Chapter 15: Shadow plus Trouble
Jen fiddled with her fingers nervously. "Nightwing, I saw and talked to Shadow."
Nightwing couldn't believe his ears, he race towards her. "Can you please tell me what happened?!"
"Yes, everybody get comfortable it's a long story." They did what Jen said and sat down. "It happened like this…
Jen wonder through the woods, her thoughts drifting away to a certain boy.
'I wonder if he likes me? Oh Scar, I love you.'
Then a twig snapped. Jen escaped her thoughts and looked around. She took out a few knives in defense. Jen slowly took a few steps, and a tiger-like creature jumped out; roaring at her. Jen stood very still and showed no fear. The cat looked like a tiger except for the two extra heads and the spiked tail. The three headed tiger just stared at her, one of the heads licked its lips. Then it pounced, and Jen made a run for it.
'Don't look back. Don't look back.' She looked back and saw the three-headed tiger catching up. It tried to claw her, but it misses her by a centimeter. 'I need to lose this cat.'
The air feels like it's stabbing her in the face, making her want to slow down. But that's not going to happen; she preferred the wind over claws. Than Jen looked up and saw a wall, she skidded to a stop.
"Son of a Bitch!" she yelled and tried to find a way up.
Jen heard panting, then growling, then licking of lips. She backed away from it but hit the wall. The tiger swung his claws and hit Jen's leg. She screamed in pain, Jen crouched down and hugged her leg.
"My leg," she whimpered. The tiger came closer, drool dripping from its mouths. 'It can't end like this.'
Jen's eyes closed, than she heard something hit the ground. She opened her eyes and saw and arrow right in front of her. The tiger stared at the arrow, and it growled and turned around to face a figure. It pounced on the figure, but the person moved out of the way. The figure took out a bow and smacked the tiger across the face, then did a flip over the creature.
"Are you ok?" asked the figure.
"Yeah," Jen said, taking a closer look at the figure.
The figure was wearing all black, had raven black hair, and a domino mask covered the eyes. Jen saw the figure turn to the tiger and slap one head with the bow while punching a different head in the eye. Jen stared at her leg and saw how deep the cut was, and it continued to bleed. Jen felt her eyes getting heavy and darkness took over her.
Jen slowly open her eyes; she felt something touching her leg. She quickly sat up to see what was going on.
"Sorry did I wake you up?" asked a voice.
"Shadow?" asked Jen as she blinked rapidly under her mask.
"Yeah," said Shadow with a small smile. Jen looked around trying to find the creature.
"It ran off, after I gave it a good beating."
"You didn't kill it?"
"No, the creature's being controlled to attack us. It means no harm."
"How do you know that?"
"They're called Kocka."
"How do you know?"
"The Kockas are from my planet, they're really friendly creatures."
"I want to believe you," said Jen as she looked down at her leg.
"Like I said they're friendly creatures but just under mind control."
"I'll just take your word for it."
Shadow giggled and finished wrapping the leg. "I had to give you a few stitches, but they'll heal eventually."
"Why did you help me?"
"I couldn't just watch you die."
"But you could be one more step closer to winning."
"I don't want to win the Death Games."
Jen's eyes widen under her mask. "What?!" She felt her cheeks warm up. "Why don't you want to win? I mean that's a lot of money and you wanted to escape your planet."
"I do, but there's a better prize I want. Something that nobody can put a price on," said Shadow with a smile and Jen swore her eyes were sparkling.
"What's this prize? Will you tell me?"
Shadow debated on telling her or keeping it to herself. "I love somebody."
"Is it Nightwing?"
"Yes."
"I didn't know you meant it."
"I do. I've never felt this way about anybody before."
"You're in love."
"I am, but we can never be together."
"Because of the Death Games?"
"Yes, I just got this feeling that in the end it'll be me and him. No offense."
"None taken, and this feeling is understandable; it's how I feel about Scar."
Shadow gave a cheerful smirk, "You like him?"
"Yes," said Jen as her cheeks turned red.
"Good for you."
"Thanks and good for you getting Nightwing."
"Thanks, I wonder why no girl has gotten him? I mean he's so cute."
"There's another word you wanted to use to beside cute."
"How can you tell?"
"Even though I don't show it, I'm still a girl." Shadow chuckle and Jen smile under the mask. Then Jen remove her mask to reveal her ruby eyes. Shadow was astonished by her eyes. "What?"
"Your eyes are beautiful."
"Thanks. So Shadow, aren't you going to reveal your pretty eyes to me?"
"No, I want to show my eyes to Nightwing. So that I can make sure he's safe and can get a better look at his sexy body."
"Oh look at you. Calling him sexy."
Shadow and Jen laughed, but they heard a crunch. They stopped laughing; Shadow stood up and looked at the woods. She got her bow and arrow ready. Jen searched as well. Then they heard a laugh; it sent chills down their spines.
"Well, well, well, looks like I got a couple of girls who look lost and helpless," said the voice.
"Does this bow and arrow show I'm helpless?!" yelled Shadow as she gave an angry glare.
"On the outside no, but in the inside you're helpless and weak."
"We'll see. Know come out Buzz."
