Disclaimer: I do not own Kuroshitsuji!

But I DO own Juliet (Kathryn)!

Sorry for not updating in a while! I've been sooo busy doing a bunch of school and family stuff. And, I'm a procrastinator.

I've started a Kuroshitsuji fan Instagram page. My username is kuroshitsuji_expert if you wanna check that out.

Also, I need you guys to vote on something very important. At the end of this fanfic, Sebastian will either stay or go. Which do you guys want to happen? You can either send me a PM or leave a review saying which you want to happen. I don't know when the voting will end, but I'll tell you guys a few chapters in advance.

On with the story!

Enjoy!

. . . . . . . . . . . . .

When I woke up, I was laying on a soft mattress, the covers pulled up to just below my chest. I had a slight headache. My whole body was aching, to be honest. I heard the faint sound of china clinking together from somewhere beside me. I slowly opened my eyes and rubbed them with my hands. I looked over to the side, and I was Ciel sitting in a chair he had pulled up to my bedside, a teacup and saucer in hand.

"Ciel." I said quietly. He looked from his tea up to me, and gave a soft smile.

"Hello, Katheryn." he greeted. "Or can I can I you by your real name now?" 'I suppose it's all over now. . . Why not?'

"Of course, Ciel." I said with a small smile.

"Juliet. . ." he murmured. "I like that name for you much better." he said with a smile. I loved the way my name formed on his lips and rolled off of his tongue. I wanted him to say it again.

"How long have I been asleep?" I asked.

"Almost two days." Ciel said.

"Two what?!" I asked, my eyes widening.

"You heard me." he said with a smirk. "Two days. You must have been tired, Juliet."

"I suppose I was." I said, rubbing my forehead. "What happened?" I asked.

"After Sebastian showed up," Ciel said, setting his tea down on the nightstand. "he took us back to the manor. I told him to patch up your wounds and put you to bed. Not much has happened these past two days, besides the loneliness I've felt. The servants have missed your presence, as well." he said, folding his hands together in his lap. "I was a bit worried when you didn't wake up after a little while, but Sebastian said you must have been very tired and to let you sleep." I nodded blankly and carefully laid a hand on my stomach, staring upwards. It was still a bit sore from what had happened.

"I'm sorry for worrying you, Ciel." I said quietly.

"There's nothing for you to apologize for, Juliet." he said, and I heard him stand from his seat. I saw him leaning over me, a smile on his face. "I'm just glad you're safe." he whispered, leaning forward and placing a small kiss on the tip of my nose. His breath smelled like tea.

"I love you, Ciel." I said, smiling to myself.

"I love you, too. . . Juliet. . ."

. . . . . . . . . . . . .

Tears welled up in my eyes from the pain. I tried my best to hold them back. I refused to let him think I had been defeated.

"Get away from her!" my father shouted, struggling in his restraints. "I swear I'll kill you, bastard!"

"Shut your mouth, before I kill her!" the strange man roared loudly, holding his whip up again. My father clamped his mouth shut, chewing on the inside of his cheek.

"That's better." he said. Blood was dripping from the whip and onto the floor, staining it red.

Red; the color of blood. Blood; what's in our bodies. Bodies; all that's left of my parents.

He put away his weapon and pulled out his gun once more. "Who wants to die first?" he asked, tapping his thumb against the side of it. Absolute silence followed his question. He smirked.

"How about I pick for you?" then, he slowly began walking towards my mother. Her brown eyes were wide with fear. My father glared daggers at him as he silently watched him. He crouched down beside her and held the barrel of the gun to her temple. He looked over to my father and said, "Say one word. . ." my father remained silent.

"So obedient." the man said teasingly. He placed his finger over the trigger, and tapped it twice. "It would be such a shame to see a beautiful woman like you die." he said, fake sadness in his voice. My mother stared angrily at the floor, refusing to even look at his face.

The man reached out a gloved hand and grabbed her chin, forcing her to look at him anyways. "Look at me when I'm talking to you, Caroline." he said, purring her name. "Or am I going to have to persuade you to?" my mother shook her head, glaring lightly at the man.

"You know who I am, don't you, Caroline?" he asked, a small smirk on his face. Mother furrowed her eyebrows and shook her head once more.

"No." she said quietly, her smooth and soft voice ringing in my ears.

"That's too bad. . . My lady." he said, smirking. My mother's eyes widened, and she gasped.

"You-" she started, but was cut off.

"Now you recognize me, Caroline." he said, chuckling. 'She knows who he is?!' "Too bad you won't live to tell anyone." he said, pulling back the hammer of the gun, the sound of a gun being placed in it's chamber filling my ears. 'No. . .'

"No!" my father and I shouted at the same time.

