A/N: Hey again! This chapter's a little bit shorter, but lots of you have been asking for more involvement with Henry, so that's the majority of this chapter. Thank you again for the nominations to the Profiler's Choice Awards! (For those of you who don't know yet, I'm trying to get this story on the final ballot for the best OC-Driven fic. Of course you don't have to nominate me, but just a consideration is an honor. There's more info in my bio!) Sorry I've been self-promoting so much, but it really means a lot that this story will get the attention I think it deserves, because it's all for a good cause at the end of the day. Okay, happy reading!

Disclaimer: If I owned CM so many things would be different okay.

It was Will's day to be with Isabel at the hospital, and JJ was glad for the small break. She'd taken the day off so she could spend some quality time with Henry, and see how he was coping with the whole situation.

As she sat cross-legged with him on the floor of his room, she studied him for a minute as he became engorged in his legos, only looking to his mother to help him every so often. She sat up a little more, then reached out to stroke his soft, blonde hair,

"Hey bud, can I ask you something?"

His eyes met hers,

"Okay mommy."

"What do you think of everything that's been going on with Bell?"

His brow furrowed as he thought of his sister,

"I'm afraid. Daddy said she has cancer, and I know she's real sick."

JJ nodded,

"She is, and when someone has cancer, they have to have special medicine, and the medicine makes her feel pretty icky."

Henry immediately took on a look of confusion,

"But doesn't medicine make you feel better?"

"Yes, but with this medicine, it makes you feel really gross and then you get better. I know it's weird, but it's what's best."

Henry nodded, but looked at his mother again with a sorrow expression on his face,

"Does the medicine make Bell's hair go away?"

"Yes. It does all kinds of things; it makes her tummy hurt, it makes her hair fall out, it makes her tired and sore, but it also kills the cancer, and that's the good part."

Henry took a moment to think about his mother's words, then suddenly he stood up tall and proud,

"I wanna kill cancer!"

JJ laughed,

"One day, you'll help find the cure buddy, I'm almost sure of it."

He sat back down next to her and curled into her side. Henry broke the momentary silence with a question JJ never thought she'd have to face until recently,

"Momma, is Bell gonna die?"

JJ looked at him and sighed,

"You know buddy, no one really knows. We don't think so, but we can't really help what happens to her. She just has to fight, and try her best to push through. All you and I and daddy can do is just trust the doctors and hope and ask that she'll be alright. But you don't need to worry about that, okay?"

Henry smiled up at her,

"Okay."

JJ gave him a tight squeeze and planted a kiss on top of his head.

"Hey, it's your birthday next month, are you excited?"

Henry nodded furiously, causing JJ to let out a small giggle.

It was crazy how their summer had seemed to fly by. It was now August, and for the first time in years JJ wasn't getting ready to enroll Isabel in school.

'She'd be starting middle school if it weren't for this stupid disease.' She thought to herself. However, Henry would be starting preschool, and she knew that would be a good distraction for him from his sister's sickness.

Will awoke to the sound of his daughter's lurching. He quickly stood up and turned the light on in the dark room. When he turned around to face her he was relieved to see she'd made it into the emesis bowl. He made his way over and gently rubbed her back,

"There there, I know it sucks."

She finished, set the bowl on the small table next to the bed, and curled into Will's side.

"I hope this is really working, because I'd be so mad if I found out that I've been puking my guts out for nothing!"

Will chuckled,

"Don't worry, all you should think about now is getting through the rest of this chemo round. Remember what everyone keeps sayin', 'Just take it one step at a time.'"

Isabel looked at him with an expression that said "Really? You too?"

"Look, I know it's stupid and cliché but it's the truth, don't get ahead of yourself."

She gave him a small smile despite rolling her eyes playfully,

"I know it's just all so sucky and I mean if it's pointless then it would just suck even more!" She laughed at herself, which-despite her relatively sick sense of humor-was refreshing for Will.

"You're crazy."

She laughed harder, until a grimace came over her face,

"My stomach hurts." She told him simply.

He nodded,

"Get some sleep, it'll be mornin' soon."

She settled back under the covers and fluttered her eyes shut. Will kissed her forehead and turned the light off, hoping she'd be able to sleep as best she could.

'Lord knows she needs it.'