"Buzz?" repeated Jen.
Buzz came into the girls' views, and he had an evil smirk on his face. "Shadow, Jen, it's good to see you."
"What do you want?" snapped Jen.
"Is that any way to speak to a friend?"
"Thing is Buzz, you're not our friend. Now answer her question," growled Shadow.
"Well, I'm here to kill you two girls."
"That's not going to happen," Jen said sternly.
"Well you got a messed up leg, so you'll be easy to get rid of. Shadow, you'll take time, but I'll kill you too."
"I won't let you hurt her," Shadow whispered deep and serious.
"We'll see."
Buzz was about to pull out a knife, but Shadow shot an arrow at his hand. The knife flew out of his hand.
"Look Buzz, I don't want to fight, but I will if I have too," said Shadow as she aimed her bow and arrow at him.
"You got soft," said Buzz as his smile grew bigger. "Is it because of Nightwing?"
Shadow didn't say anything; she just glared at him. "Well I don't want to fight you if you're soft." Buzz stepped closer and caressed Shadow's arm. "I'm going to touch you, and I'm going to make sure you don't care."
"I've never been that type of girl."
"We'll see."
Jen watched helplessly as Shadow and Buzz fought. Buzz got rid of Shadow's bow and arrow, but she punched him across the face. She couldn't help but smirk at the snap of his nose. Buzz punched her in the stomach, but Shadow grabbed his arm and kicked him in the stomach. Buzz clutched his stomach and started to laugh.
"What are you laughing about?!" hissed Jen.
"Oh nothing, it's just that Shadow actually thinks she can beat me."
"I don't think, I know," snapped Shadow.
"Well I know how to make you snap," said Buzz and his smile grew wider.
"Is that so," said Shadow.
"Yes, and I wonder how long it'll take?"
"What do you mean?"
"I wonder how many beatings it will take until you break."
"You can try to hurt me, I'll still win!"
"I'm not talking about beating you," Buzz said with an evil grin. "I'm talking about snapping every bone in your boyfriend's body."
"You lay a hand on him and I'll kill you!"
"Who's going to stop me? You can't."
"I will!"
Shadow rapidly punched him and kicked him. Jen watched and became terrified of Shadow; she saw the anger on Shadow's face. Jen then realized that she still had a stun gun that her friend had sent her. She reached for her ankle holster and took aim. She was being very careful not to hit Shadow, but they kept moving around. Buzz pushed Shadow hard to the ground and took out another knife.
"Time to die," said Buzz, his voice pure evil.
Jen saw a chance. She shot her gun and bullets came out, hitting Buzz in the chest. His whole body shook and he collapse. Shadow turned her head to Jen.
"Thanks," panted Shadow.
"No problem," said Jen.
Shadow stood up and dusted off her outfit, but unknown to her Buzz stood up.
"Shadow! Look out!" yelled Jen.
But it was too late, Buzz grabbed Shadow from behind and placed a knife over her throat.
"Nice try Jen," said Buzz, his voice made Jen shiver in fear. "Now Shadow, you're coming with me or else Jen will get it."
"Don't you dare hurt her," hissed Shadow.
"Then you'll be a good girl for me." Buzz dragged Shadow to Jen, he stood beside her.
"This is to make sure you won't follow us."
Before Jen could do anything her world went into darkness. The last thing she heard was her name being screamed.
"Once I came to, Shadow and Buzz were gone. Then Scar came and found me and we ended up here," said Jen finishing her tale.
Everybody becomes silent, and they stare at Nightwing, who looks frozen.
"Nightwing? Are you ok?" asked Zals.
"Something's not right," said Nightwing.
"What do you mean?" asked Kindle.
"Buzz couldn't have Shadow, because we met him, and Shadow wasn't there."
"That's right," said Mac.
"Maybe she escaped?" said Scar.
"It's a possibility, but Buzz would have shown me proof that he met with Shadow. Jen, do you know when it happened?"
"I don't know Nightwing, it's hard to tell," said Jen.
"Why is the time important?" asked Mac.
"Maybe Buzz got to Jen and Shadow first than came to us," said Nightwing as he walk back and forth.
"Wait how do you know if Buzz got to you guys first than Jen and Shadow?" asked Scar.
"Because me and Nightwing saw Buzz fall and not come back," said Mac.
"So he's dead?" asked Jen.
"There's a possibility," said Zals.
"So what's our next move?" asked Kindle.
Nightwing tries to figure out a new plan, but his mind is clouded with Shadow. 'I hope Shadow did escape. Buzz better not hurt her. I don't know what I'll do if Shadow gets hurt or dies…No I can't think of that. Shadow, wherever you are, I'm coming for you.'
Nightwing was about to say something, but a voice interrupted.
"Hello players!" said Ki.
Everybody startle at his voice and they stare at Ki.
"I'm afraid I have some bad news. We have two players missing, not for sure if they're dead, but missing. We have no idea how or why it happen, but we will find them. The players missing are Buzz and Shadow,"
Nightwing's whole world shattered once he heard her name. 'Shadow's missing? No it can't be; it can't be happening. Shadow's alive, but where is she?'
