Chapter 35

Angie smiles when she sees how Olivia and Alex are looking at each other. There is no doubt in her mind that the two women belong to each other. She knows that the both of them are willing to do everything for the woman they love and are married to. Angie has a feeling that what she just saw is only a small part of what Alex is capable of or what she will do for Olivia. Not to mention the medical help she insisted on to get for the Detective. And she seriously doubt she wants to be the object of Olivia's wrath when it comes to Alex. Knowing the hidden message the blonde had said when she told Prof. Taymar that Olivia is far more protective or defending about the attorney then the other way around.

"Let's move on and remove the tube, shall we?" Angie asks with a smile.

Olivia nods eagerly. She wants the tube out of her throat, yesterday so to speak.

"Stop stalling and get the damn tube out, Angie." Alex answer smiling back.

"Alright, you don't have to get impatient or bossy, Counselor." Angie laughs while walking to the breathing machine to turn it off.

Alex just shakes her head. Angie disconnects the the breathing tube from the machine and looks at Olivia.

"You know the drill, on the count of 3, you take a deep breath and slowly breath out while I remove the tube." Angie says.

Olivia nods. Angie counts to 3 and slowly removes the tube while Olivia breathes out. When the tube is out Olivia coughs a few times and starts to control her breathing. Within 30 seconds she breaths normal and starts speaking.

"Angie, would you be so kind and get Casey and the Prof. back into the room? I like to say a few words to the Prof. to make something clear." Olivia ask, her voice giving away what that 'something' is.

"Oh oh." Alex mumbles under her breath.

"Sure, Detective. I would like to ask you to keep yourself calm though. You're just out of surgery." Angie answers.

"I will, as long as he behaves himself." Olivia answers.

"That's all I can ask for. Alright, I'll get them back inside now." Angie answers and walks to the door.

"Don't scare him to death, Detective. He won't be able to help you anymore then." Alex says softly.

Angie opens the door.

"Casey, Prof. you may come back inside. Prof. Detective Benson wants to say a few words to you. I suggest you don't object. It's not a wise thing to do I think." Angie says.

"Crap." Casey whispers to herself, walking back into the room.

But the Prof. heard her. Getting a 'deer looking in the headlights' look in his eyes, the ass chewing he received from Alex minutes ago, fresh in his mind. He knows that after what the blonde ADA said about being protective and defending, this isn't good. He steps back into the room, closing the door behind him.

Hesitatingly he walks toward Olivia's bed.

"Prof. if I recall it correctly, you told my wife that she could stay with me during my staying in this clinic. Am I right?" Olivia asks.

"Yes, Detective." Prof. Taymar answers.

"I thought I was. Now I won't chew you ass off, my wife has done that perfectly, being the best prosecutor this country has, it's not a problem for her to do it. She also mentioned that I'm worse than she is when it comes to being protective and defending. She was right. Especially if she is the one I'm protecting or defending! So I'm going to give you a few reminders for the future, to make sure that you won't object, or trying to, the next time we are in that situation." Olivia says coldly, looking around and at all of them.

At that moment Alex, Casey and Angie know that what ever it is that Olivia is going to say, will be a serious warning for the Prof. Maybe even a threat.

"You see this arm?" Olivia asks, pointing at her left arm, covered in plaster.

Prof. Taymar nods, not daring to speak now.

"Let me tell what happened. Why it is plastered from my shoulder cap to my fingers. I needed to run from my apartment to the elevator and dive into it before the doors closed. When I dived into the elevator I had so much speed that I slide into the wall and my left arm got trapped between the wall and my body. I broke my wrist and ulna and had a hairline fracture in my humerus. I went to the hospital, got x-rays and after that they plastered my arm. I need to add that I didn't got any medication then. I got that much later. Because of a case, Alex and I needed to go to a safe house. However, we weren't safe at all. The perp got into the safe house and I needed to protect my wife when he came into our bedroom. I hit him as hard as I could with my left hand, knowing the plastered would increase the impact of the blow. Not caring the pain it would cost me. Long story short. I ended up being shot twice and shot the perp. He didn't make it, I did as you can see. They took new x-rays and it turned out that the I'd broken my humerus at the place the hairline fracture was when I hit him. I think it is a small example of how far I will go if I need to protect Alex. And yes I mean it when I say small. You see there is nothing I won't do when it comes to protecting Alex. As for defending Lex, I let Casey explain that to you with the example of what happened to Officer Peabody. You do remember Officer Peabody, don't you Case?" Olivia finishes, looking at the Prof.

