Revelations
"Thought I would find you here." Kisame stepped onto the docks.
"Hn."
"What are you thinking about?"
"Life." Itachi stared into the water. "Death."
"Heavy topics, even for you."
"Don't patronize me Kisame, I know I have a few weeks or maybe months left a best." Itachi turned to face his partner. "This disease is eating me from the inside out. I know how I want to die."
"Can't be 'with a bang', Deidara beat you to it." Kisame smirked at the Uchiha. "You said not to patronize you."
Itachi smiled. "Good ol' Sasuke, knew he would grow up to be something special."
"That why you left him alive?" Kisame had long been keen to know his partners motives.
"I left him alive as a warning to the Hidden Leaf, if they harmed him I would rain hell upon them." Itachi explained. "It doesn't matter now, I can tell you. The reason I killed my clan was that they were planning a Coup De Tat of the Leaf. If that had went ahead there would have been casualties on both sides and the Leaf would have killed all the Uchiha, even the innocent children. I was given an ultimatum, kill my clan, become an out cast and save my brother or watch as both sides destroyed the other."
"So you chose your brother."
"That and my loyalty to the Hidden Leaf." Itachi held up a hand. "I'm not giving then Akatsuki reports. I chose to protect the Leaf, as my cousin would have."
"Didn't work, Sasuke want's to destroy the Leaf."
"Not after he kills me and realises my true will he won't."
"You're insane."
"I have been told that run's in the family."
"Come on, we're wanted at the hideout." Kisame rolled his eyes as he waited or Itachi to stand up. "You're like an old man."
"I'm twelve years younger than you, Seeing-Eye-Shark."
I honestly think Itachi would be more relaxed around Kisame, and after 'Dr Snakes' we know he has a sense of humour.
