AN-Another chapter review and let me know what you think.
"You're up and walking." Victoria said with a smile as Daryl slowly walked over to the table she was preparing food at.
"Yeah." He grumbled, "You cookin'?"
"Yes." She frowned, "Is that a problem?"
"I just remember your cookin' aint always been good." He gave her a soft smile.
"I'll have you know my cooking has always been good." She smirked at him.
"No." he shook his head, "If I remember right the smoke detectors went off lots."
"They were defective." She frowned.
"Only when you cooked." Daryl sat down and winced.
"You all right?" she asked softly.
"Always alright." He sighed as he leaned back in the chair.
"Daryl I know that isn't true." Victoria smiled at him, "I know you better then you want me to know."
"You don't know me." He shook his head, "Not anymore."
"You're the same." She told him.
"I'm not." He told her as he shook his head, "Neither are you."
"I might have changed." She told him, "But you haven't, not really."
" 'course I have." He told her, "Merle and I we don't travel together no more."
"You are still the same man I knew, only now you know it." She smiled at him, "It took the end of the world, but who I see before me now is the same man I knew back then."
"No" Daryl frowned.
"Yes you are." She gave him a sad smile, "I knew the moment I saw you again, and for the first time since you left I felt safe again."
Daryl shook his head, "Always belevin' in fairy tales."
"Because I had a real life prince charming back then." She told him, "How many times did you save me?" she asked him, "How many times did I put myself in bad situations and you always found me. You were always saving me."
"Some one had to." He grumbled. "Ain't mean I was prince charming."
"You were to me." She told him.
"Hey babe." A man's voice said as he came into the room. The man leaned down and kissed Victoria on the cheek. Daryl clenched his fist.
"Chris." Victoria smiled as she looked up at him, "I thought you were going to go out to try and get some supplies?"
Daryl tried to hide his laughter causing Chris to glare at him.
"What?" Chris didn't like Daryl he had no idea about Victoria's past with him, Daryl just wasn't the type Chris liked or trusted.
"You don't seem like the type to go out on runs." Daryl looked the man up and down. This was the type of man that he always knew Victoria would end up with.
"I could if I wanted to." Chris glared at the other man.
"Sure you could, and probably piss yourself if you saw a walker." Daryl grinned.
"Daryl!" Victoria scolded, "Enough."
"I have more important things to do." Chris narrowed his eyes at Daryl then looked quickly at Victoria, "When you want the company of educated people I'll be outside." Then he turned and left the room.
"Did you have to do that?" Victoria asked.
"Do what?" Daryl asked playing dumb.
"Act like you tower above him." She glared at him.
"He your boyfriend?" he asked.
"What's that matter to you?" she almost snapped.
"Nothing." He stood up and turned to leave her alone, just before he turned back and looked at her, his eyes soft, "He's ain't good enough for you." Then he left.
For a moment Victoria felt her heart drop it sounded like Daryl still cared, but then anger filled her. How dare he. How dare he tell her that after he pushed her away? How dare he push his thoughts on her now? She stood up and hurried after him.
"Don't you dare!" she yelled to his back, "Don't you dare say that!"
"Say what?" He turned and looked at her confused.
"That he isn't good enough for me." She shook her head, "You lost that right years ago when you left!"
Daryl turned to look her in the eyes, "We both know you ain't no good and picking 'em."
"What's that even mean?" she growled.
"You never once actually picked a guy that was good for you, never once." He told her his eyes on hers. "Obviously your husband was no good, all those men I always saved you from back then. He handed you off to them."
"You don't even know what is good for me." She shook her head. "If you did you wouldn't count yourself among those men."
"I was just like those men, you don't think I ever had those thoughts about you?" he asked her, "How fragile you were? How easily I could just push you onto the bed and do what I wanted with you no matter if you wanted it or not."
"You never thought that." She glared at him, "I know you haven't you aren't that man, even if you want to believe you are. Never once have you ever believed in yourself."
"He's no different." Daryl told her, "That guy."
