Chapter 44- The Tables Turn

I stood up from where I had been sitting and walked back out of the forest. I looked up at the sky and saw storm clouds start to roll in. They were moving quicker than usual, as if some Pegasi were bringing them in. My heart sank as I heard the same noise I had heard when my house was destroyed. I looked around for the source and spotted the three Pegasi half concealed in black flames. I watched in horror as they attacked houses seemingly at random. Ponies ran out of the buildings screaming. Explosions decimated houses, fires erupting everywhere the Pegasi touched. The Pegasi flew around very quickly, seeming to have no pattern as to where they would strike next.
Eventually I couldn't stand back and watch it happen anymore. I ran into town and activated my Mangekyou Rinnegan. I watched the three figures, trying to figure out where they would strike next. Finally I saw one of them start to fly toward another house. I ran and jumped. I got above him and brought my leg down with a fierce kick, but it phased right through him. My eyes widened in shock. He proceeded to destroy the house. Two adult ponies and three fillies ran out screaming. I landed on the ground and watched with a sense of helplessness as the Pegasi sent more houses up in flames. I sank to my knees as this happened, hearing the cries and screams of the ponies around me.
All of a sudden one of them started flying directly toward me. I looked up at him and watched as he flew ever closer. I stood up and jumped as he impacted the place where I had been just seconds before. I looked down in time to see him fly at me again, just as he hit me. I felt the tremendous force crash into my stomach, knocking the wind out of me and sending me to the ground. I lay there for a second trying to catch my breath. I looked up to see all three of them flying in three separate arcs, planning to converge on me and finish me off. They went into their full-flame forms and got ever closer. I was still on the ground panting after the first one had hit me. I closed my eyes, expecting the worst.
They were about to collide with me when I heard: "Water Style: Water Wall!" I opened my eyes to see a wall of water burst from the ground in front of me. I looked over and saw Itachi and the others standing about twenty feet from me. "Sorry we're late, did we miss anything?" Rainbow Dash asked. "No not much." I replied. Itachi walked over and helped me up as the three Pegasi flew away from the water wall. They flew up high and looked at us. "Thank goodness you showed up when you did. You really saved my ass." I said. "You owe me one." He said. "That sounds fair. Anyway, how are we going to defeat them?" I asked. "Well, from what it looks like physical attacks won't work on them, but jutsu will." He said. I nodded. Opening the Gates would be pointless then. I looked up at the three Pegasi. They seemed to be watching us; no doubt to see what we were planning to do next.
I looked at Itachi. "I don't think our Fire Style is going to work on them, which means we'll have to resort to Water Style." I said. "I'll resort to Water Style, but you can use all five Chakra natures, thanks to your Mangekyou Rinnegan." He said. "But my second Chakra nature was water, so I should be more skilled with that than the other ones." I said. "Hmm, yes, that's true. However, you rarely use Water Style, are you sure you can pull of a high-powered jutsu?" He asked. "I can perform the Water Dragon Jutsu." I said. "Right, then we'll both use one." He said. I nodded and we looked at the Pegasi who were still watching us. Itachi and I weaves hand signs at the same time. The Pegasi saw this and immediately started to fly at us. They we're flying too fast for us to have time to finish the jutsu. We stopped weaving hand signs and jumped to avoid their attack. Rainbow Dash then grabbed us both and pulled us out of the way of their second attack. "Thank you Rainbow Dash." I said. She nodded. We looked back at the Pegasi and saw them veering around for another attack. "We need to slow them down somehow." I said. "I could buy you some time." Rarity said stepping forward. "You will?" I asked. She nodded. "Alright, go ahead then." I said. She nodded and walked in front of us. Itachi and I began weaving hand signs again. Rarity readied herself as the Pegasi got closer and closer. They were within five feet of her when she sent them flying backward. They flew quite some distance before managing to right themselves. Itachi and I finished weaving hand signs. Rarity's plan had worked. "Water Style: Double Water Dragon Jutsu!" Itachi and I said. The two dragons burst from the ground in front of us and wound themselves around each other. The Pegasi had been flying toward us again, and their eyes widened as they saw the two dragons. Our dragons roared and flew at the Pegasi and bit down on them, swallowing them in their mouths and bringing them crashing to the ground. The third one continued to fly toward Rarity. He was about to strike her when she raised her hoof and smashed him into the ground. Itachi and I stood there in amazement. "How did you do that?" I asked. She looked at me and smiled. "I have my ways." She said. We all laughed. After everyone stopped laughing, we realized just how much damage had been done. Fires were burning everywhere one looked. Houses were now nothing more than piles of rubble. Ponies, now homeless, were gathered in large groups. "What are we going to do?" Fluttershy asked. "Twilight, do you know any spells of restoration?" I asked. "Sorry, but I don't." She said. We looked at each other in concern. "I guess we'll have to repair the houses one by one." I said. "Do you have any idea how long that would take? Besides, what are we going to do with the ponies who have no homes?" Itachi asked. "What if we construct a shelter for them?" Twilight asked. "That's not a bad idea Twilight." I said. She nodded. As the others discussed on where to put it and how big it should be, Rarity walked over to me. "Tid, may I speak with you for a second?" She asked. "Of course." I replied. We turned to walk away and I glanced over my shoulder, making sure no one would notice our absence.
We walked some distance away before Rarity finally stopped and looked at me. "Tid, I've been thinking about something lately." She said. "Which is?" She asked. "It's about our relationship." She said. My eyes widened. "Our relationship? What about it?" I asked. She hesitated, biting her lip. "Are you certain we're going to get married?" She asked. "What kind of question is that? Of course we're going to get married! What would make you think otherwise?" I asked. "Well, it's just that this war has been keeping us separated, and quite frankly I've grown quite restless." She said. "Rarity, I promise I'll end this war as soon as possible so we can get married." I said putting my hand on her shoulder. She smiled. "I know you will darling. I have complete faith in your capabilities. And remember, you can't go back on your other promise either." She said. "My other promise? You mean the one where I won't die until we get married?" I asked. She nodded. She walked forward and rested her head on my chest. "Oh darling, I simply cannot wait until this war is over. But I will, for our love is far stronger than any force in all of Equestria." She said. I smiled and wrapped my arms around her. "I know. Don't worry, I'll keep my promise. With your help, Nightmare Moon doesn't stand a chance." I said. She smiled and closed her eyes, enjoying the moment of pure ecstasy we were both sharing. At that moment we heard Rainbow Dash calling us. "Hey you two, we need to get started on the shelter." She said. Rarity and I both sighed and reluctantly let go of each other. Rainbow Dash flew back to the others. "Come on, this war won't end itself." I said. Rarity nodded and we rejoined the others.

Me: Well, now Ponyville's destroyed and almost everyone is homeless. Seems like Tid's got his work cut out for him.
