Chapter 3- The First Night

Me: The introductions are complete, and now Twilight wants her explanations. This is going to be interesting.

Itachi: Speaking of explanations, how about how we even got to this world in the first place?

Me: That'll come later. For now, let's jump into the third chapter. I do not own the rights to Naruto Shippuden or My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.

Itachi and I followed Twilight back to the library, which was her home. She opened the door using her magic and shut it behind us when we had entered.

"This is my home." She said gesturing around the place. The inside looked like what you'd expect from a gigantic tree: a hollowed out body that still maintained the wooden walls and floor, a number of rings stretching out from the center of the circular floor. A staircase without a railing ran along one wall and up to a second floor. Windows were placed strategically around the building so as to allow as much light as possible filter in. A single table sat close to one bookshelf on the other side of the room, surrounded by four cushions placed on the floor. Twilight walked over to the table and sat down on one of the cushions, Itachi and I following suit. As we did so a door on the second floor opened and a small, purple dragon with green scales running down his back appeared at the top of the staircase.

"Oh, you're home." He said.

"Hello Spike." She said. Spike looked over to us and took a step back in surprise.

"Um, Twilight, what are humans doing here?" He asked pointing at us and looking at us with the nervous air of someone standing next to a grizzly bear.

"That's actually what I'm trying to find out. Would you mind getting us something to drink?" She asked.

"I guess." He said still staring at us. He hugged the wall as he slowly made his way down the stairs.

"Oh come on, Spike. These two won't hurt you." Twilight said somewhat agitatedly.

"Yes ma'am!" He said straightening. He then began to walk more casually, still glancing at us out of the corner of his eye as he went into the kitchen.

"Sorry about that, Spike's a little naïve sometimes." Twilight apologized. "It's alright; we aren't often warmly welcomed anyway." I said.

"Well then let's begin." She said.

"So, first I want you to tell me more about where you're from." She said looking between the both of us.

"The place we come from, as you know, is called the Land of Fire. It is one of the Five Great Nations that make up most of our populated planet. The others are the Land of Water, the Land of Earth, the Land of Lightning, and the Land of Wind." I said.

"What exactly do these nations look like?" She asked.

"May I have a piece of paper and a pen?" I asked. She nodded and her horn was again surrounded with a purple aura as she used her magic to bring forth a piece of parchment and a quill and ink well. She set these objects in front of me and I took the quill in my right hand and began to draw the shinobi world. I drew the coastline and then began to draw each of the nations, starting with the Land of Fire.

"This is the Land of Fire, in the center." I said.

"To the northwest, we have the Land of Earth." I said drawing the nation in the upper left corner of the map.

"Over here, to the northeast, we have the Land of Lightning." I said.

"Finally, we have the Land of Water to the east, and the Land of Wind in the southwest." I said as I completed the map. I marked each of the five nations with their respective kanji.

"Why are they named Fire, Wind, Water, Lightning, and Earth?" She asked.

"They're named after the five Chakra natures; which one is determined by which Chakra nature is most dominant in that area." I replied.

"Chakra natures?" She asked, clearly getting more confused as the session went on.

"I'll explain about that later." I said. She nodded.

"In these nations there are smaller civilizations, or villages, that are scattered about the land. Itachi and I live in the Hidden Leaf Village, the most powerful village in the Land of Fire." I said putting a marker on the area where it was most closely located.

"You said it was the most powerful village in the Land of Fire, does that mean there are other villages equally as powerful?" She asked. I nodded.

"The Land of Lightning has the Hidden Cloud Village, the Land of Water has the Hidden Mist Village, the Land of Wind has the Hidden Sand Village, and the Land of Earth has the Hidden Stone Village. Each of these villages is different in the sense that they are more powerful than the other villages in their lands, and they are led by a Kage." I said.

"A Kage?" She asked. I nodded.

"A Kage is the most powerful shinobi in the village. He or she is often chosen by their predecessor, which is to say the previous Kage, or by the Feudal Lord when the Kage dies." I said.

"Kage, that means 'shadow' in Japanese, right?" She asked. I nodded.

"The Hidden Leaf has the Hokage, the Hidden Sand has the Kazekage, the Hidden Cloud has the Raikage, the Hidden Stone has the Tsuchikage, and the Hidden Mist has the Mizukage." I said.

"Okay, that makes sense." Twilight said after processing the meanings in her head.

"Right. I'll let Itachi explain Chakra to you." I said giving Itachi the go ahead.

"Every living thing has a type of energy known as Chakra. It is created when spiritual energy and physical energy are combined and can be used for a variety of tasks. We shinobi have learned to use this Chakra for battle by using it in special techniques called Jutsu. Jutsu allow us to use our Chakra and create physical or mental techniques used for battling. There are three types of Jutsu: Ninjutsu, Taijutsu, and Genjutsu." Itachi explained.

"Ninjutsu, Taijutsu, and Genjutsu…" Twilight said.

