Pokѐmon Journey II: Gwyn's Passage
Chapter 29: A Visit to the Past
Gwyn's Point of View:
Violet's plea to start the IPHP League was still going after a month from where she and I battled on the top of the mountain. She was still waiting for a reply from the committee on her decision, as were all the rest of us who offered to join, and while she waited, Levy and I trained out the mountain with her.
It was interesting to see the little girl battle, even if she only was ten years old, but it was refreshing as well. I learned that her "Mr. Mewtwo" pokemon was actually this genetically engineered pokemon from another's DNA, who was also a legendary pokemon… it was incredible, and was a challenge to battle, but fun as well. Since Levy was a psychic child, she was able to speak mentally with Mewtwo, they were able to think out strategies and moves all in their head without the worry of shouting out and making a mistake. But since Levy was still very young, she still needed a lot of guidance and protection from her pokemon, which is why Mewtwo acts as a body guard to her. He's very protective of her and Levy loves to allow the pokemon out so she can just plop herself on his shoulders and just ride along there.
He was her only pokemon though, which made it hard to have a real battle against her, but they made up for it in spirit.
Living out on the mountain with those two girls was quite interesting. I found out that Violet plays a hefty bill to keep the place warm and livable about three times out of the year, the only time she didn't was summer, where a rare occurrence of grass and flowers and most of the trees would bloom on its peak over the partially frozen ground. It was special types of rare plants and what not that could live in these sorts of climates. We were actually in the middle of the long winter months at the moment, summer had just ended and the cold and snow had settled in for the next nine months.
I found out real quick it was pretty good to keep a jacket on you at all times.
It was a pretty laxing day for us up on the mountain. I hadn't seen my boyfriend or Aaron in a while due to the fact that they wanted to spend some time with their families (Violet's family or Tristan's new family in his case), but I've had plenty of calls from them. Tristan was extremely pleased when he got sketch books and all sorts of art supplies for being an artist with. I was shocked to see that his work was amazing! I didn't know that Tristan ever had a knack for art until Violet explained to me that when they were demolishing the base in Viridian and got to his room, they saw some of his drawings and Violet kept them to show him later on and give back to him. Tristan seemed to have such an eye for things and loved to spend most of his time (when I'm not around and sometimes when I am) drawing or painting. He showed me a few that he'd made of my pokemon that he remembered for my battle with Violet. They were incredible! I couldn't stop gushing over his work, and I'd never seen his face so red in all the time I'd known him.
Aaron, on the other hand, had found a passion in teaching younger trainers about pokemon, so he decided to help out over at his grandparents just south of Goldenrod City where they owned a daycare for pokemon and people. Aaron did tend to do well around children and pokemon is his passion, so it wasn't a surprise when I heard about this. It would do him good to spend some time with them and learn some patience, some well needed if you asked me… But it was good to hear that he was doing well over there and starting to learn about breeding as well, which fascinated him. He was helping Professor Elm complete more pages on the pokedex with all the breeding some trainers did and rare pokemon that were brought by to bring about more pages in the pokedex. Professor Elm was so pleased about that, and to find out that we'd helped finish the entire Johto region pokedex (of course with a little help from Violet, Vince and Alex) he'd then asked us to help him find pokemon from all over the world and join in a side quest of Violet's to find every single pokemon in the world and bring back information for her professor.
We had our pokedex up graded a long time ago after I'd beaten the pokemon league by the professor. Violet told me that there was a total of six-hundred and forty-nine that we knew of so far from all over the world, and Ticky was one of them that came from another region that we'd yet to visit. She wasn't even apart of the region that we planned to head to after we're able to establish our organization. Neither was Vince's electivire or Violet's ryperior that stayed mostly with her mother and father. I couldn't wait to see what we would run into in these new regions!
Violet had been called down a while ago about some of the planning that needed to be done about the organization and hear her ideas for it, being as she is the head of this idea. While she was gone, Levy and I were left up to our own devices, but of course, that left us bored without Violet to keep us entertained or drill us in training.
So that's where I found myself later calling up my boyfriend to see what he was doing.
