Chapter Nineteen
We are sitting in the waiting room for the doctor to come and get us. Embry is holding me in his arms and he is whsipering soothing words. Sam has my hand in hid and zemily is sitting next to him tapping her foot. We came here as quickly as we could and I am afraid of losing my baby before I could see my baby on the ultrasound screen or even to its little heartbeat. The nurse called my name and Embry helped me to my feet to get me to walk. But, I begin to cry from the worry and from the sadness from earlier. Embry carries into the room and I bury my face into his chest. The doctor rushes in when she see me in Embry's arms.
"What happened?" The doctor asks, as Embry lays me on the examination table.
"She did something that caused too much stress and it hurt the baby. I am not able to describe the whole scene," Embry lies to her. I grab his hand as the doctor and nurse prep for checking everything on the baby. Embry kisses my forehead and he murmurs softly for only me to hear. The nurse brings in the ultrasound machine when the doctor checks my lower half.
"She has bled a bit, but nothing to serious and no signs of a miscarriage. Let's see if we can see the little sport on the machine," the doctor says calmly.
"Embry, we cannot lose the baby. Manny is going to be a big brother," I sob. Embry shushes me softly and he smoothes out my hair.
"Manny will be a big brother and we are not going to lose this baby. You did great th Manny and you will the same for this baby," Embry says. The doctor squirte the gel on my now exposed tummy and rubs the wand over the gel. We look on the screen for any kind of sign for our little one. It is moments before we hear a faint heartbeat.
"There he is, but he is struggling a little," the doctor says and points to our little blob on the screen. I smile and cry more with happiness. "He is going to be fine, but mommy needs to remain in bed for a little bit and is to not lift a finger except to care for this little guy's big brother."
"You hear that, Marinna? He is doing okay," Embry says softly and kisses my forehead. The doctor tells us what we have to do until our next appointment and she lets Embry carry me out. Sam and Emily stand when they see us. We tell them the good news and we all head back home. Emily tells me that she will get Manny from Billy's and we would meet her at Allison's house. Embry keeps me in his arms and he has one hand over our baby protectively.
"Embry, the baby is fine now," I whisper sleepily. He kisses the top of my head when we pull into the driveway of Allison's house. Sam parks the truck and goes to get me out while Embry unlocks the door. Sam holds me close as he carries me in and places me on the couch.
"You need to rest, Mari-Belle, promsie to rest for me and your baby. You gave the whole pack quite a scare," Sam says sweetly. I kiss his cheek before he leaves with Emily to go get Manny. Embry sits in front of me and he nuzzles his face against my tummy. I close my eyes and olace my hand on his head softly. He begins to cry quietly at the scare we just had and the thought of what could of happened had we of last our baby. I drift off to sleep, exhausted from the day.
Manny is alseep in my arms when I wake in our room. He is curled up against me tightly and he is sleweping peacefully. I smile at my little boy and look around to see Embry asleep in a chair next to the bed. He was reading a book from school before he passed out. My heart skips a beat when I reach down to my stomach and hear my baby's heartbeat with my son's and their father's. All my angels are here with me and it makes me smile. I sit up and it causes Embrh to stir a little. He rubs his eyes and looks at me sleepily.
"Hi," I say softly.
"Hi, how are you feeling?" Embry asks with a sleepy smile on his face.
"Better, how long have I been to sleep and did you bring me in here?"
"Yeah, I brought you in here and then Manny when he got ehre. He was asleep in the truck with Sam and Emily. They wished for you to get better and take care."
"Oh, that is good." I look at Manny and take a deep breathe. "Any word on Jacob?"
"No, we cannot hear him or vice versa. He is gone, Marinna, but he wil come back for you, Manny, and Billy."
"I cannot believe he just left. I mean, I understand he is hurt, but that does mot mean he can abandon me and Billy." I wipe my eyes ands try to keep from crying. Embry gets up and crawls onto th bed to hold me in his arms. I bury my face into his chest and I take deeo breathes to keep from crying. It takes me ten minutes to finally calm down and I curl up against Embry. He rubs my back and lays his cheek on my head. Manny walks up a little and crawls on top of Embry. He falls back asleep with my hand and Embry's hand holding him close. We remain like this in silence before Embry says something.
"Will you go to the wedding with Billy?" Embry asks.
"To support Billy, yes, I cannot let him go alone," I say. Embry does not respond, instead he kisses my hair softly.
"You should be showing by then and I can stay home with Manny if you want," Embry says.
"No, I want you and Manny there for my support. I know you do not know the Cullens and Bella much, but go for me," I plea. Embry nods and holds me closer to him.
Months later
Manny toddles over to me and he smiles while holding a flower in his hands. We are all at Billy's gtting ready for the wedding. Sue and Seth agreed to tag along and Sue is helping adjust Billy and Embry's tie. I slowly bend down to pick uo my cutie in his little suit and sit him on the table to tie his shoes. His curly hair is pulled back in a small ponytail. I look like I ate a medium sized balloon with the baby. We are expecting another little boy, but I have a feeling that we are going to have a little girl. Embry walks over and he kisses my shoulder while rubbing our baby a little.
