A/n so I just wanted to recognize MAZ for their review and hopefully I don't disappoint, also Sakaara is exactly how I wanted to spell her name, it is actually Hindi for acceptance and I thought it was a rather fitting name for the female wolf there will be plenty of her in this story as she is my own creation. As they head outside Kagome cannot help but to smile at the demon holding her and then at her sister content for the time being to be around those who cared about her in this weird time period that she just found was her true home.
Once they reach the opening of the cave she winces at the bright light, closing her eyes and sighing at the gentle breeze playing in her hair and along her skin. It almost seemed to flirt with the warmth that the sun's rays were giving off.
She opened her eyes slowly and grinned seeing small wolf cubs and demon cubs playing along the river that seemed to split the main caves from the more trafficked areas of the colony. Looking around she notices that only a few women were around watching over all of the hyperactive cubs and that there was not a single male in sight.
She tilts her head in confusion, since she doesn't know much about demon culture. Though she does know quite a bit about wolves in general, so she assumed that the men were off hunting or relaxing while the women who were not in charge of all of the cubs were busy gather furs that needed to be cleaned or preparing the midday meal for those who would return shortly then head for the fields to take care of the early spring planting.
She glances once more around the area and takes in the scents that is carried by the breeze. She tenses when the metallic scent of blood reaches her nose, knowing that they are in a safe glade the scent unsettles her. Her gaze becomes sharp when she notices a group of older children growling at something and kicking it around with gleeful, but malicious, laughs. She immediately demands that Kouga put her down and he does, not wanting to get on her bad side.
She marches over to the group of boys and gasps in horror when she sees that what seemed like a ball was actually a small wolf cub, maybe a few weeks old. She snarls in anger and glares harshly at the boys who had not noticed her until her aura suddenly stifles everyone in the area.
One of the demon cubs smirk at her and says "It is way too weak to survive and has been abandoned we are merely putting it down." She glares even harder her aura turning black with anger and barks out "What right do you think you have to torture any creature of this clan even if it is young and weak. Most of the time the weakest ones end up being the strongest." None of the pups look chastised they merely glower and her and snap back "The weak have no place in our pack and who are you to question my methods, you are a lowly female not even fit enough to lick my toes let alone talk to me like you are better than me. Know your place bitch for you are talking to the future ruler of this clan."
Kagome smirks slightly and her fingertips glow a hostile pink. But before she can do anything to the insolent pup who dares to speak to her that way one of the attending females bows to her and says "Please forgive my insolent son My Lady. I hope you will not take great offense for he did not know any better."
Kagome holds her head high and states lowly "That is no excuse whatsoever for the way your son behaves. If you do not punish him for his insolence and for abusing a member of the pack I will do it for you and I will not be lenient, those who treat others with no respect deserve none. If he thinks that he is the future of this clan then I pray to god that he never does earn that title. He has a lot to learn and I will not be spoken to like that again."
The young mother bows lowly to Kagome and then looks on the ground noticing the beaten pup she gasps in horror and a murderous look overcomes her features. "Kaido what have you done to this young wolf pup? You are not to touch them I have told you this and now you do this you are lucky the kind princess has not ostracized you for your actions."
Kagome looks on determined to see this pup put in his place before he becomes a bigger problem that talking back and hurting smaller creatures. She bends down and gently picks up the injured pup with a sad look on her face and listens for life, hearing a wet rattling coming from the pup's chest, Kagome gently brings forth her youkai and surrounds the cub with a healing light before she gently places it against her chest.
As the cub begins to heal it nuzzles closer to her warmth and she can feel that the pup is merely skin and bones, had she not noticed in time the cub would have died. She growls darkly and turns from the mother and cubs knowing that the boys were well in hand especially after she had heard the mother stating that their fathers would be very displeased when they found out what the boys had done.
Kagome returned to Ayame and Kouga's side with the cub still cradled in her arms. Kouga leans down and sniffs at the cub lightly before nodding to Ayame. Ayame does the same thing and sighs before turning towards the entrance of the den again. "Kagome you must take this cub to father at once he will want to inspect it thoroughly before allowing it to stay within your rooms, it doesn't smell quite right."
Kagome shakes her head and walks back inside at Kouga's insistence, knowing that she was out for a lot longer than was permitted and honestly feeling drained from the encounter.
a/n so I know I ended this chapter at a rather inconvenient time but I do want it to be interesting. I truly hope you enjoyed and as always please send me reviews I really love getting them. Also I wanted you all to know that I am writing this completely without a beta so please try to be gentle with my grammar and spelling mistakes after all micro word doesn't always catch the mistakes and neither do I.
