Chapter 8: Time for War part 1

Death scanned his hollowed eyes across the row of weapons, meisters, and etcetera that had gathered before him. Standing in front of his gaze were all his available death scythes: Spirit, Azusa, and Marie. Alongside them where Stein, Maka, Soul, Crona, and Medusa.

"Hmmm...?" Death began. "It's to bad that Justin, Sid, and the rest of Maka's team aren't here as well. Though I'm sure that my son is on his way here as we speak. Perhaps by the time he gets here, it won't be too late to tell him what's going on."

Soul glanced over at Medusa. "I'm not looking forward to dealing with the headache of explaining to Kid that Medusa's on our side now." he thought to himself. His eyes refocused onto Lord Death. "BlackStar as well..."

Marie stepped forward. "So, do we actually have a plan for all this. I mean you guys didn't take the last hour and a half discussing nothing about what we're gonna do, right?"

"Indeed we do, albeit a convoluted one." Death said in response.

"What do you mean 'convoluted'?" Spirit asked arching a brow.

"I mean it's going to be annoying." Death said bluntly earning him uneasy stares from his students and staff (and Medusa). "Medusa, Stein, please step forward if you would so we can go ahead and wrap everything together." he said looking at the two gesturing them to come to the front.

Medusa and Stein stepped away from the crowd and up to Lord Death's side. Stein spoke first. "Basically, due to Medusa's research on black blood, she has been able to identify a very interesting flaw with it."

Medusa flinched to the word "flaw". She cracked an angry smile. "Well that flaw is going to help us out quite a bit Stein..." she said a little angry.

Stein smiled. "Still a flaw." he said in a way intentionally provoking her anger (come on Stein. Life lesson #1: Don't fuck with a woman who could easily break you in half).

Medusa glanced at him angrily. But before she could send him flying, Death tried to get them back on track. "Moving on, if you'd please..."

"Sorry, sir..." Stein responded now getting serious again. "This..." he looked at Medusa not and, not wanting to invoke her wrath, chose a different word to use. "ASPECT of the black blood is that when it is being used during the resonation of a soul or two, the resonance of another soul with lack blood, or an enormous amount of madness, could force their own soul wavelength to resonate with the first soul and neutralize there wavelength."

Medusa stepped forward. "If you all recall, on the night that my team and I resurrected the, we injected him with a large amount of black blood to awaken him." she smiled innocently when she got menacing stares from a few of them for reminding them of that night. "Anyway..." she continued. "Because the kishin has black blood, we can use this as an advantage to try our idea of neutralizing a person's wavelength."

"Well that's all well and good but even if it does work, what happens then, I don't suppose that puts the kishin in a bad enough situation that we would have the opportunity to destroy him?" Spirit asked.

"If it works, then it should temporarily shut down his god like powers." Medusa said. "But whether or not he still as enough energy to survive, we have no idea." she said with a nervous smile.

Everyone made worried faces. "Hang on." Marie said stepping forward. "Can we really just go on this plan alone? It sounds like eve if this does work there's no certainty that we will be able to succeed in the end. Can we really go on this little and expect to win?"

"Don't get your panties in a bunch, little miss hammer head." Medusa said with a faint smile.

Marie blushed. "What was that?" she growled angrily.

"Enough." Stein said firmly, getting everyone's attention. He took out a cigar and lit it before putting it in his mouth. "We can go on this much because we have a secret weapon that is going to help us out." everyone looked at him confused. He shifted his glasses closer to his face. "We're going to use brew to permanently cut of the kishin's wavelength. With the exception of Death and Medusa, everyone's eyes widened.

*Back at the battle field where BlackStar fought Mifune...

Mifune was badly injured but he was finally able to pull himself off the ground.

He looed around ands that BlackStar was gone, causing him to question just how long he had been out. The samurai got up on his feet and, though painful, tried to regain his composure.

The amount of blood he lost was like an anchor forcing him back down to the ground, but he stood firm because he knew that his physical pain was the least of his worries right now.

He had lost to BlackStar, and while he was glad that a soul that was walking the road of a demon had turned and redeemed itself, he could not help but worry about Angela.

Whether he can somewhat feel satisfied or not, he still last the fight. If Arachnophobia were to figure out about this, they would surely terminate their deal to keep the young witch safe.

He tried to walk and began his way back to Baba Yaga castle, praying that he could save her; even if it was one last time. But as the samurai attempted to move on, a familiar voice echoed through his ears.

