Chapter 11
Jake and Emily walked around the halls together. "Why are we ditching I thought you wanted to do better in school." He pointed out. Emily ignored his question and continued to walk. "Emily." He said with power, but he wasn't yelling. She looked at him.
"I'm avoiding Alison." She said. Jake looked at her with a confused look. "If you want to know why I'll tell you...Something happened with Spencer and I last night." Emily said.
"Oh god. Emily did you hook up with her?" Jake asked.
"No, of course not." Emily said.
"Em, its been 45 minutes. I'm tired of reading to you." Spencer said in a whiny voice. Emily rolled her eyes.
"Fine…" Emily went through her pocket and pulled out a plastic bag.
"Is that weed?" Spencer asked. Emily smiled.
"Yeah, you want to smoke it with me?" Emily asked.
"No, my parents would kill me." Spencer said.
"Fine, suit yourself." Emily said. She took out the joint paper and started rolling it. She took out her lighter and lit it.
"Em, thats bad for you." Spencer said seriously.
"For other people yes…" Emily took a puff, held it for a few seconds, then released blowing the thick white smoke out of her mouth in the shape of an circle. "But not for me. It kills cancer cells." She said. Spencer looked at her funny.
"But you don't have cancer." Emily took another puff and then looked at Spencer with saddened eyes. "Oh my god...Em...What?" She asked.
"Osteosarcoma. Its like a bone cancer. It happens to a lot to teens during their growth spurts." Emily said. Spencer touched Emily's shoulder.
"Does Ali know?" She asked.
"No, you're the only person who knows. Not even Cece or the guys know." Emily said.
"Are you gonna get it fixed?" Spencer asked.
"No...Its to expensive I can't afford it." Emily said.
"How much is it?" Spencer asked.
"About 3000 for the leg amputation, and 100,000 to remove the tumor." Emily said without a hope. Spencer stood up. She went under her bed. She got out a briefcase. She opened it and it was filled with money.
"Spencer...I can't take your families money like that." Emily said seriously.
"its not my families. I'm 18, I entered the lottery one day, long story short I got about 300,000 dollars, that I don't need, and that you do need. So here." Spencer gave it to her. "Spence...I don't know how to thank you." Emily said. Spencer smiled.
"Lets keep this between us okay?" Emily asked Spencer. "I don't want Alison to find out about this thing we did."
"Yea of course...I don't want my parents to know about this either." Spencer said. They hugged and then Emily climbed out the window.
Jake had tears in his eyes, as Emily told him. "Em, why didn't you tell anyone?" Jake asked his voice croaking.
"Because, I didn't want you guys to worry. I care way too much about you guys to make you have to worry about me." Emily said. Jake opened his arms and brought Emily in for a hug. She sniffled a little in his grasp.
"Its gonna be okay Em." Jake said.
"Jake you can't tell anyone." Emily said.
"i promise I won't." He said. "We really should go back to class." Emily released from the hug and nodded. They headed back to their P.E classes. The principal was there talking about something. Emily went to stand next to Cece and Toby. She searched the room and she saw Spencer, Alison, and Hanna standing next to each other. Hanna looked pissed off as hell. Emily wasn't too concerned though.
"Okay, so you will be having a new P.E teacher. Mrs. Bravo is in the hospital. She'll be on leave for the remainder of the year. We have just hired a new P.E teacher. Her name is Ms. Marin." He said. At this Emily and all of her friends looked up. In walked Addison.
"I swear to fucking god…" Toby muttered.
"This bitch just won't quit." Cece said slapping her forehead and shaking her head. The principal walked out, leaving Addison to teach the class.
"Okay I'm going to be you're new teacher." She said with a bubbly smile. "So today its free gym. So do whatever you want." She said. Everyone went into their own groups. Emily was just in shock.
"We can deal with this Em." Cece said. She grabbed Emily's hand and dragged her to the corner of the room. Jake, Cece, and Toby were all just talking about stuff and Emily never took her eyes off of Addison, a spawn of the devil.
"Emily will you come here please?" Addison asked.
"No." She simply said. Spencer, Alison, and Hanna were just waiting to see what would happen.
"Now please." She said. Emily rolled her eyes, and stood and walked over to her.
"What do you want?" She asked.
"I want to teach you how to shoot a basketball." Emily rolled her eyes once again. "I'm not taking no for an answer." Addison whispered. Emily agreed. "Okay lets get those legs in position." Addison said. She bended down and ran her legs down Emily's legs sensually. Emily was filled with anger but ignored. Alison walked over to the two.
"Emily knows how to shoot a basketball. Now get your hands off of her or I'll report you for sexual abuse. And I'm pretty sure they'll believe me considering the time you spent in prison." Alison said threateningly. Addison immediately backed away and went to do something else.
"You okay?" Alison asked. Emily smiled.
"Yeah, I'm fine. Thanks." Emily leaned in and kissed Alison on the cheek. Then she returned to Jake, Toby, and Cece.
"Can I talk to you alone Ali?" Hanna asked.
"Sure, whats going on?" Alison asked. Hanna gave her some earphones and played the recording. Alison was listening.
Spencer walked over to Emily. "Can we talk?" She asked.
"Sure." Emily said they walked into the locker room. They made sure no one was in there. They sat down on the benches across from each other.
