Chapter 16: All Out Assault
*Inside Baba Yaga Castle...
"Black Star...Black Star!"
The ninja could hear the voice calling to him but he could not break himself from the blackness his consciousness was falling to. As he Black Star's mind started to slowly drift away, the voice cried out one more time for her friend not to give up.
"Black Star! Please wake up!"
The cry of the voice was enough to knock ninja back to reality. As his vision restored itself, he could see a black figure walking away in the distance. At first he could not make out who or what it was, but as he started to lift himself from the cold stone ground, his eyes lit up with emotions of rage and dissatisfaction.
The vampire butler, Mosquito, had severely beaten Black Star to near death and pummeled him into the ground. He walked away knowing that he had one. Of course he did, right? No one is going to get up after having there body broken like that. Unfortunately for Mosquito, he didn't realize who he was dealing with.
"Just Where the HELL do you think your going...?"
Mosquito's eyes widened when he heard the ninja boy actually speaking. Mosquito narrowed his eyes in annoyance as he slightly turned his head to view the ninja who was pulling himself off the ground. "Are you for real?" Mosquito asked then turned his body to Black Star. "You must be joking. I've basically destroyed you and broken you to the point where you are but one punch away from death."
Tsubaki smiled as tears rolled from her eyes. "Black Star..." she murmured. She was so distraught that she had momentarily lost her partner. But as he Black Star stood on his feet alive and well, with a confident smile on his face, Tsubaki new everything would be okay.
Black Star placed his free hand on edge of Tsubaki's blade (she's still in weapon form by the way) causing her eyes to widen a little in surprise. "Tsubaki..." he began. "I'm sorry...I know I've already broken that promise I made you and this is just making it worse..."
Tsubaki continued to listen to Black Star as Mosquito's eyes continued to narrow, getting ever so fed up with this gnat in front of him.
Black Star smiled. "But from here on out..." he raised his head and wiped away the blood to reveal a face of courage. "I'm making a new promise. A promise that starting now, NO MATTER WHAT, I'M NOT GONNA DIE!"
Tsubaki tried to restrict herself from weeping. "I know..." she whimpered. "It just scares me so much...thinking that I might loose you..."
Black Star held the weapon in his sword form close. "You don't have to worry about that." he aimed Tsubaki at Mosquito, who's face had turned to a menacing scowl. Everything was silent for a moment. the two were waiting to see who would make the first move.
..."NOW, TSUBAKI!" Black Star exclaimed.
"Right!"
Black Star jumped at Mosquito with full force. Mosquito just stood there without any interest of showing this mite that he cared about his honor or whatever cliche thing in the world was driving him. the butler calmly raised a hand to prepare a block.
Once Black Star was right in front of Mosquito, the vampire sliced clean through the ninja cutting him in half. But the two halves instantly dissipated and turn to nothing.
"A shadow clone..." Mosquito sighed to himself. He turned his head slightly to see two more Black Stars coming down on him in an attempt to cut him down. "Oh please..." Mosquito formed a wall of bats to block the two ninjas.
As soon as the swords made contact with the bats, the bats formed into two spike that pierced right through the two Black Stars. "Pathetic." Mosquito spat. But as the two fake ninjas vanished only to reveal that the vampire was now surrounded by a horde of Black Stars about the cut him down. "Are we really doing this again?" Mosquito arched a brow. "It didn't work last time, IT'S NOT GONNA WORK NOW!" Mosquito unleashed an even larger swarm of bats that quickly disposed of each clone.
But once all the clones were gone, Mosquito arched a brow in confusion when he did not see any sign of the real Black Star. He turned around to see if by some chance he did kill the boy, but he could not locate him. Mosquito bared his fangs and narrowed his eyes in anger. "Blast! Where did that gnat run off to?!" he thought to himself.
He looked all over but could not find the blue haired ninja. "Dammit!" he thought. "Did he sneak by me?" he turned and looked at the pathway that lead deeper into the castle. Mosquito could feel his anger overflowing as he imagined what could happen if he let that little pest any further into the castle.
Mosquito then headed at full speed through the hallway to stop Black Star from doing anything that would make the vampire's job a living hell. But as he was about to exit the room, Black Star swooped out from behind the doorway, causing Mosquito's eyes to widen with surprise and shock.
"SURPRISE, ASS HOLE!" Black Star, without warning, delivered a swift clean blow to Mosquito's chest, hurdling the vampire all the way to the opposite side of the hall.
