Chapter 54- Confusion and the Mundane
Me: I'm excited for this chapter.
Twilight: Aren't you excited about every chapter?
Me: No, not all of them. I do not own the rights to Naruto Shippuden or My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.

I continued running until I couldn't run any more. I bent over, panting, tears still flowing down my face. I sank to my knees and sobbed. The wind blew around me, raising the hairs on the back of my neck. I continued to sob for time I couldn't hope to measure. Eventually the wind dried my eyes and I was able to cry no longer. I sat there on my knees, my eyes still shut tightly. I heard the leaves shake in the wind. Why? I thought. Why do terrible things always happen to me? Can't I ever be happy? I opened my eyes to see where I was. The ground beneath me was cold and cracked, barren of life, save for a few weeds here and there. I looked around and saw a path with trees on either side. The sky above was gray with storm clouds. I rose to my feet. I turned around to face the direction I had come from. For a moment, I considered going back. I shook my head. I couldn't go back. Not after that. I turned around and started walking away. I knew not where to go, but I decided anywhere was better than Ponyville.
I walked for a few hours, thinking about my life. The area about me seemed to represent my mood. The trees where all barren of leaves, leaving only the crisp bark. Plants seemed nonexistent; only a few dead shrubs sprouting from the ground here and there. The sky constantly threatened rain. I sighed as I walked. "So much for having a happy life." I said. As I continued to wallow in my self-pity I felt the cold rain start to fall upon me. Not long after it began to pour, but not so much as to reduce visibility. All of a sudden there was a bright flash of light as Twilight Sparkle appeared. "There you are!" She said. "What are you doing here?" I asked. "I've been looking for you." She said. "Why? Why would you be looking for me? You don't need me." I said. "Look, Spike told me something had happened, and that you ran off in this direction, so I thought I'd come and find you so I could find out what happened." She said. I stopped walking. "You want to know what happened?" I asked. She nodded. I hesitated. She walked over to me and put her hoof on my shoulder. "It's okay, you can tell me anything." She said. I sighed. "I guess I could tell you." I said. She smiled sympathetically. "You see, Rarity broke up with me." I said. "What?!" I nodded. "Why would she do that? You two seemed to be so happy together." She said. "I don't understand it either, but she left me for Spike." I said. "Spike? This doesn't make any sense. Come on." She said. "Where are we going?" I asked. "We're going to sort this whole thing out."
Twilight teleported us to her house. "What are we doing here?" I asked. "We're going to talk to Spike first." She said opening the door. We walked inside and Twilight went to fetch Spike. My heart was still heavy from the events that had transpired just hours ago. She returned a few moments later with Spike. His expression was one of resentment. I subconsciously clenched my fist. "Now you two, I want to hear both sides of the story. Tid, you go first." She said when we had all taken a seat around the table. "Alright. I suppose I should start with what happened beforehand. I had woken up before Rarity and went for a stroll through the Everfree Forest. I noticed some strange weather patterns, as well as sporadic fluctuations in the power levels of Ponyville. A few seconds later Rarity and Spike showed up, and Rarity told me that it was over between us. After that, life was a blur until I found myself running with tears streaming down my face." I said. "Hmm, alright. Spike, your turn." She said. "Well you see Twilight, what had happened was-" At that moment there was a low boom followed by a tremor that shook the ground. "What was that?" Twilight asked. "That sounded like it came from Rarity's house." I said. We looked at each other and Twilight teleported us to Rarity's house.
My eyes widened at what I saw. Half of Rarity's house had been blown to smithereens. A trail of smoke floated into the air. Small fires burned outside of the house. "What happened?" I asked. Nobody had the answer. We ran forward but stopped when we saw two silhouettes in the smoke. Eventually the smoke cleared and we saw two Rarity's standing there, facing each other in a stare down. "What's going on here?" I asked. They both looked at me. "Oh, Tid, I'm so glad you're here!" One said. The other said nothing. "What happened?" Twilight asked. "This imposter destroyed my precious boutique!" The one said. "Imposter? Hardly." The other said. Spike was looking between the two Rarity's. "Wait, which one is the real one?" He asked. "Why me of course!" The one said. "Oh Rarity!" He said running over to her. "Spike what are you doing?" She asked. "Well, I came over to comfort you; it's my job as your boyfriend." He replied. "Boyfriend? Spike, we've been over this, Tid and I are in love. I consider you one of my own children. You are not my boyfriend." She said. "What? Then, what's going on?" He asked in confusion. The other Rarity laughed. "Man you're stupid!" She said. "Don't tell me... You're the Anti-Rarity?" I asked. "Yep, that's me! Although, I usually prefer my name, Mundane." She said grinning. "Mundane... Are you serious?" I asked. They couldn't have named her anything more obvious. "Whatever, it doesn't matter. I was sent here to kill Rarity, and I might as well take out that little dragon too." She said. A purple aura surrounded her horn and Spike rose high into the air. "Don't you lay a finger on my Spikey-Wikey!" Rarity said. A blue aura surrounded her horn and spires of crystals shot from the ground around Mundane. In a split second Mundane was behind Rarity. "Sorry, but it's gonna take more effort than that to defeat me!" She said. My eyes widened and she punched Rarity in the face. Rarity was sent flying before landing hard on the ground. I clenched my fist in anger. Subconsciously I surrounded my body with flames. "Now it's time I finished the two of you." Mundane said.
