XP: Short chapter to thank my patiently waiting fans. Next chapter will be some IlluKura action, and ratings will change to M thanks to popular requests. HisoKillu will stay fluffy though. Please take note!
***Start***
"I'll be going with you, don't worry Gon," Kurapika reassured as he ruffled the spiky hair of his friend. The hair was strangely soft, but bounced back to its spikes quickly. Weird. But that makes sense, it wasn't like Gon brought a can of hairspray with him everywhere like to the Hunter Exams right? Okay, weird ramblings, Kurapika you need some sleep. Focus, Gon's saying something.
"Thanks Kurapika," Gon replied somberly.
Kurapika contacted Hisoka earlier, and the clown grudgingly agreed to let them visit the hotel room they stayed in. He wanted to keep Killua all to himself, of course, but Killua tended to look melancholic and sad whenever he thought Hisoka wasn't noticing. Which was impossible. Hisoka watched Killua 24/7. Whatever it was, he had to make Killua feel better somehow.
"Hmm, let's see, floor number 28..." Kurapika mumbled to himself, tending to speak out loud to kill awkward silences around his friends. "Yup, it's here." He knocked a few times on the door and waited.
"Why, isn't it my favorite blond," Hisoka greeted as he opened the door, appraising Kurapika up and down like he always did whenever they met up. Kurapika found it highly annoying, but there wasn't much he could do about it. "You do seem healthier, and the pink accessories suit you well of course," Hisoka teased.
"Huh?" Kurapika's hands flew up instantaneously. He remembered the pink hairclip and hairtie Neon forced on him. He flushed quickly in embarrassment. "No, this is just... Argh. Never mind that."
Hisoka laughed at his expense. He stopped laughing once he saw the short figure that was hiding behind Kurapika. Murderous nen seeped out from Hisoka and his face morphed to look demonic.
"Hisoka," Kurapika warned, putting protective nen around Gon and himself. They made a promise that no one would be harmed today. Hisoka reeled it in and started to smile again, although it did look very forced.
"This way then," Hisoka shifted to let them both in, and when he looked at that spiky haired figure-
"Hisoka," Kurapika stressed. The clown frowned and backed off, increasing the distance between them.
"He's in the room," Hisoka pointed, then sat on the coach with a look of ease, but he was roaring to go and maim Gon into tiny little pieces at any hint of provocation. Sighing, Kurapika continued to be the body shield as he pushed the indecisive Gon forward to the room.
Killua looked small and afraid sitting on the bed waiting for them. He was wrapped up in blankets, which was cute of course, and he patted the spot in front of him to signal that the two of them were supposed to sit there. He exchanged a look with Kurapika who nodded and smiled encouragingly. Yep, Kurapika's here, nothing to fear. Gon sat on the bed gingerly, unable to meet Killua's eyes out of guilt.
"Okay, let's start," Kurapika broke the ice. Gon looked towards him helplessly, as did Killua. Refusing to let his smile falter in the tense and miserable air, Kurapika nudged Gon, "Hey, don't you have something to say to Killua?"
"I- um!" Gon looked up to meet the sad eyes of his best friend, and felt crushed by the implications behind them. He betrayed Killua's trust and disappointed him. "I just..." He looked down, biting his lip. "I wanted to apologize. I'm sorry. I don't know what I was thinking, but I never should have done that. I hate myself. I understand if you hate me too."
Kurapika kept his mouth shut, wanting to see how it played out now without any interference.
"Gon, I would never hate you," Killua reassured with a soft smile. Gon looked up hopefully, but he was struck with pain again at Killua's expressive eyes. It was true that Killua would never hate Gon, but it was because of that, of how important Gon was to him, that he had been deeply hurt from all the times Gon ignored him and threw both their lives in danger, and the last straw that broke the camel's back- hit him.
"I'm so sorry," Gon repeated, tears brimming in his eyes now from realizing just how much he fucked up their friendship overtime. Killua had given him so many chances and always stood by him, but he never saw that. "I'll change, I swear. I'll try my hardest Killua, and you can punch me whenever I'm being a jerk."
"I don't know, Gon," Killua replied honestly, eyes downcast. He breathed a deep breath, sighing. "I'm just so tired of it all."
"Give me time, Killua. I'll change, really," Gon promised earnestly, grabbing Killua's shoulders. His heart broke when Killua actually flinched and looked aside uncomfortably.
"Sorry Gon," Killua adverted his eyes, pushing Gon's hands away. "I want to forgive you, I really do, but..."
