Another Penguin To The Zoo
Chapter 14
Some Odd Christmas
It had been 3 months since Lindsey was kidnapped and she was now decorating the HQ in a very Christmas-y manner. There was a small Christmas tree standing at the centre of the living room, and lots of tinsel in the rooms, even round the TV. Suddenly Skipper came and exclaimed: "what in the deuce do you think you're doing Lindsey?! There's not meant to be any tinsel in the HQ and you know it!"
"It's gonna be Christmas tomorrow, Skipper! I'm just trying to make this place look merrier," Lindsey explained, but Skipper's only response was to karate-chop the tinsel off of the walls and TV. Lindsey groaned and then attacked him sending them both tumbling down to the ground.
"What did you say Skipper?" Lindsey grinned victoriously, as she looked down at the fallen leader.
Skipper sighed, giving in with a grumble. "Fine but don't make this place look like a hippy's house. Rico did this once and I hated that style ever since." Lindsey giggled, giggled at that. Skipper always seemed to have something funny to say about his past experiences.
She was fixing the tinsel when suddenly the TV turned on. On the screen appeared a dolphin.
"Hello, pen-gu-ins...- wait who are you?" the dolphin froze, catching sight of the female penguin, but then started laughing. "Never knew Skipper that you would start training girls," Blowhole added, still laughing. Lindsey gave him a stern look, making the dolphin apologised. "So sorry, didn't mean to offend the lady," he said as Skipper came forward.
"Blowhole what is the meaning of this you fiend-," Skipper was cut off, by Blowhole's irritating taunts.
"And you have Christmas decorations! Have you been turned into a chick again, Skipper?" he mocked Skipper, who was slowly turning red with fury.
"For your information I chose to decorate the HQ not Skipper," Lindsey admitted, looking proudly at the penguin at the dolphin. "And what's your name dolphin?" She asked. She honestly didn't know why Skipper would talk to such a bully of a dolphin.
"I am doctor Blowhole and I thought of a little thing to harden Skippers life, Operaaaation: Attaaack!" Blowhole shouted.
Lindsey sniggered and then laughed. "Operation attack? Your gonna attack us... how dull. And how on earth- you're a cute dolphin, that does tricks and helps others!" she burst out laughing and soon the rest of the penguins laughed too.
"I'll get you for that one, whatever your name is, you'll pay! But for now, since there's a newby in the team I will explain you a couple of things. First I am evil, not "cute", but thanks for the compliment. Second, I will attack you because as Skipper knows - though you've put him into doubts - I mean business! And lastly merry Christmas, I have decided to move my day of attack since, you got a lady in your team, Skip," Blowhole added with a smirk. It was clearly him who was laughing now. "and I am planning to send you something, whoever you are so watch out!" And with that threat, he disappeared and the TV went off again.
"Really, why do bad guys call us always when it's Christmas and days like that!" Skipper moaned.
Kowalski added, not helping with the mood, "Hans called in today, claiming that he wants a fish fight with you, Skipper."
Skipper sighed and went outside. He had to sort out a couple of things because it was getting dark and tomorrow the kids will want to come to look at the Christmas tree that Rico and Kowalski had finished decorating. Now all he needed to get some presents and everything would be set for Christmas day.
"Lindsey can you help me with something?" Skipper asked Lindsey as he headed out.
"Yeah, sure. What do you need help with?" she replied. Skipper explained everything and then they headed out into the night.
They dodged the lampposts dashing right into a toys and clothes shop that was located down the main street. Skipper opened the door looking to check if it was empty. "Agent innocent, coast is clear," Skipper whispered as Lindsey crept in as well. The shelves and hangers were overfilled with clothes and toys, but Skipper - who didn't really celebrate Christmas - didn't know what to take.
"Okay lets take this and this and., " Lindsey began pointing to the different items, trying to take in to account Skipper's description of the kids that were going be attending. Not that she got any toys as a kid, but she did have a vague idea of what might suit the kids best. They soon skidded out taking the toys and other things with them.