"So are you okay with this whole Addison thing?" Spencer asked, obviously concerned.
"No of course not. But I'll be fine." Emily said with a smile. Spencer smiled.
"So you're going to need a parental signature for the surgery." Spencer said.
"My parents are dead." Emily said.
"My mom could adopt you." Spencer said. Emily looked at her surprisingly.
"Really?" Emily asked. Spencer nodded.
Alison had tears in her eyes as she finished listening to the recording. She had just seen Spencer and Emily walk into the locker room together. "I can't believe this." Alison said.
"I'm sorry Ali…" Hanna said.
Alison went into the locker room and hid to listen to what they were saying.
"So we still aren't going to tell Alison right?" Spencer asked.
"No, it would kill her if she found out. Lets keep this between us." Emily said. Alison could see them perfectly. Spencer reached over and held Emily's hand in her own.
"I'm here for you Emily." She said looking into Emily's brown orbs. Emily smiled. They stood up and hugged each other. Alison quickly ran out of the locker room, and back into the gym in tears. Emily and Spencer exited the locker room. Emily saw Alison crying and went over to her.
"Hey babe what's wrong?" Emily asked.
"Whats wrong?! You're what's wrong with me! You cheated on me!" Alison yelled. Everyone in the gym stopped what they were doing and listened to the argument.
"Shit…" Jake muttered.
"I didn't cheat on you Ali!" Emily said in almost disbelief. Alison rolled her eyes.
"Then what is it you don't want me to find out about?!" She yelled, tears streaming out of her eyes.
"What are you talking about?" Emily asked.
"I heard a recording of you and Spencer in her bedroom yesterday, and I saw you two together in the locker room!" Alison yelled.
"Ali that isn't what you think it is." Emily said.
"Oh yes it is! You cheated on me Emily with her!" Alison accused Emily. "I thought you were different! But you're just the same washed up douchebag everyone thinks you are!" Alison yelled. Emily was hurt. Emily now had tears in her eyes. "Douchebag!" Alison yelled.
"I have cancer!" Emily yelled. Alison gasped. "Thats what I didn't want you to find out about! Spencer gave me 300 grand to fix it! Okay Alison! I have cancer! They are gonna have to chop my leg off to save me life!" Emily yelled. Emily quickly stormed out of the gym. Cece followed her.
Hanna shook her head in shame. "Don't you see Hanna? Emily isn't a bad person. She's a good person, with struggles that no one she knows has to deal with." Spencer said in anger.
"Spence I'm sorry." Hanna said.
"It isn't me you have to apologize too." Spencer said she walked off.
"Emily wait up!" Cece yelled. Emily ran as fast as her legs would take her. Cece caught up with her and grabbed her by the shoulder.
"Cece, I really just need to go home." Emily said.
"Emily, I am you're home, Okay? Talk to me." Cece said looking hopefully into Emily's eyes.
"Spencer gave me the money I needed to get rid of it." Emily said honestly. Cece brought Emily in for a hug. Emily started crying. Cece rubbed her back.
"Emily, I'm so sorry…I would trade places with you if I could." Cece said. At this Emily started sobbing even more.
"I don't deserve a friend like you Cece." She said, sobbing uncontrollably. Jake and Toby got up and walked out of the gymnasium door.
"This sucks." Toby said.
"Yep." Jake said. "Do you think Emily and Ali are gonna break up?" Jake asked.
"I'm not sure. But I kinda want them to now. She embarrassed Emily in front of the whole class. Made her cry, and outed her secret thats going to spread like wild flies. Plus she called her a douchebag." Toby said as they continued to walk down the halls looking for Cece and Emily.
"Oh come on, that was only because Alison thought she cheated on her." Jake pointed out.
"That may be true, but Alison still did that stuff." Toby said. Jake rolled his eyes.
"Toby, Emily is gonna need someone throughout this process." He said seriously.
"We're gonna be there for her. Just like we have for her whole life." Toby fired back.
"She's gonna need someone to have sex with Toby...Last time I checked you and I aren't eligible for that! And neither is Cece. She's gonna need someone to cuddle with at night in the hospital with her! Lets face it man, we aren't capable of that, and Cece can only do so much! Emily needs Alison!" Jake yelled. Toby nodded.
"Okay man, you're right. Lets just go find them." Toby said. They walked down the hall in silence.
"Spence...just tell me whats going on." Alison said.
"I have Emily a lot of money to pay for her surgery that she's gonna need, and the aftercare and rehabilitation for it." Spencer said.
"Why?" Alison asked.
"Because...you love her. And she loves you. And I haven't seen you this happy in a while. And I can see that you two are soul mates." Spencer said.
"How do you know?" Alison asked.
Spencer smiled. "You two talk like best friends, flirt like first loves, and protect each other like siblings. You guys are soul mates, and the least I could do id give this world a pair of soulmates." Spencer said. She stood up from the bench and started walking off. She turned back to Alison. "And by the way...Emily's pretty hot. Hot enough to maybe even make me sleep with her. But I would never do it, and it sucks that you think I would." Spencer said before walking off.
It was super hard to write this chapter, but this is exactly how Skylar wrote it so the only thing I'm in charge of is spell checking and grammar stuff, it isn't really my place to add or take anything out of this story. Hope you guys liked it, and let me know how you reacted emotionally to Emily's cancer.