Black Star heard a crash followed by a cry of anger as Mosquito collided with the wall. The ninja then turned and decided to head off before the vampire could get back on his feet. He ran further into the castle, fully prepared for whatever he may come across.
"Wait, Black Star? Where are you going now?" Tsubaki asked as he ran.
"Don't worry, Tsubaki. I'm not going to do anything like take on the Kishin or Arachne...yet." he looked around as he ran, trying to see if he could make out which path would lead where.
"Then what are you doing?" she asked.
Black Star smiled. "I'm gonna go find that little witch girl and get her the hell out of here!"
Tsubaki then smiled knowing that Black Star had not forgotten about the person that they came to save in the first place.
The two ran off, ready for anything that came at them; behind them: an enraged vampire who was a thread away from loosing his mind. He ripped himself away from the rubble on top of him and stood to his feet with his anger flailing around him like fire. His eyes were burning red as he screamed: "GET BACK HERE!" and he dashed off after Black Star.
*In the jungle...
Giriko was STILL wandering around the thick jungle in search for Sid so he could cut him to ribbons, but he had no luck of finding the zombie. He was already annoyed and mad, but the pain that was throbbing in his chest simply wouldn't leave, AND IT PISSED HIM OFF!
The worst part was that he knew exactly what was causing this pain but even knowing what it was wasn't enough for him to except it. He would not stop, not fall, not rest, until he killed just one person that was important to the DWMA. and also...not until he saw his Lady Arachne one last time.
Dammit..." he muttered to himself angrily, grasping at his chest as the pain became more and more unbearable.
Sid, who was actually not too far away, was trying to get as far as possibly away from the enchanted chainsaw. Even though Naigus had enough time to patch him up so that he could move on his own again, he knew Giriko would lash at the slightest sound. What was worse was that Sid felt that he could not run regardless of what Giriko did.
"Sid.." Naigus called from his knife holder. "This is getting us nowhere. He doesn't seem like he's going to give up any time soon. You have to get away."
Sid grunted and clutched at where he had been cut. "Believe me Naigus, if I could also turn into a small hand held object, I'd say carry me on YOUR side and make a break for it."
"This is no time for jokes..."
"I know, but what is there to do? I'm not in a condition where I can beat him and I'm still too sore to run from him." Sid turned his head to make sure that they were still at least out of Giriko's field of vision.
"I know..." Naigus responded. She sighed before continuing. "But this isn't exactly a good situation we're in right now either.'
"I assure you my mind is running at a hundred miles per hour trying to come up with a solution." Sid turned and looked behind himself once more. "Well...I haven't seen him for quite some time. Do you think he might have-"
Before Sid could even finish his sentence, Giriko swooped in without warning, ready to kill the zombie. Sid's eyes widened as the spinning blades came at him. "I FOUND YOU!" Giriko shouted as he came down on the zombie. But Sid was able to jump away just in time before receiving immediate death.
"Dammit!" Sid exclaimed as he forced himself away from the mad weapon. Once he was able to look at Giriko head on, Sid hated to admit that he actually felt a little fear from the look on Giriko's face. His eyes were filled with madness and his teeth were grinding into a lunatic's grin as he panted uncontrollably, releasing mad laughter with each breath.
"HEY ZOMBIE MAN! HOW YOU DOING?!" Giriko was screaming while keeping his insane smile. "I'M FEELING PRETTY FUCKED MYSELF, BUT HEY, THAT'S NO REASON TO JUST GO AHEAD AND TAKE A FUCKIN SHIT ALL OVER EVERYTHING, AM I RIGHT!?"
Sid was actually very worried. He knew that if Giriko attacked him with full force that he would surely be killed. He took a step back, what was he to do if the odds of running away from this or taking giriko head on were against him?
Giriko began slowly approaching Sid with his killer instinct cranked up to 9,000. "OKAY!" he began. "HERE'S WHAT'S GONNA HAPPEN! I'M GONNA KILL YOU LIKE A MOTHERFUCKER AND THEN GET BACK TO THE DAMN CASTLE BEFORE MY FUCKING BRAIN FALLS OUT!"
Sid looked at him confused. He had noticed that Giriko looked to be in pain since the chainsaw started chasing him. What n the world was wrong with him and just how damn resilient was he to be able to put up with it all. "This is definitely not good..." Sid thought to himself.
