Chapter Sixteen

I cry out and grab the sheets when another contraction hits me. Emily holds me down and says soothing words as Sue drapes a warm towel over my stomach. The boys have been gone for hours and I am growing impatient for them to come back and the baby to finally come.

"Please let me push the baby out," I beg and cry.

"Not yet, Marinna, you have to wait a little longer," Sue coaches. I try as hard as I can to no scream again at the top of my lungs. Emily massages my legs and she talks to me soothingly and Sue walks around getting a few things done.

"When will they get here?" I ask between breathes.

"They said they should be back by sunset," Emily says.

'Marinna, are you alright?' I hear Sam ask through the pack link.

"Sam," I say. Sue and Emily stop when they hear me and they wait for me to say something else.

'Hey, baby girl, we are on our way. Embry is running as fast as he can to get back to you,' Sam says with a smile in his voice.

'Hang in there, Marinna,' Seth and the rest of the guys say. I tune them out and close my eyes to find Embry.

'Mari,' Embry huffs. I smile and listen to his husky voice. 'Hold on, baby, I am on my way to you.'

"Hurry," I groan and then grip the bedsheets again at another contraction. "Sue..."

"Almost, Marinna," Sue says. She rushes over to check and I let out a sharp, piercing scream. "Marinna, stop pushing."

"I cannot hold on anymore," I cry. The front dor slams open and heavy footsteps come up the stairs. The door to the room is kicked open moments later and Embry stands at the doorway breathing heavily.

"Sue, how is she and the baby?" Embry asks, as he walks over to me. He sits on the bed with me and he smiles as he takes my hand in his. "I told you I would be here for you."

"She is wanting to push, but it is not time," Sue says. I lean my head back and scream while pushing.

"It is time for him to come out!" I scream. Sue sighs and then coaches me as I push. Embry caresses my cheek and whispers in my ear.

I sit in the bed holding my precious little boy in my arms and watch him sleep peacefully. Embry is asleep next me with his arm around my waist. Emanuel Mattias Call is born and as beautiful as his father. I smile as I touch my son's cheek and watch him move like Embry when he is touch in his sleep. Embry wakes up when Emanuel kicks his arm.

"Hey," Embry grumbles with a smile. He sits up and leans against the head rest with his arms around me. We watch our beautiful boy sleep in my arms. "He is beautiful like you."

"I think he is more like you, Embry," I giggle softly. "My sweet Emanuel, a gift from god that I never thought I would be able to have."

"Well, it is good to know we could have more later on in life," Embry taunts. He chuckles and then kisses my head a few times. "I love you, Marinna."

"I love you too, Embry," I say and lean my head against him. We fall asleep together as a family for the first time.

A few weeks later

Emanuel stares at his Uncle Matthew in confusion when Matthew is making faces at him. My sweet boy has gotten bigger over the weeks and he is only four weeks old. He does not cry often and he always being held by someone in the house. My baby boy is going to be a spoiled baby when he gets older. Sam and Emily are due to arrive for the late baby shower for Emanuel. Embry is in the back helping Jacob cut some wood for the fireplace and Billy is talking to Sue in the kitchen. Charlie is over since Bella is hanging out with her boyfriend for the day. I did not mind her not coming to the baby shower, she broke my brother's heart. Jacob was injured in the fight and is almost completely healed from the help of Dr. Cullen. I sit next to my brother with a big smile on my face. Emanuel begins to whimper when Matthew adjusts him a little and at a scary face Matthew made.

"Mattie, you made Manny cry," I scold my twin, as I take my son away from him. Emanuel begins to cry and he nuzzles against me when I hold him in my arms. "Oh, my poor Manny, mama is here and is going to protect you from your mean Uncle Matthew."

"Hey, we were having fun just minutes ago," Matthew says with a laugh. Emanuel, or Manny as everyone seems to call him, sniffles and nudges my breast a little. "I guess he us getting hungry too. Do you need his nursing blanket?"

"Please?" I bat my lashes at my brother. Matthew rolls his eyes and grabs the blanket I made for Manny as his nursing and travel blanket. I toss it over him just as Embry comes in with Jacob and the two are covered in snow. Manny squirms and whimpers more in protest of my slow pace.

"Emanuel, wait for mama to get situated," I say softly to my son. Embry smiles at me as he sheds his jacket. Allison walks over with a glass of water in her hand.

"Is he being a little fussy?" Allison asks sweetly. She adores her grandson dearly and she loves being able to care for him when Embry and I have school or patrols. "Do you want me to hold him?"

"Mom, Manny is nursing right now," Embry says. He sits at my feet and caresses Many's back. I adjust our son to let him latch on his source of nutrients and he grunts as he suckles. "That's my boy, eat so you can grow big and strong."

"Aw, we need to take a photo of the little family," Sue says. Leah and Seth are on patrol before the party. Matthew gets up to let Embry sit next to me. I curl into Embry's arms as he puts his arms around me. Manny is oblivious of the world around him as he eats. Sue snaps a picture of us and then awes at it with Allison. Our family is just a loving one and filled with weird people. Embry kisses my head and lifts the blanket a bit to see his son.

"Hey, give your girlfriend some privacy," Jacob teases. Embry laughs and throws one of Manny's toy at him. Manny slows down for a minute and his lips slack, letting me know he is falling asleep.

"Embry, try to keep him awake. He needs to eat," I say softly. Embry pats Manny's back and it jolts our son a bit to continue his eating.

"Maybe he needs to burp," Embry says when Manny stops again. I give him our son and adjust my shirt and bra for a moment. Manny looks so small when Embry holds him. He lays his head on his hands and looks around a little while Embry pats his back. I look at my son and into his beautiful green eyes. I pray he does not lose his green eyes. Sam and Emily arrive with the rest of the pack and the house becomes filled with chatter and laughter. Sam cones to hold his nephew for the first time. Embry puts his arms around me and holds me close as we watch our son meet everyone in the pack family for the first time.