"Yes." the man said. He brought my mother's face to his, and placed his lips on hers. My father turned red in the face. He began shouting for him to get his lips off of her.

I noticed something then that I had never realized before: My mother's eyes were lifeless.

"Mother!" I shouted as the man started to pull back the trigger.

"No!" the sound of a gun going off rang in my ears. My mother fell to the floor, her head bleeding. She was limp and lifeless.

"You bastard!" my father shouted at the top of his lungs. I was screaming in agony for the sudden and traumatic loss of my mother. . . right before my very eyes. The man quickly moved over to him, crouching in front of him.

"Shut up, Maxwell." he growled, pressing the gun barrel to the side of his head. He grabbed his chin and pushed his lips onto my father's. I stared with wide eyes, a mixture of horror and anger flowing in my veins. 'Why is he kissing father?'

I noticed something then that I had never realized before: My father's eyes were lifeless.

Then, he pulled the trigger for the gun. I screamed in anger and agony as realization hit me: I was an orphan. He killed my parents.

"You bastard!" I shouted loudly. Tears were streaming down my cheeks in rivers. I wailed loudly in mourning for my parents.

"What do we do with this one?" one of the men, who I would later know to be Thanatos, asked.

"I'll let you have a little fun with her." the man said, and he patted his stomach. "I don't need her at the moment."

"Let me go!" I screamed.

"We can do this the easy way or the hard way." the man holding me said. He lifted up a fist and hit me on the top of the head. Everything went black.

. . . . . . . . . . . . .

I jumped up and let out a small scream. I had fallen asleep in the library again. It was about a week since Ciel and I had been kidnapped and this was all over. . . or so we thought. We had already told the servants about who I really was. They were surprised, to say the least. Thankfully they weren't angry with me for not telling them.

"What's the matter?" Ciel shouted as he and Sebastian raced into the room.

"Nothing." I breathed, panting lightly. "Just a nightmare. I apologize for scaring you." I said, pressing a hand to my chest. I couldn't stop thinking about it now. I looked up to the gaze of Ciel. Concern was in his visible blue eye. I looked up to the face of Sebastian next. That's when it hit me.

I stared at Sebastian with wide eyes. Sebastian was a demon. Demons eat souls. Sebastian raised his eyebrows and asked, "Is everything alright, my lady?" I couldn't find my voice. It had totally disappeared. I was speechless.

"Y-You. . ." I managed to choke out, taking a small step back. Demons eat souls. No, it couldn't be true. The person that killed my parents couldn't possibly be a demon. It wasn't logical; was it? But, my parents. . . their eyes. . . they were lifeless. . . before he ever pulled the trigger. . . Every action that made no sense before made sense now. "You're a-a-a" my breaths became short, and I found myself panting for breath. It couldn't be right! What would a demon want with my parents?!

. . . . . . . . . . . . .

Ciel's POV

Sebastian and I rushed into the library when we heard Kath- err- Juliet scream. When we got there, she was standing in front of a chair, panting lightly.

"What's the matter?" I asked loudly as I rushed to her side, Sebastian right beside me.

"Nothing." she said, a bit breathless. "Just a nightmare. I apologize for scaring you." she said, placing a hand over her chest. She was staring at the ground. 'At least she's alright. . .'

She looked up at me, and I stared right back at her. Something didn't seem quite right. There was something she wasn't telling me. What was it, and why? Then, she looked up to Sebastian. Her blue-gold eyes widened.

"Is everything alright, my lady?" Sebastian asked her.

"Y-You. . ." she breathed, taking a tiny step back. Did he do something to her? I eyed Sebastian with a bit of suspicion. "You-re a-a-a" she said, and she began breathing heavily. 'Demon? So what? She already knows. Why is she panicking?'

"What is it, Juliet?" I asked, leaning in a bit closer to her. I saw her eyes begin to glaze over.

"S-Seb-bastian?" Juliet asked nervously, not answering my question.

"Yes, Miss Juliet?" Sebastian asked, an inquisitive expression on his face.

"H-How. . ." Juliet started, then she took a deep breath and gulped. "How does a-a d-demon. . . um. . . eat a soul?" she asked. This question caught me off guard, and my eye widened. 'What in the devil makes her ask that?' Sebastian seemed a bit reluctant to answer.

"Answer her question." I said to Sebastian. He glanced at me and nodded.

"Yes, my lord." he answered. Then, he looked Juliet straight in the eye. "A demon consumes a soul by mouth-to-mouth contact." he said bluntly. 'Mouth-to-mouth? That means. . .' I stared at Sebastian with a wide eye. 'When my revenge is taken care of, he's going to kiss me to eat my soul?!' Juliet let in a shaky breath, and a tear slipped down her cheek. She quickly wiped it away with her finger.

