As the months passed Rima started making lots of friends. It seemed all relationships in her life were blooming into something great. Excepting the relation between her and her parents. Because of all her friends she was getting better. She didn't get panic attacks anymore, and she almost never felt lonely or abandoned anymore.
She and Shouta got much closer, and Rima even made friends with the wavy-brown haired girl. Her name was Risa Akai and she loved jokes as much as Rima did. Risa was just a little...hard boiled at the begging. Rima also seemed to grow up a lot over those months. Before she had acted more like a baby because everyone treated her like she was a helpless person. Now she was more mature.
It was no surprise her relationship with Nagihiko was going along great. Now sometimes they could go outside and play without Rima's parents finding out. Most of the time though, Rima and Nagihiko just sat together and talked. Everything was just...perfect.
"I'm really excited about the summer!" Rima declared one day after school.
"I am too." Nagihiko said looking up from his book. Nagi always had a spot on the floor where her leaned up against Rima's bed. Sometimes he did homework there to keep busy until she got home. Other times he brought a book or some paper but he was always parked there on the floor.
"Mom and Dad are going to hire a baby sitter so they don't have to skip any work days. I bet they're going to hire some teenager who's just in it for the money and will stay on the phone the entire time she's here. That means we could play together. Of course there's an off chance they would get a male baby-sitter. I doubt it though, my parents probably not trust him." Rima said as she paced around the room.
While she talked she went through her usual after school routine. She put down her bag near the door, then put her shoes in the closet, peeled off her socked and dumped them in her hamper. Then she would put on some low-cut socks and plop down on the bed.
"Other then that there's two other problems. My parents might actually pick out a baby sitter who's responsible and takes care of me, in that case maybe we can trick her into thinking you come over all the time to play. She might mention to my parents though, so it's risky. The second problem is they might get some strict Nanny but I seriously doubt it."
"You've really thought this through haven't you?" Nagihiko asked setting down his book.
"Yup. I haven't stopped thinking about it since this morning. I can't wait to meet who ever it is!" Rima said rolling over.
The rest of the evening was spent talking about baby sitters. Rima had never needed one before so she mostly listened to Nagihiko's stories. Mom called Rima down for dinner and they said their good-byes as usual.
"I'll see you tomorrow." Rima said turning to her door. She had a feel on the door knob when she was pulled back. Nagihiko pulled Rima back and hugged her tight. Rima was surprised as his arms wrapped around her. For a minute she stood there being held by him. Then she lifted her small arms and hugged him back.
Rima's heart was beating fast and her face felt hot. She could feel Nagihiko's pulse, it was beating almost as fast as Rima's.
"Bye." He whispered.
"B-b-b-" Rima stuttered.
"RIMA!" Mother called from downstairs. Rima turned around in response to her mother's call. When she turned back to see Nagihiko he was already gone.
"Bye." She said softly.
That night Nagihiko slipped down the ally ways from Rima's house back to his own. When he arrived his mother was waiting for him.
"Mother?" He asked. She looked his way and smiled.
"Welcome home Nagihiko." She said. It surprised Nagihiko that she addressed him by his name instead of by Nadeshiko.
"Thank you." He said politely stepping inside. Nagihiko's Mother closed the door behind him and sat down at the table.
"I have something to tell you, so please get comfortable." She lifted her arm and gestured at the seat across the table. Nagihiko did as asked and sat down.
"We're going to do renovations on the house." She began. "It will start in august and last about a year. So we're temporarily going to live with some relatives."
"Alright." Nagihiko said. He didn't know they had relatives in town, it might be fun to meet some family.
"They live a little far away. So you'll be transferring schools. You'll go to Shiro Elementary for 5th grade and return to Seiyo for middle school. Attending as Nadeshiko of course." She finished.
Nagihiko listened carefully to her words and replayed them in his head. He must have heard wrong. "Would you repeat that?" He asked.
"Nadeshiko will be attending Shiro Elementary next year during the renovations." Mother repeated. Nagihiko felt himself fall into a daze.
"Thank you for telling me Mother." He said airily. Nagihiko rose and stumbled back to his room. He never thought he and Rima would actually go to the same school, so he never considered her finding out about his secret. Nagihiko crawled under his covers that night, and died. Not really but mentally, his social life with Rima was over!
Before Halloween I didn't have time to write, then after Halloween I got lazy and ultimately forgot this story was still going. Just tonight I remembered and scrambled to write this. I'm going to be writing all night to try and catch up. I guess real time caught up with the story. It's been four month since I last posted and about two in the story. I'M REALLY SORRY AND INTEND TO FINISH THIS!$%!