But before Sid could think of a plan, Giriko gave no warning head jumped at the zombie with full force. "TIME TO DIE ZOMBIE MAN!"
"SHIT!" was the last thing Sid could say before something odd happened.
Sid had momentarily closed his eyes and as he opened them, he saw the blades of Giriko's foot motionless in front of his face.
Giriko's eyes were wide with anger and shock. "No.." he muttered. "Not now...I can't..be...done...y..ye..." to Sid's surprise, Giriko's eyes had become black and his body fell to the ground lifeless.
Sid stared at Giriko in utter confusion. "What the..." was the only thing he could think to say.
Sid looked over Giriko's seemingly lifeless corpse wondering what in the world had just happened. He knew Giriko was in pain, but was what ever was bothering him REALLY enough to kill him? "What on earth just happened...?"
Forget it..." Naigus said, getting Sid's attention. "We don't exactly need reason for why ever that just happened. Let's just be happy we can move to were we need to be without any problems now."
Sid took one last look at Giriko. Even if he was the enemy, it seemed a bit wrong to just leave him like that, not even bothering to find the source of his death. But Naigus was right; they needed to get going. Having to hide from Giriko had already wasted much of their time. Thankfully for them, Lord Death had not yet called with the order to begin their final strike on Baba Yaga castle.
Sid headed off, trying to ignore whatever had happened.
Giriko continued to lay motionless...
*In the Death Room...
Death and Spirit had just watched what had gone on between Medusa and Stein moments ago. Death was standing silent but Spirit stared at the mirror with his eyes wide and his jaw on the floor. "Oh..My..." was all he could think to say.
"Yup!" Death said a little cheerfully. "I told you everything would work out." he gave a thumbs up to Spirit who just stared back at the death god with his face still full of shock.
"No you didn't!" Spirit exclaimed. "You said Medusa was still evil and that Stein was our only hope! Did you know this would happen?!"
"Maybe...Kinda." Death said with a monotone voice in contrast to Spirit's confusion.
"What do you mean KINDA? Did You know all this would happen?!"
"What can I say, I'm Lord-Freaking-Death!"
Spirit gave him a bored look. "You had no idea who would win, did you...'
"No, not really..." Death said still in a good mood.
"Then don't say you DID know it would happen!" Spirit exclaimed.
Death was silent. He eventually turned back to the mirror to keep watching what was happening. "To be honest, Spirit...I was actually sure for a moment that Medusa would kill Stein."
Spirit's eyes widened a little. "Wait, sir...you mean even YOU thought she could have won that? Medusa's THAT powerful?"
"Spirit..." Death began as he turned to his death scythe. "I'm gonna level with you...I'm fairly certain that she could've easily killed Stein whenever she wanted."
Spirit's jaw hung down and his eyes widened yet again. "Sir...?" he didn't quite know what to say. But after hearing that, all he could do was remember their battle underneath the DWMA and how Medusa was reluctantly defeated. If what Lord Death was saying was true, then both Spirit and Stein could have easily died in that tunnel."
Death turned back to the mirror and looked at Stein and Medusa as they made up an explanation to give to the young meisters. "But...I think even Stein knew that she loved him to much to ever actually kill him."
"I just find that so odd..." Spirit said with a sigh.
"Why is that?" Death asked.
"Well it's just..." Spirit wanted to think very hard about what he was going to say, because what he was about to mention was something that he had NO part in. "It's just that this whole time, I mean I kinda figured they had a thing for each other, but I always thought it was a kind of love that was simply wanting to tear the other person open and see what was inside. He was fascinated with her more than any other woman and wanted to cut her open. She was fascinated with him more than any other man and wanted to drive him insane. Even after we thought we killed her, Stein said that they both were people who could not comprehend love. Like, isn't that why Medusa was so cruel to Crona.?"
Death took a moment to absorb everything that Spirit had just said and even though he felt that he could think of a deeper answer, he knew that the answer to that question was still somewhat simple. "Well Spirit..." he began. "I completely agree with you but what I think the answer is or what ever you may think the answer is or whatever anyone thinks the answer is...Sometimes...there's just two people who are meant for each other...and that's all the reason that's needed."
Spirit frowned. That wasn't Exactly the answer he was hoping for and Death knew it. But the two also knew that what was done was done and that Medusa was now on their side. spirit walked up and watched on in the mirror next to Lord Death.
