The day went on without any more Bot vs Con incidences. The bell rang and everyone left for home.
While Raf had Bumblebee drive him home, Miko decided to walk with Jack since Bulkhead wasn't driving that day.
"So how was that for a lunch?" Jack asked.
"Meh." Miko replied. "At the academy, that's a normal occurrence right?"
Jack shrugged. "Yeah I guess you're right."
Miko sighed. "I just kinda wish that the Bots would let us join in once in a while."
Jack turned to Miko.
"Relax Miko. The Autobots are just keeping us safe and outta trouble." Jack replied.
Miko turned to face him angrily.
"And what? How is that supposed to help us into their faction? All I wanna do is join in on the action! Be helpful! I don't just wanna stand on the sidelines and just watch it all happen okay?" Miko ranted. She turned back around and crossed her arms. "I hate feeling helpless."
Jack took a step back. He had stood through several of Miko's outbursts at this point. This one was different however. From what Jack could tell, this bit was personal.
"Hey, are you okay?" He asked carefully.
Miko huffed. "I'm fine."
"D'you wanna talk?" Jack continued.
"I'm fine!" Miko snapped.
"Okay fine. But Miko listen, you're not the only one with problems so-"
"Tch."
"-if you ever need to talk, I'll listen. Like I always do."
Miko sighed.
"Alright. Thanks I guess...really." Miko said.
The two freshmen walked to Miko's house in relative silence the rest of the way. They waved goodbye and Jack continued on.
"I hate feeling helpless." Now what could that be all about? However, Jack could understand. He had gone through his fair share of feeling helpless throughout his lifetime.
The next day Jack, Miko and Raf met up at their lockers like they did every morning.
"Hey." Jack greeted.
"Hey." Miko replied.
"Hey there Jack." Raf said.
Beyond that, Miko and Jack almost didn't speak to each other at all. Raf noticed this.
"Um...are you two okay?" Raf asked.
The two older students turned to look at him.
"What? Of course it is Raf." Jack replied.
"Yeah, what'd make you say that?" Miko added.
Raf was about to answer, but decided against it and shook his head.
Jack went to his homeroom and met up with Elita. He sat down next to her and rested his head against his arm in thought.
"Hey Jack...what's on your mind?" Elita greeted.
"On my mind? Why would you think that?" Jack replied.
"Oh I can tell something's bothering you. After years of dating Oppie I've learned a thing or two about guy moods. So, is it something you wanna talk about?" Elita explained.
Jack shook his head. "No, it's fine. It's not even about me."
Elita just nodded and turned towards the front of the class as Mr. Ception walked in.
It wasn't until lunch when Jack and Miko started speaking to each other again. They had had to sit through science and poor Raf was forced to sit awkwardly between the two.
The three freshmen walked back to their lockers together and got their lunches and books for their next classes and they walked together to the caf in silence once again.
They sat with their usual group of Autobots. However, on that day, none of the senior Autobot leaders were present at the lunch. Ultra Magnus was busy at a student council meeting, Elita had gone with Chromia to do an art mural, and Optimus was having a talk with the council regarding his place in the Prime Program.
On the other side of the lunch hill, most of the senior Decepticons were there except for their leader. Megatron had detention because he went to go pick a fight with Sentinel.
Starscream looked over at the Autobots and snickered at their plan.
"If Megatron won't do anything to you, then we'll just have to improvise." Starscream muttered as he turned and nodded at the Jeddin twins.
Dreadwing and Skyquake got up from their seats and made their ways over to the Autobots.
"What do you two want?" Smokescreen questioned.
"Nothing, just thought we could talk." Dreadwing began.
"Oh yeah? About what?" Wheeljack asked.
"It's about your leader." Skyquake continued.
"What about him?" Arcee asked carefully.
The freshmen present listened in on the conversation between the older students, but Miko wasn't paying attention. She had her headphones in her ears and her eyes were staring out into space. It was with her turned head that she noticed Knockout and Breakdown walking off back towards the school.
She wouldn't have thought anything of it if the two of them weren't wearing mischievous grins on their faces.
The young girl turned towards the Autobots, who were in deep conversations with the Jeddin twins regarding something she really didn't care about at the moment.
"Hey guys." Miko spoke up.
No one paid any heed to her words except for Jack and Raf.
"What is it Miko?" Jack asked.
"I just saw Knockout and Breakdown heading off back towards the school." Miko replied.
Raf and Jack looked at each other in confusion.
"So?" Raf wondered.
"I dunno. I just have this bad feeling about it." Miko answered. "Maybe we should check it out."
"They're just heading back to the school Miko." Jack said. "You know, they attend the school."
Miko huffed angrily and crossed her arms. "I'm telling you guys. They're up to something and I can feel it. So, if you guys are just gonna be useless, then I'll go and investigate myself."
Then Miko got up from the table and jogged off after Knockout and Breakdown.
Jack and Raf looked back at each other before getting up themselves and going after her.
The freshmen followed Knockout and Breakdown through the halls of the school and led them to an unfamiliar door which they both slipped through.
"Huh? What is this?" Jack wondered.
"Um, I think that that's where the school's main computer system is." Raf replied.
"What could they be doing in there?" Jack asked.
"I dunno. But I bet that it isn't good." Miko spoke as she went over to the door.
"Miko! Wait!" Jack said.
Miko carefully and quietly opened the door and peeked through.
She saw Knockout sit down at the computer and Breakdown stand next to him.
"What are they doing?" Raf whispered.
Miko shrugged and continued watching as Knockout took out a USB drive and put it into the computer.
Knockout sighed. "This is Soundwave's specialty. But hey, mister Sounders refuses to do anything until Megatron regains his pair so Starscream decides to take things into his own hands but of course he's not actually doing anything."
Knockout began typing onto the keyboard.
"No," He continues. "he sends me in to do some hacking work. Whatever whatever."
"Relax Kevin." Breakdown spoke. "Just get the thing done so we can go."
"Alright alright." Knockout muttered as he continued to type.
"What are they doing?" Miko whispered.
She tried to get a better look and move inside, but the door made a sound and the two Decepticons whipped their heads back to see the freshmen peeking in.
"What?" Knockout gasped as the three freshmen ran out of the room.
"Breakdown! Get them!" Knockout exclaimed.
Then Breakdown took off after Jack, Miko and Raf.
