~ The Search for Jokul Frosti ~

Author's Note ~ OH JOKUL FROSTI! WHERE COULD U BE?! Sorry. I'm just excited! This was a request from HoneyBeeez. Please enjoy. Oh, and Jokul Frosti is Norwegian for Jack Frost, if you translate it from Finnish language. ONWARD! ~

Hiccup never really appreciated the heat. He lived in a small town in India where it NEVER snowed. It never even got cold during the Winter. At least, not usually. Every time there was at least the slightest drop in temperature. Hiccup would run outside and embrace it like a long lost friend.

Reason for his 'strange' behavior, was because Hiccup grew up with the stories of mythology. He grew up with the stories of the Norwegian people, cause he never took liking in the practice of Hinduism. His father at least approved of him liking the belief of their apparent 'history'. Hiccup didn't mind that the others were foundling themselves with the belief of 'another world'. He was to busy reading about the mischievous adventures of 'Jokul Frosti' as the winter spirit was named By the Norwegian people.

Ever since he was a little boy. Hiccup had vowed himself in finding Jokul Frosti. He just needed the right place to look. And he would not stop until he found him.

The next day. Something happened that never happened before. For the first time ever, it had snowed in Hiccup's small Indian town, and he was thrilled. He ran outside, just in time to catch glimpses of confused looks from the other adults. This brought a large, wide, dorky smile to his face. And he could just hear the sound of a child's laugh and chuckled to himself. If Hiccup had read correctly in his books; that was the laugh of the one and only Jokul Frosti. He then went inside to grab his hat, scarf and gloves and sprinted into the woods. That was when it seemed that the laughing was getting louder.

Hiccup then kept running. Yet. Every time he seemed to get closer. The laughter seemed to go further away from him. Then the laughing seemed to stop a Hiccup reached the center of the forest. It seemed quiet. That wasn't good. As he started to run again, he could hear rattling in the bushes. He turned with a gasp and walked towards them.

"Don't be frightened. I know your there," Hiccup said,"You've been watching over me since I was small. Is there something you want? If there is. Please come out and tell me." "You won't want to see me," The voice came like a whisper,"I'm hideous. And no one can see me." Hiccup scoffed,"We don't know that for sure. Now do we. Please come out so that I may see." More rustling then came from the bush and Hiccup slowly backed away. Hiccup's eyes then went soft as a boy came out from the bushes. "I told you," He said,"I'm hideous." "No," Hiccup said to quickly,"No your not. Your. Beautiful." The boy blushed a deep pink. Which looked purple across his pale cheeks.

"Thank you," the boy said as the blush,"No one. Has ever told me that before." "Well," Hiccup sighed,"Now someone has." There was a moment of silence. "I'm Hiccup," Hiccup said introducing himself. "I know," The boy replied,"As you said,'I've been watching you since you were small.' I was there the day of your birth, watching over your mother." Hiccup gasped,"you knew my mother?" The boy nodded. "Valka. She was a kind and gentle woman. She loves you. Even though she's not here physically. She still loves you."

Hiccup smiled, this was the best day of his life. Though his smile turned upside down. "Why are you here?" He questioned sadly. "Because," The boy started to explain,"I promised Valka I would protect you. Though, for some reason, I couldn't come to see you till now." "Why is that?" There was another moment of silence as the boy hesitated,"I loved you since the day you were born. The way you used to smile and laugh and play. It was breath taking." Hiccup blushed.

"I guess it was out of fear," The boy continued, "Fear. That you would reject me." Hiccup then sighed as he held onto the boy's hands. The boy gasped in disbelief that someone was even touching him. "You know," Hiccup said as he warmed up the boy's hands by holding them in his, "It's rude to not introduce yourself after someone introduced themselves. What's your name?" The boy hesitated, "It's," He was beginning to stutter. Hiccup could tell. "Jack. Jack Frost." Hiccup's eyes widened,"Jokul Frosti?" "Huh? Oh! You must've been reading the Norwegian story about me," Jack chuckled as Hiccup nodded.

"Yes. I am the spirit of Winter. The one and only Jokul Frosti. Please to make you acquaintance," Jack bowed playfully as Hiccup smiled and bowed back. "The pleasure is mine," Hiccup replied back playfully. It was a pleasing night. And night's like this did occur more often then most. That is till others began seeing these weird ways in which it seemed Hiccup was talking to himself, earning himself disappointed looks from the

Some nights. Would be more cheerful then others. Jack had remembered every little clumsy mistake Hiccup would make when he was younger and smiled as he told Hiccup about his small antics. "Then. Then you ran around the village as Gobber would try to catch you. You would squeal, 'No. No! Gobbies' a monster!' And Gobber would make you laugh bye tickling you till you shouted, 'My thwighs hurt!' It was pretty funny." Hiccup was laughing so hard. He completely forgot about when he was a little kid. (4 to be exact) It was nice to remember. Though, remembering Jack. Was in shorter time then Hiccup could bare.

"Jack!" He called and the winter spirit was by his side in a minuets notice. "What's wrong?" the eternal teen questioned to the now twenty year old. "Astrid," Hiccup explained, "She's pregnant with my future baby girl." Jack looked shocked for a moment. He had totally forgotten that Hiccup and Astrid had gotten married just last year. Prior to the country's tradition. He then smiled, "That's wonderful Hic," Jack said giving the adult his teen-hood nickname which Jack had given him when he was 16. "I was wondering if you could do me a favor," The adult heritaged viking said as he placed a hand onto the teen's shoulder.

Jack smiled, "And what favor would that be?" "Watch over her and protect her for me, please?" "Of course Hiccup. On my word and forever lasting youthfulness. I shall protect your daughter. What's her name gonna be?" "We haven't decided. Yet, I was thinking. Maybe Jacqueline or even Hicca." "Well, what ever the name shall be. I'll protect her." Astrid then called to Hiccup and the two males were done with their conversation. And Hiccup never saw Jack again.

Though, nine months later, a healthy baby girl was born to Astrid and Hiccup Haddock. And she was named, "Jacqueline Hicca Haddock." Hiccup always told her stories before she would go to bed. Her favorite was one of when Hiccup first met Jack and how they became friends rather quickly. "Papa?" She said one night. "Yes Jack?" "I'll find him for you," She replied, "I'll find Jokul Frosti for you." Hiccup smiled to his six year old baby girl and said, "I'm sure you will," He then kissed her forehead, "Good night Jacqueline." "Good night papa."

So the search continued. The search was completed. Then the search started again. Because, as one generation of Haddocks goes. Another comes with the proud hope of finding the winter spirit which their great ancestors did before. And if you listen closely. You may be able to hear that childish laughter. Of a boy. A boy which always was around during winter. When ever a member of the strong Haddock family said, "I'm coming for you Jack Frost!" Then the search would begin again.
