{[( I've been gone for a while dealing with some other projects, but I thought I'd come back and continue this one. So… here we go.)]}
"A date?" Kid said, confused.
Maka nodded. "I actually said that?" She asked herself.
Kid sighed. "Maka, I don't think this is the time for-"
Maka stopped him. "Please, Kid. Remember what you said earlier… about confessing my feelings?"
The words rang in his mind. "If you care for someone, then you shouldn't overthink what it is you are going to tell them. You should just be honest, both to yourself and the other about your feelings." He sighed.
"Kid, this is me being honest. I want a date." She said, trying to sound like she wasn't nervous.
He shook his head. "Maka, though I am flattered by your feelings for me, this is neither the time nor the place to be-"
"You think I don't know that?" Maka said. "Kid, I know it's not the ideal place for a date. There's a possible kishin on the loose and we can't let our guard down, but... " She paused. "Kid…"
He wasn't sure what to say.
"Kid, lately I've been having feelings for you. Feelings that I didn't have before." She said. "It started a little before we came here… I just want to know if it's right to feel this way." She said, putting her fist over her heart.
After a minute of silence, Kid sighed. "Alright then. I suppose we can afford to go on a date, even given the circumstances." He said, sitting back in the chair.
Maka smiled. "Thank you." She said. "I'll call my dad tomorrow about those lessons… I just hope he doesn't get too overexcited."
-The Next Day-
"Of course, Maka! I'd be happy to teach you how to use your powers!" A voice came through the phone, Maka holding it away from her ear. "We'll be there soon, so as soon as we get there, we can start!" He shouted again.
Maka sighed. "Yeah, whatever. I'll see you then." She said, hanging up. She went to the mirror in the bathroom and stared at herself. "I've been wearing my hair down a lot lately…" She thought. "I wonder if Kid likes it that way." She said, fixing it so it was as perfect as possible. She wore a white collared shirt with short sleeves and a black tie with a black skirt that resembled her usual one. "I don't want to chance not looking right for this." She said.
Kid stood in the mirror looking at himself as well, in his usual outfit. "This is good enough, I suppose." He walked out of his room and knocked on her door. "Maka, are you ready for our date?" He asked, feeling a bit strange.
Maka blushed. "Date. Right. I'm dating Death the Kid." She said to herself. "Why am I acting so strange? This is so out of character for me." She sighed and walked over to the door and opening it. "Hey… Kid." She said. "What's wrong with you, Maka? It's like you've never talked to him before!"
Kid raised an eyebrow. "Are you ready to go?" He asked, motioning a hand as if to guide her.
Maka nodded and walked out, closing the door behind her. She wasn't quite sure what to do or say. "Maybe I should have asked for advice…" She said to herself. "But who would I ask? Soul would probably just laugh, Tsubaki's never been with anyone, and I am not asking my dad for help." She said to herself.
Kid looked at her and stopped. "Maka," He said, calling her attention. "You seem nervous. Is there something wrong?"
She shook her head. "No, it's not that… I just have never done this before. I'm not really sure what we're supposed to be doing." She said, not looking at him directly.
He put a hand on her shoulder. "The way I see it, we should just act as we normally do. So long as we treat each other with mutual respect, I will consider this an enjoyable experience." He said, calmly smiling.
She smiled. "Can we at least hold hands or something?" She asked. "I think that's what people do on dates. At least, that's what the how-to thing said." She covered her mouth, embarrassed that she just said she looked up what to do.
Kid took her hand and continued walking with her. "Oh, I almost forgot." He said, turning to her. "You look nice today, Maka."
She blushed brightly and giggled before everything seemed to be getting warped and blurry. "Wh-what's going on?" She asked. "Is… is it the Slenderman?" She asked, concerned. Everything turned to black and the next thing she knew she was in bed. "Huh?" She sat up. "I… I was dreaming?" She said to herself. She fell back and sighed. "Well, that explains why we were acting weird…"
She got up and walked to the bathroom, turning on the shower. Scrolling through the music on her phone, she began playing music through the phone and got into the shower, leaving the phone in the sink to amplify the sound. "I wonder… what do people do on dates?" She asked. "I mean, in the movies people usually go out to dinner or to a movie. And then they do something after, but I don't think I'm ready for that just yet." She said, as the water got warmer.
