Ever since I was a little girl, I've had a fascination with planes and the sky. The way they move so freely into the air, the vast space that the sky has above. I feel free whenever I look at it. Even on a cloudy day, I love the sky. What hidden wonders hide in the clouds?
I had to find out.
On the farm my grandparents owned, I sat at the fence, looking at the planes that flew by freely. I wanted to be in one, to see the ground from so high up. One day, I took a daikon from the bushel that we had on our kitchen table and planted it in the ground. I told myself that I'll fly one day, and use this vegetable as an indicator of how long it will take. When I finally fly, I'll pull you out from the soil, my dear daikon.
So I waited. Day by day going on with my life as usual. Days became weeks,
Then months,
And then years.
By that point, I had enrolled in piloting school, young and full of hope and optimism. I always checked to make sure that the daikon I planted was watered properly. My parents did just that for me when I couldn't make it to the farm. It had grown very long from the look of its leaves. I knew it was going to be time to pick it soon.
And that time came a lot sooner that I'd thought. I flew my first plane above the area where our farm was located. The mountains, the trees, the woods, the lakeside, all of it was in my sight at once. I felt happy. Tears rolled from my eyes as I witnessed this. I had finally flown.
At graduation, I took a picture with the plane I flew and then again, a picture with the daikon I planted so long ago. It was twice as long as me! I didn't want to eat it, so I preserved it and hung it on my wall as a memento. From there on, I had no idea on what to do next. A friend suggested to me that I become a mechanic, building the same planes I piloted in. I knew what I wanted to do then.
Building not just planes, but something bigger than any plane could ever accomplish. I didn't know if I could do it, but I wanted to try.
That's when I finally met Snake. He pushed me to make the SuperCola Powered airship. From that day on, I dedicated my life to making it work.