"I'm sure she'll explain everything to us as time goes on." Death said trying to regain his cheerful attitude.
Spirit gave a simple "Yeah" before realizing another question he wanted to ask. "Lord death...?"
"Yes...?"
"Now that I think about it, she originally agreed to accept some kind of punishment for her mast mistakes but she said that when she was planning on betraying us..."
Death turned his head to look at Spirit.
Spirit then turned to look at him. "So what are your plans for that?" he said with a serious face.
Death just stared at him silently for a moment before turning back to face the mirror. "Well...After all off what just happened...I definitely don't want to do anything to harsh..."
Spirit nodded, understanding Death's reason.
"I do have a few things in mind that I will ask of her as compensation for everything she's done...but... I think I see everything going fine with her after all this."
Spirit nodded again, this time with a faint smile that he may not have even been aware of.
They both stared in the mirror knowing that the next part of the plan would soon be ready...
*Inside Baba Yaga Castle...
Eruka was panting as she walked back and forth. This day was turning horrible! It's bad enough that Medusa made them infiltrate the Castle, but now she's told Eruka that she's free just to tell her not to leave yet, and finally: it felt like the castle could blow at any minute!
Eruka was sweating bullets. Was this the way she was going to die? Alone in a collapsing castle were no one would ever remember her? Just the thought of that made the frog witch burst into tears. This definitely NOT how she wanted it to all end!
She leaned up against a wall and covered her ears trying to block out the noise but one another tremor shook loose, Eruka found herself crying as she slid down to the floor. "I don't wanna die, I don't wanna die, I don't wanna die, I don't wanna die!" was what she kept repeating through the muffled noises of her whines.
Suddenly...she felt something in her head. It was a voice. "Eruka..." it called out. "Eruka can you hear me?"
Eruka recognized the voice instantly. "MEDUSA?!" she cried out.
"Yes, Eruka, it's me. Listne to me, I need you to-"
Eruka cut her off before she could finish. "NO!" she cried. "I don't wanna do this anymore, lady Medusa! I wanna go home!" she continued to cry as she shouted at the voice in her head.
Medusa tried to get Eruka's attention. "Eruka just listen to-"
"Lady Medusa, PLEASE! I don't wanna die hear alone!" she continued to whine as Medusa continued to try and get her attention.
"ERUKA!" Medusa finally shouted causing the frog witch to go silent.
"Listen to me..." Medusa had a bit of irritation in her voice but she could understand what fear Eruka must have been feeling, so she calmed her tone. "I need you to find Free and Mizune and LEAVE as fast as you can!"
Eruka's eyes widened. "W-what..." she tried to stop crying. "W-w-w-why now...?"
"Trust me, Eruka, your going to be FINE. I just need you to get Free and Mizune and meet me outside the castle. Here, I'm telepathically sending you our coordinates.
Eruka was silent for a while.
"Eruka?" Medusa called out. "Eruka, are you there?"
Eruka shot up from the ground and wiped the tears from her eyes. "Y-y-yes ma'am! Right away!" she didn't now why Medusa was having them leave NOW but she didn't care. Eruka jumped at the opportunity to leave this horrible place with no questions asked. Now she just had to find Free and Mizune, and thank GOD she knew where to look.
EXTRA:
Medusa: I wasn't in this chapter again!
Maka: Would you relax! None of us were. Don't you think you can go one chapter without hogging all the spotlight?
Medusa: Of course not! I am an actress! And there for I crave the attention!
Maka: You crave attention alright..."
Medusa: Well at least it's all about ME in the next one!
Maka: No it isn't! Everyone's gonna be in it this time.
Medusa: Yes, but as long as I am on screen, I will be the apple of everyone's eyes.
Maka: Ugh...
Well this is a little ironic. In this last chapter I said not to check in for a while because i didn't know how long this one would take. And here we are LITERALLY the very next day! Okay so im gonna say that it's possible that I might REALLY get to work on this and bust out a lot of chapters, but just in case: don't bet 100% on it.
My love for my goddess, the lovely Medusa, has driven me to insanity. ALL I want is HER! And SHE is all that matters! I'm using this fan fiction as a vent for all the rage and sadness I feel. MEDUSA IS LOVE! MEDUSA IS ALL THAT MATTERS!
BTW: in the next chapter, where fucking starting the final battle...OF THIS SAGA!