"-it sounds like things are starting to get a little boring up there for you," Tristan commented to me after we'd said our greetings to each other.
"Yeah, is there anything that you want or think that we could do for the day? Levy and I are bored out of our minds up here on the mountain." I sighed and leaned back into the fur of Cynder who was sleeping on my large king sized bed with me, along with all the others except Scarlet, who had decided she wanted to swim through the waterfalls and rivers inside the mountain.
"Well, why don't you come down for a while and spend some time with us? We could go out for a picnic, the four of us. And wouldn't a nice place be over in Ilex Forest?"
"Well… yeah, that would be a nice place… but why so far over?"
"We could have Aaron get lunch for us and he could bring over the sandwiches from that restaurant up the road from his grandparents that you liked, you know, the one with the many types of breads-"
"Really?" I gushed at her. "We'll get sandwiches from there?"
"Of course, and I'll get Mom to pack a few other things for us. She looks quite excited right now as she listening in on me."
"Oh that sounds wonderful!" I jumped from the bed and rushed after my bad. "Just give me a bit to gather up my things, pokemon and Levy and we'll meet you and Aaron over at the shrine. Should I call Aaron or you?"
"I'll do it, since he doesn't have very far to go compared to the rest of us and I'm sure you have a few things you have to do and leave a note for Violet should she come back and your not there." I heard him chuckle. "I'll see you in an hour or so Gwyn, love you."
"I love you too Tristan, and thanks!" I quickly hung up and rushed off to find Levy. Today wasn't going to be as bad as I thought it was.

An hour of so later, Levy and I were well on our way to the Ilex Forest were we planned to meet up with the boys for lunch. It was a beautiful day to be down from the mountain, so long as you had a good jacket with you're for the nippy winds that seemed to chill you.
Levy though was happy to get off the mountain as well. She was flying through the air and around her pokemon, Mr. Mewtwo, who kept quite an eye on her, though tried to mask his worry about her with a smile. Levy saw right through it however and would dive from time to time and force the worried pokemon to dive after her. I would roll my eyes at the two of them and their relationship, warning them that I'd leave them behind if they didn't come back, and grudgingly, Levy would return with Mr. Mewtwo at her side.
We finally made it to the forest around one and we dropped down to the ground in order to head into the forest. It was a short walk to the shrine and once we got there, Aaron was there and waiting for us with the sandwiches in hand.
"Aaron!" Levy cried out and hurried over to the boy and smothered him in a hug. Mewtwo happily levitated the sandwiches out of his hands while Aaron happily picked up the girl and swung her around like a rag doll.
"Hey there Levy!" He set her down and ruffled her hair. "Ready for the picnic?"
"You bet! And I get to spend time with you!" Aaron blinked at that for a moment before he smiled and nodded his head and took Levy and turned her around toward us.
"Well then, we best get the blanket set up since Tristan should be here most any moment."
"What's that about me Aaron?" I suddenly whipped my head around and saw my boyfriend with a large cooler filled with goodies for us. I giggled and hurried over to him to hug him and give him a light kiss.
"It's good to see you too." Tristan blinked at me for a moment before he smiled.
"So, about this lunch…?"
"Aaron!" Laughter filled the area as Levy jumped up and hit him lightly on the back of the head.
"Alright, let's eat before this glutton eats before us." Aaron yelled at Tristan's comment but didn't do much against it since we were planning to eat now anyway.

A short while later we found ourselves before the shrine just to look it over once lunch was done. It was an older building that quite a dark wood and seemed to have been there for at least a few hundred years. Some moss was growing on it in patches as well as flowers that seemed to grow around them. I think they were called climbing roses. It gave the shrine a nice look to it, and when the sun shined on it, it gave it a more ancient look to it. Tristan said he had to sketch it down, and I didn't blame him. He brought his pad and planned to do the coloring later, since he wanted to spend time with me, but he was okay with the fact of just getting down the image first.
"So, what's the legend behind this shrine?" Levy questioned us older trainers as she looked up at us with those wide eyes.