"Chris has been nothing but kind." Victoria told him.
"Kind, because he's like all men, he just wants one thing." Daryl stepped closer to her. "All guys want it, no one man is any different."
"Now you sound like Rachel." She tried to stay man at him, but as he got closer to her she felt her heart quicken. Just how long could she stay mad at him while he was this close to her? "You never pushed for it." She whispered.
"I wanted to." He told her.
"But you didn't" her voice cracked as she felt like her heart would beat from her chest.
"Just find someone good, plenty of good men here." Daryl told her.
"Where?" she stepped closer to him.
"Rick." He mumbled, "Rick is a good man."
"I have no interest in Rick he would have left me to die, he isn't as good as you want to believe." She told him.
"He's a better man than Chris." Daryl almost whispered, "A better man than me."
"You saved me." She told him.
"You have a way of gettin' yourself into trouble." He told her.
"Maybe I always knew it was the only way for you to find me, it worked in the past." She wanted to step closer, but any closer and she would be standing on top of him.
"That your plan?" he whispered, "Putting yourself in danger until I save you?"
"Maybe."
Daryl shook his head, "I ain't always gunna be there." He told her
"I should go." she whispered, "Chris is waiting."
"If that's what you want" Daryl muttered as he took a step back from her.
"He's a nice man." She told him, "And he wants to be with me. I'll always love you Daryl, but it hurts to love you hurts to much."
"Ain't said nuthin 'bout lovin' me." He growled at her.
"Just let me be happy Daryl, stop judging Chris." She told him, "Stop making me doubt him."
"Ain't good if I can convince you to doubt him." Daryl told her, "Do you even care for him?"
"Of course I do!" she told him.
He moved quickly making her back up to a wall. "Then go to him."
"Y-y-you-Your- blocking my path." She stammered feeling his chest pushed up against hers.
"Do you want me to step aside?" he asked.
"I-er-I." she muttered.
"Speak up." He moved his head closer to hers.
"Y-y-yes."
Daryl sighed and took a step back, "As you wish princess." Then he turned and left her standing alone in the hallway.
"So what did you think?" Victoria asked with a smile as she closed the front door looking at her sister.
Rachel took a moment to answer, "He seems nice enough."
"Nice enough?" Victoria frowned, "That's all you have to say?"
"It's just I-" she paused, "Mother and father would approve of this one."
"So what?" Victoria folded her arms on her chest.
"This is just the first time you've brought anyone home that I would even think they would like." Rachel shrugged her shoulders, "If you like him then that's good, perhaps you need a good strait edged guy to keep you from partying."
"I don't party that much." Victoria rolled her eyes.
"Of course you don't" Rachel replied sarcastically.
"Don't like him." Daryl said leaning in the doorway of the living room.
"Nobody asked you." Victoria snapped.
Daryl shrugged his shoulders ignoring Victoria he looked at Rachel, "I won't be here tomorrow if that's alright. Got to go visit my brudder."
"That's fine." Rachel told him with a soft smile. These two confused her more then anything. Not to long ago they were sitting across the table making googly eyes at each other and now they were back to their old selves of hating one another. The two gave her whiplash.
"Anyways I'm bringing Andrew to the anniversary party." Victoria told her.
"You are going to introduce him to mom and dad?"" Rachel frowned, "This soon?"
"Yes. Is that a problem?" Victoria crossed her arms and looked her sister in the eye.
"No I suppose not." She sighed, "If you really see a future with him then I guess he should meet mom and dad."
Victoria smirked in the direction of Daryl then turned on her heal and went upstairs to her room.
Daryl sighed and looked at Rachel, "Don't like that guy."
"He seems nice." Rachel told him.
"Seems nice, ain't nice." Daryl told her, "You girls don't know nothin' 'bout the real world."
"Excuse me?" Rachel asked almost offended by him.
"He may seem like a gentleman, but something don't sit right 'bout him." Daryl told the oldest sister, "I feel it."
"Or are you jealous?" Rachel asked.
