Hello, my lovely readers. This chapter is for all of you Kolvina shippers with a few more familiar faces as we head toward the final two chapters of this fic. ;) On with the show.

Chapter 30: I'll Be Kissing You at Dawn

Courage. He needed to be courageous. Just bloody well go up to her and ask the bloody question. Not pace outside the gym like some kind of freak. Kol sucked in a breath and blew it out. Taking hold of the door, to his right, he opened it with a swing outward. "Watch it!" Hayley snapped, glaring at him before walking in with a large box, stuffed with decorations. "I thought you said you were too busy to help decorate for tonight?"

"I am," Kol replied, glancing across the room at the girl at the top of a tall ladder. The girl laughed while her friend, waved a paper star at her. "I'm here for something else."

"Of course you are." Hayley rolled her eyes, setting the box down on a table and began to remove bobbles and trinkets from it. "Go!" She waved him in the girl's direction.

Kol nodded. Most girls thought him handsome and charming. Everyone loved Kol. He was laidback and friendly. Bit of a joker. But she made him nervous, threw him off his game. He almost tripped on his way over to her. His damned feet would cause him to make an ass out of himself and he'd never be able to look her in the eye again.

"Josh, quit," Davina giggled from atop the ladder.

"I can't help it. Romeo and Juliet? Why not Carrie? Elena can flip out and kill us all, without the pig's blood," Josh called up to Davina who shook her head. "Or Hayley might if she doesn't win prom queen, thanks to dating Elijah He-Scares-Us-All Mikaelson. Oh, hey, Kol, brother of Elijah. Funny seeing you here. Hayley said you've got a violent and super contagious strain on the flu. You don't, do you, because I paid a LOT for my tux rental and booked a room for myself and my date tonight."

"No, I don't have the flu." Kol shook his head. "I was helping Klaus out with a project but got done early." He hoped that Klaus would cover for him. He'd been too sick with worry to come to the gym to help, knowing he'd see Davina there and he thought he might say something stupid, trying to work up his nerve to ask her to prom tonight.

Davina glanced down at him. "Hi, Kol!" she waved at him.

"Hi, Davina," Kol waved back, grinning like the idiot that being around her had made him into lately.

"Josh, do you mind if I take over. I have something to ask Davina." Kol gave Josh a meaningful look.

For a moment, Josh did not seem to get it. Then his eyes widened. "Oh, yeah. Sure. I've got to check and see if there are enough basketballs for gym…next Monday." Hurrying off, Josh went to count the balls, catching Hayley's attention who yelled at him to help her.

"So…" Davina climbed down the ladder, stopping when they were eye-to-eye. Kol held the ladder, his arms encasing her body, he had a crazy urge to kiss her. They'd been on a couple of dates over the last three months and they had gone well. The only problem was that she did not seem to register that they were dates, so much as two friends, going out together.

Davina eyed him with a smile. "What did you want to ask me?" she leaned her face into her right hand which encircled the right side of the ladder.

"I wanted to know…what theme you would have gone with, if you'd had a choice?" Kol wanted to kick himself for asking such a stupid question.

"I would have gone with something funny…like Much Ado about Nothing." Davina told him. "Or why not do something from our time period like…umm…The Notebook?"

"You want to forget about your epic love?" Kol teased her.

Davina laughed. "No! Okay. Let's see. Umm…"

"Prom Night! Sadistic teacher obsessed with teenage girl kills her friends, trying to make her into his love or kill her, whichever one works for him," Kol suggested.

Davina shook her head. "No, definitely not. Come on. There's like a billion movies that have come out."

"Ten Things I Hate About You?" Kol asked her.

"That's old," Davina retorted.

"Maybe you're too young," Kol replied.

"That's mean," Davina narrowed her eyes at him.

"Go to prom with me and I'll spend the night making it up to you," Kol's words came out quickly but had the desired impact.

"You want me, to go to prom, with you?" Davina's lips pursed in a round O. "When you could take a billion other girls? You want me? Is this a joke, Kol, because that's so not funny?"

"No, it's not a joke." Kol leaned closer to Davina. "Just say yes, darling."

"Yes," Davina said and then leapt on him. "YES!" she cried loudly, causing other people in the gym to turn to stare at them. "Yes, yes, yes!"

"Davina Claire, you have made me a very happy man," Kol told her, setting her on her feet and kissing her forehead.

"I don't have a dress," Davina cried, looking panicked.

"I bought you one. Just in case," Kol informed her. Davina's eyes rounded and she leapt on him again. He grabbed her. They'd had plenty of practice after he joined the team. Her feet hooked around his waist, fingers lacing through his hair and he kissed her on the lips, feeling his heart pound in his chest while other people in the gym cheered.