"This shrine is a dedication to a time traveling pokemon that protects this forest. Its nickname is 'the voice of the forest' since it looks after forest life and takes care of it all. Its real name is Celebi." I paused as I remembered the tail that Violet had once told me. "I never seen one, but Violet has this old book on legends from this regions that she's showed us a few times."
"That's so cool!" Levi turned back to look at me. "I want to meet one!"
"Well, maybe one day you will." Aaron got down to her level and told her. The younger girl only grinned at him.
"Lebi lebi!" I whipped my head around at a voice that seemed to echo. I could still feel it echoing on the trees before I felt Tristan take a hold of my hand and it shook me enough to force me to look back at him.
"Gwyn, did you-"
"Lebi lebi!" I heard the voice again and never heard the rest of Tristan's question as I whipped my head around and again and looked up into the tress. Something bright green was there and moving. Aaron was quick to grab Levy and hoist her up into his arms and pull back while Mr. Mewtwo stood before him and Tristan and I before him.
"Celebi!" Levy cried out in squeals of laughter. "She heard us Gwyn! She wants to play!"
I blinked and turned to the young girl who I was surprised to see the small mass of green right before her face behind Aaron's shoulder where he couldn't see her. The small pokemon was a bright green in color and had little stubby arms and feet. The lower half of it was a dark green while the top half was a pale light green. Extremely large eyes took up almost a fourth of its head. They were outlined by a thin black line before the white iris' were seen and then a bright blue color and black pupils. Two little antennas were on its head and were mostly light pale green color until it reached the ends and then it was vibrant green. Small wings that were almost transparent were on its back and it used them to fly around Levy and make her smile with funny faces.
"Celebi…" I gasped as I looked at the pokemon.
"It's real…" Tristan gasped and lowered his guard while seeing the small pokemon play with Levy.
"Lebi?" The pokemon lifted up its head and looked over at us, mostly at Tristan and myself before glancing back at Aaron. The pokemon flew before me and stopped, reaching down to grab my hand and gently pull me closer to where Levy and Aaron were. Tristan was so startled by this, he rushed over to take me into his arms and pull me out of the small pokemon's reach.
"BI!" The pokemon cried out and suddenly energy began raised up from the ground and into the trees before it rushed over to the pokemon. Its body glowed and it floated over to Levy before she entirely turned white entirely and the world around us swayed and swirled before it felt like we were sucked into a tornado of some kind. It made me dizzy as I gabbed onto the others to make sure we'd end up in the same place.
Suddenly, I felt I was thrown onto the ground and I heard other groans and mumbles around me. I quickly rose to my feet from where I fell, or I tried to as I wobbled to my feet and looked around.
We were no longer in the Viridian Forest; it was a small clearing from right around the area of the route right before you entered the Victory Road. It was night time, dreadfully quiet with an eerie feeling to the air. I looked around me and I was shocked and scared to see that Levy and Celibi were gone while Tristan and Aaron were the only ones left here with me.
"Tristan! Aaron! Get up!" Both of them groaned as they tried to get to their feet. I tried to help them but my own steadiness was in question as I stood on my own and my worries set in about the little girl we'd brought with me. "Levy's gone!"
"What?" Aaron was too his feet faster then anyone though possible. Tristan was as well, but he didn't seem as over the top worried as my best friend. "What happened to her?"
"I don't know! I just saw that she, Mr. Mewtwo and Celebi were gone!" My best friend whipped his head around to me and breathed heavily as he regained his balance, but then sighed and let his shoulders sag.
"I'm sorry Gwyn, after all that's happened… I'm still a jerk to you…" He shook his head and looked around. "After all that I've learned and what not, I still get too attached to people. I tend to do it with a lot of the kids that I teach and help out at the daycare, but… it seems to be a little more often with Levy…"
"Aaron?" I blinked at him in surprise. "You not telling me that-"
"Start Team Rocket again?" My eyes widened when I heard a younger and high pitched voice of my boyfriend. "You said you disbanded it!"
I turned to the others and the boys looked over in the direction of the yelling, seeing how it was a younger version of Tristan who was yelling at his parents, Rose and Giovanni Agustino.
