I know it's been forever, but I've been busy with another story. This one is almost done though so for the people who read this only a couple more chapters to go before it's over. I'll try and make them as amazing as i can though, promise.
Ashton and Emma were sitting on a couch in the hairdressers waiting for Sam and Tyler to come in. They were having a haircut before Christmas so their hair was ready for the festive season and Emma was trying to figure out what Ashton was getting done to her hair.
"I'm not saying. You just have to wait for it to be done. The hairdresser and I already have an agreement that I'll be going into the back room so that you can't see until it's done." Ashton said and Emma sighed.
"You're annoying you know that?" Emma said and Ashton smiled.
"Okay. We're here. I don't see why I had to be here, but there you go. I got a haircut 2 weeks ago mum." Tyler said.
"I know, but we picked you up from Clarissa's on the way here so you didn't really have a choice did you." Sam said and Tyler rolled his eyes and sat down as one of the hair dressers came up and smiled at Ashton.
"Let's go do your hair. Someone else will be over to do your hair Emma in a moment. Come on." The woman said to Ashton and Ashton stood up and the two walked into the back room.
"She and the hairdresser go to the same dance studio. Ashton's friends with her younger brother." Emma told Sam and Tyler and they nodded.
It was almost an hour later when Ashton and the hairdresser walked out and Sam, Tyler and Emma all dropped their jaws in shock. Instead of the long blonde hair Ashton had always loved and been proud of, her hair was cut short (If you want a better explanation, look up Glee Quinn Fabray haircut and it will come up.) to halfway down her neck, her hair messy but neat with her fringe across her face.
"So what do you think?" Ashton asked and Emma walked over to her.
"I thought you loved your hair." She said and Ashton nodded.
"I do, but I needed a change and dad said I could. I asked him if I could cut it short the other day and he agreed." Ashton said.
"Hang on. Dad knew you were cutting your hair short and he didn't say anything?" Tyler asked.
"Yeah. He's good at keeping secrets if you get him at the right time of day." Ashton said.
"Well, it looks lovely Ash. Now, why don't we go home, scare Jason and then call Gibby and Carly over for dinner so we can scare them too." Sam said and Ashton grinned.
"Let's go. I can't wait for this." Ashton said and the others smiled. Sam then paid for the haircuts and the four were about to leave when a man in his early twenties walked in and went to the desk.
"Dylan?" Ashton said and Dylan turned around then smiled.
"Hey Ashton. Nice hair." He replied and Ashton smiled.
"Thanks. I wanted something new and I figured that this was the biggest change I could have so I went for it." Ashton said.
"Well it looks good. Wait until the others see it." Dylan said and Ashton smirked.
"Who's your friend?" Sam asked and Ashton turned to her.
"Oh, mum this is Dylan. He works at the dance studio as an assistant teacher." Ashton replied.
"I'm studying to be a dance teacher. I go to community college and while I don't work for money at the moment, I'm hoping the spot becomes more official." Dylan said.
"Well it's nice to meet you. My name's Sam by the way." Sam said as she shook his hand.
"It's nice to meet you too. Well, I have to go but Ash, I'll catch you tomorrow for the arcade." Dylan said and Ashton nodded.
"Bye Dylan." Ashton said before her, Emma, Tyler and Sam walked out of the store.
"So that's who you're going to the arcade with." Emma said.
"He's a friend and since we're working with each other in dance class we're getting to know each other a little better." Ashton said and Tyler snorted.
"Sure. That's the only reason." He said and Ashton punched him in the arm.
"Alright kids. That's enough. Let's go and get some lunch and then go home before Jason gets square eyes from the video games." Sam said and the kids nodded before Ashton stopped.
"Has anyone got my phone?" She asked.
"No. You had it on you when you went into the back to get your haircut." Emma said.
"I must have left it there. Okay, I'll go get it and then I'll meet you at the food court." Ashton said and Sam nodded before she and the two teens walked off and Ashton turned around and went back into the hairdressers.
"You're back?" Dylan asked as she came out of the back room, him sitting on a chair while the woman who cut Ashton's hair cut his hair.
"I forgot my phone. What are you doing with your hair?" She asked.
"Just getting it trimmed." Dylan replied.
"So I guess you took my advice and got a haircut." Ashton grinned and Dylan rolled his eyes.
"I'm doing it because Christmas is around the corner and I'm trying to get in the Christmas spirit." Dylan said.
"Because a haircut is going to get you in the mood." Ashton said sarcastically and Dylan gave her a look while Lisa, the hairdresser, cut his hair.