Daryl let out a laugh, "Jealous? Of anyone with Victoria?" he shook his head, "Feel bad for the sorry sap that falls for her."
"That's my sister you're talking about." Rachel sighed, "But I suppose you are right, she is a bit difficult."
"A bit?" Daryl asked as he shook his head a grin forming on his face, "I'd say more then a bit." Then his grin faded, "I just worry she has a habit of getting herself in with the wrong kind of people."
"This one is different." Rachel tried to sound sure of herself, but she knew what Daryl talked about. "He's just what mother and father describe as the perfect guy."
"Ain't no such thing." Daryl told her, "Just like there ain't no perfect woman." His eyes followed the stairs in the direction Victoria had gone. Once the words left his mouth he knew there was someone who did seem perfect to him, one that he couldn't help but see the moment he tried to imagine what a perfect woman would look like. When he thought of perfection he saw Victoria, he could see her smile and her eyes light up, he could hear her laugh.
"Think what you must Daryl, but I think Victoria finally found one of the good ones." The older sister told him.
"My gut is hardly ever wrong." Daryl muttered as he walked away from Rachel not letting her utter an answer.
"I don't like that guy." Chris told Victoria as they sat outside enjoying the warm sun. "I don't trust him."
"Who?" Victoria asked looking at him, "Daryl?" Images of Daryl up against her made her heart race.
"Yeah him."
"Without him none of this would be possible." She told him, "This whole place his group found this, they accepted us."
"You like him don't you?" Chris looked over at his girlfriend.
"It's not like you think." She sighed, "I came here before you did back when Rick wouldn't accept new comers to this community. He would have left me for dead, but Daryl he spoke up."
"He's the one that brought you back here?" Chris asked.
"Carried me out of that store." She thought of that day, when Daryl lifted her into his arms and for the first time in years she had felt safe. He was everything she hadn't dared hope. Now here they were living in the same community, but he still felt a million miles away. He pretended not to know her, but just knowing he was close by made her feel safe.
"I can't imagine him saving people, he's such an ass." Chris sighed, "But if he saved you then he can't be all that bad."
"Yeah." Victoria sighed as she thought of all the times Daryl had been there for her in the past. "He's more than meets the eye."
Chris shook his head, "What ever you say." Then he leaned forward and kissed her.
"I think they love you." Victoria smiled at her boyfriend of two months, "Mother and father that is."
"Not your sister." He looked down at her and he kissed her.
"She's just protective." She tried to take a step back, but his hand gripped tighter to her arm, "hey, that hurts."
"Then don't pull away from me." He whispered into her ear.
"Rachel could walk in.," she told him.
"We are the only ones here, Rachel is driving her friend home." He smirked, "Just us."
"Andrew." Victoria tried to step away again but couldn't get away from his strong hands as he pushed her down on her bed.
"So beautiful." He grinned at her as he climbed on top, "So beautiful."
"Stop!" She almost yelled at him, "Andrew!"
"Shut up." He growled, "Did you really expect me to wait any longer? You being a tease in that dress." He pushed the dress down exposing her chest his grin got even bigger. "Stop struggling and you will enjoy this."
"No! No!" She tried to hit him but he grabbed both her hands and pinned them above her head.
"You will love the feeling of me inside you." He told her, "Or at least learn to love it." He laughed.
"Please stop don't" She felt his left hand take up both her own keeping them pinned, but his free hand moved to the bottom of her dress touching her thigh. Hot tears fell down her face. This was really happening her first time was going to be by force. She couldn't understand why. Why was he doing this? He was everything her parents had wanted for her, good looking, rich, and a charmer why was he forcing himself on her.
"You want this." He whispered to her, "If you didn't you wouldn't have worn that dress."
"Let go of me!" She tried to pull away from him, but realized it was no use she wouldn't be able to get away from him. She felt exposed knowing her bare chest was in full view of the monster. She closed her eyes knowing what came next she was ready for pain, but it never came. Instead of his hands she heard him yell as he let go of her quickly. She took her hands and tried to cover herself the best she could. She could hear Andrew in pain she could tell someone else was in the room, hitting another. Her eyes adjusted to see Andrew pinned against a wall and another man hitting him. She felt her heart jump when she realized it was Daryl she knew in that moment she was safe.
