(This story will now be written in a third person viewpoint until further notice)

Rarity lay on top of the body of her now deceased fiance, sobbing. He had sacrificed his life to end the war. The others began to cry as well, saddened by the loss of their dear friend. Everyone was crying, even Itachi Uchiha, whom rarely showed tears. The sky darkened as storm clouds began to roll in and rain began to fall upon them as they mourned. Rarity was by far the most upset; having lost the only one she had truly loved. She wept over his body. Her despair had started to grow inside of her as soon as Tid had announced he was going to use the Eight Gate. Her sadness now exploded out of her in the form of tears. A few seconds later there was a bright flash of light as Princess Celestia appeared; Spike accompanying her. She looked upon them at first with glee, but then she noticed their expressions.

"Whoa, what happened here?" Spike asked. "Twilight, is that-?" Celestia asked. Without looking up, Twilight nodded. "I see. So he gave his life for Equestria. He was a true hero." "Wait, so that's-?" Spike asked pointing to the body that lay motionless on the ground. "Yes, that's Tid." Twilight replied, her voice shaky. Spike then noticed Rarity weeping. He walked up to her, placing his hand on her shoulder. "It's okay, Rarity." He said. "Okay?! It most certainly is not okay! Tid is dead!" She said looking at him furiously. He flinched. "I'm sorry." He said. "You'd better be sorry!" She said. She returned her attention back to Tid. She couldn't handle the fact that he was dead. He had been the only one she had truly loved. Celestia walked up to her. "Rarity, Tid was a great man. He fought for the ones he loved, and gave his life for the sake of Equestria. I understand you loved him, and that you are devastated by his death. I would like you to know that he will be given the funeral of a highly respected member of the royal family. All of Equestria will be in attendance." She said. "I'm sorry, but I won't be attending. I just need some time to myself." Rarity said. Twilight then walked up to her. "Rarity, I understand how you feel, but you can't let his death keep you down forever." She said. "And why not? I highly doubt I'll find anything to keep my mind off of him, and I'm certain I'll never be replace him. Tid had given me true happiness, happiness that is now gone forever. You can't just expect me to forget about all that." She said. "No, that's not what I'd expect at all. All I'm saying is that you can't let his death ruin her life. What about your family, or your career? You can't just throw that all away." She said. Rarity looked at Twilight. "Twilight, all of my life I've been searching for the meaning to my life, the purpose of my existence. I had finally found it when I met Tid. He gave me true happiness. Quite honestly, I'm almost insulted you would say such things." She said. "Rarity, please you have to understand we're only trying to make you see reason. Tid's sacrifice was necessary for Equestria to stand. Please understand this." Celestia said. "So you are saying he was just a sacrificial pawn in your game of chess? Is that how you saw him?" Rarity asked standing up. Rarity was furious at this point. She had thought her friends would have been more supportive. "Rarity, please calm down. That's not how I viewed him at all." Celestia said. "I've had just about enough of this nonsense. I'm going home." Rarity said. She then teleported home.

Rarity lay in her bed, staring out of the window. The hour was late and she was exhausted, but sleep eluded her. The events that had transpired earlier played over and over in her head. She lay there in silence, staring out of the window. She watched the rain drip down the glass; occasionally seeing images in the water. She sighed. She still couldn't believe that Tid was dead. It just didn't seem real; like it was some sort of horrible nightmare. Unfortunately she knew she was trapped in the unmistakable reality. About now the word would be getting out that the war had been won, and ponies would start cheering. Even though the war was won, she felt like she had lost everything she had held dear. The idea would've seemed silly to her a few years ago, that one man could be the source of all her happiness, but now it was an indisputable truth. She felt lost without him; like a piece of her soul had died. She closed her eyes, hoping to snatch some sleep from the long, cold, night. Fortunately this time she was able to fall under an exhaustion brought sleep.

She awoke the next morning from the rays of sun that shone upon her face, streaming in like golden streamers from the window. She reluctantly opened her eyes. She sat up and groggily used the back of her hoof to wipe the sleep from her eyes. She quickly glanced over to her oak nightstand, standing wedged between her bed and the wall. It was finely polished, as she liked to keep it. Her alarm clock stood upon its gleaming surface. She hadn't set it last night; as she saw no reason to. Her eyes wandered to a small shining object that sat just before it. Her eyes widened as she realized it was the ring Tid had proposed to her with. She used her magic to bring it over to her, where she could examine it more closely. It caught the sunlight and it began to send rays of multiple colors throughout the room. They were the colors of the rainbow; an awe inspiring display that now played out before her. The gold in the center shone brightly like a star. It basked her entire body in a golden light. She used her magic to put the ring on her horn; simultaneously bringing the display to an abrupt end. She sighed. She mustered enough strength to pull herself out of her bed.

