XP: Insanity. Why am I updating so early this time? This must be a miracle of sorts! Hopefully this will be an upward trend, but I really doubt so lolol. Thanks for the many reviews, I'm really heartened to see many people taking the new pairing so well, though obviously there are naysayers as well. But I'll just be writing what I feel like and think of, since this is my story anyhoos.
I hope you enjoy reading the new chapter! And for anyone interested, I've actually finished this psp game called YS III in just 2 days haha during my off days from work. Yeah, I gotta pay my own phone bills and stuffs which sucks. But enough about me, on to Hisoka and Killua!
***START***
Killua was walking about in circles at the harbor, clearly irritated. Sometimes he folded his arms and tapped his fingers on his elbow, sometimes he stayed in one spot and tapped his feet, and overall his actions spelled impatience. This was the scene Hisoka walked in on.
"Killua-chan~" He called sweetly, and was pleased to see Killua's cute sulking face turn towards him.
"You!" Killua called out accusingly. "How could you do that to Kurapika!?"
"What did I do?" The clown mock pouted. He liked playing this game with Killua, play fighting a little bit. Killua showed the cutest of expressions, like when he scrunches up his nose with anger, or when he huffs angrily, or when he pouts so attractively with those pink lips of his... Hisoka could go on and on.
"He's already stressed enough with all his work and finding the eyes, why did you have to add a huge problem to his workload?!" Killua ranted, clearly upset.
Hisoka was rather amused. From an outsider's perspective, it would have seemed that Killua and Kurapika weren't very close, not during the Hunter exam at any rate. Most of the conversation was between Gon and Killua, or Gon and the rest of the group. Kurapika and Killua didn't exactly mingle a lot, and were the pair that spoke the least to one another. But seeing Killua get so angry on Kurapika's behalf, that spoke a different story. Kurapika was rather defensive for his younger friend at the restaurant too, wasn't he?
Their relationship was a curious one.
"Illumi could prove to be an advantage to his life," Hisoka retorted with a smug smirk.
"How so?" Killua furrowed his eyebrows, clearly not buying it.
"Well, given that he is prodded in the right direction, he would be seeking the scarlet eyes all over the world just too woo our Kura-chan's heart," Hisoka chuckled. "Although I'm sure Kurapika would prove to be quite the stubborn one."
"...You guys better not hurt him, or you'll be sorry," Killua ended with a cute threat.
Why was the duo so protective of one another? Hisoka found it hard to comprehend. Then again, the group was always so protective of one another. He didn't get it. He never had such a relationship before.
"Don't worry, he's my business partner, it would be against our mutual benefits," Hisoka assured.
"Wait, that's the first time I've heard about that!" Killua gasped. "What, so you're selling info about the spiders to him? So that time in Yorkshin..."
Hisoka smiled as Killua put two and two together. Now quiet, Killua pursed his lips in thought at his new revelation. How long had they had this relationship? He felt a little betrayed at not being told this piece of news. Kurapika never said anything about it. Then again, Kurapika never wanted them to get involved with his spider business. He was so stupidly selfish and selfless at the same time, even though they were friends and should help another, and just because they were friends he wouldn't ever want to put them in any danger. Conflicted by this paradox, Killua groaned and clutched his head.
"That's all there is to it?" Killua asked suspiciously. "What does he have to give you in return then?"
"Why, are you jealous, my little assassin?" Hisoka teased.
"Wha-! I am not!" Killua blushed lightly. "Just answer the goddamn question!"
"Entertainment, I guess," Hisoka smirked. "I always wanted to try being a spy. Besides, he's so funny when he gets all huffy."
"...Wait. Are you doing the same thing to me then?" Killua pouted. "Making me angry on purpose?"
"Not exactly. I do it to you because you're so cute."
"Pervert!" Killua accused with a pretty pink dusting his cheeks, turning away from the infuriating magician.
"Well, if you're going to be like that, I guess I'll have to eat this chocolate myself," Hisoka exclaimed loudly, with every intention to tease the chocolate loving boy.
"What!" Killua spun around in record time, eyes sparkling in hopes of his favorite treat.
"Well, I guess I could give it to you," Hisoka hummed as the boy ran over liked an excited puppy, trying to reach for the chocolate bar Hisoka held high above his head. "Will you forgive me then?"
Hisoka gently ruffled the snowy white locks, and Killua looked up at him with inquisitive eyes and a boyish smirk. "Baka. You know I can never resist chocolate."
It was such a tender moment then, like time had frozen. Hisoka could only stare in wonder as the sunlight danced across the beautiful features of the adolescent boy in front of him, bringing to life hues in the boy's eyes he never knew existed in the color spectrum. Killua's face was like that of a little angel, with his warm and sparkling eyes and bright smile.