"Man it was all in good fun." Andrew gasp as Daryl dropped him to the ground.
"Ain't no fun beatin' on a girl." Daryl growled, "pathetic piece of shit."
"She wanted it!" Andrew winced.
"I could kill you for this." Daryl growled.
"Let him go." Victoria whimpered, "Please just make him leave."
Daryl frowned and grabbed Andrews collar and dragged him to his feet, "Get outta here, and don't ever let me see you again." He threw Andrew out of the bedroom watching the man hit the ground hard. He jumped to his feet and hurried out of the house.
Victoria began to sob as her body shook realizing what had almost happened. She had been so wrong about Andrew so very wrong. He had fooled everyone including her parents, but not Rachel and not Daryl. She felt arms wrap around her strong arms that weren't there to attack her, but protect her. She leaned into his arms and cried into his chest. She knew she was safe now, but that didn't stop her tears.
"It's alright." She heard Daryl mutter to her, "Everything be alright princess."
"You got here just in time." She sobbed.
"I'll keep you safe." He whispered to her, "Don't you worry." He took his leather jacket off and wrapped in around her, "Your sister is back." He said noticing the headlights through the window, "Want me to get her?"
"No." She whispered, "Please just stay here. If you're here he won't come back please just lay with me. Just lock the door so Rachel doesn't come in."
"As you wish, princess." He told her as he walked over to the door and switched the lock. He walked back to her bed where she now lay. He got on the bed with her and let her lean into his arms. He didn't know how long it took for her tears to subside, but once they did he glanced down to see her face peacefully sleeping. He kissed the top of her head as he then let himself fall asleep holding her tight wanting nothing to every happen to her again. He wanted to protect her from everything bad in the world.
"I feel fine." Daryl told Rick.
"You almost died." Rick told him, "Stay here."
Daryl sighed he was about to argue more, but then two people caught his eye. Victoria and Chris he felt his fist clench he hated seeing them together. He knew he wasn't good enough for Victoria but neither was Chris. "I need to get outta here." Daryl told Rick. Rick turned his head to see what had grabbed Daryl's attention.
"You care for her don't you?" Rick asked.
"No." Daryl muttered.
"It was more than a moral code that made you save her." Rick told rather than asked.
"No."
"You knew her before didn't you?" Rick asked.
"I worked for her family." Daryl muttered, "When my brother was in jail."
"She was more than just an employer though?"
"I worked for her sister, she was just there always getting' in trouble." Daryl shook his head, "Ain't nuthin' changed 'bout that."
"You kept her out of trouble back than didn't you? That's why she wanted you to live." Rick stated rather than asked, "Because you saved her she wanted to save you, that's how she knew so much about you, that's why she always visited you. You meant something to her."
"Maybe once a long time ago, but she ain't never meant nuthin' to me." Daryl lied.
"Are you sure about that?" Rick asked glancing over at the girl and another man. He saw the way Daryl looked at the couple. He knew Daryl well he knew when the gruff man was lying. "It's not wrong to love someone in this world."
"Girls like her, don't end up with guys like me." Daryl muttered, "They end up with guys like that."
"Maybe in the past, but the world isn't how it once was. That guy over there I doubt he could truly protect her when it counts."
"Girls don't always need protecting" Maggie's called from around the car they were packing.
"I just mean now it doesn't matter where you come from or who you used to be, all that matters is the here and now. What kind of person you are now and what you are willing to do to protect those around you. That guy over there, he has no chance of lookin' out for anyone, let alone himself." Rick said, "If you truly care for her Daryl, then go to her, fight for her."
"Even if I did care for her, after everythin' I have done to her, all the pain I put her through. There ain't no way we can have what we used to. The fire just ain't there. In either of us. She ain't the girl I used to know and I ain't the man she knew."