"…This took place three years ago…" Tristan shook as he watched the event take place. "I remember yelling at them just after I'd run from Violet…"
"I'll never be like you!" I was startled when I heard the younger version of my boyfriend screaming. "I'll be like Violet and be strong so I never have to fear you again!"
It was then that the younger boy ran at full force toward us. I was so startled by his quick movements that I'd come to know my boyfriend for that I didn't even know when he hit me until he did. I was slammed into, but from having two older boys as walls to support me, I didn't fall over. The other boy did however; the younger version of Tristan fell backward and looked up at the three of us.
It only lasted for a second before the kid was livid and moved.
"MOVE!" I was shoved aside the boy flew past all of us before he disappeared into the woods.
"What just happened?" Aaron muttered as he helped me up. "Did Celebi bring us to the past for some reason?"
I suddenly felt the pull and the dizziness of the warping of time again and suddenly it felt like we were thrown again. I felt myself land on something hard this time and I groaned at it.
"Gwyn…?" I felt someone nudge me. "Please get up… there's a scary man here."
I suddenly threw myself up when I heard the sound of Levy's voice and jumped up to find her sitting worriedly next to me. Mr. Mewtwo and Celebi were before her as a man with a melodic grin stood on the other side of the field. He was dressed darkly with what seemed to be a black collared jacket over a suit. A hat sat on his head to cover most of his face, but I could see the dark eyes below it. They matched Tristan's in color.
It was Giovanni Agustino.
"Gwyn Jalen… I was wondering if I'd ever get the chance to see you." The man sat himself in a chair that was next to a radio on a rock. A light chatter seemed to be on the other side and he seemed to fiddle with it. "I always wanted to take my revenge against your mentor, but I guess her protégé will do just as nicely."
"What?" I suddenly heard some of the voices that were calling out on the radio; it was Team Rocket, back when Rose was trying to call back her husband from his solitude when I'd face her and her team back in Goldenrod City.
"Wait, what's going on here?" Aaron looked around in a fury. "This is back when we were facing Team Rocket in Goldenrod and Gwyn took them out."
"But then this puts her in two places at once, is this due to the time travel that I have to see my father?" Tristan growled and hid a bit behind me so his father didn't see him.
"My minions and wife are calling for me. Its time for me to return to the light and start Team Rocket anew." Giovanni rose from his chair and began to walk toward us. "I plan to finish this quickly, so don't take it personally if I kill you."
"But Violet's supposed to stop him, isn't she?" Aaron stepped before me and I could feel Tristan's fingers pulling me back. "Where is she?"
Giovanni then let out four pokemon at once, a nidoking, a nidoqueen, a honchkrow and a kangaskhan. The four of them stocked over towered me and the boys. "To all of you," his voice and face darkened. "…Goodnight."
All of the pokemon then dived for us at once.
"We don't have time to wait for Violet!" I whipped out a pokeball and threw it out. "Cynder! Blast burn!"
White fire took over the entire cave and forced it to glow like mad as the attack hit all four pokemon at once and took them all down in a single hit. Giovanni was so shocked that his hat fell of his head from the force and his jaw was wide as he watched all four of his powerful pokemon he trainer for three years be taken down just like that.
Just like Violet had three years ago.
"Th-this can't be!" Giovanni stuttered as he looked at the scene before him. "All my training… all my dreams… they're all over?"
"They always have Giovanni," his eyes went so wide when he saw that of his own son appear before him. "You and Rose should have known that three years ago, and now this proves it."
Giovanni then paused for a moment before he looked up with a defeated look in his eyes. He held out his hands before him and sagged to his knees.
"I surrender… Team Rocket, if all my efforts are in vain, then so are my wife's." He shook his head. "If I have failed, then she will just the same." He then gave me a grin. "Though I doubt that she will give up any time soon, so good luck trying to catch her, Gwyn Jalen."
"Alright Giovanni, its time you and I ended this once and for all-" Violet, the one that had been there and coming to this location to face Giovanni almost a half a year ago, suddenly stepped inside the cave and gave us a bewildered look. "What are you doing here?"
I waved lightly at her. "Hi Violet."