"Break it up. Break it up!" Hayley called. "Davina, you're still on decoration duty. Kol, get the hell out of here! You're a distraction!" She shouted at him as Elijah came in, strode over and grabbed the head cheerleader.

"Now that she's properly distracted," Kol whispered, setting Davina on her feet. "I want to say that I'll pick you up at eight. Sound good?"

"Sounds fabulous," Davina enthused, yanking him back down and kissing him before letting go.

Kol could not stop smiling on his way out of the school. Tonight would be the best prom he'd been to and he'd gone to all of them since his freshman year.

Handing the dry cleaning bag with Davina's dress to Rebekah; he grabbed his sister's wrist. "Don't let it get ruined along the way, Bekah," he begged her.

Rebekah scoffed. "Kol, I'm going all of six blocks to Hayley's. I think the precious dress will be okay." She pulled away from him.

Kol sighed, it was out of his hands now. Hayley, Davina, Rebekah, Liv, Caroline, Elena and Bonnie were getting ready at Hayley's for this year's prom. Over at his house, it was complete chaos with Klaus, Elijah, Kol, Damon, Marcel, Enzo and Tyler getting ready for their dates.

Klaus took more time than any of them fixing his hair. "Take the curlers out and move your ass!" Damon shouted. "The limo's here and the driver is being paid by the millisecond!"

"Then ask Elena to pay for it with her Damon's Cash Fund!" Klaus shouted back through the closed bathroom door.

"Get out of there!" Elijah bellowed. "I look like an idiot and I'd like to get this over with!"

"Calm down, brother," Kol called to Elijah. "You look gorgeous."

"Ha!" Damon laughed until Elijah grabbed him by the shirt collar, hefting him in the air and against the nearest wall. "Okay. Okay! I'm shutting up now. Let me go!" Damon choked out.

Five minutes later, they were on their way out the door. Klaus kept grumbling about whether or not pink was his color. "Be a man and suck it up," Marcel snapped. "You picked it."

"No, I lost a bet with Elena and she picked it," Klaus retorted as they climbed into the backseat.

Kol felt nervous on their way to Hayley's house. He kept drumming his fingers on his legs. "Stop fidgeting," Elijah ordered him, glaring from his side of the limo. He plucked a bottle of champagne and filled a glass, handing it to Kol before pouring himself one. Damon took another and Klaus poured himself a drink. Soon Kol began to relax.

When the car parked, Kol got out first because he was the closest to the door. Elijah hit the doorbell, harder than he had to and waited. Hayley's father answered. "Hello, gentlemen!" he greeted them, holding a camera in his hands. He clicked away as they entered.

Elijah moved to the bottom of the staircase and headed up. "They're almost ready. It'd be better if you waited for their grand entrance," Hayley's dad called after Elijah who paused.

Someone actually caused Elijah to listen. Kol might die of the shock. He watched his older brother walk back down the stairs and stop by the bottom, waiting, his face set in a scowl. When Hayley stopped at the top of the staircase, his expression changed and Kol smiled, seeing his brother looking so happy. It had been too long.

"You like?" Hayley asked, posing on the last step.

"Love," Elijah replied, pulling her into his arms and kissing her.

"Elijah, my dad's right there," Hayley said, nodding toward her dad.

Caroline came down in a red dress that made Klaus let out a whistle.

Bonnie appeared in a green dress, taking Enzo's arm when she arrived at the bottom of the stairs.

Elena grinned at Damon, winking at him in her blue dress before she laughed at Klaus' pink suit. "Nice!"

Liv appeared in a white dress, joining Tyler with a smile. "Hi, you," she greeted her boyfriend.

Rebekah came down, looking very much like a different girl in a long gold dress, she looked self-conscious as she looked around at everyone. "How do I look?"

"Radiant," Marcel told her.

"Like a princess," Klaus added.

"Like a Golden Globe," Elijah quipped, causing Rebekah to laugh.

"You look lovely, sister," Kol told her, kissing her on the cheek.

Davina came down in a pink lace dress that puffed outward at the waist. She pressed her lips together, walking down the stairs slowly. Kol could not take his eyes off of her. She outdid all the other girls in his eyes. "Davina," he breathed.

"Kol," she replied, smiling up at him. Taking her hand in his, he raised it to his lips and pressed a tender kiss. Davina began to giggle.

"Before you go. I want to take some pictures," Hayley's dad called.

They posed for a large, group shot before Elijah and Hayley posed for a couple for her dad. Kol took the time to marvel at Davina who began to blush. "You look stunning," he whispered to her.

"Thanks to you," Davina reminded him.

"And thanks to her hair and makeup team," Elena said, appearing next to them. "You're welcome. Don't do anything I would do. Or do. Just take this." She handed Davina a condom who glanced at Hayley's dad before shoving it in her purse. She looked up at Kol. His eyebrows rose. He hadn't really thought about sex. At least not tonight. Now, he didn't really know. Did she want to? Did he? Of course he did. He'd be mad not to want her. But was this their time?