"Are you going to give it to me or not?" Killua pouted prettily.
Enraptured, Hisoka moved his hand from the boy's head to cup his soft cheek.
"H-Hisoka?"
The uncertain tone in Killua's voice stopped Hisoka from going any further. Stepping back a little, Hisoka missed the confused disappointment dancing in Killua's eyes when he averted his gaze to prevent himself from doing something illegal to Killua.
"You can have all the chocolate in the world," Hisoka whispered."If it'll make you happy."
Completely missing the sincere and devoted confession, Killua replied with a toothy smirk, "Well yeah, maybe I'll be a chocolate hunter or something! I would probably be the first huh."
Hisoka laughed at the utter absurdity of the situation and statement. "That sounds interesting."
"And very very delicious," Killua replied smugly, pulling the chocolate bar from Hisoka's loose grasp while his guard was down. He unwrapped it eagerly and was biting chunks of it off instantly.
While watching the little ex-assassin munch away, Hisoka observed that the boy seemed to be in much higher spirits than previously. It was almost as if Killua didn't miss Gon anymore. He wanted to ask about it, yet he was afraid that it was a dormant landmine lying in wait to explode once he reminded the snowy haired boy about it. But regardless, he was glad that Killua was showing such spirited positive emotions rather than the gloomy faces he pulled as he stared off at the far distant. Killua was the cutest when he pulled odd faces and smiled brightly anyway. But his curiosity prompted him to ask the question anyway.
"Aren't you worried?"
"About?" Killua raised an eyebrow as he licked the chocolate remnants off his fingers. Hisoka watched the action closely, licking his own lips.
"Gon."
"Well, not really," Killua gave a little smile. "You see, Kurapika told me something that made a lot of sense. As his friend, I should have trust in his abilities as a hunter. Plus, he has always been really lucky. I'm sure he'll get a lot of help at the island and pull through no matter what."
"Oh?" Hisoka curled his lips, amused. So Kurapika held so much power over Killua's convictions and thought process. Interesting. "And you trust his words so much because...?"
"Kurapika's crazy smart. He's never been wrong thus far, and he's the most intelligent, logical person I've ever met," Killua shrugged. "I definitely trust his judgment."
Hearing Killua speak so highly about Kurapika, Hisoka got a little jealous. If the Kuruta held the highest ranking in this aspect, what did he rank the highest as? Outrage of modesty and molestation perhaps, but that was beside the point. He wanted to mean something to the sweetly smiling boy.
"But you did help me out a lot," Killua looked away with a reluctant pout, like he was embarrassed to say those words.
"Me?" Hisoka breathed out quietly. It was as though Killua knew what he wanted to hear.
"You kept me company these few days and kept trying to cheer me up. I used to think you were just a perverted battle crazy clown, but I guess you're not so bad."
"So thank you," Killua turned to face him and gave a shy smile, pinks tinged pink. Self conscious at how intently Hisoka was watching him, Killua pulled at his bangs and glanced off to the side. "Geez, this is so sappy."
Before he knew what he was doing, he was tightly embracing the adorable boy.
"Hey, I didn't know you were so sappy too," Killua laughed as he hugged the clown back. His innocent intentions and open show of his feelings made Hisoka feel slightly guilty about his monopolistic desire to claim the boy as his and only his and to steal him away from his best friend. But throughout his life, he had never felt such strong pulls of feelings, such desire towards anything like he had towards Killua.
"Er, can you let me go now?" Killua asked softly, getting a little uncomfortable at the touchy-feely thing going on. He wasn't used to so much physical contact.
"Can I never?"
"Stop joking around!" Killua laughed wriggling his way out of the pouting man's arms. "Stupid pedophile. Anyway, I'm thinking of going over to find Gon in a few days if he still doesn't come back. Kurapika said I should tell him about how I feel when he acts so stubborn. He's likely to be more understanding then, apparently. I'll just try what he says."
Hisoka frowned, a little upset that other people's names kept popping up during a moment that should belong only to Killua and him solely. But he knew he had to go about this slowly until Killua's mind was filled with nothing but him. Being too forceful from the start would only scare the adolescent away.
"Shall I go with you? You said it was pretty dangerous right?"
"Would you?!" Killua's eyes sparkled. "I was a little hesitant about going alone, but I've already troubled you so much, I wasn't sure to ask you or not."
"You can always ask me for anything," Hisoka cooed.