She walked to the bathroom and turned on the shower. The steam from the hot water rose and filled the room quickly. She cracked the bathroom door slightly to let out some of the steam. She turned to the mirror. Her hair was askew, several individual hairs sticking up from the rest of it. Any other day and she might have tried to fix it, even before her shower, but not today. She didn't feel the need anymore. She sighed and climbed into the shower. She stood there, letting the water drip off her body. She watched it as it went down the drain. She reluctantly cleansed her body. The action seemed so rote to her. She had done it thousands of times before, and every time was the same. She hadn't realized how rote it was until that point, but now that her mind was full of sorrow she focused on it, on the simplest of details.

She turned off the water and stepped out onto the carpeted floor, grabbing a towel from the cupboard. She dried herself and opened the already ajar door; letting forth a burst of steam. She walked into her room, searching for the dress she had worn so many times before. She found it resting at the foot of her bed. It was remarkable it had not fallen onto the ground in the middle of the night. She stared at it for a moment. She had made the dress based on a design she had used from Tid's cloak. She had sworn to wear it every day. Tid's death made her not want to take it off even more. She donned the dress, draping it over her body. She sighed another time. What was she to do now? She hadn't the energy to make dresses; anything she could make at that point would be sub-par anyway. She sat on her bed, laying back lazily. "Today shall be a lazy day." She said to herself.

A few hours later there was a knock on the door. She wondered who it could've been. Probably one of her friends, coming to convince her to let go of Tid. She sighed and got out of bed. She walked down the stairs and to the door. She sighed before opening it. When she did she was surprised to see Vinyl standing on the other side. "Vinyl? What are you doing here?" Rarity "I'm here to talk to you." Vinyl replied. "Oh, alright. Come on in." She said. Vinyl nodded and walked inside. Rarity shut the door behind her and joined her in the kitchen.

Vinyl sat at the table; Rarity took a seat opposite her. "Now, as I understand it, you've been feeling depressed since yesterday." She said. Rarity said nothing. Vinyl continued. "I know nothing I say is likely to cheer you up, but I might as well give it a try. Rarity, I think I may understand how you are feeling." "How could you possibly understand how I'm feeling? Last time I checked, you're husband leaving you isn't quite the same as your fiance dying." Rarity said hotly. "In case you didn't know, Robert had also died for a short period." Vinyl said. "Is that so? Well, at least you got your lover back. There's no hope for Tid's revival. Only one person could restore life to the dead, and that was Tid. I should know, he brought me back to life." Rarity said. Vinyl sat back in her chair, crossing her legs. "I wouldn't be too certain. At first, I thought there was no hope for Robert's revival, but now he's alive and healthy. I'd like to think the same is going to happen with Tid somehow." Vinyl said. "Oh be realistic, will you? The dead don't just come back to life, Vinyl. There has to be a reason for Robert's revival." Rarity said. "Rarity, let me ask you something. Do you believe in miracles?" She asked. Rarity hesitated. "I suppose so. It was a miracle that Tid came into my life; so I suppose there really are miracles." She said finally. "Then you have to have some hope that Tid will be revived, right?" She asked leaning forward. Rarity shook her head. "There's no hope for the impossible, Vinyl. No matter how much I'd like it to happen, I just don't think Tid is ever going to come back to me." She said. Vinyl sighed.

They sat in silence for a while, neither so much as making a sound. Then a thought occurred to Rarity. Tid had said he had expended a lot of Chakra before the fight against Nightmare Moon, which ultimately cost him his life. That meant that whomever had caused him to use so much Chakra was ultimately responsible for his death. She verbalized this thought to Vinyl. Vinyl rubbed the back of her head nervously. "Um, you see, about that... Robert, I guess, was... Um, I guess you could say he was responsible." She said. Rarity's rage boiled up inside of her. "What?!" She asked furiously. Vinyl raised her hands in front of her in a defensive gesture. "He didn't do it on purpose!" She said in his defense. "Of course not!" Rarity said exasperatedly. "What's that supposed to mean?" She asked. "You know damn well what it means!" Rarity said stabbing her hoof at Vinyl. Vinyl stood up and slammed her hands on the table. "I will not sit here and let you insult my husband!" She said. She had come to cheer her up, but that had failed. Rarity stood too, trying her best not to leap over the table. "Then I'd suggest you leave! I don't ever want to see you near this place again!" She said. "Fine!" Vinyl said. With that she stormed out of the kitchen and then out of the house, slamming the door behind her.

