Chapter Forty-Seven
Jasper is on the phone with Esme and Carlisle about the children and how I am doing. I am sitting on a lounge chair reading a book from the wonderful library that Jasper had filled for me. He has tried very hard to get me to get one of the little devices that hold your numerous books, but I am just too old fashioned for that. Jasper's voice changes for a moment and I realise that he is talking to the children. I put my book down to walk over to him, only to find him in our room and he is pinching the bridge of his nose.
"Jazz?" I ask, getting closer to him. He looks at me and he smiles a little. "Is everything alright?"
"Yes, everything is fine," Jasper says. He tosses his phone onto the bed before walking over to me to cup my face with his hands and kiss my lips softly.
"You know you are still a terrible liar after all these years?" I say with a smile. Jasper chuckles lightly and he wraps his arms around my waist.
"Manny was telling me about how much fun he was having with Embry. Apparently, Embry has a girlfriend now and he is hoping to ask her for her hand here soon. Embry asked Manny if we wanted to the ring bearer and his best man," Jasper says. My heart breaks a little and I look down at the floor. Not too long ago, that was me waiting for some form of engagement from Embry. Yet, here we are, split up and still fighting over who gets to have Manny. "Hey, Manny was very happy in the offer and he said he wanted to talk to you about it."
"I know, he should do it to make Embry happy," I say softly. Jasper lifts my chin and we share a smile before kissing each other sweetly.
"Come, I want my beautiful wife smiling the whole time we are here. So, no unhappy moments," Jasper says. I giggle when he takes my hand and gently me pulls me outside to stand in the beautiful warm sun. Jasper shimmers a bit in the sunlight and we quickly strip our outer clothes to have a dip in the sea. I dive into the cool, crisp water and emerge with a laugh. Jasper comes up behind me and tosses me into the air, making me scream happily. I land in his arms and he peppers my face with kisses. Jasper kisses my lips last and he rubs my nose against his.
"I love you so much, Jasper Hale," I whisper against his lips. My hands run through his wet curls when he chuckles a little.
"I love you much more, Marinna Hale," Jasper purrs. I wrap my arms around his neck while he sets me down on my feet. His hand runs up my back to my neck and I kiss his nose softly. "My life would not of been as wonderful as it is now. You showed me the light and gave me three beautiful children."
"Well, since you brought that up," I say with a big smile. "How would you feel about trying for another baby?"
"Do you want another baby?" Jasper asks, with hope in his eyes and his voice. I nod while biting my lip, Jasper laughs and he spins me around happily. "I love you even more right now! How many more do you want?"
"I would love to have as many as we can," I say. I know that I may live a longer life than most humans, but I am not sure how long a hybrid of my kind can live if we do not choose a certain side. But, I will not shed those thoughts on Jasper and make him worry about the chance I may or may not die. Jasper lifts my chin and he looks into my eyes.
"What are you thinking about?" Jasper asks.
"Nothing, I am just happy that you want another baby," I lie and a tear falls down my face. Jasper wipes it and he puts his forehead on mine.
"Marinna, you are hiding something from me, but I have faith you will tell me in time," Jasper whispers. We remain in each other's arms for a few more seconds, before going on our wonderful swim until the sun sets over the trees.
The plane ride home was long, but I slept most of the flight. The moment the plane lands and comes to a complete stop, I look out the window to see my three babies waiting for us. Jasper smiles and motions for me to go and greet them. I kiss his cheek before grabbing my jacket and run down the stairs to hug my three angels. Manny, Christian, and Christine exclaim and shout for me, as I run towards them with tears running down my face. The tackle me to the ground and we all laugh while giving hugs and kisses.
"Mama, you are home!" Christian and Christine exclaim. I look at my children and see that have so much in the past month and a half we had been gone. Manny has longer hair pulled back into a ponytail and his skin is much darker. Christine and Christian have grown taller and they also have longer hair. I sit up and hold all three of them in my arms, thanking God for keeping my angels save and sound. Jasper comes down the stairs and he smiles to see the four of us on the ground.
"Look, papa is coming down the stairs," I say. Manny and Christian release me and run to their father. Jasper chuckles and puts our bags down to scoop the boys up to spin them a little. Christine snuggles against me as I stand up with her in my arms and she touches my hair.
"Your hair is lighter, mama," Christine says.
"Thank you, mon ami, I missed you," I say. I nuzzle her cheek and give her smooth skin many kisses. Jasper walks over with the boys and we all join in a big family hug. We are all together at last and I pray we never get separated again.
