting up above soon came down to congratulate us. My friends and parents were at the head (and made up of) most of that pack.

"Gwyn! Sweetie, you did it!" My father was the first to reach me, shockingly on his still recovering body and legs, and took me into his arms before swinging me all around. My mother rushed over next and hugged the both of us.

"Oh your amazing Honey! I can't believe you got all sixteen badges!" She squealed and squeezed me tight in her grip.

"Mother! Can't breathe!"

"Oh, sorry!" She quickly let me go and I fell backward into my father's chest. He helped me steady myself and set me back on my feet.

I shook my head at her. "Don't worry about it Mom."

"Its good to see that you finally got your last gym badge Gwyn, congratulations!" Ivory Vilmos said to me as she walked over with Haze.

"Yeah, man you're strong. You think sometime in the future you might battle me?" Ivory elbowed her husband and he cried out at that. "What? It's just a question!"

"She just finished battling your son and Alexander for crying out loud! Give the girl some space and time to catch her breath!" And just like that the two of them began to bicker and what not while the others slowly made their way around them.

"My father can plan a battle with you later on if he wants, but you did it Gwyn," Violet walked up and held out her hand to me. "You got all the gym badges in both of these regions. You get to move on to your last and final test of strength, and in this battle, it won't matter if you win or lose, just do you best and fight with your pokemon's entire strength so you have no regrets."

I shook her hand. "Thanks, and okay… but why is the 'winning rule' wavered in the final test? Who am I facing?"

Violet laughed as she pulled her hand away and rested her hands on my shoulders, pressing her forehead to mine again. "Because Gwyn dearest, your final battle is going to be against me."

The room went silent.

Violet turned to look at the youngest of us all. "Levy, take Gwyn up the path to the pokemon center at the base of Mt. Silver, I'll be preparing and inviting others to its peak while I wait for her to scale the mountain." She looked back at me. "Get a good night sleep over at that pokemon center Gwyn, your going to need it inside my mountain."