"You're probably a better man now then you were back then." Maggie said as she came around the car looking at them.
Daryl glared at her, "The girl I used to know had so much fire, so many smiles. And when she was angry, boy ain't no one wanted to cross her. The girl over there, is so broken. So lost." Daryl shook his head, "And it's my fault she's that way, if only I was there to keep her safe. I knew she couldn't do it herself, never could. Always needin' someone to look after her. I promised I would be there, and I wasn't."
"That isn't your fault." Maggie told him, "Life happens, the good and the bad. Some people are just given better cards."
"I shoulda been there for her, I shoulda protected her." Daryl looked over to Victoria and Chris as they laughed.
"We all make mistakes, Daryl, we all should have done something better in our past, but it only stays a mistake if we don't try and fix it, if we allow our mistakes to sit as they are and not make them right." Rick told his friend.
"Nothin' matters now. She's happy." Daryl muttered, "For the most part."
"for the most part?" Maggie asked.
"She laughs." Daryl told Maggie, "But not truly laughs, She smiles, but not truly smiles."
"I don't understand." Maggie frowned.
Daryl shrugged, "When she used to smile and laugh you could see her happiness radiate through her eyes. I haven't seen that from her not ones, not yet. She seems broken. Happy, but broken. Time does that to everyone, but it-" he paused surprised he was surprised he was even talking to these two about how he really felt, this wasn't like him. Maybe Victoria was right, maybe without trying he had truly found himself a real family. "It breaks my heart to know who she used to be and who she is now, what horrors she has seen, what horrible things happened to her."
"Then make things right." Rick told his friend as he put the last gun in the car.
"No. She said it earlier, lovin' me hurts, I just need to step back and allow her to be happy without me."
"If that's what you think is best." Maggie sighed as she got into the car.
"Come on." Rick sighed, "I suppose you do need to get out of this place for a while."
It had been a little over a month since the incident with Andrew. Victoria hadn't wanted to file and reports about what happened, she blamed it on the drinks her ex had drank. She also didn't want to tell anyone what happened, she felt ashamed and dirty for getting herself in the situation. She was upset with herself, how many times would she put herself in those types of situations? How had she not seen what Andrew truly was sooner?
Her mind flashed to Daryl that night. She had been so wrong about him when she had first laid eyes on her, she had thought he would have been the type to try and force himself on her, yet time and time again he proved to be her knight in shinning armor. She expected him to bring up that night, but he never did he acted like it never happened. He spent the whole night holding her and never once pushing for anything more. He simply allowed her to feel safe, he allowed her to cry until she couldn't cry anymore. He stayed with her through the night while she slept in his arms. What kind of man did that? He didn't expect anything in return. Instead he just simply made sure she was all right.
Victoria watched as Daryl repaired the old truck he drove in the driveway. He was a silent man, hardly saying a word unless he was spoken to and even more so since that night. He hardly talked to her.
A few days after the attack he touched her slightly to get her attention and her hand had automatically pulled away a reflex she couldn't fight ever since that night Andrew had attacked her. She felt guilty the moment she saw the look on his face as he pulled his hand away from hers as fast as he could. She knew he would never admit it, but his expression showed a quick flash of hurt, ever since that moment he seemed to pull away from her. He hadn't talked to her much, hadn't even tried to make fun of her. He simply stayed away.
Victoria wished she could tell him she didn't want him to be away from her, she wished she could tell him that she didn't ever want him to be far for she felt the safest when she was with him. When he held her that night she felt like nothing could hurt her, she felt like she would always be safe as long as she had him to always watch over her like her very own guardian angel.
Her own stubborn streak would never allow her to admit how she wanted him around her all the time. She wouldn't even admit to herself she longed for him to hold her again, she would never admit she was falling for him.
