"Lost it?" He repeated, eyes widening a little. "What'd you say?" He held her face in his hand, forcing their eyes to meet. "Where could you possibly have lost it?" he asked, narrowing his eyes. "Empty your pockets." He stepped back, releasing his grip on her jaw. He straightened his posture; the ringtone on his phone set for Aqua rang throughout the room. "Where the hell were you?" He demanded, voice growing louder and more agitated. He narrowed his eyes while stepping backward to snatch his phone off of the table, keeping eye contact with her. It continued to ring, loud as ever. Terra grabbed her by the wrist, forcing her smaller hands open to take hold of phone. "Answer it."
Aqua was visibly shaking at this point. However, her voice was eerily calm. Despite years of living with Terra and his abuse, she only grew stronger and more stable from it. Taking a deep breath, she picked up the phone, "Hello?"
Larxene's eyes widened, hearing her voice over the phone. "Is….Is this Aqua..?" She asked, trying not to sound too awkward. She wanted to ask who Terra was, or how the call with her Doctor went, though she wasn't sure if she made the call, since Larxene was holding her phone. "I…uh, Well, I have something of yours, I'm sure you need it back, right?" She shifted her weight from foot to foot, unsure of what else to say. "Ah, I uh, I hope my friend didn't scare you too badly, he…" She paused. "He means well, really."
Terra listened as close as he could; the only thing he was able to make out was that, it was indeed a female on the other end. He stared at her incredulously, waiting to hear the colorful response sure to come out of her mouth next. He was convinced that she lied to him. She really did go somewhere without asking, or even telling him. He only grew more impatient.
Aqua took a shaky breath inward. She didn't want to worry Larxene. But then again, she didn't want to give much away during the phone call either. "No... No it's fine... Th-thank you for finding it for me. I will come to pick it up as soon as I..." She looks at Terra, afraid if she would even be allowed to get her phone back by herself, "As soon as I can..." She closed her eyes, trying to focus on the phone call, though Terra's eyes made her increasingly nervous.
Larxene listened intently; her eyes narrowed a little, hearing the other girl's voice waver. "Are….It's not really my place, but… Are you okay?" She asked, knowing she probably crossed a line with the question. Something didn't feel right. "L-Listen, uh…"
Terra closed his hand around Aqua's, prying the phone from her shaky grip. He stepped away from her and held a hand up, as if he were challenging her to take it. He held it to his ear in silence for a few seconds, to piece together what was being said. A girl's voice spoke from the other end. "Can you come back tonight? You could even just wait for me in my room. I don't think anyone'd bother you, I can give it back then?" Terra's eyes widened. He snapped the phone closed, letting it clatter to the floor, all but lunging at her now. "Where the hell were you last night?" He repeated, taking her jaw in his hand, forcing their eyes to meet again. He continued to walk forward, sending her backward to collide into the front door. It rattled in its hinges. The man brought his face closer to hers, applying an unnecessary amount of pressure to her jaw. "Where were you, Aqua? And don't you *dare* talk to me like I don't know what you're doing." Terra's voice rose, knowing full well the neighbors could hear him at this point. He slammed her back into the door, hearing her shoulders and head connect with the solid wood.
Larxene's stomach dropped, hearing strange noises on the other end before the line went dead. Whatever just happened couldn't have been good.
