Babysitter
"Shikamaru, you can watch Hiruzen for me for a few hours, right?" Kurenai placed the squirming two year old in Shikamaru's arms. "Tsunade wants me to teach a cover lesson at the academy."
"Why me?"
"Hinata is sick, Shino is on a mission, I haven't left him alone with Kiba yet, Ino was working, I can't find Choji,"
"I get it." Shikamaru holds up a hand before Kurenai can get through the entirety of Konoha. "I'll take him."
"Now there's sunblock etcetera in the bag. Oh and some food, he'll be hungry in about an hour . . ."
"I know, Kurenai-Sensei." Shikamaru shoulders the bag.
"And don't you dare smoke around my son, Nara Shikamaru! You need to quit that damn habit!"
Shikamaru gives her a pained look as she turns to leave. She know as well as he does that he would never light up around Hiruzen. And she, like all of his friends, knows that he could never just 'kick the habit', it's one of the things that gives him a connection to his old Sensei. Cigarettes and this kid that will inturn become his student someday.
I chose Hiruzen for Kurenai and Asuma's baby because, well, It's probably what Asuma would have chosen. But just you watch, now Kishimoto will reveal that Kurenai had a girl. I guarantee it.
In other news I won $30 of vouchers for the liquor store today. Good thing 18 is the legal drinking age in New Zealand (And right before Christmas! SCORE!)