Victoria excused herself from Chris and walked away to the bathroom. She got inside and splashed cold water on her face. She couldn't help but feel defeated. She tried to fight the panic that always washed over her body as Chris touched her more then a simple hug, when ever his hands began to ask for more she felt her body grow stiff involuntarily. She didn't want that reaction when he kissed her, when he moved his hands on her, but she couldn't help it. She knew it was simple. She didn't fully trust Chris and wondered if she ever would. Daryl's words echoed in her ears. He didn't trust the other man. How many times had Daryl told her a guy wasn't good for her? Every single time she had brought a guy home when he had lived with them. And how many of those times had Daryl been right? Every single time.
She knew without a doubt if Daryl had ever met her late husband before she had married him he would have never allowed it. Daryl would have seen right through the monster of a man.
Yet, Chris seemed so kind to her. Sure he didn't like Daryl, but Victoria knew it had more to do with what Chris could sense between her and Daryl. After she had admitted to being in a relationship with Daryl to Rachel she remembered her sister smiling and saying finally. Rachel always seemed to know how Victoria really felt, she had explained even an untrained eye could see and feel the electricity that seemed to flow from Victoria to Daryl.
They had an unspoken connection and while Victoria knew it was far weaker then it was back then it would never truly be gone. Daryl and her would always be connected and always be in love, but she because you loved someone didn't mean you had to be together.
The two of them were like gas on a flame. While it burned hot and bright for a short time it could also be a disaster. They were two very different people and for that reason they had fallen truly and erratically in love, but that was also the reason there had been so much pain between them. They were from two different worlds and Daryl had broken under the stress of trying to be part of hers.
He never seemed to believe that she didn't care if he didn't fit into her world because she never saw two worlds that they each belonged to, instead she had always wanted to make her own world with him. She didn't care about her family, the only one she cared about was Rachel and Rachel had always wanted her to end up with Daryl.
She tried to push Chris into her mind, to think of him and only him. She couldn't help but wonder if Rachel would approve of him. Yet she knew Rachel wouldn't Rachel never approved of anyone except Daryl. She remembered her wedding day the fight the two girls had, the one that left their relationship broken and never allowed it to heal.
"You can't do this." Rachel said as she pleaded with her sister, "You don't love him."
"Yes I do." Victoria turned to her sister, "Why can't you just be happy for me, I finally found the man I can spend the rest of my life with."
"There is something about him." The other woman said, "The look in his eyes I just don't like it."
Victoria rolled her eyes, "You say that about everyone."
"Not everyone." Rachel sighed.
"Don't bring him up." Victoria turned away from the mirror she was looking in and glared at her sister, "You were wrong about him, he was no better then any of the other men in my past."
"He was far better and you know that." Rachel told her.
"No I don't. He was right all along, we never would have worked out, I'm used to this life style. Do you think I could be having a wedding like this if I was marrying him?"
"You don't really care about that, don't try and fool me." Her older sister snapped back at her, "I know you, the real you the one that seems to have all but disappeared the night Daryl left!"
"Why can't you just be happy for me?" Victoria asked.
"Because I can see you aren't happy, all his money seems to have blinded you he has showered you in gifts and I think you love what he can give you more then you love him." Rachel was almost yelling now.
"How dare you!" Victoria gasped, "I love him!"
"Then why don't you look at him the way you looked at Daryl?" Rachel's voice got quieter, "And why doesn't he look at you the way Daryl used to. Back when we were all together at my home I used to be so jealous of the way he looked at you I longed for someone to look at me that way just one more time. But you don't find that kind of love often. I had it with my husband and he is gone now, and you had it with Daryl. I don't want you to make the biggest mistake of your life by walking away from that!"
"I didn't walk away." Victoria growled, "He did and all I can do now is move on."
"There is no man in this world that will ever be good for you, other then Daryl. I promise you he is the man that you will always love and he will always love you. Some time in the future you two will be drawn together again, and I don't want you to regret this decision now. You know as well as I do if he showed up here today you wouldn't go through with this marriage." Rachel's voice was soft now.
"Last time I saw him I told him if he left there would be nothing to come back to. Rachel he isn't coming back he never will. It's time I moved on with my life. If you can't be happy for me then just leave."