"Ninjutsu is the most common form of Jutsu used by shinobi. Ninjutsu involves manipulating your Chakra through hand signs to release a specific energy from your body that can take many different forms. The form it takes is dependent on the Jutsu. For example, I can perform the Fireball Jutsu, which is self-explanatory. My brother can perform a Jutsu called Chidori, which focuses the power of lightning into his palm."

"The power of lightning in his palm?! That's incredible!" She exclaimed. At that moment Spike returned with a tray that held three cups of coffee. He walked over to the table and set the tray down; peering at the map I had drawn in curiosity.

"What's that?" He asked pointing to it.

"This is a map of the world Tid and Itachi came from." Twilight replied. He leaned in to get a better look and a look of confusion crossed his face.

"What do these symbols mean?" He asked craning his neck to view it from different angles, probably hoping it'd make sense if he saw it from a different view.

"They're Japanese kanji; they mean fire, water, earth, wind, and lightning." Twilight replied.

"Oh." He said stepping back.

"That'll be all Spike. Thank you." She said. He nodded and went back up the stairs to the same room he had appeared from.

"Now, tell me more about this Chakra." She said turning her attention back to us. Itachi nodded.

"The next form of Jutsu is Taijutsu. Taijutsu is simply a shinobi's ability to fight using physical techniques, such as punches, kicks, and etcetera." Itachi said.

"Oh, is that all?" She asked.

"No. Chakra can be used to improve these techniques, such as through the Eight Gates, but that's really all there is to it." Itachi replied.

"The 'Eight Gates'? What are those?" She asked.

"That's not important right now." I replied.

"Oh, alright." Twilight said somewhat astonished.

"Genjutsu is the art of confusing your opponent's senses. For the Uchiha, we use our Sharingan to put our opponent's under Genjutsu." Itachi said.

"Except for you, Itachi; you could put someone under a Genjutsu just by pointing." I said.

"That's not the point." He said.

"Ha, point. Anyway, I thought it was worth mentioning." I said.

"Can you tell me more about your Sharingan?" Twilight asked curiously. Itachi nodded.

"The Sharingan is an ocular power possessed only by the members of the Uchiha clan. The Sharingan, upon its first awakening, has a varying number of tomoe around the pupil, depending on the user." Itachi said. He activated his Sharingan and pointed to one. "

"Oh, I see." Twilight said nodding.

"The Sharingan has three levels, each level gaining one tomoe. At the first level, the Sharingan can see an opponent's Chakra, and gives it color to allow the user to distinguish between them." Itachi said.

"Really? Then you can see my Chakra right now?" Twilight asked. Itachi nodded.

"What else can it do?" She asked.

"The second level of the Sharingan allows the user to predict the movements of others as well as copy techniques, such as Ninjutsu or Taijutsu." Itachi said.

"That's incredible! What about the final level?" She asked.

"The final level allows the user to use all of the Sharingan's abilities. The Sharingan allows for a heightened ability in perception as well as Genjutsu. The Sharingan allows a user to predict an opponent's movements through the smallest tension in their body, even going as far as to show an image of the attack before it actually happens. This allows for the user to counter-attack or evade with no wasted effort." Itachi said.

"Sounds extremely efficient." She said.

"It is. The Sharingan also allows the user to use any technique observed as if it were their own; making the Uchiha very flexible in combat skill. The most famous of the abilities, however, is the heightened Genjutsu prowess the Uchiha receive." Itachi said.

"Explanations can't really prove just how amazing the Sharingan is. We've explained some of what the Sharingan can do, but it can do so much more. Itachi here is the best user of the Sharingan, especially with his Genjutsu. He's been able to use it more effectively than anyone, even one of the most revered Uchiha in the world." I said.

"Is that true?" Twilight asked leaning in toward Itachi. Itachi gave a slight nod.

"Not only that, but he's unlocked the Mangekyou Sharingan." I said.

"The Mangekyou Sharingan?" Twilight asked turning to look at me. I nodded.

"The Mangekyou Sharingan is a more advanced form of the Sharingan, unlocked after an Uchiha loses something or someone important to them. For me, that was my best friend Shisui." Itachi said.

"I'm so sorry." Twilight said, her eyes softening with sympathy.

"Don't be. It was better for him to die on his own than to die by my hand." Itachi muttered.

"What was that?" Twilight asked.

"It's nothing." He replied.

"Well, what does this Mangekyou Sharingan look like?" She asked.

"The look varies from user to user, but we can show you ours." I said.

"You've unlocked it too?" She asked in surprise. I nodded.

"Then let's see it." She said. Itachi and I nodded and we both activated the Mangekyou Sharingan, Itachi activating his Eternal Mangekyou Sharingan. She looked between our eyes rapidly, almost as if she were trying to see them both at once. "

"What can the Mangekyou Sharingan do?" She asked. "

"The ability the Mangekyou Sharingan gives the user also varies from user to user. Itachi's hand movements are so fast they take no time at all. I have the ability to teleport to anywhere I can see nearly instantly." I said.