The group headed out the front door. Inside the car, Elena began to pour more glasses with champagne; handing them out to the girls. Davina took one, carefully, sniffing it before taking a sip. She held the flute between her fingers, looking nervous when Kol took it from her, handing it back to Elena. "I want you remember tonight," he told her.

Davina grinned, moving to lean her head against his shoulder. "I do, too," she confided, glancing up at him.

The driver let them out at the school and Kol got out before offering Davina his hand. She got out and they went inside. The gym looked pretty nice. He actually liked the moons and stars they would be dancing under. Leading Davina to the dance floor, Kol pulled her close and placed his head on top of hers.

Kol's eyes were closed when someone tapped him on the shoulder. "Can I cut in?" Damon asked him.

Kol looked at Davina who looked surprised. Someone had told Kol that she had a crush on Damon last year but he hadn't thought too much of it; until Damon started acting jealous lately. "I think it's the lady's choice."

"It's okay," Davina said, stepping back and Kol felt like she'd kicked him in the shin.

"Alright." Kol backed away, pushing the hurt down. There were plenty of ladies to fill his dance card with. Going over to the punch bowl; he saw Elijah spiking it.

"Its tradition," his brother muttered under his breath. "And it's my last time to do it."

"You're graduating this year?" Kol felt shocked. It felt like forever that Elijah had been there and he half-suspected he'd graduate first.

"Yes. Say you'll miss me?" Elijah gave Kol a mocking look.

"I shall," Kol retorted, grinning.

Elijah narrowed his eyes at the dance floor. "Do you want me to beat Damon again?"

"No. Let him be," Kol replied. Davina looked happy dancing with Damon and he wanted her to be happy, always.

"Right. Where is my girl?" Elijah spotted Hayley across the room, talking to Klaus and Caroline. "Good night, brother. Do not be surprised if we leave early. We're spending the weekend at a hotel."

"And you'll be the next parents," Kol warned his brother.

"Better me than you," Elijah grinned and took off to join his girl and their brother.

Kol looked back to the dance floor. Damon was now dancing with Elena. Setting his cup down, Kol returned to the dance floor, holding out a hand to Davina. "Dance with me?"

"Thought you'd never ask again," Davina quipped, sliding into his arms.

Stefan got into a fight with someone but that was to be expected. Silas took him outside to cool off. Anna's heel broke. She and Jeremy left the dance early. Bonnie and Enzo could not stop staring into each other's eyes.

Kai appeared with a camera. "Why do you think teens still go to prom?" he asked, pointing the camera at Kol.

"Sentimental saps," Kol answered.

Kai pointed the camera at Davina. "Same question."

"I think it's because you're finishing a year and you want to celebrate all that's happened, good and bad because you're celebrating life." Davina told Kai.

"Out of the mouths of Sophmores, at Junior/Senior prom," Kai said to the camera before going to bother other students.

Davina giggled. "Was that stupid, what I said?"

"No. But a lot of students go to get drunk, because of social pressures and because they think they'll get laid at the end of the night." Kol stopped himself, looking at the ceiling. "Look at all of those stars."

"Do you think you're going to get laid?" Davina questioned Kol.

Reluctantly, Kol looked down at Davina. "Noooo…" he shook his head. "I did not think that. I… I thought that… I hoped that… I feel that…

I…"

"Do you want to have sex? Tonight?" Davina searched his eyes and Kol stared at his shoes.

Making himself calm down, Kol looked back at Davina. "Yes. I would like very much to have sex with you. Tonight or any night. This year. Next year. Five years from now. I do not want you to do that because you think I want to or that you should because it's a stupid tradition that some idiot came up with a million years ago."

Davina looked at her shoes and then looked back up at him. "Do you not want to have sex with me?" she asked, looking concerned.

"Davina, I want to be with you. I have wanted to be with you for close to a year," Kol told her, lifting her chin and kissing her. "I just think we shouldn't rush things."

"Okay," Davina said, pulling him closer and kissing him back.

They swayed together, caught up in the moment and Kol could not think of a girl that he'd rather be sharing this night with. He pulled back to rest his forehead on hers. "Would you like a drink?" he asked and then remembered that Elijah had spiked the punch.

Elena bumped into him, laughing her head off and unzipping her dress. "Elena, this is not a clothing optional event!" Damon yelled, yanking her off her feet and carrying her out of the gym.

"Hayley asked me to be the cover for, like, half the class who are going stay out all night," Davina told Kol. "And I told my mom that I'm staying at Hayley's because my mom was going out of town. Do you want to come over and help me man the phone?"