"I'm sorry." Rachel shook her head sadly, "I can't stand by and pretend to be happy as you make the biggest mistake of you life." Rachel said as she turned away and walked out of the room.
Victoria shook her head tears filling her eyes. That was the last time she had spoken to her sister. She knew Rachel would never approve of Chris because she had always believed no matter how hard things got that Daryl was the man Victoria should have ended up with. Even now if Rachel was here she would be pushing the two towards each other and keeping Chris out of the picture.
"I'll be right there." Daryl's voice broke through her thoughts. Quickly as to not be caught by Daryl she slipped into one of the stalls and shut the door. She heard Daryl come in so she glanced in between the edges of the stall. She could see Daryl glance around before he lifted his shirt.
Daryl grunted as she showed his side into the mirror. He frowned seeing that is had started to bleed again. He knew it wasn't healing the way it should be. He knew he should go see Hershel, not seeing the old man had brought Daryl into the situation he had just gotten out of, but he couldn't bring himself to complain about anything when Hershel was dealing with the new flue that seemed to be affecting people. He just didn't find his injury as important as those who were actually dying. He let his shirt fall back down and sighed. He knew he still wasn't back to his fit and ready form. When he moved too much it was still hard to breath, his lungs just didn't seem to fill with enough air when he pushed himself.
"You're still hurt." Victoria pushed the door of the stall open.
"Fuck." Daryl almost jumped, "What ya doin' in there?"
"Sorry I didn't know who was coming in here." Victoria lied, "I just panicked I don't know."
Daryl grunted and turned to leave.
"Where are you going?" she asked stepping after her.
"Out, supply run."
"You can't go!" she almost yelled, "You aren't healed yet!"
"I'm healed enough" he muttered.
"Daryl." Victoria walked over to him and picked up his shirt, "This isn't ok. You need to rest."
"I'm fine." He tried to growl at her, but she was standing so close to him he couldn't bring himself to get mad at her. All he wanted to do was pull her even closer and never let her go.
"No you aren't." She whispered taking a step closer, "Please Daryl I couldn't bare it if anything happened to you."
"Yes you could." He muttered. "Life goes on, your life goes on. Even without me."
"But I never wanted it to." She said softly.
Daryl stepped closer to her; she couldn't help but stumble backwards so her back pushed up against the wall. Daryl spoke softly, "Is there anything here to keep my mind off the supply run."
Victoria didn't answer it was like all the air had left her lungs and she couldn't form any words. This wasn't like when Chris touched her or when any guys touched her. Instead of feeling fear she felt a fire when his skin touched hers, she longed for him to be even closer to her. Daryl turned to leave, but she caught his arm with her hand.
"Don't go." she whispered as she stepped closer to him. "Don't go."
Daryl turned around and looked at her, before he couldn't her lips met his he knew he should pull away from her, but he couldn't. He had longed to hold Victoria in his arms and now here she was.
He remembered once making a promise after the dead first started to walk that if he ever found her he would hold on to her with everything he had. That he would never let her go once more. Yet here he was fighting the feelings he had for her, fighting everything that they had together. He half expected her to pull away after everything that happened in her past, but she never did.
Victoria didn't care about all the awful men that had hurt her in the past. She didn't even see them in her mind anymore. This was different from when she tried to be with Chris. She trusted Daryl with every part of her body she trusted that he would never hurt her.
"Daryl!" Rick's voice called. "You coming."
Daryl broke away from Victoria for only a minute, "Go on with out me." He called out, "Ain't feelin' up to it."
"Alright." Rick's voice sounded relived as his footsteps left down the hallway.
"Are you feeling up to this?" Victoria asked.
"Are you sure about this?" he answered with a question.
"I'm more sure about wanting to be with you then I am anything else in this world." She whispered.
"Then we shouldn't do this hear." He muttered, "Not in a dirty bathroom." He took her hand and led her away. Victoria followed him as he led her away and up into the crows' nest. "Ain't no one comin' here for a while." He whispered as he pulled her down on the blankets and pillows that lay on the floor.