Kid knocked on the door. "Maka, are you awake? I found some information that might be useful to us." He said, gaining no response. "Maka?" He asked again. He used the spare key and opened the door. "Maka?" He asked, stepping inside. He heard music coming from somewhere.
"Fairy blue kimi no tame ni hoshi wo kudaki. Kazaritsuketa, Black paper moon shinjite kureta nara, when you're lost here I am forever with your soul miagereba kagayaku tsuki no you ni~"
Kid knocked on the door. "Maka?"
Maka screamed. "Kid? What are you doing in my room?" She asked.
"I found some information on the Slenderman I wanted to go over with you." He said.
"It couldn't wait until later?" She sighed. "I'll be out in a minute." She said. "Oh no, did he hear me singing?" She thought.
Kid sat down against the wall next to the bathroom door, reading the information he'd printed off. "You know, you have a good voice, Maka." He said, matter-of-factly.
She froze up. "I do?" She asked, unsure.
Kid nodded. "Yes, you do. It's a shame you don't do it more."
She sighed in relief. "So he did hear it. At least he thought it was good."
A few minutes later the water stopped. "Maka, about our date." Kid said from outside.
Maka said nothing, just listened to what he was going to say.
"I would like to take you somewhere you really want to go. After all, my tastes are not all the same as yours, and I would like to show you a good time." He said. "So, if you happen to have anywhere that you would like to go, I'd be more than happy to accommodate."
Maka smiled and dried herself off, wrapping the towel around herself as she wiped off the mirror and looked at her own reflection. "Kid, be honest." She said. "Do you think I'm attractive?" She asked. "Not symmetrical, but attractive as in… cute." She asked, posing slightly.
Kid took a bit to respond. "I suppose I would consider you to be attractive." He said, thoughtfully.
She blushed. "Kid, I have another question." She said. "Have you ever.. had feelings for anyone?"
The next silence was even longer, but eventually Kid finally responded. "I can't rightly say I have. I've never really looked at any women in that way."
Maka nodded. "I see… you know, if you don't want to go through with the date… you don't have to." She said. "I was being selfish last night. I'll still ask my dad for lessons, so…"
"You aren't forcing me to do anything I don't want to, Maka." He said, cutting her off. "True, I don't harbor any strong romantic feelings for you right now," He paused as she looked down a bit. "but I would be lying if I told you I don't have any."
Maka looked back up, seeing her own reflection again. "I'm not dreaming again, am I?" She asked, quietly. She smiled and started to reach for her hairties. "Hey, Kid? Do you like it when I have my hair down?" She asked.
Kid nodded. "I like you any way you like yourself, Maka." He replied. "It shouldn't matter what I think."
Maka nodded and looked at herself again, pulling her hair up and letting it fall, just to see which way she liked it more. True she wore it up more, but it was partially because it was easier to manage during a fight. "I think I'm going to leave it down for now. But I'll bring some ties with me." She said.
Kid stood up and walked to the window. "It's safe to come out, Maka. I promise, I won't look." He said, looking out the window.
She nodded and cautiously walked into the room. "I don't know why I'm being so paranoid. I can trust Kid not to look." She said to herself as she quickly changed into a short sleeved, white collared shirt and a black tie with a black skirt, matching her dream self. "You can look now." She said.
Kid turned around and held out the papers. "Here, take a look at this." He said.
Maka took the papers and read through them. "Wait, this is just a bunch of creepy pasta. We can't trust this stuff." She said dismissing it.
Kid nodded. "I thought so too, until I saw this." He handed her another paper.
Woman Disappears Looking for Missing Friend
"Wait… this article…" Maka said in disbelief.
"Is the reference for one of the sections of the creepy pasta stories. It's very possible that the story in that article is actually the cause of him." Kid said.
Maka looked through the article. "Kid, if this article was used to make these… how many other stories in here are true?" She asked.
Kid sighed. "I don't know, but we can't let any more happen." Maka nodded. "Let's stop talking about it for now though. It's said that the more you talk about it, the more likely it is to find you."
{[( Okay, so not the most eventful chapter, but give me a break, I'm writing a whole lot of other stuff, much of which is not on here. I hope you guys enjoyed this chapter. I hope to make more soon, hopefully not over a year from now.)]}