"That sounds good." Kol nodded. They left the prom and called a cab. Davina gave the driver directions to her house. When they got there, they found Josh and Aiden, sitting on her front porch.

"So, there's this thing where the hotel refused my credit card because I might have overspent on something stupid like a piñata for my cousin's birthday party. Can we stay here?" Josh asked.

Aiden smiled. "Sorry to put you out, if you planned on celebrating here."

"It's okay. We didn't plan on 'celebrating,'" Davina told them, glancing at Kol who shook his head.

Josh grinned. "Great. So there are rooms at the inn," he said.

Davina unlocked the front door, letting Kol and her friends in. She found snacks and drinks for them to share and horror films about prom to laugh at. After awhile Josh and Aiden headed upstairs to a guest bedroom.

Davina kept glancing at Kol. "I'm going to go change," she told him.

"Okay," Kol nodded.

When Davina came back, he wished he'd told her that she looked perfectly comfortable the way she was. She came downstairs in a tiny black nightgown that made him sit up straighter. She carried a blanket and pillows. "In case we get tired," she explained. She placed a blanket over her legs and tossed it over him, snuggling up to him.

"I'm actually a little too warm, love," Kol said, shoving the blanket off of him and moving away from her.

"Kol, are you okay?" Davina asked, biting her lower lip.

Kol nodded. "I'm great. Thank you." He got up. "Is that the phone?"

"Kol, sit down," Davina said, patting the couch. Kol forced himself to sit down. "Since we're officially dating, we're going to be alone at some point and we need to get used to it."

"Right," Kol relaxed, sitting back down. He put his arm back around her and glanced at her. Her lips drew his attention and he leaned down, kissing her lightly and then not so lightly. She climbed on top of him and he pulled his shirt off.

Then the phone rang and they both came up, gasping for air. "I should get that," Davina said.

"Good idea," Kol said, sitting up while she hurried off to answer the cordless. She brought it back with her, assuring Mr. Marshall that Hayley was there. Climbing back on top of Kol, they began to make out again, his hands moving under her nightgown.

The phone rang again. "Yes, Mrs. Zhou, Anna's asleep. Like a light. Yup. Good night," Davina said, hanging up and kissing Kol.

Ten minutes later, the phone rang again. "It's for you," Davina said.

"Hello," Kol answered. "Nik, use your own blasted cash. Then ask Damon. I'm busy!" Hanging up on his brother, Kol wished to be an orphan. He was only seventeen once and he wanted to enjoy it.

The phone rang again. "No, this is not Pizza Hut!" Davina snapped, hanging up. "That was Elena."

Kol began to laugh until Davina kissed him again. He stopped thinking and she kept moving around. Pulling off her nightgown, he flipped them so he was on top. "I don't know if this is the best idea in the world," he said.

"I want this, Kol. I want you. I want to have a first time I'm going to remember for the rest of my life." Davina told him.

"Right then," Kol opened her purse which sat on the coffee table beside them. He pulled out the condom that Elena had given Davina; ripping it open. The phone rang again.

Davina picked it up. "Hi, mom. Yeah. I'm fine. How's your trip? Good. Tuesday? Okay." Davina nodded along and then hung up before lying back down. "She's coming back on Tuesday."

Kol nodded, taking his pants off and getting the condom on right. He hoped that Josh or Aiden didn't come down and freak out. "You're how old?" he asked her.

"Sixteen. How old are you?" Davina asked.

"Seventeen," Kol replied.

Davina shrugged. "No big deal. Are you ready?"

"Are you?" Kol asked her.

"Yup," Davina nodded. The phone rang. "Hello, Mrs. Mikaelson. Rebekah's asleep. Yes, I swear she's here. No, Kol is not. He left with Klaus to stay at Damon's."

"No one's at Damon's," Kol reminded her.

"They'll call and Damon said that Tom and Cami are at home tonight." Davina reassured him.

"Okay. Are you sure you're ready?" Kol asked when Davina yanked him down on top of her, settling the matter. He heard her cry out and stared down at her. "You alright, love?"

"Yes," Davina said, nodding. Kol closed his eyes and continued. If someone had told him that he and Davina would be doing this tonight; he would have laughed at them. It was a cliché but he thought that maybe it wasn't in their case, because it wasn't about prom. It was about them and their future and what they wanted in that exact moment in time.

Smiling, Kol went to sleep beside Davina afterward. She curled up in his arms and he almost went to sleep when the phone began to ring again with more parents wondering where their wayward kids had gone off to. Kol wanted to tell them, start calling hotels but didn't. After all, he and Davina hadn't gone to one, so who knew where they really were.

The next chapter is Caroline-centric with whole lot of Klaroline, some CaroLiz daughter/mother fluff and a mess of friend moments.

Thank you for reading, faving, following and reviewing.
