Eden Chapter 6
"How did she find us," Bo said looking at the picture that Eden had drawn.
"I mean that she knows Eden is mine. Mind reading and breaking into the thoughts of others was always a talent of hers. Somehow she has reached into Eden's memories and she knows. She will not let this go, Bo. Even if Eden was not a threat to the Valkyrie order, than I have broken the rules. Freya has been looking for a reason to take my powers or have me killed for years. I have been told that I am the only Valkyrie that has Freya has even seen as a real threat to her rule. Her job was never one that I wanted and maybe that is why she has ever tried too hard to get rid of me. This is something that she will not be able to overlook, especially if she finds out just how powerful Eden is."
"So what do we do," Bo said falling onto the couch. Kenzi had already taken Eden out of the room and was distracting her with more drawing in the other room.
"I don't know yet. We can't run from her. Freya is ruthless and she has resources that ever The Morgan cannot even imagine. If she comes for Eden then we will have to face her head on. We will have to protect out little girl. Maybe if we could convince her that Eden is not a threat we might have a chance. She might let her live, I not sure what she will do to me."
"She is not doing anything to either one of you!" Bo said in an outrage. What is it with the fae? They always want to have control over everything! What right does she have to tell you that you can't have a child without her permission? Why can't they let us make our own decisions about our own lives?!"
"You have to understand, Bo. Valkyrie guidelines are in place for a reason. If we cannot control our own ranks then we cannot control the battles that we are supposed to guide. The rule about children was supposed to keep our numbers down and blood lines pure. Even the Valkyries that were allowed to have children had to have the mates chosen for them. Most of the time the leader of the Valkyries chose the mate for the Valkyrie allowed to breed. It was a long process and Freya always wanted to make sure that she chose someone who was not too strong so that the child that the Valkyrie had would not be stronger than she was. Freya never said that of course, but I knew that she chose them like that. I also knew that she would never allow me to have a child because she would be in fear of that child if I did. I never really bothered me because like I said I never really wanted her job and children were never a thing I thought much about until I met you. I thought that we might be able to pass Eden off as part human but if she has seen Eden's memories than she already knows that she is full fae," Tamsin said as she sat on the couch next to Bo. "I'm so sorry Bo. I had not taken a Valkyrie mission in so long and I just thought that maybe Freya would never have to know about Eden. I had hoped that I had just dropped off her radar that we were both happy about that. I should have told you when we found out about Eden. This is my fault," Tamsin said with her voice cracking.
"No, Tamsin, you didn't do anything wrong. Freya and that law are wrong. Eden is special and she is worth fighting for and so are you," Bo said as she took Tamsin's hand in hers and kissed it gently. "Maybe the Valkyrie order needs a change and if Freya wants a fight then she will have one. I know you never wanted her job but maybe if she thinks you can take it then she will back off."
Tamsin snorted a laugh, "Not a chance in Hell. She would want to make an example of me and use this to increase her hold on her position of power. It's not her style to back down, but it's not mine either. You're right Bo. Things need to change."
Freya had spent all morning with her ear to the ground for any information that she could find about the other mother of Tamsin's child. The Succubus, Bo had managed to change the way that the fae world looked at the Dark and Light Fae. She and Tamsin had taken down the sides together. Bo was strong even though she had grown up away from the fae world. She had learned that Bo's parents were both very strong fae themselves.
Bo's mother, Aife was a very power Succubus and Bo's father, was known as the Wanderer. The Wanderer was a very powerful force in the underworld. Her research had also uncovered that Aife's father was the Blood King. The Blood King had not been seen in the fae world for years, of course, but he was one of the most powerful fae of his time.
After finding out about the child's bloodline, Freya knew that she could not let her live. Even if she had wanted to and she didn't want to, Eden was a huge threat to her. Her powers had already begun to grow weaker. Breaking into the mind of a child, even a very gifted one, she not have given her so much trouble. She had never thought and in fact, she had done everything she could to prevent a Valkyrie fae from being born that might be powerful enough to take her place. Tamsin was her only threat in millions of years and she never had any plans to allow Tamsin to have a child. She had almost made it too. Tamsin was on her last life. Freya, being the leader of the Valkyries, would not have a last life as long as she was not replaced. Freya knew this child of Tamsin's was not meant to be a common fae. She was meant to be her replacement and she would have to dispatch her before she could fill that role. Tamsin would have to die too now along with Bo. She would never be able to get to the child with them around and she had to be sure that Tamsin would not be around to have any other children.
Frist thing first though, Freya had to find a way to discover the abilities of the child. She had to get close to her and Tamsin would be looking for her now. She would already know that she had discovered Eden. Maybe if she could get to Eden though the Succubus. She would have to find a connection that both Bo and Tamsin would trust and then she might be able to get a look at Eden first hand. She hoped that her powers were still strong enough to control weaker fae and humans. She needed to find someone that could give her information, and she didn't have any luck tracking Bo's mother. She knew that Bo was very close with a human doctor, a former human named Kenzi and a wolf named Dyson. They would be her way in.