Later that night, sleep eluded her once more. She tossed and turned in her bed, seemingly unable to get comfortable. Eventually she gave up. She got out of bed, donning her dress again, and headed outside for some fresh air. She walked through the park that Tid and her had walked through so many times before. They always had dates at night, which she found to be romantic. She took a deep breath in and let it out, feeling the air in her lungs. It didn't make her feel any better. She continued walking until she came to a spot on the riverbank where they had spent so many moments together. She remembered being wrapped in his arms, cuddling next to him with a smile upon her face.

She walked over to it and sat down. She stared out over the moonlit water. The water was a smooth as glass; perfectly smooth and peaceful. She could see the reflection of the full moon in it. The sky was clear; save for a few stray clouds that looked black in the night sky. She looked up at them, wondering how they felt, if they felt at all. Did they have emotions? Probably not; they were clouds after all. At that moment there was a sound like thunder and the sky began to darken with many more clouds. Was it about to rain? As she continued to watch, the clouds filled the sky, eliminating all of the moon's rays. Then, the clouds began to make their way toward the earth, a long winding wisp leading from the base.

The wisp reached the ground and began to pool in front of her. She continued to stare in amazement as the clouds began to take the form of three bodies, made completely of the dark substance. "Hello Rarity." One of them said. She flinched in surprise. "How do you know my name?" She asked trying to maintain her cool. "We've been observing you for quite some time now." Another of them replied. "Yes, and we know of the feelings you have inside." Said a third. "What on earth are you talking about?" She asked. The first laughed. "You cannot hid things from us, Rarity. We know you have feelings of sorrow and hatred within you." It said. "Hatred? I assure you I feel nothing of the sort! While there may be sorrow in my heart, I don't hate anyone for it." She said sternly. "Is that so? Well, we wouldn't be too sure of that. You do blame someone, don't you? Your so-called friends, perhaps?" The second asked. "My friends? Why on earth would I have hatred toward them? They haven't wronged me." She said. "Are you sure? There would be someone we know who would disagree with you. Maybe you know, deep down, they have betrayed your trust, but don't want to admit it." The third said.

Then there was a fourth voice, one that made her gasp. It was a voice she never thought she'd hear again. "Rarity, what you don't realize is... They have betrayed us. They tore us apart." He said. She watched in shock as the smoke parted to reveal a figure that took the very familiar shape that stood before her. It was none other than Tid himself. "How? How are you here? I watched you die, right before my eyes! You died in my arms!" She said incredulously. "Rarity, I am dead, yes, but I've been allowed to tell you something, my precious gem." He said. Her eyes widened when she heard this. Nopony knew of his nickname for her, as he didn't use it in public. He only used it when he whispered sweet things to her while they cuddled together. Her eyes began to tear up. "So it is you, Tid." She said. He nodded, smiling. "Rarity, I don't have much time so I must speak quickly. The ones you call your friends never trusted me, nor did they approve of our relationship. Celestia thought I was a threat to the safety of Equestria. They had befriended me only to lower my suspicions of them. All of these things were revealed to me after my death. I saw the truth, and I felt it necessary to show them to you too." He said. "No, that can't be right. They would never distrust you!" She said. "Rarity, please believe me when I tell you this. Why do you think no one stopped me from using the Eighth Gate? Instead, they held you back from me. I believe this was their true intention all along. They needed to get rid of me, so they sacrificed me for the good of their people. Don't you see? They are the ones that tore us apart." He said.

She pondered this new information. Here was Tid, telling her that her friends never trusted him, nor approved of their relationship. Who did she believe? The love of her life or her friends who had been there for her for years? She closed her eyes and came to a decision. "I believe you." She said. He smiled. "Great. Won't you take my hand and join me? I could give you the power you need to take revenge on the ones you called friends... The ones, who tore us apart." He said reaching out his hand. She hesitated. Just take his hand, you'll find the power you need to reach your goal. She thought. She took his hand and he pulled her into a hug. She hugged him back. As she did so she felt something strange. It was as if something in her body was changing. She looked down at her body and saw that she was in fact transforming. Her body had changed from white to black. Her horn grew longer, as well as her mane. She also felt herself grow taller. Once all of this happened he let go of her. "Thank you for avenging me, my sweet. I have to go, but we will meet again. Goodbye." She watched as he faded into the clouds. The clouds then began to retreat back into the clouds above, disappearing just as quickly as they had come. "Goodbye, Tid."