"Look, I think maybe the two of you just need some time to be apart. Gon, you can take your time to change yourself and Killua, I think you need some time away from Gon. It wasn't healthy how your world only revolved around him," Kurapika advised instantly, seeing how the communications was about to collapse and the two were going to withdraw into depression again. "How does that sound? You can still contact each other over the phone and through letters. If need be I can be your middleman as well."
"Yeah," Killua smiled, looking at Kurapika thankfully. "I think that would be good."
Gon glanced between Killua and Kurapika, nodding slowly. He wasn't too sure, but he didn't want the distance between Killua and him to grow even bigger. Kurapika should know better, in the end. He was the one who started to fix their relationship.
"Thanks for giving me a chance Killua, I'll prove myself to you," Gon promised.
Killua grinned, and Gon saw a ghost of his former friend in it. "I'll hold you to that," Killua reached his fist out.
"Mm. Promise," Gon fistbumped his best friend, and they shared a smile. He looked forward to the future where they could laugh about anything and everything again. "See you, Killua!" Gon chirped, and Killua saw the person he first become best friends with.
"See you," Killua replied softly, feeling nostalgic all of a sudden. Gon waved awkwardly, and Killua waved back, and the duo left the room.
Killua collapsed back onto the bed, feeling mixed feelings. He felt a lot better after Kurapika came and helped them sort everything out. He really needed to properly thank his wise blond friend later. What did he want to do from here on out? He imagined Hisoka's smiling face, Hisoka who had helped him get back on his feet again and again despite him thinking of Hisoka as an enemy originally. All he knew was that he liked who he was and what he felt when he was around Hisoka. It was fun, light and easy being around Hisoka.
Hisoka entered the room quietly and didn't say anything. He just sat beside Killua and stroked Killua's head gently, waiting for him to sort out his thoughts. Killua's eyes slowly closed from how kind and comforting Hisoka's hand felt on his head. This person with him now was completely different from the sadistic, terrifying clown he first met. He was so protective that Killua could completely lower his guard around him.
"Are you alright?"
The soft voice soothed Killua, and he shifted closer to be nestled against Hisoka.
"I think I will be. Ne, Hisoka..." Killua looked up with trusting, hopeful eyes. "Can I stay with you from now on?"
Joy bubbled in Hisoka's chest from the cute request, squashing all prior insecurities. He was so afraid that Gon would come and steal Killua away.
"A-Are you sure?" Hisoka had to quell the urge to hug the life out of Killua. He had to make sure.
"Mm, I like you," Killua replied honestly and simply, before looking away and blushing. "Aah, mou. Why did you make me say that? Geez."
Sulking cutely, Killua dove under the covers to hide, gathering it together to become a cocoon. Hisoka chuckled and laid on top of the soft mound.
"Hisokaaaa," Killua whined. "You're heavyy."
"Yeah? It's the weight of my love for you," Hisoka grinned cheesily. He had an unexpected corny side.
"I'm getting goosebumps," Killua groaned, but he was giggling.
"Let me in, Killua," Hisoka tugged at the covers childishly. "Or come out. I miss you."
"Hmph, fine. Only for you," Killua replied sweetly, popping his head out from the covers. He smiled at the adoring look on Hisoka's face and leaned in for a chaste kiss.
"One more," Hisoka whispered under his breath. He leaned down and kissed Killua deeply, making the young boy blush from the unfamiliar sensations.
"Pervert," Killua pouted with a deep blush, swatting at Hisoka half heartedly. He ducked back under the covers. "Now I'm never coming out unless you bring me some chocolate."
Hisoka chuckled at the cute threat. "Yes, your highness."
Killua felt the weight of the bed lift as Hisoka got off to fulfill his request. Killua smiled to himself, perfectly content. Continuing the days like this might not be so bad.
"Here."
Killua peeked out to see Hisoka opened his mouth smugly to show the chocolate ball inside. "This is the only way you're getting any."
"Pfft," Killua snickered. He sat up with a mischievous smirk. "Nothing will deter me from chocolate."
He kissed Hisoka and fought for the chocolate ball with his tongue. He leaned back smugly once he got it, even though he knew Hisoka let him win.
"Hmm, that's good to know for the future," Hisoka said darkly, starting to fantasize.
"Ah! W-What are you t-thinking a-about, pervert!" Killua smacked Hisoka's arms in embarrassment.
"I didn't say anything," Hisoka played innocent. Teasingly, he added, "Are you sure you're not the one imagining dirty things?"
"You!" Killua hollered in disbelief, then broke into laughter. "Shut up."
Hisoka smiled unknowingly as he watched Killua laugh. He wanted to keep that sweet smile on Killua's face forever.