The penguins put the presents under the Christmas tree in the park and then disappeared again.
Christmas Morning
It was Christmas. Children laughed and sang Christmas songs whilst the adults tried to make Christmas as as merry as possible for their children and at the same time tried to keep on top of all the havoc going on between the excitable youngsters, high on sugar and Christmas spirit. Skipper was dressed up as Santa Claus and the rest of the zoo animals were dressed up as elves, with costumes, jingle bells and all. Even the reindeer were there, since Santa no longer required their assistance for the day.
Once the kids had gone, the rest of the animals exchanged gifts. Lindsey was surprised to get a beautiful necklace the boys made out of the things they found in a jewellery making set and the boys got new grappling hooks from Lindsey, since their older ones didn't work any more. After this celebration they all calmly then went to the HQ, but as they got inside, Skipper saw a puffin standing there looking at him with a smile that told Skipper that his enemy was up to no good.
"Nice to meet you Skippah, it has been such a long time since ve last battled," Hans greeted him in his Danish accent, smiling. "Hi there lady penguin, hope I'm not interrupting your little festivities, I am Hans by ze vay," he added, spotting the female penguin standing there, with a much less judging look in her eyes.
"Hello Hans, Skipper said you usually cause trouble. How is that?" Linsey asked curiously. Honestly, the puffin looked no more evil than Blowhole – who let's face it, didn't look intimidating at all.
"Lindsey, that is between me, Hans and the Danes'," Skipper answered. "Hans, what do you want this time, for shutting up?" Skipper asked irritably as he gave Hans a scrutinising glare.
"I vant a fish fight, Skippah, just like the one in Denmark. Then I'll go."
Skipper agreed and they started fencing with fishes in their flippers, both of them wanting to win. Skipper managed to hit Hans in his head but he was too slow and Hans managed to hit him in his face. Fortunately Skipper won because after a while of fighting, he managed to corner Hans, forcing the puffin to fall into the water inside the penguin enclosure. It was save to say that after the bit of humility, Hans gave in.
"Vell, time for me to head off, or I'll be late in Hoboken," Hans muttered glumly, as he started to head off.
Lindsey stopped him. The others looked at her in confusion. "Hans don't go! You can stay with us for a while longer. I was planing to cook some carp, and they'll be plenty of food for everyone of us," she said smiling. Skipper wanted to stop her but, he thought about it for a while and finally gave up on the thought. She was far too stubborn.
"Oh thank you sooo much, Lindsey, but you do know ve'll be enemies again once Christmas is over," Hans stated, looking at her.
"Yes I know but it's Christmas and even Blowhole let his anger go, because it's the time of year when peace should prevail over violence and war," Lindsey explained in a soft voice. Accepting this, the penguins and puffin went inside and had an hour of fun and games. They told each other stories and showed each other photos. They were careful though not to give any valuable information, though.
It was time for Hans to go. "Bye Hans, the next time we will see you as a friend is next christmas, so before then good luck!" Lindsey wished him, waving after him. Finally Skipper let go of his gruffness and agreed at once, even waving his former foe good bye.
meanwhile...
A crazy figure sat on one of the boxes sitting inside the storage house. It was dark, but it didn't seem that the stranger minded. No, he could see perfectly well. He was shooting darts at a photo. The only photo left of Lindsey and her family.
"Hi there again, I hope you enjoyed this chapter!"
Lindsey: "Hey was that who I think that was?"
Hades: "You don't even no how very right you are... muahahahaha!"
Lindsey: "Could you please stop that, I am busy reading reviews. Oh hi there readers ."
"Really? She didn't notice you at all?"
Kowalski: "Stop with all that noise! I am trying to solve a very hard question, can't you see?" *He cuts the author and the penguins off, as he reads the sheet of paper. His features are contorted in frustration.*
Lindsey: "Kowalski you know that you're holding the paper upside down." *She giggles as she turns paper around.*
Kowalski: "I knew that!" *He groans, stubbornly refusing to admit the truth.* Anyway I am sure we will all see you in the next chapter and we hope you have enjoyed this one."
