A/N: Well hello! Long time no talk! Sorry it's been so long! As some of you know, I've moved away from home and into university! Naturally, I've been extremely busy and I've only recently been getting into a fairly regular schedule and I'm adjusting so that I can write! Please enjoy :)!
"Did you call?" JJ asked Will as he settled into the bed next to her.
"Yup, the breeder said we can pick him up anytime from ten to seven tomorrow."
"She's gonna love him, I just know it."
JJ turned the light out and slid further under the covers.
'We are going to give Isabel the best birthday ever.'
Xx
"Good morning birthday girl!" JJ nearly shouted as she stepped into Isabel's room and started to open up the blinds.
"The birthday girl needs ten more minutes of sleep." Isabel grumbled, her face buried into her pillow.
"Oh come on, you're getting old kiddo, you're going to have to get used to waking up at a reasonable hour!"
Isabel sighed and pushed herself up out of bed.
JJ took her hand and they went downstairs together, the smell of warm chocolate immediately causing Isabel's stomach to growl the second they got off the last step.
"Happy birthday Isabel!" Henry ran up to her with Lucy right behind, and squeezed her around the waist with all his might.
"Thanks bro." Isabel smiled at him and they all went into the kitchen, to find Will making Isabel's favorite breakfast.
"Chocolate chip pancakes! Daddy you didn't have to do that!"
"I wanted to princess, and you know your mama and I love them ourselves."
Isabel chuckled as JJ smiled guiltily.
The family settled into their breakfast table and ate everything, smiling and laughing as they did, just like every birthday they celebrated in the house. As they were finishing up, JJ and Will looked at Isabel,
"Darling, why don't you go get dressed? We 're going someplace special today." Will said to his daughter.
Isabel knew she wasn't going to get anything out of either of her parents no matter how much begging she did, so she simply nodded and took her dishes into the kitchen before she headed upstairs into her room.
"Momma, daddy, where are we going?" Henry asked cheerfully, his big brown eyes lighting up.
"It's a secret, you have to wait until we get there." JJ said simply.
Henry felt a sense of impatience come over him,
"When will we go?"
"As soon as you and Isabel get ready." Will replied with a wink.
Henry suddenly gasped,
"Okay! I go now!"
JJ and Will laughed as he practically ran out of the room, then a few seconds later heard him yelling at his sister to hurry up.
"What are we gonna do when those two are teenagers?" JJ asked her husband.
Will shook his head,
"We'll have to chain them together at this rate."
JJ started to laugh even harder,
"You know, as terrible as that is, it's probably the only thing that'll work!"
The two looked at each other as they continued to laugh, until they heard their two children start to make their way back downstairs.
Xx
JJ and Will quickly put the dishes into the dishwasher-though not without being told to "hurry up" by their very impatient children-and headed out the door, their excitement growing stronger with each passing minute. JJ looked over at Will as he started to pull out of the garage,
"Did you get it?" She asked in a voice barely above a whisper.
Will didn't do anything but nod.
They drove south for about an hour before eventually pulling up to small but spacious stone house with a large lawn, families gathered all around an enclosure that had some sort of small animals in it.
"What are those?" Isabel asked somewhat hesitantly.
"Well, why don't we get out and go take a look?" JJ smiled at her daughter.
They all got out and made their way up to the home, and it wasn't long before Henry and Isabel could see what was in the enclosure.
"Kitties!" Henry called out.
"Wait, are you serious?" Isabel looked up at her parents in disbelief.
Will and JJ laughed,
"Go take a look!"
Isabel dashed off, JJ following close behind, and Will took Henry over to see the breeder.
"You must be Mr. Lamontagne!" The petite woman said as they approached.
"Yes ma'am, and this is my son Henry, and over there is my wife JJ and our daughter, Isabel."
"Alright well let's go on over and see what they think!"
They made their way over to the kittens, and Will smiled to see his girls playing with a male kitten with a silver coat and exotic markings.
"Hello! I see you're holding the little one I thought you all would like!"
Isabel laughed as the kitten started to play with the tassels on the end of her scarf,
"These are Savannah cats, right?"
The breeder smiled and nodded,
"That's right! And your momma and daddy here tell me that you've been wanting one for quite some time, is that right?"
"She never stops talking 'bout it!" Henry exclaimed, causing a wave of chuckles to come from the adults.
"Good, good. What do you think of that little guy?"
"He's wonderful! I'd love to take him home-well, if it's okay, of course." Isabel replied, looking up at her parents as she did.
"Yes darling, of course it's alright, he's your birthday present." Will told his daughter, admiring her respect towards him and JJ.
"Yay! We get a kitty!" Henry said, stroking the kitten's back as he settled into JJ's lap.
Xx
Will payed the breeder and JJ went to grab the animal travel carrier from the car, smiling to see Isabel holding her new friend closely in her arms when she returned.
"Alright, let's put him in the carrier so we can go."
They made their way back, stopping at the pet store before heading home. JJ turned around to look at her children as they pulled up to their home, the cat carrier between them and the kitten mewing softly,
"Do you know what you want to call him?"
Isabel nodded,
"Sam, just…Sam." She giggled slightly as she answered.
They all gave their approval, and headed into the house.
Isabel-who was slightly in pain and very tired-handed the carrier to Will and she and JJ watched as Henry dashed into the house with the bag of pet supplies, chattering on about making Sam "feel homey".
"Hey mom?" Isabel asked, glancing up at her mother as they started to walk side by side.
"Yes?"
"Thank you, this is the best birthday ever."
JJ kissed the top of her daughter's head, putting her arm around Isabel's bony shoulders as she did,
"Anything for you bunny rabbit, anything for you."
