I've honestly lost most interest in this fanficton now. BUT, we've come this far, so I won't disappoint you guys and let all this go to waste! I will try my hardest to get better about posting, but no guarantees.
This chapter is going to be pretty short, unfortunately, but the next chapter should be fairly long.

Now, I know what you're thinking (if you are still reading this). 'Can we get on with the chapter now?' The answer is 'YES!'
. . . . . . . . . . . . .
Recap:
"I sense a strong demonic energy." Sebastian answered bluntly, a look of disgust crossing his face. "Much like the one I've been sensing around the manor." Ciel and I instinctively moved closer to one another, our shoulders nearly touching.
"Come along, Grell and Ronald." William said, beginning to walk off. "We have business to attend to." said people picked up their weapons and quickly said goodbye to us, following after William. As soon as they were gone, I wrapped my arm around Ciel's and pulled him closer to me.
"Is it still there?" Ciel asked quietly to his butler.
"Faintly." Sebastian answered. Ciel had a troubled look on his face.
"Take us back to the manor, Sebastian." Ciel said.
"Yes, my Lord."
Sebastian took us back to the manor, and we arrived without trouble. I had a feeling that something was going to happen soon. Something life-changing. . .
And bad.
. . . . . . . . . . . . .
When we arrived back at the manor, Sebastian reported still sensing the energy somewhere nearby. "The odd thing is: I can't place where it is coming from." Sebastian confessed, slowly turning around in a circle, still trying to pinpoint it. Ciel furrowed his brow.
"That is rather odd," he said, eyes darting back and forth, like a cornered animal searching for an escape. A shiver crawled up my spine. If Sebastian and Ciel of all people were worried, something was definitely wrong.
Once we were finally inside, Ciel went up to his study, Sebastian right behind him. That left me to do whatever I wished. So, I went to help Mey-Rin with the housework. We were walking down the hall, Mey-Rin carrying a bucket of water- since she insisted- and myself carrying a mop and an old rag. We were just passing the door to the study when we heard a loud bang and a yell.
"WHAT?!" Ciel shouted at the top of his lungs.
"Eeek!" Mey-Rin screamed as she struggled to keep the water from spilling over the edge, but to no avail.
"Ahh!" I squealed as I jumped up, the mop and rag flying from my hands; the former consequently hit me on the head.
Ciel kept yelling, whether he heard us or not. "Does that bastard really expect me to believe him?!" Mey-Rin and I shared a look; what was he talking about. Ciel could still be heard ranting, but much quieter this time.
We scrambled up off the ground and cautiously cracked open the door and peeked in. Ciel was quickly pacing the space in front of his desk, hands folded behind his back and softly mumbling to himself. Sebastian was straightening his chair.
"Um, is everything alright in here?" I asked as loud as I dared. I gingerly rubbed the now tender spot on my head. Ciel's head snapped up to look at me. I could feel Mey-Rin shrink back beside me.
"Juliet," he said, motioning with his head. "please, do come in." Mey-Rin immediately took off down the hall in a quick stride, never daring to look back. I ran my tongue over my suddenly dry lips, my throat feeling like cotton. I stepped inside and leaned against the door. It shut with a click behind me. I stepped further into the room, now only a few feet away from Ciel.
"What is the matter, Ciel?" I asked. I noticed that Sebastian was holding a letter between his gloved fingers, his expression completely blank. Ciel simply stared at me for a few long seconds, and when I arched an eyebrow, he motioned over his shoulder for Sebastian, keeping his eyes locked on mine.
"Read this." was all he said as Sebastian handed me the letter. I eyed the familiar-looking broken seal on the envelope, then carefully opened it and pulled out its contents. In it was a neatly-folded piece of paper. I pulled it open and read:
Dearest Ciel Phantomhive,
How are you? I hope you are very well—because you are invited to my ball three nights from now! Be sure to wear your best attire. I'm sure you will! Oh, and be sure to invite your lovely lady friend, "Katheryn", with you.
Sincerely,
Alois Trancy
"What?!" the word rose in my throat before I could stop it. I read the letter over again. Looking up at Ciel, I saw the rage silently boiling in his eyes. I glanced behind him at Sebastian, whom had a gleam of thought in his rusty red eyes. His face was still completely stoic.
"Do you want to go?" Ciel asked me. I gave him a look of surprise.
"You're actually considering going?" I replied, my eyes wide. He gave a one-shouldered shrug.
"I don't know. As much as I despise him, I think we should. Did you notice how he put 'Katheryn' in quotations?" he asked, pointing at my name on the letter. "Perhaps he knows something we don't."
"What could that be?" I asked, staring at the blonde boy's signature. 'Alois. . . What are you thinking?'
. . . . . . . . . . . . .
That's all for this chapter. Once again, I'm sorry it's so short. Please don't kill me!
Hope you enjoyed this chapter!