"Are we ready to go, mama?" Embry asks. I smile and nod when I ifnish tying Manny's show. He reaches for his daddy and embry obliges. Billy has been hinting that the two of us should be thinking about getting married with our newest arrival due to come soon. But, Embry and I keep brushing it off. Sue helps me into the truck while Embry outs Manny in his carseat. The three of us sit in the back with Sue, Seth, and Billy in the front. Manny sings a song for us as we drive and it makes everyone smile at the little boy's contagious happiness. He reaches over to rub his baby brother and babble to him. My little man is nine months oldand a big boy like his daddy. Over the past nine months, I have been watching my son grow a little fast than normal because of my vampire side in him and he is looking more and more like his father. Embry and Manny start to talk about his baby brother just before we arrive to the Cullen's house. I get manny out of his carseat and he holds my hand and Embry's hand as we all walk to the door.
"It is going to be alright," Billy says, as we wait at the door. I smile at him and lean down to kiss my father's cheek.
"I just wish Jake was here with us," I whisper. The door is opened and we are all escorted back to the backyard. Manny gasps at the pretty things around him and he tries to run off. Embry keeps Manny close when Manny suddenly tries to run over to Charlie.
"Charwie!" Manny giggles. Charlie walks over with a woman in a purple dress and he scoops up my happy boy in his arms.
"Glad to see you could make it, Marinna," Charlie says. I smile and give him a sideways hug. "Renee, this is Marinna, you remember her right?"
"Oh my goodness, yes, you have grown into a beautiful young lady. Is this your son?" Renee says with a big smile.
"Yes, this is my son, Emanuel," I say kindly. Embry puts his arm around my waist and I lean against him. "This is my boyfriend, Embry Call."
"A pleasure to meet you," Embry says. Manny and Charlie are playing together.
"Charlie seems to be in love with your son. And I see you are having another one soon?" Renee says with a small laugh.
"Yes, another little boy. Hopefully Charlie loves this one as much as he cares for Manny," Embry says.
"Oh come one, I love any kids that Marinna has. She is like family to me after all," Charlie says. He cups my cheek and smiles at me. "I just hope you are not the next one to get married since Bella is getting married today. I am sure she would be glad to see you here."
"Really? Because we did not get along too much," I say with a smile. Manny reaches for me and he pats my cheek. "Yes, mi amore, mama is right here."
"Mama," Manny says and kisses my cheek. Renee and Charlie escort me to see Bella. Embry stays with Billy and goes to find us a seat. Manny remains with me because of Charlie. We all walk back into the house and we reach the top floor. Bella sees us and she smiles widely. A few of the Cullens are there and they smile at Charlie and Renee, but they look at me with fear or confusion. Bella walks over to me and gives me a big hug. We became a little closer when she heard that Jacob ran away.
"Any word from him?" Bell asks.
"No, but I am sure he is wishing he could be here with you. It might break his heart, but he would be forced to be happy for you," I say. Manny hands Bella a flower he found and he smiles bashfully.
"Thank you, Manny, you are so sweet. Take care off my mama and your baby brother. Also keep an eye on your Uncle Jake," Bella says with a big smile to my sweet boy.
"Wake?" Manny asks for Jacob. I nuzzle his cheek and whisper in Italian to him. I leave them to let Bella finish. Manny waves behind me with a big smile as we walk away. I stop at the bottom of the stairs and take a deep breathe when the baby moves a little. Just like with Manny, this baby is going to be a kicker. I make it to Embry near the altar and sit in the pew. Embry sits next to me, takes my hand and kisses the top of it softly. I lay my head on his shoulder and try not to whimper.
"Baby, whatis the matter?" Embry whispers.
"Nothing, just the baby kicking me really hard," I say. Seth sits next to me and Sue sits next to him. We remain like this and the baby settles a little before starting back up when the procession begins. Mannh notices and he kisses his brother to make him stop. The baby stops when Manny rubs my tummy and kisses him a few times. Manny is a good boy and remains quiet throughout it all. The moment Bella and her new husband share their first kiss as husband and wife, everyone stands up with applause. We stand up as well to clap. Embry bounces Manny with a big smile andmy two boys look at me with big smiles. Everyone moves to the reception area to see that it has been well decorated. Manny dances with Seth and we laugh at the two silly boys. Embry sits close to me and he has his arm draped over the back of my chair. I have my hands on the baby as we sit and enjoy ourselves. Charlie sits with us and he is smiling widely. I decide to get up and go to get some more food. Embry kisses my hand before I leave and I smile while waddling my way over the foor table. One of the Cullens is there and he is staring at me intently. I look at him and see that his dirty blonde hair is slicked back neatly and he golden eyes are locked on mine. My heart stops for a moment and then my world suddenly shifts a bit. The moment he breaksour eye contact, I feel weightless like something was lifted off my shoulders. Bella walks over to me and gives me another hug.
"Edward, meet Marinna Uley-Black," Bella says. I look at her new husband and stiffen a bit. "She is Jacob's adopted sister but Sam's cousin."
"A pleasure to meet you," Edward says with a small smile. I nod my head and look at the blushing bride.
"You look gorgeous, Bella, congratulations," I say happily. She smiles and then excuses herself to get something. Edward steps closer to me and his smile is gone now.
"You are not a normal wolf, are you?" Edward asks.
"Excuse me?" I ask appaled.
"You are a normal wolf are you? I have not smelt your scent before," Edward says once more. The one from moments ago walks over and he glares at Edward.
"What are you doing to the poor girl?" The man asks. His voice sounds southern and is like music to my ears. Embry comes over and rescues me from the two males by taking me back to the table. He remains closer to me after the rescue and I can feel the Cullens' eyes on me because Edward was suspicious of me now that he caught my scent. What am I going to do now?
