Wise
Growing older made you wiser, or so they said. Jiraiya wasn't sure if he believed them. He had grown older, sure, but he didn't think he was any wiser.
If he had been wiser he wouldn't have left three children, one with the Rinnegan, in the middle of a war zone. If he had been wiser he would have looked after his godson rather than ignore hid for twelve years. If he had been wiser he would have been able to stop Pain.
He found it ironic that he held the title of Sage, a word typically associated with wisdom, when he himself barely had had the wisdom to return to Konoha. He wanted to laugh in the faces of people who would even consider taking advice from a man who had let his team shatter.
To the people of Konoha however, Jiraiya was a legendary figure, a man with such great life experience, that his advice must be the best on offer.
I'm mentally exhausted. Sorry this sucks so bad.