"Must there be a contract for a demon to take a person's soul?" she asked quietly, her voice trembling.

"No, Miss Juliet. It is not required." Sebastian answered. 'No contract? Then that means he could have my soul whenever he wishes. . . That's a bit scary.' Juliet covered her mouth with her hand and stared at the ground, tears spilling over.

"Why would you ask those things?" I asked softly, stepping a bit closer to her. Then, she whispered something into her hand that I could not hear. Sebastian's usually narrow eyes widened for a moment. He must have heard it.

"Pardon?" I asked.

"My parents. . ." she said, removing her hand from her mouth. Then, she looked me straight in the eye and spoke.

"My parents were killed. . . by a demon!"

. . . . . . . . . . . . .

Juliet's POV

I was in the kitchen, having a chat with Bardroy. We had already made lunch, so we were just talking about this and that. I leaning against a counter, my elbows propped up behind me. Bardroy was smoking a cigarette and hunched over a counter, his elbows resting on it, a smirk evident on his face. I was just about to leave when I saw a face in the window. It was terrifying. I screamed loudly.

"What?!" Bardroy shouted as he spun around. He saw it too, and yelled in surprise. In the blink of an eye, it was gone. Bardroy and I clutched each other tightly, staring with wide eyes at the window. We just had the life scared out of us.

"What happened?" Sebastian shouted as the door burst open. Bardroy and I looked to Sebastian, and we began talking loudly at once.

"-Face in the window-" I shouted over Bardroy.

"-Terrifying! Of all my years in war-" Bardroy shouted over me. Sebastian seemed to be having a difficult time trying to understand us.

"One at a time!" a different voice shouted, another person walking into the room. It was Ciel. "Now, one of you, what happened?"

"There was someone in the window!" I said, my eyes still wide.

"He needed a makeover!" Bardroy said next. I would have laughed, but I was still too scared to.

"Sebastian," Ciel said, turning to him. "go inspect the grounds and search for any signs of disturbance."

"Yes, my Lord." Sebastian said, bowing and walking off.

"Are you two alright?" Ciel asked, turning to us with a stoic face. I could see the concern in his blue eye.

"We're fine." Bardroy said, lighting another cigarette since the other fell out of his mouth.

"Besides the fact that I nearly had a heart attack." I said, placing a hand over my chest and leaning against the counter behind me.

"That makes two of us." Bardroy said, letting out a deep breath.

"Take a break, Bardroy." Ciel said.

"Yes, Master." Bardroy said, a small smile on his face.

"Kath- err, Juliet," Ciel said. He and the others were still getting used to calling me by my real name. "come with me." I nodded and followed him out the door, shutting it softly behind me. I turned to see Ciel smiling gently at me, a hand outstretched. I returned his smile and took his hand.

Ciel led me to his study, and he closed to door behind us. He let go of my hand and walked over to his desk, sitting down in his seat. He motioned for me to come closer. I stepped up to his desk.

"Have a seat." he said. I looked around, but there weren't any more chairs in the room.

"Where?" I asked, raising an eyebrow at him. He smirked and patted his lap.

"Ciel." I said, sighing. "You have work to do."

"I'm going to do it." he said.

"Won't I distract you?"

"Probably." this made me laugh. "But I don't care. I want you in here with me."

I laughed again and repeated, "Probably." in my best impersonation of Ciel. Instead of lying and saying 'no', he said 'probably'. That was just so funny to me. Ciel chuckled, and I laughed.

"Come on." Ciel said, sitting back in his seat. I sighed softly and walked around the desk. Ciel turned around in his chair and outstretched his arms. I smiled softly and sat down on his lap, wrapping my arms around his neck as his wrapped around my waist.

"I love you." Ciel said.

"I love you, too." I said, stroking his soft hair with one hand. He turned his chair to face his desk, and lifted one hand from my waist and reached for a paper. He gently laid the side of his head down on my chest, since his face was about level with it.

After a few moments, there was a knock on the door. "Come in." Ciel called, lifting his head and sitting up straight in his seat again. The door opened, and Sebastian stood in the doorway. His thin eyebrows raised when he saw us, then he smirked lightly briefly. Then, his face went blank again. He stepped inside and shut the door behind him.

"I searched every inch of the grounds. I found no signs of disturbance." he said.

"Hm." Ciel said, leaning back in his seat, me following with him. He stared at Sebastian, and tapped his finger against the arm of the chair.

"Is there something you're not telling me?" Ciel asked after a moment. Sebastian's eyebrows raised.

"My Lord. . ."

"Don't lie to me, Sebastian. Tell me what you're thinking."

". . ." Sebastian seemed reluctant to answer.

"I order you to tell me." Ciel said, giving him a hard look.