The older woman took a good look around the cave before her eyes focused in on Giovanni in the background who was on the ground, waiting to be taken, all of his pokemon out cold.
"What… the hell…?"
"I can't really explain it too much since I don't want to get in the way of past and future, but… Celebi brought us back in time and I had to face Giovanni or else he would have left for Goldenrod while we were taking care of things there in this time." I smiled at her. "But don't worry Violet, we took care of it."
"But Giovanni's-"
"I know how powerful he is, but I'm from more then half a year into the future Violet, I'm stronger then I was in this time." I quickly pulled out my badge case and opened it to look at my badges before I looked back up at her. "But could you do me a small favor?" I turned the case to her and showed her all the badges as well as my ring from when I was crowned champion. All of my pokemon released themselves from their pokeballs to see Violet and smiled at her. "Take and lock this guy up and keep teaching the me from this time frame what you have been, it worked just fine, and I turned out great."
"… can I ask just one question?"
"Shoot."
"Did we ever get to battle each other?"
"Of course, after everything was all said, done and completed, you had me climb our mountain and I battled you. And man, was it a hot one."
She smiled and gave me a wicked grin. "Alright Hon, I'll let you off this time, but know that when you finally get to talk to me about this in the time where it lines up, you better let me in on every detail."
"You got it."
It was then that I felt that dizziness come over me again and I could faintly hear Celebi crying out. I fell into blackness this time around; the force was just too much.
HalloweenWitchHalloweenWitch
When I woke next, I could feel someone shaking me. I could faintly hear something as someone was trying to bring me to. I murmured something, I don't know what, maybe just noises of discomfort from all the spinning and time traveling Celebi had put me through.
"Gwyn?" The voice came clearer the next time. "Gwyn? Please wake up!"
I slowly forced my eyes to open themselves and to look up at whoever was speaking to me. My vision was hazy as I opened my eyes and I suddenly saw the bright hair of Levy over my head.
"… Ugg… what hit me?"
The girl helped me sit up from where I was. "Bebi brought us back to our original time; we're back in the Ilex Forest!"
"What?" I slowly turned around my head and looked for the open field or the cave that I had just been in moments ago, but to my surprise, none of that was here. Trees capped overhead and I could barely see the sunlight speckling through them as the light glowed a light orange color. Sunset was fast approaching, if it wasn't already here.
"Violet's also been trying to call us for a few hours now. We all have missed messages on our pokegears." Levy handed my pokegear back to me. "Aaron and Tristan woke up a while ago, but I told them to go home and rest and that I'd make sure we'd get back to the mountain. And we better go before Violet calls the police."
"Okay…" I shook my head and slowly pushed myself to my hands and knees to get to my feet. "Oww…"
"Bebi said your head might hurt for a little while."
"What the heck is a 'bebi'?"
"It's Celebi!" I rubbed my head tiredly while Levy released a pokeball and showed me the small green creature that forced us all to travel through time thrice. "She joined my team and I nicknamed her Bebi!"
"Alright…" I sighed as I tried to push away the aching pain in the back of my head. I quickly pulled out my pokedex and pointed it at the small pokemon Celebi, the time travel pokemon. This pokemon wanders across time. Grass and trees flourish in the forests in which it has appeared. When celebi disappears deep into a forest, it is said to leave behind an egg it brought back form the future. There are no known celebi nests in this region.
"Alright Levy, let's head back. I'm going to take a nap while you call Violet and let her know we're on our way home and I'll talk to her then about what happened today."
"Okay Gwyn."
HalloweenWitchHalloweenWitch
A couple hours later and a much needed nap thrown into the mix as well, Levy and I were back on the mountain top at our home in the Mt. Silver Mansion. I felt much better after a good long nap that took place for the entire ride back until we hit the icy winds of the north.
Violet was waiting for us when we arrived back. Her arms were crossed and a worried expression was on her face while Levy and I landed. She didn't ask us any questions, but the look on her face said that she wanted answers soon. Levy took that moment to run off while the two of us were in a staring contest and headed off to her room to play with her new pokemon while I was left to deal with an angry Violet Vilmos.