"Okay. When you're done here, we're going to get lunch with my family and then I'm going to take you shopping for at least one present for someone. It can be for anyone you want to be." Ashton said and Dylan sighed.
"I don't have a choice do I?" Dylan asked and Ashton smiled.
"I'll take that as a yes." Ashton said and Lisa smiled at them.
15 minutes later, Sam, Tyler and Emma were sitting at a table in the food court eating lunch and they were all curious as to where Ashton got to.
"She's probably with Dylan or something." Emma said.
"Well, you definitely got that right." Tyler said and Sam and Emma turned their heads to see Ashton and Dylan walking towards them, their arms linked together and a strange look on Dylan's face.
"Hey guys. Is it cool if Dylan joins us for lunch?" Ashton asked when they reached the table and Sam smiled.
"Of course. We were about to go get some food. What would you guys like? These guys want fries and chicken wings." Sam said.
"I'm actually a vegetarian." Dylan said.
"Like Ashton." Emma said and Ashton kicked her under the table.
"Yeah. Pretty much. I'll help you get the food Sam. Is it alright if I call you that?" Dylan asked and Sam smiled.
"Of course. Everyone does." Sam said before the two got up and walked over to one of the food counters to order their food.
"Okay. What the heck? Are you two dating or something?" Tyler asked Ashton quietly when they were out of earshot and Ashton sighed.
"No we're not. He's just not doing anything else today." Ashton said, looking down at her bracelets.
"What are you hiding?" Emma asked.
"Nothing. I'm just letting him eat lunch with us." Ashton said and Emma gave her a look.
"You don't let just anyone eat lunch with us. That's only for guys you really, really like or your good friends." Emma said.
"And he's a good friend, one of my best friends actually. He doesn't know that many around the city so I'm making sure he isn't constantly lonely." Ashton said.
"Sounds like you have a crush." Tyler said.
"Well at least I'm not dating my sisters best friend." Ashton replied and Tyler looked at Emma.
"I'm going to kill her when we get home." Tyler said and Ashton stuck her tongue out at him.
"Can you guys just try and include him in our conversations? He doesn't talk all that much until you get to know him, but he does talk if you bring him into it." Ashton said and Tyler and Emma nodded.
"You really care about him don't you?" Tyler asked just as Dylan and Sam walked back to the table.
"Okay. Here is our lunch. Now hurry up and eat so I can get home and check on your dad. He's still a bit drowsy on the antibiotics he's on for his hand according to Jason." Sam said and the kids nodded as they took their food, Dylan and Ashton engaging in a very quiet conversation as they ate, Sam, Emma and Tyler all talking about something by themselves and not paying too much attention to them.
25 minutes later, Sam, Emma and Tyler got home and Jason was sitting on the armchair playing a video game and Freddie was fast asleep on the couch in sweat pants, a grey shirt and a jacket, a rug over him up to his waist and the TV down really quietly.
"How has he been asleep for?" Sam asked Jason as she gently took Freddie's bandaged hand in her own and softly kissing before placing it back on the couch and lifting his head up before sitting down on the couch and placing his head in her lap.
"About 15 minutes. He said something about chocolate before he passed out again." He replied and Sam nodded, a small smile appearing on her face when Freddie rolled onto his back and rested his head against her stomach as she ran her fingers through his hair.
"Is Ashton out with some friends or something?" Jason said.
"Yeah. She ran into this guy Dylan who's doing something with Ashton's dance class and they're hanging out at the mall." Sam said and Jason paused the game, turning to his mother with a weird look on his face.
"What do you know?" Sam asked.
"Not much, but I heard a someone say that he apparently ran away from abusive parents and Ashton first met him when she saved him from a ditch where he was beaten and all bloody." Jason said and Sam's eyes went slightly wider.
"Where did you hear that from?" Sam asked.
"Kayla heard it from one of her friends whose sister helped Ashton get him out of the ditch. She took him to hospital, but apparently he made them give the hospital a fake name and Ashton stayed with him the night. The girl who helped her covered for her, Marie." Jason said.
"Wait. That was almost 6 months ago." Sam said and Jason nodded.
"I'm not saying he's a bad person, but maybe you should just keep an eye on him. Something just really doesn't sit right with him." Jason said and Sam sighed.
"Just don't say anything to Ashton about this. Let's wait until at least after Christmas to do snooping. Your dad is the best with that stuff and he's not really looking so up to it." Sam said and Jason nodded, both feeling slightly worried about Ashton's new best friend.