Rarity struggled to rise to her feet. Mundane surrounded her horn with a purple aura and a small sphere of energy formed in front of her. I watched as tiny particles of energy started to absorb into the sphere, increasing its size and brightness. She tossed Spike onto Rarity, causing her to collapse once more. In this state I wasn't sure Rarity could even use Almighty Push. "Now die!" Mundane said. The beam fired and sped toward them. On impulse I shot forward and blocked the beam's path. My flame guard took the beam and dissipated. I reignited my body, this time out of rage. "What?!" Mundane said in shock. "If you so much as think about hurting Rarity or Spike..." I said, my increasing rage causing me to pause at the thought of Rarity being harmed. "I'll fucking kill you!" I finished. "Hah! What could you do to me?" She asked. "I've only shown you so little of my power." I said. "Then bring it on!" She said. She charged at me as quickly as she had done before. I reached out and quickly grabbed her throat. Her eyes widened as I lifted her off of the ground. I gripped her throat tightly, wondering if I should just choke her to death. No, I was to furious for that. I threw her toward the burning rubble. She landed just in front of it and sat up. I walked toward her slowly, my rage intensifying the flames that surrounded my body. She watched in horror as I approached. With every step I took the grass beneath my feet burned, leaving a black footstep. I eventually reached her. "I'm going to destroy you." I said. She gulped as I reached for her. I grabbed her by the neck and tossed her into the air. I activated the First Gate and jumped into the air. I kicked her repeatedly, going even higher in the air than normal. "Third Gate: Gate of Life, open!" I shouted. I wrapped her up in my chains and spun rapidly. I pile-drived her into the ground. I used my chains to throw her high into the air. "Fifth Gate: Gate of Closing, open!" I shouted. I was really enjoying destroying the source of my hatred. I jumped and drove her into ground with enough force to cause the ground around me to shatter. I stood up and watched with a wicked grin as Mundane struggled to move, coughing up blood. "Don't worry, it's almost over." I said. I grabbed her and threw her into the air once more. I jumped and in an instant I was above her. I drew my arm back and punched with incredible force. She crashed into the ground, bouncing up a little ways due to the sheer force of the impact. I wrapped her in my chains in the short time she was off of the ground. "Seventh Gate: Gate of Shock, open!" I shouted. I grabbed the chain with my left hand and pulled hard. She rose into the air at incredible speeds. "Hidden Lotus!" I shouted. I kicked here and hit her with my open palm at the same time, sending her crashing into the ground once more. I landed and wiped the sweat off of my forehead. It was over.
I turned to face the others, whose mouths were hanging open. "Sorry, guess I got a little carried away." I said. "Tid, that was incredible!" Twilight said. "I'll say. The way you defended me like that, simply marvelous. It almost made me fall in love with you all over again!" Rarity said. I smiled and walked over to her. "You know I'd do anything to protect you. I know I don't say it very often, but I love you Rarity." I said. "I love you too, Tid." She said. I hugged her and held her in my arms. After what I had been through, I didn't want this moment to ever end. "Hey Rarity, what are you going to do about your house?" "Oh, right, that." She said blushing slightly. "Don't worry; I'll help you fix it." I said. "Oh darling I couldn't ask you to do something like that for me." She said. "I insist, after all, you were kind enough to take me into your home." I said. "I'll help too. I've been working on a restoration spell recently that I'd like to try out." Twilight said. I turned to her. "Alright, go ahead then." I said. She nodded and walked toward the ruined house. She stopped and closed her eyes. She concentrated and a purple aura surrounded her horn and the rubble began to float into the air. It flew around the house so fast it created a whirlwind that encompassed the entire house. Eventually it stopped and Rarity and I looked at the house in awe. It had been completely restored to pristine condition. Twilight collapsed and we rushed over to her. "Are you alright?" Spike asked. "Yes, I'm fine, I just used a lot of energy, that's all." She said smiling. I helped her up and threw her arm around my shoulder. "Come on, I'll help you get home." I said. "Thank you." She said.
After we dropped Twilight off at her house, Rarity and I walked back to her house. We walked up the stairs, as it was already late. "I'm sorry we couldn't train today." I said. "Oh that's quite alright, you saved my life today." She said. I smiled. We were so tired I didn't even bother to walk to the spare bedroom, nor did Rarity question it. We climbed in bed and closed our eyes, falling asleep with our arms around each other.