"Awesome!" Killua cheered, missing the second confession. Hisoka was thinking that maybe Killua was one of the densest people on earth ever. Then again, he hasn't properly entered through puberty to realize Hisoka's incessant come-ons.
Well, but that denseness was still pretty endearing.
***LINE BREAK***
***START***
Stressed out and weary from another long day of bodyguard duty for the Nostrad young lady, Kurapika yawned and leaned against the door. He didn't even feel like searching his pocket for the key to open it. He could just lean against the soothing cool surface and fall asleep standing up.
"Good night, Kurapika," Senritsu called out softly a few doors down, making Kurapika snap his head up in alarm and stumble back. He had almost drifted off.
She giggled at his expense because he looked silly.
"You always see the most disgraceful sides of me," Kurapika mused with a little smile. He half leaned on the door again, too tired to hold himself up. He looked so much like a sleepy little boy that Senritsu couldn't hold back a motherly smile.
"Make sure to make it into the door tonight," She teased.
"I'll try," Kurapika replied dryly. Then softer, he added, "Good night."
"By the way, you have a visitor," she reminded softly and entered her own room.
Kurapika groaned. Opening the door with his head hanging down, he grumbled, "What is it now Hisoka?"
"Does Hisoka always pay you visits at nights?"
"Illumi?" Lifting his head, he could see the assassin sitting on his window sill, the moon casting a dark halo around his midnight black hair. His eyes were narrowed, and a dark aura was exuding from him. Kurapika thought that the man might be jealous, even though there was hardly any cause for such an emotion. Refusing to be intimidated, Kurapika stood his ground and stared the man straight in the eyes, ignoring all his instincts to run the fuck out of the door.
"Does he?" Illumi insisted with a low growl.
"Dear lord, no. He only did that once and I pushed him off of the window. Not that it helped anything, he had his bungee gum. Ugh." Kurapika removed his shoes and socks and lined them in an orderly manner at the doorway. Looking towards the direction of the shower, he decided he was too tired for one and could do it tomorrow.
"And did he do anything to you?"
"No! Do you think I can't protect myself?" Kurapika huffed with sought annoyance, throwing himself on the bed.
"Not when you act so vulnerable," Illumi replied with disapproval, eyeing how open Kurapika was to attacks when he just laid there defenseless.
"Psh. What do I have to fear from you? I thought you loved me," Kurapika said sarcastically. "Unless you only liked my eyes. Then that's a whole different story."
Illumi was right in front of his red tinged eyes in an instant.
"That makes me all the more dangerous," he growled.
Flinching, Kurapika bit his lips as he stared into the seemingly endless depths of Illumi's dark eyes. Illumi's words vibrated in his mind, with his lips so close to his ears. But Kurapika didn't dare to close his eyes in front of this insane individual.
"You shouldn't just lie there looking like you want to be ravaged."
Retreating to give Kurapika his personal space back, Illumi leaned against the wall to watch the blond closely. Kurapika released a breath he didn't know he held. His heart was pounding frantically in his chest now, and his head was ringing all the warning bells of danger from how close the assassin had been to him. He could've been killed in an instant with his guard down like that. But that wasn't the real threat here. He felt like the danger here wasn't being killed, it was being kissed senseless by the obsessive man in front of him. Gulping, Kurapika sat up to gather his composure.
"But you wouldn't do that to me," Kurapika retorted with false bravado, sounding a lot more confident than he felt. "You said you wanted to steal my heart, didn't you?"
Illumi smirked, lips curling up on one side of his face. "I did."
"Then I have nothing to fear from you!" Kurapika claimed a little smugly. He always liked proving his point when he knew he had a winning argument.
"Yes. I would never hurt you."
That statement, spoken in such a gentle tone, made Kurapika's stomach do flip flops. Illumi was staring hard at him, eyes seemingly piercing into his very soul. The intensity of that gaze was hard to bear, so Kurapika slid his eyes away in avoidance. His heart was beating so hard, he could hear it in his head. He was sure he was blushing now.
"So why did you come here?" His voice was tinged with embarrassment, and it wavered just the slightest.
"I just wanted to see you. Good night."
And the man was gone again in an instant, leaving Kurapika to collapse on his bed with his aching head and swirling thoughts. Why did Illumi have to make his life so complicated? He never had any experience in the dating field to know how to deal with being the target of someone's love interest. And all the novels he read couldn't have prepared him for the heart beating experience he just had. Oh, and he bet Senritsu was just having a field day giggling about him in her room right now!

XP: R&R! Also, I'm very sorry for any errors here. I type most of the stuff on my phone and transfer it to my laptop to upload, and I don't employ betas because I'm too lazy and impatient for the vetting process to take place.