". . . There was someone here." Sebastian said after a moment of silence. My eyebrows raised at this.

"I thought you said you found no signs of disturbance?" Ciel asked, raising an eyebrow.

"I didn't, my Lord." Sebastian answered. "I sensed something nearby, but it was so strong that I couldn't tell where it was coming from."

"Something?" I asked. Sebastian's eyes went to mine.

"It was a demon." my eyes widened. 'Could it be. . .'

"A demon?" Ciel asked. "What was he doing here?"

"I'm not sure, my Lord." Sebastian answered. "But I have a feeling. . ." Sebastian's voice trailed off, and he averted his eyes from us, staring off to the side somewhere.

"Keep going, Sebastian." Ciel said. "Tell me." Sebastian's eyes slowly came back to us.

"I cannot be sure my Lord, but. . . I have a feeling that. . . the demon was after. . ." he trailed off, and averted his eyes again for a split second, then looked back at us, straightening his back even more than before. His answered scared both Ciel and me.

"Miss Juliet."

. . . . . . . . . . . . .

I was sitting in bed, in my nightgown, holding my laced hands together tightly and staring forward. It was late at night. I should have been asleep, but I was too scared to sleep. What if the demon came back? What if he really was after me? What if it was the demon that killed my parents?!

A single tear rolled down my cheek, and I brushed it away with my fingertip. 'I will not cry.'

The door began to open, and I gasped. I grabbed a pillow- the nearest thing to me- and held it up, standing from my seat on the bed. I stared with panicked eyes as the door opened all the way.

"Juliet?" a soothing voice asked. A boy my age stepped into the room, his feet bare. He wore a long, white nightshirt and an eye patch over his right eye.

"Ciel." I breathed in relief. I put the pillow down and let out a long breath.

"You were hoping to defend yourself with a mere pillow?" Ciel asked, smirking cruelly.

"Oh, hush. It was all I had." I said, glaring playfully at him. Ciel chuckled, and walked over to me. His navy blue hair shone in the moonlight. I saw something gleam against the moonlight in Ciel's hand. "What's this?" I asked, pointing to Ciel's hand. He held it up, and in his palm was a revolver.

"What are you doing with that?" I asked a bit nervously.

"It's for protection." Ciel said, placing it under a pillow and gesturing for me to scoot over. I moved over to the other side of the bed, and I crawled under the covers, Ciel following.

"What are you doing?" I asked, arching an eyebrow.

"I'm staying in here with you tonight." Ciel answered. "I don't want you to be alone in case something happens. I smiled softly and laid my head down on a pillow. I watched as Ciel took off his eye patch and laid it down on the nightstand.

The satanic symbol on his eye was now visible, somewhat hidden behind his hair. That satanic symbol was just a reminder to me that once Ciel got his revenge, he would be gone, and I would be alone again. I chose not to think about it.

"You're such a worrier, Ciel." I said as I snuggled into his outstretched arms. I laid my head against his chest and breathed into his nightshirt. He smelled like tea. And, he smelled safe. I felt that as long as I was with Ciel, everything would be alright, no matter what situation we were in.

"I can't help it." Ciel said. "I'm even more worried now that there's a chance of a demon after you."

"Thanks for the reminder. I completely forgot." I said sarcastically.

"Sorry." Ciel said nervously.

"Don't apologize." I said softly, crossing my arms over my chest and closing my eyes. I felt Ciel lay his chin down on the top of my head. After a moment, Ciel spoke up again.

"Juliet?" he asked quietly.

"Yes?" I responded just as quiet.

"I promise I'll protect you." he said, and pulled away enough to look at me. He gently took hold of my chin with one hand, keeping the other wrapped around me. He tilted my head up so I was looking at him. "I won't let anything hurt you. I promise to you that even if it costs me my life, I'll sacrifice my life for your happiness." my eyes went wide.

"Ciel. . ." I whispered. I smiled softly at him. "Don't sacrifice your life for my happiness. Because, you are my happiness, Ciel." I said, placing a short and small kiss on his lips. "I love you." a faint pink dusting covered Ciel's cheeks at my statement. He still smiled, though.

"I love you, too." he said, kissing me back. "I'm still going to protect you. I promise."

"Thank you, Ciel." I said, smiling at him. Ciel closed the distance between us and placed his lips over mine in a sweet and passionate kiss that seemed to last forever.

In that moment, I realized something. What I said was true: Ciel was my happiness. I loved him, and he loved me. Of course, he's going to die someday. We all will. But who's to say I won't die before him? I decided that in that moment, I would cherish every moment we spent together, and treasure every kiss we shared, every hug, every glance, every word. Life is very short, so live it to the fullest. No matter where I was, as long as I had Ciel with me. . .

I was complete.

. . . . . . . . . . . . .
