You know what I'm not fond of very much right now? School. You know what I am very fond of right now? Overlord.

*sigh* anywho, pathetically short chapter to give you but leading up to something...at least, I think it is.

Jack all but isolated himself for the next week. By then, the rest of the Autobot faction had found out about his situation and no one really approached him about it. Not that Jack helped, what with him avoiding every Autobot he came across.

Except for Miko. She was just persistent. She went so far as to start following him home.

"Jack!" she exclaimed happily as she literally jumped out from behind a bush. "How're you doin'?"

"Scrappy. Really don't wanna talk right now Miko." Jack muttered.

"Oh come on Jack. What's wrong? So you're grounded. We've all been grounded. Lord knows I've been grounded. Arcee's probably been grounded. Bet ya Raf's been grounded, like, when he was two, or something. Bulkhead's probably been grounded. Wheeljack's definitely been grounded. Bee, Chromia, Optimu-okay, now that's stretching it. That is not a troublemaking guy. A freaking saint he is. Unless someone was messing with his girl of course." Miko rambled.

"Look Miko not right now. Please." Jack continued.

"Hm. You know that you can't solve your problems by sulking on your lonesome. Your issues always turn out good after someone gives you a pep talk anyways, cartoon style." Miko retorted.

"Who says?" Jack demanded.

"The writer apparently."

"What?"

"What?"

...-.-'

"Anyways, I'm not allowed to hang out with friends regardless. My mom is seriously pissed." Jack said.

"Pfft. Parents get mad. It's kinda their job." Miko replied.

"Miko! I-I lied to her!"

"And that was your decision remember? No use pouting about it now! It's not like you were all torn up about it until you got caught anyway! Everyone makes mistakes and all that. Everyone lies. Me, you-"

"My dad! And my mom reminded me about that! Just when I thought I could forget about him I end up-"

Jack stopped his rant and looked up at the girl watching him silently.

"Just...drop it okay? I really appreciate you trying to help but you wouldn't understand. I have some serious baggage." Jack walked past Miko before she spoke up again.

"So what? You think you're the only one with problems? You think you're the only one with pretty scrappy parents? Well guess what you self-pitying flop, you're not the only one! You think you're the only one who has a dad who just can't seem to stand your very existence?"

The two freshmen stared at each other for a good minute.

"So...uh..." Jack began.

"What? Do we spill our tragic backstories now or what?" Miko questioned sarcastically.

"...nah. Let's just agree that we have sad pasts. Boo hoo and move on." Jack decided.

"Right. Awesome. I guess I'm rubbing off on you." Miko said.

"Yeah right." Jack replied with a smirk.

"Alright then. I guess my work here is done then. Feel better then Jack. See ya!" Miko finished happily and left with a swift wave.

Jack waved back and continued on back to his house.

When he arrived his mother was there making dinner.

"Hey Jack. How was your day?" His mother greeted.

"Not bad." Jack replied.

"That's good. Get your homework done then dear. We're gonna have dinner by six." his mother explained.

He was still grounded. His mother was still upset with him, but the two of them continued on with their normal routine. They still talked and all that, but there was a certain tension in the air. Still left over from his mother's initial reaction.

"Okay mom." Jack replied as he went upstairs to his room.

Miko was probably right.

"Ugh." Jack mumbled to himself. "If Miko ever heard me say that out loud I'd never be allowed to live it down."

Jack rubbed the back of his head.

"But yeah. I guess that so called 'pep talk' kinda worked out." Jack decided as he entered his room.
