Nico POV
"Nico di Angelo and Leo Valdez."
ELA is so boring, which explains why I fell asleep. It was Wednesday, and he had spent last night competing against Glados in Halo. She won like she always did, but Nico was determined to beat her. Some day…
"MR. DI ANGELO!"
"I'm sorry, Dr. Thorn, what?"
"I said, you and Leo will be partners for this project."
Oh. This is probably what she meant as in 'something's going to happen in 6th'.
WAIT, LEO?! No, no, no, no, no… anyone but him.
"Alright class, you may go discuss your projects."
Ok, here comes Leo, try and be cool about this. Try not to focus on his gorgeous hair or his awesome tan, or those eyes- Damnit Nico!
"Hey Nico. Looks like we're going to be partners." Leo said nervously. Wait… why is Leo nervous? He's a fucking god, he would never be nervous, especially around me. I wonder why he's nervous? Was it me? No it couldn't be; there would be no reason to be nervous around me; would there? While he was drowning in his own thoughts, Nico failed to notice Leo waving his hand in his face.
"Woah, you ok dude?" Leo asked.
"Huh? Oh, yeah I'm good. Uh what is the project about again?" I questioned.
"We have to do a project where we write a diary of the main character of a book we both agree on, recounting at least 30 days." Leo stated.
"ANY fictional character?"
"Yep! Anything from Batman to Harry Potter. Luke Skywalker to Master Cheif."
"He's from Halo right? I remember Princess saying something like that."
His eyes widened for a second, and he looked furious. Leo was quickly able to cover it up though, returning to his neutral state. But there was still a fire in his eyes.
"Who's Princess?" He still seemed on edge, with just a hint of venom in his voice. Just then my phone went off and sure enough, Glados' best 3 hand-drawn pictures: one of her and I slaying dragons in Skyrim, us awkwardly hugging, and a portrait of me popped up on the screen, which meant she was calling. I learned to never, EVER, miss one of her calls. That was just part of our trust things, missing a call or not replying to text made the other think that something's wrong and that they need help. So, I answered it.
"'Sup, Princess."
"Hey Angel. Can I guess what happened in fourth?" Then Leo butt into the conversation.
"How do you know something happened in fourth period? Were you here before us?" Leo asked.
"No." She answered
"Then how did you know?"
"Meh. Just a feeling. So anyways, you got assigned a month project, around 30-days, in partners. Since Leo kinda just started talking, ima guess he's your partner. Also accounting the fact that he sounds like he's right next to you." By now, Leo was pale. And sputtering.
"Am I right or what?"'
"Glados, you're always right. So… you called because…?
"Well, I'm skipping the rest of the day and heading to the mall and then to our place. I'm also going grocery shopping. You want anything?"
"The extra works. I'm challenging you to a weekend binge."
"Oh, it's ON."
"Be prepared to get your ass kicked."
"Same goes for you, Angel. I'm not gonna go easy on you. I'm the 3-time champion. Try not to lose too badly." And with that she hung up.
Once Leo recovered from shock, he asked me a question that caught me off guard.
"So, wanna work with me during study hall to fine-tune this project?" Leo seemed even more nervous than he was before. But it was my answer surprised me the most.
"Sure."