Alex jerks up her head with a huge smile on her face. Not only is she finally going to find out what happened to the Officer, she also knows that it will be good, since Olivia is bringing it up now. Angie knows that the Officer either had his ass chewed off, badly, or had his ass beaten by the brunette, knowing the Detective by now. She smiles when she turns her head to look at Casey. The Prof. is getting more and more uncomfortable. And afraid to find out what will happen if he would make a mistake regarding to Alex. He also turns his head to look at the Redheaded ADA.

"Oh yes, I do remember Officer Peabody. I will never forget him. And I'm sure he won't forget you. Obviously he had a problem with women before it happened." Casey answers smiling at the Detective.

"Nah, I don't think he will forget me. Nor will he do it again." Olivia answers.

"Liv. Shut up and let Casey tell us what happened." Alex almost whines.

"Lex, stop whining like 2 year old toddler. Casey start telling before Toddler here gets really impatient. And with some details." Olivia says with a small smile around her lips, but her eyes are serious.

Casey nods at Olivia and turns to look at Alex since she owed her this story. The Prof. will hear it without looking at him. Besides from the corners from her eyes she sees that Olivia is staring him down. So she doesn't need to look at him too. Looking at Alex she starts explaining.

"Liv and I were training on the mat from the NYPD gym. You know the area where you have mats on side and the weight machines on the other side. Liv was learning me some self defense moves one time per week. It was shortly after you were back the first time. Anyway, as I was saying, we ware training when Officer Harry Peabody and consorts came walking in and they walked to the weight machines. They failed to notice that Liv and I were at the other side of the area. They were talking about women and the NYPD. And they weren't nice to be exact. Since they were talking louder and louder, Liv and I could hear them talking. The started to talk about the women on their squad, also Liv's squad, when Peabody started to insult Liv. Not directly but they talked about that bitch Detective, it was clear he was talking about her. Liv decided to let it go, but we moved so they could see us and start training there. At first they still didn't notice us. Things were getting uglier. Liv was busy shooting daggers to Peabody's back and didn't notice that one of the other guys saw us and elbowed Detective Bain, who was standing next to Peabody. Bain saw Liv and leaned towards Peabody whispering something in his ear. That Liv did saw. But she remained to stay calm, sort of. Peabody laughed loudly and walked towards us motioning the others to follow him. Bain walked with him while the others tried to stop them. But they kept walking and stopped about 6 feet from us. Then Peabody did the most stupid thing he could do. He looked at the guys and said something about the female ADA's assigned to SVU and how they always screwed up. He must felt threatened with Alex because then he said that almost all women at force were fucking lesbians and that if the cold and heartless bitch was friends with Liv she must be gay too. That it was no wonder that the Ice Princess was shot, that she probably was to busy looking at Liv's tits, his words not mine, then pay attention at her surroundings when she was shot. And to make things worse, that she was assigned to SVU again. Of course by then Liv was pissed off. She walked towards Peabody and got in his face and chewed his ass of. You may know how that went. Even though you could see that he was scared with Liv, his ego was bigger then his brains were. He was putted on his place while the rest of the guys were standing around him. And that didn't do any good to his ego. Obviously he had never seen Liv in action, taking down a perp or in the interrogation room, because he dared Liv to hit him as hard as she could saying that she could never take him down since she was a woman. But to everyone's surprise, including me, she didn't. Instead she said to him that his kid nephew who was 10 probably hit harder then he did. That was all that was needed to get him to his boiling point and he swung his fist in Liv's face, hard. Liv, finally I would say, had enough and she gave him an uppercut to his chin. Needless to say the were in a fight after that. Bain was grasped by two of the other guys and holding him back from the moment Peabody started talking about the female ADA's. Liv had kicked his ass verbally a minute before he hit her and now she kicked his ass again, physically. The only time he really hurt her was his first swing at Liv. The one that hit her face. And no she didn't broke her nose then, she broke it with the perp later that night like she said. The guys didn't interfered until Peabody was on his back and Liv had his head locked. At first he wanted to report Liv, but all the guys, even Bain, said that they all would testify against him. That it was his own fault he got his ass kicked twice. And that he deserved it. Sure joking about women was fun, but that he went to far and crossed the line big time, twice. They said. That's what happened." Casey finishes.

It was quiet in Olivia's room for a few moments. Alex is thinking that Olivia had not once but twice risked her job defending her. For as far as she didn't know it already, she knows now how far Olivia will go defending her.