Bo and Tamsin sat cuddled up on the couch. Bo was laying on the couch with Tamsin's head on her chest and Tamsin had her eyes closed a little as she listened to the steady beat of Bo's heart. They both wished that they could just stay like that forever and that they didn't have to deal with the problem with Freya. Both had been deep in their thoughts about their new problem and what they needed to do to protect Eden from Freya. They had been talking about it for several hours now and they both felt that they had not made little progress. Kenzi had taken Eden to bed with her about an hour ago but neither wanted to go to bed themselves without some sort of plan. It was unlikely they would even be able to sleep if they had tried to go to bed. This was worrying them both so much that it was hard to even sit still let alone sleep.
"If Eden was human and had no power, would Freya still go after her?" Bo asked.
"I don't really know but if she knows all that Eden can do then there is no way she will let her live," The blonde answered darkly.
"Maybe there is a way to take her power away even if it is only temporary. If we could convince Freya that Eden is not a threat by showing her than maybe we have a chance."
"That's not very likely. I know Freya and she would love to destroy Eden so that she could destroy me. Even if there was no other reason for her to hurt Eden than she would just so it would hurt me."
"What did you do to make her hate you so much?" Bo asked even though she was almost afraid to hear the answer.
"Well of course, there is the fact that I am the strongest Valkyrie that she has and that scares her because she thinks I want to lead, and I'm not too good at following orders."
"Are those the only reasons, or is there something that you are not telling me?"
"Well I may have had a relationship or two with some of the men and women that she dated while she was still dating them," Tamsin said with a smirk.
"Really? Great now we have a super pissed off Valkyrie leader after us because you had to steal her lovers."
"Well when there is no a war going on and souls to harvest then things get a little boring. I had to do something to pass the time."
"Most people read or something not steal their bosses girlfriends."
"And boyfriends," Tamsin added and Bo glared at her.
"You are not helping you case," Bo said but she smiled at little to spite herself. "Anything else you did to Freya that I need to know about before we have to deal with her? You didn't like switch her soul with a rabbit's or something did you?"
"First off, that is crazy. You can switch human and animal souls like that and Valkyries don't switch souls that harvest them. Secondly, it wouldn't have been a rabbit it would have been something that was more suited to her like say a donkey or maybe a gorilla"
"I'm serious, Tamsin."
"I know. I'm sorry. It's going to be okay though, I promise. And well there is one more thing that I should tell you. I hoped I would never have to tell anyone, but you will find out sooner or later. Freya and I didn't always hate each other in fact she taught a lot of what I know. I did something to mess our relationship up. There was this warrior that was very important to her and I think that she may have even have truly loved him, not like her other relationships that were more physical than emotional. She loved him and watched over him. I knew how she felt about him and his soul would have been hers to claim but I told Odin about her feelings. She was forced to step down and I was then in charge of his soul. Valkyries also could also offer a soul guidance in that time whereas now it's not a very common practice to guide them. Anyway, I offered him guidance but I was young and my guidance led him away from a home in Valhalla. I never really meant to do it but Freya saw it as intentional. When the warrior died he didn't come to her in Valhalla and she blamed me. I thought what I was guiding him to do would help him be stronger and more valuable in Valhalla. I should have paid more attention, but I was hard headed and stupid."
"So if his soul didn't go to Valhalla then where did it go?"
"He went to Elysian with the other souls. He wasn't a bad person, but he was not made for Valhalla anymore, and that was my fault. I led him to the group of people that who, at the time, I thought were fighting for a just cause. They were not the kind of people that I thought they were. By the time I saw that, it was too late and he was gone. He didn't listen to me anymore."
"All you did was guide him but he made the choices. You couldn't save him from himself. What kind of people were they?"
"I thought they were a group trying to help the fae but really they wanted destroy the fae. They wanted to rule the fae and I only thought they wanted to stop the wars between light and dark fae. I should have seen it."
"Some people can hide their true natures very well and it's not always easy to see their true motives. You didn't know and you tried to change him once you knew. There was nothing else you could have done. Can't Freya just see him in Elysian?" Bo asked holding Tamsin closer to her and stroking her hair.
"No. He has forgotten her because he was not allowed to keep that knowledge of their relationship. That was the price that he had to pay for his misdeeds to even get into Elysian. Of course, she made that choice for him because he would have never chosen it for himself. Freya didn't want him to end up in Hel's realm. She couldn't be with him but she could see him happy. She just never forgave me. I don't blame her. If had been you that were taken from me than I would never forgive the person who took you either," Tamsin said.
"Well she may never forgive you for that but maybe if she can love someone as much as she loved her warrior than all hope is not lost." Bo said pulling Tamsin up to meet her lips. As they kissed, for a moment, they both forgot Freya, and just melted into the touch. Bo's tongue circled Tamsin's and she was lost to the divine taste that was only Bo. That is how they spent the rest of the night with kissing and soft touches. That is the only thing that could keep the demons at bay.