That sounded real fun…
I headed into the kitchen first to grab myself a drink to take some pain medication for the side effects of that time traveling. Once I had a glass of water and the medication in hand; I took a seat at the island in the middle of our large kitchen and swallowed them. Once I had all the pills I had grabbed settling in my stomach or were on their way there, I finally turned to look at the older champion.
"Hey."
"Hello."
She didn't exactly sound too happy when she replied.
"Sorry about not calling, I couldn't exactly do it at the time."
"Without a little more information then that Gwyn, I'm still not exactly going to forgive you."
Ouch… she really was mad… or afraid for us…
"I never meant to scare you or make you upset Violet. Something happened today that even I didn't expect to happen, but you did."
The woman was blow away by that sentence and actually blinked at me in surprise before lowered her arms and gave me a questioning look.
"What?"
I shook my head. "Violet, today was the day that Celebi met up with me and the others and we traveled back in time, thrice." I snorted a laugh. "I promised that once it happened I'd tell you about it, right?"
"Oh well that changes everything!" In a single instant the woman had a cheery grin on her face and was plopped down next to me. "So that's why you couldn't or wouldn't call, you were in different time periods and were unable to get the signal or call itself!"
"That just about sums it up." I shrugged. "While we were off in the Ilex forest, while I was telling Levy about the legend you told me about Celebi, she showed up and took us back in time. The first time we were separated from Levy and it freaked Aaron out and we actually got to see Tristan running away from his parents three years ago after you saved him. He crashed into us and then ran off toward Johto."
"Ouch… that must have been hard on him. I'll call him later tonight and see how he's doing then." Violet sighed. "And you should call him too, I'm sure he was worried up the kazoo while you were out cold."
"Don't worry, I promise."
"So what happened after that?"
"After the younger Tristan from three years ago ran off, Celebi took us to where Levy was with Giovanni in the cave he was hiding in. He was listening to the broadcast that his minions were giving off and calling for him. We couldn't wait long or at all for you since he was going to sick all of his pokemon on us, so I sent out Cynder and she destroyed them all with blast burn. He surrendered and commented on 'how his wife won't be caught so easily and wishing us luck with giving chase to her' and what not."
"That sounds like him." Violet scoffed with a snort of a laugh as she leaned her head against her hand. "Next?"
"Well, that's about where you came in and I think you know the rest from there." I shrugged and gestured a hand toward her. "And what about you? Did anything go though or speed up the process of getting your organization started?"
"Oh yes it did Gwyn, more then you can even think of!" Violet grinned as she rushed to pull out a pile of papers before me. She opened the folder to the first page and there, on the front of it in the bottom corner, was a seal of approval by the committee. My mouth dropped as she jumped up into the air and squealed and then suddenly grabbed me into a hug and twirled me around. "We did it Gwyn! We're part of the IPHP League now! It lives!"
"Oh that's great Violet! Now that it's all set, does that mean we can set out?"
"Just about, we need to do a couple small things before we head out, but we should be out of here in about a week with the others. Vince and Alex have my dad taking over the gym until we get back and we'll be going off our own savings and traveling until we take Rose down. We'll be paid by governments for taking care of criminals and bringing them to justice and we can recruit as many members as we want, so long as we can pay them all." She pulled out another paper. "The one last thing we need to do is get an emblem for our organization."
"Do you have one in mind already?"
"Yes, in fact, I got it drawn by Tristan!" She pulled out another paper and showed me a picture of a golden shield with the abbreviated name of our organization in silver while a human hand was reaching toward a shiny charizard one. It was simple, yet held a lot of meaning, showing the two creatures on the emblem to be reaching for peace. "So what do you think?"
"I like it; I think it shows a lot of meaning. And if people want to change the colors on their emblem, I think that's reasonable just as long as the image stays the same for copyright reasons and what not."
"Then it's settled!" She jumped up from her chair with the image in hand. "I'll send a copy of this image over to the committee and I can talk to you about one last thing before we head out to the Hoenn region."
"And what's that Violet?"
She gave me a wide grin. "I'm getting another tattoo, and if you feel brave enough, you are too."