"Mifune!" it cried out.

He looked ahead and without warning was tackled by a small figure with a very familiar outfit. His eyes widened when he realized it was the chameleon witch herself. "Angela...?" he questioned allowed as she hugged him tightly.

She looked up at him with tears in her eyes. "I'm so happy you're not dead." she cried as she spoke. "He told me they would have killed me if you were dead."

He gave her a confused look. "He? Who's 'he'?" he asked standing back up, gently placing heron the ground.

"That would be me." Mifune tensed when he heard the voice. It shocked him when someone else spoke because he could not sense heir soul. He looked around, searching for the owner of the unfamiliar voice.

Mifune's eyes widened gain when the looming aura of the man walking towards him was made clear. He had never seen this person before; a tall dark skinned man, clad in black, with a black and white plaid hat.

Mifune's eyes narrowed. "And just who are you?" Mifune stood firm but it was still overwhelming to him that he couldn't even since this man until he saw him; and when he did, his soul wavelength felt like an onslaught of death and avarice.

The man stopped walking when he was only a few feet from the samurai and witch. Angela then looked at Mifune with her finger pointing at the dark man. "He's the one, Mifune. He's the one who took me away from the castle and said he would help me find you."

Mifune stared at Angela for a moment. She clearly wasn't injured, so Mifune did not feel any hostility towards this person...yet...

The man with the hat smiled. "Well, Mifune..." he began. "I suppose you may refer to me as Eibon..."

Mifune gave him an odd look. "You're the sorcerer Eibon? Forgive me if that makes me skeptical."

"Eibon" laughed silently. "Allow me to finish..." he continued, getting Mifune's attention. "As far as Arachnophobia is concerned, I am Eibon, BUT..." he held his hand out. "You can call me Noah."

Mifune stared at Noah's outstretched hand with confusion. Noah noticed the confusion on the samurai's face. "Allow me to enlighten you on something. Very soon the DWMA is going to be here with essentially enough people to destroy Arachnophobia and possibly the kishin." he made an eerie grin. "But that's the least of the world's problems right now. Once Asura is gone, an even greater war is going to break out..."

Mifune's eyes widened then narrowed. "And just why are you telling me this?"

Noah then made a more somewhat "human" smile. "Because, I am offering for you to come and join me. How about joining the winning team before the games even begin."

"Another question is: why should I believe you?"

"You don't necessarily have to believe me. But when this thing gets out, nobody's gonna be safe." he looked at Angela. "Nobody..."

Mifune's eyes narrowed.

"And whether or not you choose to believe that..." Noah continued. "I can offer you refuge for your witch friend."

Mifune looked at Angela who looked confused by the whole conversation. Witch or not, she was still a child and did not understand these things. He then looked back at Noah.

"So...Do we have a deal?" Noah asked. Mifune looked down and thought hard. This would have many advantages but at the same time it could turn out catastrophic.

Mifune looked back up at Noah. "For now at least..." he thought to himself. He reached out and grabbed Noah's hand leading them into shaking on it.

Noah smiled. "Welcome aboard..."

Back at the DWMA...

With the exception of Death, Stein, and Medusa, everyone had dumbstruck faces as their eyes scanned the enormous weapon in front of them. They were all gathered down in the academy's vault were they were looking at what was part one of Stein and Medusa's plan. It was by far the largest cannon any of them had ever seen.

"Um, so...We're going to do what exactly?" Maka asked.

"Simply put, we are going to use brew to up grade this cannon and use it to destroy Baba Yaga castle, hopefully injuring the kishin in the process." Medusa said casually.

"You say that so casually (what did I just say)..." Marie said. "I mean isn't this a bit overkill?"

"Actually no..." Medusa said. "If anything, this is actually 'underkill'. It should take care of Arachnophobia but I doubt it will kill Asura."

Stein stepped forward. "It will be programmed so that Baba Yaga castle's coordinates can be input into it and fired from here."

Everyone's eyes widened. "Is that possible?" Soul asked.

Stein raised his eyebrows. "Sure it is, haven't you ever seen Revenge of the Fallen?"

Everyone looked at him oddly. He fixed his glasses. "No, of course you haven't..." he said under his breath.

Death stepped forward. "Anyway, we have BJ working on it now." he pointed at BJ who was on top of the giant weapon working on parts of it.

BJ looked down and waved to everyone. "Hey."