"Let me get this straight. You did not once but twice risk your job to defend me?" Alex asks.

Olivia shrugs her shoulder and smiles sheepishly. Casey shakes her head, thinking that Alex doesn't see it. But the blonde sees it.

"Wait a second. Casey, you better tell me the truth. How many times did Detective Badass here risked her job for me?" Alex asks.

"I plead the fifth." Casey answers.

"This is not the time to talk about how many times I risked or didn't risk my job. Prof. I think I made it perfectly clear how protective or defending I am about my wife. Didn't I?" Olivia asks sternly.

"Yes, Detective. Crystal clear." Prof. Taymar says softly, his head still spinning from what he just heard.

"Good. Now if you will excuse me, I would like to rest. So if it's not a problem I would to discuss the options for any treatment later. Or talking about the surgery. The only thing I want to know now is if the surgery went well. Is that fine by you Prof.?" Olivia asks.

"Yes, that won't be a problem Detective. I can come back and talk about everything in an hour or two hours tops. For as far I can tell without doing any tests, I think your surgery went well and that there are no problems or complications due to the surgery. Given the conversation we all just had together." Prof. Taymar answers.

"Thank you Prof. Taymar. If you could come back in two hours I would appreciate that very much." Olivia says.

"Yes, Detective. Now, I don't want to offend you, especially not after what I just heard, but are you always so hardheaded, shall I say, or is it because of the narcotics?" Prof. Taymar asks, hesitatingly.

Alex, Casey and Angie burst out in laughter. If the Prof. thinks Olivia is hardheaded now, he won't know what hits him if she is hardheaded. Olivia can't help herself and snickers. Prof. Taymar looks at them if they had grown a second head. Alex shakes her head at the look on the Prof's face.

"Prof. I hate to tell you this, on second thought no I don't hate it. Anyway, if you think Liv's hardheaded now, which she absolutely isn't, you won't now what hits you if she is hardheaded. And believe me she will be hardheaded and very stubborn during the time we are here." Alex says, trying not to laugh.

"Oh, ok, right, well, I'll go now. I'll be back in two hours." Prof. Taymar stutters.

"Thank you, Prof." Alex and Olivia say at the same time.

Prof. Taymar turns around shaking his head, mumbling something under his breath that sounds like 'damn cops and lawyers' while walking out of the room.

"I think I will follow him, out of the room that is, and leave the three of you alone. If you need me, call me, otherwise I will be back in two hours too." Angie says.

"Wait a moment, Angie. Can you shut off some or all the machines? I would like for Alex to be able lying down with me without alarms going off." Olivia asks.

"Alright, let's make a deal. If you let me switch the clip from your right hand to your left hand and keep it there, I will take the rest away. I want to keep an eye on you." Angie answers.

"Deal of course." Olivia answers eagerly.

Angie smiles and switches the clip quickly from the right to Olivia's left finger and turns off the rest of the machines.

"Happy now, Detective?" Angie smirks.

"What do you think yourself?" Olivia smiles.

"Good. Now I really leave you all alone. Again, call me if you need me in the mean time, otherwise I will be back in a little under two hours." Angie says.

"Sure. See you in two hours, and thank you for taking care of Lex, Angie." Olivia says.

"No need to thank me, Detective. Besides that it was my pleasure to do it, I'm not as stupid as our Prof. here or Officer Peabody was. Seriously, I'm glad I could help you all in this way. See you later." Angie answers.

"See you later. And you certainly are not stupid, just wanted to say that." Olivia says.

"I agree with Liv here. See you later, Angie." Alex says.

Angie smiles at all the three women and leaves the room, closing the door behind her. Olivia looks at Alex.

"Counselor, get your pretty butt out of that chair and come here, I want to cuddle. Casey, you don't have to leave. I really only want to cuddle now and talk with the two of you before I want to rest." Olivia smiles.

Alex almost jumps out of her chair and climbs on Olivia's bed. She leans into Olivia's right side, carefully. Not wanting to cost her wife more pain and wanting to tell Olivia the good news.

"What, no snuggling into me, Lex? I'm not made of sugar you know. It's alright to snuggle into me." Olivia asks.

"I will later, right now I have some really good news to tell you." Alex answers with watery eyes.

A/N2 I think we all know what that really good news is. How will Olivia react when she hears it? And did she finally get rid of her pain attacks...? Or did you guys forget about them during the last two chapters? I'll try to update as soon as I can.