"I see." Twilight said.

"The Mangekyou Sharingan also gives the user one or two new Jutsu that are activated through ocular use." Itachi said.

"What are yours?" She asked.

"I have the ability to use Amaterasu and Tsukuyomi. The Amaterasu are black flames that burn all they touch, and cannot be extinguished except by the user. They burn everything, even other flames, until nothing remains but ash. The Tsukuyomi is a nearly unbreakable Genjutsu that is applied through eye contact. Mastery over this Jutsu allows the user to change the victim's perception of time, creating the illusion that days have passed when in reality only a few seconds have passed. This Jutsu is particularly useful for torture and psychological damage." Itachi replied.

"What about you?" She asked turning to me.

"I possess the ability to use the Mangekyou Black Hole, and the Mangekyou White Hole." I replied.

"Is there anything else the Mangekyou Sharingan can do?" She asked.

"Yes. One other main power that is rarely seen in Uchiha is the ability to use the Susano'o. The Susano'o encompasses the user with an ethereal being, often wielding a Spirit Weapon. I am one such Uchiha who possesses this power." I said.

"That sounds incredible. There has to be some cost to use these powers?" She asked.

"There is. In addition to the Chakra it takes to use the Mangekyou Sharingan, which for Uchiha is minimal and the Sharingan can be used nearly constantly, the Mangekyou Sharingan puts an incredible amount of strain on the user's eyes, and eventually leads to blindness after activation." Itachi replied. "

"What? Blindness?" Twilight asked incredulously. Itachi nodded.

"In exchange for extreme visual prowess, the eyes eventually take the user's sight." Itachi said.

"There has to be some way to stop the blindness, right?" She asked. I nodded.

"When an Uchiha transplants the eyes of a close family member, they awaken the Eternal Mangekyou Sharingan, which never goes blind." I said.

"Have you awakened it?" She asked.

"I have." Itachi replied.

"What about you?" She asked me. I looked down into my coffee, my Mangekyou Sharingan staring back at me from the pool of black liquid.

"Oh, I see." She said. Her tone was full of sympathy, which told me she was genuinely concerned.

"It's fine, there's nothing that can be done about it now." I said as I deactivated my Mangekyou Sharingan.

"Is there any other way we can stop the blindness?" She asked. Itachi shook his head.

"Once the Mangekyou Sharingan goes blind, the only thing that can reverse it is to implant the eyes of a family member into his eyes." He said. She looked upon me with concern. I looked up from my coffee and straight into her eyes.

"This is the path that has been chosen for me. When my eyes go blind, it'll be over." I said. She looked away and closed her eyes.

"I think it would be best if we put an end to this discussion." Itachi said deactivating his Eternal Mangekyou Sharingan (his eyes reverting back to the normal Sharingan), and closing them. Twilight looked at him.

"Yeah, that would be a good idea." She said.

I looked out of the window and saw the sun setting behind the distant horizon, making way for the night sky.

"It's getting late." I said. Twilight also looked out of the window.

"It is." She said. Then she looked back to us with a smile.

"Tell you what, since you don't have a house, you can stay here as long as you need to." She said. I was somewhat surprised when she said this.

"You would do that for two strangers?" I asked her.

"You're not strangers. You two are now friends with me and the others. Welcome to the herd." She said extending her hoof. I fist-bumped her hoof and Itachi followed suit. She chuckled.

"Come on, I'll show you where you'll be sleeping." She said. She stood from the table and led Itachi and I up the flight of stairs and into a room directly across from the stairway. The room was empty, save for the blank bookshelves that lined the walls.

"Here, I'll make your beds." She said. With that she took a few steps forward and closed her eyes, a bright light emanating from her horn. Itachi and I had to shield our eyes from the intensity with which the light shone. After a few seconds the light died down and Itachi and I opened our eyes to see that she had literally made our beds. Her face was beaded with sweat and she was panting.

"Are you alright?" I asked.

"Yeah, it's just I don't use that spell very often, so it kind of tires me out." She said.

"Thank you." I said. She nodded. With that she left the room and Itachi and I walked toward our beds, removing our cloaks before slipping under the warm blankets.

"Do you think we'll ever return to our own world?" I asked Itachi in the darkness of the room.

"I think we'll eventually return there. However, I wouldn't mind living in this world. It seems to be free of strife and hatred." Itachi replied.

"Yeah, I guess you're right. I think I could get used to this place." I said.

"For now try and get some rest, we have no idea what we'll be in for tomorrow." He said.

"Alright. Goodnight Itachi." I said.

"Goodnight." He said. I then closed my eyes and fell into a deep sleep.

Me: That was interesting, was it not? Will Tid gain new sight once his Mangekyou Sharingan goes blind, or will he be stuck in this world without light? Keep reading to find out! See ya next time!