Death looked up at him. "BJ, when do you think you'll be able to get this one?"

"Oh it shouldn't be too long, but it is gigantic so don't be surprised if it takes longer than you think."

Death tilted his head. "Well in that case, where are those witches we hired to help you?"

"They're around here somewhere..." BJ responded looking back and forth.

Al of a sudden, three women popped up behind BJ, all three looking familiar. "Hey boss man! We got your coffee!" exclaimed one with cat ears holding a mug of fresh coffee.

"AAAggghhhh!" BJ fell back in surprise, nearly falling off the cannon.

Soul and Maka's eyes widened when they saw the one of the three in the middle. "Wait...BLAIR!?" they both exclaimed.

Blair looked down and spotted her two roommates. She then smiled and waved to them. "Hi Maka!" she then made a much dirtier grin. "Hi Soul..." she purred seductively.

"Knock it off!" Soul shouted.

Spirit's eyes widened when he saw the other two. "Wait a minute, I now you two. You're the two girls from Chupacabra."

Sure enough, it was the owners of the bar that Spirit often visited, Risa and Arisa. They looked down at him and smiled. "Hi Death scythe!" the said waving.

"`Hello ladies`." he said in arousal but then his eyes widened. He looked at Lord Death with a shocked face. "Wait...DID YOU SAY THEY WERE WITCHES!?" he screamed.

"Indeed..." Death responded casually.

"I heard they were working at a bar in the human world, so I thought they would be useful to us in all this." said Medusa.

Marie made a confused face. "What, are you three friends or something?"

Medusa looked to the side. "Well...not exactly-"

"Of course miss Medusa is our friend, we used to see her all the time." Risa said interrupting her.

Medusa twitched. "Shut up! Let's keep on task."

"Right." Stein said walking forward. "But for now, we have to wait until Kid returns. We can't begin the operation until he arrives so that we may catch him up to speed on what's going on."

Death began to leave the vault. "Right. So come along everyone. Until my son arrives we will wait in the death room."

Everyone with the exception on the three working on the cannon started to head out. As Medusa walked, she felt something grab her arm. She turned around and looked surprised when she saw it was Maka.

"Medusa...I have to ask you something..." Maka began.

Medusa looked at Maka oddly. Usually Medusa would expect this to be a question about why Medusa did what she did in this past but there was no sharpness in the child's voice.

"What is it...?" Medusa asked with genuine curiosity.

Both Crona and Soul stopped when they saw Maka and Medusa talking.

Maka looked into Medusa's eyes. "Why do you...and Arachne hate each other. I mean you two are sisters, right?"

Medusa's eyes widened a little. It was nearly literally a question she was never asked before. Even Soul and Crona watched with confused faces when they heard Maka's question.

Crona walked up to Medusa and placed a hand on Medusa's shoulder. "Um...Mom...?" Crona asked timidly. Medusa looked over to Crona. Crona continued. "That's something I was wondering too. Why do you and aunt Arachne hate each other?"

Medusa made a faint smile. "You called her aunt, that's adorable." Medusa looked down as her smile faded.

After a moment, she sighed and looked back up. "Miss Maka..." she began.

"Yes...?" Maka responded.

Medusa looked at her. "When a human girl has a human sister, no matter how much the two may fight, they have some love or attachment in the end. But when it comes two witches..." Medusa paused for a moment. "...When two witches are sister's..." Medusa took a deep breath. "Sigh, it's just different, okay?"

Maka and Crona stare at her wit odd looks. "I just thought..." Maka began. "Sigh, I don't know. I guess I was just wondering if something happened between you two." she then looked at Medusa with surprisingly sympathetic eyes. "It just seems like sisters should love each other in the end, no matter what."

Medusa stared at Maka for a while but then turned around and began to walk away. "Come along, Crona." were the only words she said.

Crona hesitated but she then looked at Maka. "We should probably go Maka."

"...Right..." Maka responded after a moment of silence.

And they all walked away...

F%#!$king finally! Sorry guys, I wanted to get this done quicker because I spent the last week at my dad's house and he doesn't have a computer. But I couldn't get it done before that because I was also hanging out with a friend and my computer is deciding to be a bitch this month. But While I was at my dad's house, I took the time to make summaries of all the chapters for basically the next 20 chapters, so writer's block shouldn't be a problem anymore. Anyway, hoped you liked this chapter, I'll get to work on the next one after I have worked a little on some of my other stories.
